  1. I usually sleep for around 8 hours each night. Sometimes a little more, and sometimes a lot less. Some nights I don't get any sleep at all, which is really annoying when that happens...I'll just lie there and try and sleep but won't be able to.I go to sleep pretty late too. Usually I lie there for at least an hour or two before I finally get to sleep...then I wake up late. I'm trying to change my sleeping pattern so I wake up and get to sleep earlier but so far it's not working that well. I don't like wasting all that time in the morning sleeping. There's so much other stuff I could be doing. At the moment I think I'm going to sleep at around 2am and waking up at 10am...It's annoying.
  2. For servers, I think that Linux/Unix is the best. For PCs, I like Mac OS X the best. Windows has too many bugs. Linux/Unix is good but it takes a little getting used to. Mac OS X also takes a little getting used to if you're used to Windows, but it supports some programs that can be used in Windows, that Linux doesn't...like iTunes (maybe not the best example since it is an Apple program to start with but anyway...) is available for Mac and Windows, but not Linux. Mac OS X is also Unix based so it still has a lot of the functions Linux/Unix has that Windows doesn't.
  3. I prefer Intel. All my family's computers have had Intel processors and at least 2 of them are still working fine and they're 7 and 5 years old. We had an older one than that but we sold it so I don't know how it's still going, but the 2 we still have are great. However, I have a friend who has just recently been having trouble with his computer running on an AMD processor and it's only about 1 year old. So, yeah...I will say Intel because just from that, I think they are more reliable.I also hear that AMD give off more heat than Intel processors, and so require more fans or something to cool them. So, that's another reason why I choose Intel...they're more efficient.
  4. The first computer I (well, my family actually) ever owned was an Acer Pentium I that ran Windows 3.1. We bought it in 1994, just before Christmas. That's about all I know about it. I wasn't really into computers back then, so I didn't really pay that much attention to it...except for when I was drawing in paint, or playing games on it. I remember we used to have this game on there called Commander Keen and the only way we could get to it was by typing commands into DOS after the computer had been started up. Actually, the only way you could get into anything was by typing commands into DOS...even if you just wanted to get into Windows, you had to type 'win' in when the prompt came up.
  5. Wow. I'm going to go and have a look at that website now. It sounds very interesting. Thanks for posting this.Whatever treasure is there, I hope it is worth it. After spending 6 million dollars, and having 6 people die...I hope for all their sakes, it's something spectacular.
  6. Whenever I've looked for a webhost, I've always looked for space, bandwidth, method of upload, what scripts are allowed, and what types of files are allowed. I've usually paid attenton to the amount of uptime too but nowhere near as much. If a webhost didn't state their amount of uptime, I didn't go looking for it. I always just assumed becuase all the other hosts I'd seen it on where 99.99% (or close too) that most of them where the same.I guess I've been lucky in that way, that none of the website hosts I've been with have had low uptime... I'm just unlucky that they keep closing down their free hosting after a few months. I'm glad I found Xisto. It has everything I was looking for, and it hasn't closed down. YAY!
  7. Out of all the Windows versions that I've tried, I think that 98 is the most stable. Windows ME has way, way WAY too many bugs...I too kept getting the blue screen coming up all the time whenever I tried to do somethng. XP is pretty stable as well but there's too much extra stuff on there that takes up room and makes the computer run slower (it does on my computer ayway). So, yep...98. It doesn't keep bringing up the blue screen all the time, and it doesn't come with so much "extra" junk.
  8. Personally, I don't think that there were enough questions for this to be an accurate IQ test. All the other IQ tests I've taken usually have around 50 - 100 questions...somtimes more. And even then, I don't think that you can really "measure" someones intelligence just by getting them to take one test.Nevertheless, I scored 129 on this test. It's a bit below the average of what I usually score, but it's still good. I'm happy. My greatest strength was in spacial (100%), and my greatest weakness was in verbal (looks like about 87%).
  9. Three things that I really hate are:-1. Lies. I don't care how big or how small, or for whatever reason, I hate them. I like to always know the truth no matter what, and lies just get in the way of that. They can really mess with people too.2. Bullies. Anyone who picks on other people. There's no reason for it, and it can really hurt the victims. It's just not fair.3. Spiders. They're small, can hide away in and behind things without being noticed, have eight legs, bite, and can kill. What more reason do I need to hate them?

  11. I think that the meaning of life is to make our creator (whoever you believe that to be) happy and pleased with us. I think that that means for us to enjoy life and everything that we do, to obey God and show that we are worthy of the afterlife, and to carry out whatever we were put on this earth to do. Or at least something like that anyway...I'm not really that good at explaining things.
  12. My favourite TV shows at the moment would have to be:1. Fairly Odd Parents2. Mythbusters3. Rove Live (Aussie show)4. Futurama (are we allowed to have 4?)I love cartoons...and anything funny.
  13. I'm using 2% of my Gmail account, and 1% of my Hotmail.Since getting Gmail I hardly ever use Hotmail now...except for occassionally someone will forget my Gmail addy and email me at Hotmail. And then I just reply to them and delete them, so I use hardly any space on there. On Gmail, I hardly delete anything because the 1 GB of space they had to start with was huge and I thought I'd never use it. Now they have 2 GB and counting! There's no way I'd ever use that so only delete something if it's not important. And I can search easily through all the old messages if I need to find something, which s very handy.
  14. My name is Michelle. It's French, and is the female version of Michael meaning "Who is like God?".I was named after the Beatles song "Michelle"...my dad's a huge Beatles fan and he named me...go figure. lolI'm amazed at how many Michaels there are here. I've read through at least 3, but I'm sure there were more than that. It must be a very popular name...well, I already knew it was popular, but it must be more popular than I realised.
  15. I general, I think just a normal phone is best. I can see the advantages in both though. Sometimes there's moments when you REALLY want to take a photo but don't have a camera on you, so a camera phone would come in handy for times like that. There are a few cameras out there that can take pretty good photos without skimping on everything else. My brother actually just got a phone that takes photos, accesses the Internet, plays mp3s and videos, and probably some more stuff that I don't even know about and it does all of them well from what I've seen...didn't cost that much either...For me though, I don't really see the need for it. A phone's a phone. A camera's a camera. I can't really justify spending the extra money on a camera phone when I'm only going to use it to talk to people, and I already have my own camera that I'm perfectly happy with.
  16. I live in Australia and for some reason, have always wanted to visit Germany. Since I learned German in year 3 at school, I've always liked learning things about Germany...and then there's all the German history like World War 2, and Hitler, and the Berin Wall. It just interests me, and I think it would be cool to go to some of those places and see what they're like now.I also wouldn't mind visiting New Zealand because I have so many friends over there that I would like to meet. I've seen so many pictures of all these beatiful places and sceneries over there as well. It just would be cool to go and visit them and see them all for myself.
  17. Thanks guangdian for starting this topic, and thanks to everyone who has replied. I have to install Linux onto my Win XP computer soon because I'll be studying programming in Linux this semester at Uni. I wasn't sure how to do it...I had an idea, but wasn't sure if it was right...So, thanks everyone. Now I know for sure how to install Linux on my computer. YAY!
  18. There's 23 icons on this computer's desktop. Most of them are never even used. They're mostly for programs, and there's also some shortcuts, a folder, and a file.I think we only really use about 10 of them...I guess I probably should clean up the desktop. :PThen, knowing my luck, someone will want to use one of them and will complain about it being removed and they can't find it. lol

    Hello

  20. I agree with that...I was actually going to say something to that extent but you already said it so well. As well as that, I don't believe in the "Matrix" because just the existance of the movies themselves is proof that the matrix doesn't really exist. If the matrix were true, whoever (or whatever) runs the matrix would have stopped the movie from ever being made. To have that movie out and known by such a large percentage of the public would be very damaging to, if not, destroy their system....
  21. I'm studying a University course part time. I just started this year. I'm studying Computer Science...I'm not sure if I chose the right course or not because last semester was kinda boring...I'm hoping this semester will be better though because if it's not, I don't know what I'm gonna do.
  22. I like Minesweeper. It's a good little game for when you're bored, and it makes you think too, which I always like in a game. It does get addictive though...especially on Expert level when you're trying to win and then somewhere around the end, you have to guess and you always pick the wrong one and lose...very annoying! lol Normally you can figure out where the mines are (or where they're not) by using the numbers and figuring it out from there. You do have to guess sometimes though which can be annoying, especially when you're towards the end, so I do feel the starter of this topic's pain! When you have to guess though, try to figure out what the odds are of a mine being in each possible square then make your guess from that...that's what I do, and it usually works for me.
  23. "rofl" means "rolling on floor laughing".I don't know very many of those abbreviated words...I know lmao (laughing my a** off), brb (be right back), ttyl (talk to you later), g2g (got to go), np (no problem), yw (you're welcome) and probably a few others that I can't think of right now...I think they're handy when you're in a hurry or can't be bothered typing something out, but they do get annoying when you're talking to someone who uses them in just about every second thing they type...especially if they're using ones you've never heard before and you have to keep asking "what does that mean?" all the time. Like "pwn"...I have no idea what that means... lol
  24. I have a 20GB 3G iPod and I love it. I don't use up all the space on it, but I do use a fair bit...more than what's on a mini iPod. It's cool because I can play all my songs all day (or maybe it's a couple of days now...I dunno...) and not have a single repeat. It's like my own personal radio station...kinda
  25. That's very interesting. I had been wondering about some of that for a while now, so it's good to have it all cleared up. Thank you.
