Google Vs *other Search Engine* Which is the best???
SkyStormKuja replied to Thorn's topic in Search Engines
Popularity causes search engines to become better. The more a search engine is used, the more its crawlers can spread. The more sites is submitted, the more its indexing is complete. Thus, taking into account these points, there is but two that really stands out. Maybe three.Google. It started big, and still is. Many people use it, and because of that, it grows even larger.Yahoo. It had a great backing, and soon became a hit with its search capabilities. MSN? It's kinda a forced one used by people too lazy to change their default homepage back. -

The 20 Worst Windows Features Of All Time
SkyStormKuja replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Operating Systems
Three things.Firstly, I think that the IE is sucky in a whole. The Taskmanager doesn't really work...Windows Aero seems like a completely useless feature. Why in heavens name would you want to turn your windows in 3D?! I have asked numerous people, and so far no one could give me an answer that made any sense. I think that is a quite useless addtition, and I am so glad it's not "built in" like hundreds of other utilities and effects.Actually, DriveSpace was quite useless to me when I had Windows 98(I think). It worked and everything, but as soon as I installed something large, it would suddenly eat the compression away, leaving you with the original size at the end. -
I must admit, the advertisements doesn't really look that bad, and they really blend quite nicely. I like the theme and the template, though I must say, I'd really like to see a nice logo up there in the blue, rather than just text. It's difficult to see exactly what the site is about at first glance. That's my suggestion.

Well, I'm currently practicing, and hopefully improving my colouring skills. So even though my drawing kinda sucks, I can at least color methinks. Excuse the Naruto theme. I'm into that now. ^_~ http://skystormkuja.deviantart.com/art/Minato-of-the-Leaf-77842319 http://skystormkuja.deviantart.com/art/Itachi-of-the-Leaf-77834588

I must say, Firefox is not too bad. It has the stability that IE can't offer, and it's an amazingly fast browser. I myself prefer Opera, but the idea is still there. I'm glad to see browsers other than IE make it into the big-business. FF is defenitely giving MS a run for its money.

You know, that is the exact same reason I use Windows still. Usually games don't work on Linux. And even if you add your windows emulator, or terminal-window thing, you're still stuck with it.

That is a strange post. It looks like an ad to me... Anyways. I thought I'd aide the necropost in telling you my favourite music. I have a wide taste, and it ranges from classical music to hard rock. Usually though I go for J-Pop, and also for game and anime BGM and their theme songs. I also recently gone into classical rock and classical metal (such as Nightwish or Apolyptica), which are great bands.

Smoking is a free thing to do. I don't do it, cause it's...well...quite a bad habit. I mean, breath smoke? I don't get it. Anyways, it is fine that other people smoke, as long as they don't stand before me and blow it in my face.

Opera Mobile A new phone internet browser.
SkyStormKuja replied to demonatashadow's topic in Mobile Phones
I don't know what you mean by it costs something, but I know I use it and it works great. I haven't used Internet Explorer on my phone (I'll never use anything MS on my phone! =O) so I can't really make any judgements on the browser's speed. It's small and nice to handle. -
Heh, well, in Super Smash Brothers Melee, I loved Marth. He was a hidden character (sort of) that had to be unlocked by doing...something...can't remember what though. Anyways, he wasn't overly strong, but when I got the hang of that countering, and got used to the speeds, I realised that he was an excellent character. He can move fast, and counter attacks fairly easily (with the right timing), and I love him. Of course, he's a cool character as well.

Let me comment on that list. Brawl is going to be one of the greatest action/fighting/party games to date. Melee was a dream to play, and I enjoyed a thorougly. The features included in Brawl is superb, and I'd get this, if I had money. Features include lots of new characters, Wii-graphics, level builder, etc, so really, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this one. I asume this is Rise of a Ninja 2? If so, this could be great, as the first one seemed rushed to fit with the XBOX360 release. This game'll be better, and I think it'll rock. I don't know this game. I'm kinda getting tired of the GTA games. They don't really bring much more the genre. What I'd like to see though is freeforming to the extreme. An all destructive enviroment, being able to climb strange places, and do things that are still unavailble. This proves to be a huge thing, and will probably be very popular. I don't really know what to make of it, but it looks quite fun, and will probably be so as well. This is my pick. I've been waiting so long for this. So far, it looks brilliant, and I am really looking forward to this. I want this so bad, I'm aching. A pity that the SC2 website has a release date of TBA still. After SE's mess-up with FF12, I sincerely hope they improve with this one. The battle systems seems genuinely interesting, and the characters are great, but I just hope they don't mess it up...again... I'm not really interested in the last three, so I ommitted them. That's my opinion. Feel free to counter-argue. I like debates.

Well, here in South Africa, we have this list of things that is typical here : 1) Rugby is more important that work.2) We invented Braai.3) Our national anthem contains 4 languages in one.4) If your car is stolen, you can probably by its tyres back a few blocks further5) We have huge walls around our houses to keep criminals out6) Our police force is more corrupt that our jail-cells.7) Our army is looking for more men8) People here refer to plurals of certain things as animes, pokemons, sheeps...9) We hurt the black people in our country with a thing called apartheid. Now it's happening the other way aroundThis isn't really what you meant I think. Let's see : 1) I don't have a single poster in my room in my own language.2) I don't have a single CD in my room in my own language.3) I dislike the top two.4) I am probably the only South African that doesn't like Rugby.5) I own a Fiets.6) I am also probably the only one who can say grap, and not make it sound like "grab" with a p.7) I have never seen snow in my life.8) I live on a huge platue.9) Whenever I visit friends they are either a) Watching Rugby, Drinking beer, c) Eating braaivleis.10) I can only speak 2 of the 11 official languages of my country. =PThat's about it. Go figure. ^^

Kansukekojima Vs. Coolcat50 [voting]
SkyStormKuja replied to KansukeKojima's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I like coolcat50's entry. The colors seem to blend nicely with the character at the front (who is that?) and I like the background. The top one is alright, but there seems to be something less appealing about it, thus my vote for Coolcat50. -
South Africa is a small country on the Southern point of Africa (hence the name), and I live there. =P Crime's high, but we got the bid for 2010's soccer world cup. Go figure. Anyways, I was just wondering how many other people also live in South Africa on this forum, because in all the forums I come across, South Africans are quite rare. We are a strange lot. ^^PWe have 11 official languages. 11!

The problem I usually find with Warcraft is 1) The very short supply thing, with that irritating...what do they call it? That system where the more people you have, the less resources you gather. Argh that irritates me.2) Heroes - As said, the computer's heroes are so strong at one point that they kill everything off. And now imagine playing against a human who sends in 5 fully leveled heroes. They can destroy entire forces with them...3) Starcraft is better. Nicer story telling (without counting genre gap). And many other things I'm too lazy to list.Besides, Starcraft 2 looks excellent...when it finally gets a release date...

Remember that all MP3's you download must be deleted within 24 hours, or you must own the original copy.I am very dissappointed in FF12 as a whole, and the music is no exception. The 'boss' song is patheticly weak, and the ingame music was not up to par with previous titles. This might of course be because Nobuo Uematsu, the composer for all the FF games up to FF10, left with Sakaguchi to form Mystwalker(Mistwalker? Can't remember the spelling). So, I have (secretly) much higher hopes for music from those games. As for FF12's general music, I think that could have done better. It wasn't that bad, but as I said, not up to par. Some of the tracks are not bad at all, for instance the Angela Aki song is quite good, she has talent.Edit : Whoops, it seems I posted in a necro-posted thread. Apologies.

Most Memorable Rpg's from the past and now
SkyStormKuja replied to Megaman's topic in Computer Gaming
Hmm. Most memorable doesn't really go to FF7 methinks. A memorable game is something that defined RPG games in it's own way. The sort of game no one forgets. I guess FF7 does fall in that catagory in a way.Let's see. Final Fantasy 1 was of course a rocker. The world loved it, though it was still quite primetive. The Dragon Warrior series started near to it, and was also known for it's interesting ideas, away from the Ultima-type games. Of course, then, things like Crono Trigger made a debut on the SNES (or was it the NES?) and made a huge impact. The most memorable I can directly think of now, would be the latter, Crono Trigger. It had a genuinly interesting battle system, with Dual Techs and direct in-map figthing. The story was brilliant (coming from Square, it's obvious). Near to it would be the FF3, 5 etc Job-type systems. That was something that only came in in DW, and the Golden Sun games quite a while later.Of course, Legend of Zelda, an action RPG was a huge hit even with the first installment, and made the genre for Action RPG's a reality. So really, there's quite a few games. I don't think only one could count as memorable. -
There is no option for Ragnarok Online. =O Ragnarok Online is so far my favourite. It has something that the other games don't. It's not so direct and brawling like Wow. It's not strange like some of the free Online RPG's I've seen. It has a flair that seems to make it stand out. I guess it might be the anime-themed character designs that has me hooked. And the people on the server I'm on are really nice people. Bleh. Many people asked my why it is my favourite but I can't really say. It was the first MMORPG I've played, so that might account for a bit of my reasons.

This is all well and everything, IRQ's can cause crashes, and so can any 3rd party software that is installed on it. I guess I'm an old hater of Microsoft for various reasons, but I have been struggling with it for as long as I can remember. Starting with Windows 3.1, I've had little to no problems, even when running programs and 3rd party things (thought most of them were run in a DOS enviroment) But soon, with Win98, I began to loath Microsoft. Things never run smoothly. Granted, it is difficult to run the perfect system, but still. Also, Windows XP is quite stable, but crashes easily. Luckily, the amounts of Blue Error Screens of Death I've encountered is a lot less. I believe that Windows Vista is really pushing it, and even Vista has crashed before my eyes. Completely. So mostly, I think that rather than hardware, software is the main cause of systems that crash. Adware and spyware that sits in your RAM causes crashes as well. And not enough disk space. I was once in a form of 0bytes left on my main drive, and my windows crashed because it couldn't create the swapfile.
