  1. As a former PTC website owner I feel obligated to let you know that you will probably never get paid by most PTC sites. Although the PTC site owners may have good intentions and fully plan on paying the members, this business model is not sustainable. I know this from experience.
In most cases the only advertisers that are purchasing ads from the PTC sites are in fact owners of other PTC sites trying to boost their traffic in a futile effort to attract more advertisers. It is a big ugly circle that drains money from the PTC site owners and eventually causes the sites to shut down and leave any owed balance to members unpaid.

During the time that my PTC site was operational, we paid out hundreds of members, but in the end thousands of members who could not reach our $50 payout lost the balance owed to them when my operating funds went dry. The same will likely happen to you unless you are one of the lucky few who hit that payout level before the bottom falls out on the PTC programs you subscribe to.

One method that makes some money online is selling drop shipped goods via ebay. Try searching for drop shipping companies online and see how you can get started.

The nice thing about drop shipping is that you can list items for sale on ebay without having to stock physical inventory yourself. If an item sells, you simply enter the buyers shipping info into the drop shipping company website, transfer the fee, and keep the difference. If an item does not sell, you only loose the small ebay listing fee so the risks are low and income can be great depending on what you try to sell.

I've tried to get into the drop shipping thing without any luck. I've gone through many sites and they all have prices that are at about the same as things cost in the store and such, and the ones that seem "decent" are already being undercut on sites like eBay (ex. the drop shipper will sell x item to you for $4.99 but people on eBay already sell them for $3.99).

The only way I've found to make any type of profit at all is to buy in mass bulk (thousands of an item) and sell like that, and that requires a lot of up-front capital.

  2. it would be good if it was announced in the proper topic when this happens or is about to happen, and if it did and I missed it, then, please accept my humble apologies.

This right here. We need more transparency as to what's going on. While I'm not against the "wait until things are updated" stance, it would be a lot better for everyone (and lead to far less questions and complaints) if updates were given and things were more open to the members. Sitting around wondering is what causes the influx of negative remarks/post/threads and questions.

  3. Yes, during the really slow periods, I find it isn't worth the time checking in all the time because it still takes a lot of time scrolling through all the many forum topics just to see if there are new posts. So the slower it gets the less frequently I bother dropping in. I sure with it would pick up at least this next week. My hosting credits are getting pretty low, and vacation is coming soon, and I'd rather not have to worry about it while I'm gone.

To find all of the new posts made since your last visit, check out the top right side of the forums for the "View New Content" link. This will show a listing of only the new topics and posts since your last visit, which makes it easier to keep up!

  4. This happens elsewhere too. I run into it all the time dealing with people from Craigslist, as a seller. People will even ask you to hold things for a couple days so they can get time off work or whatever, then not come and never respond to phone calls or anything. It's annoying because you lose out on sales as a result. It's one of the reasons I rarely deal with people "in person" anymore. It's just a major hassle because of the few (seemingly large number of) people who do this, and it really destroys the entire experience.

  5. This past week or so I have noticed MANY site that are now filled with underlined words that when you happen to scroll over them they pop up with annoying ads. I'm seeing these blasted things every where, even here, and I also noticed them on Puppy Find, one of my regular advertising places. Even my own page on Puppy find where I go to edit and update my ads has these crazy things. I'm seeing them on practicly every site I go to now. I find them really irritating, especially when they pop up with only a quick pass of your mouse cursor. They block the information you are trying to read, and sometimes are hard to get rid of. Are people who own the sites getting paid for clicks on these things? What's the deal?

To answer this question, they are new networks that "don't annoy visitors." Whether you find them annoying or not is really up to each person, but some like them more since they are more related to the topic and aren't flashy banners. Others dislike them because they seem like real links but aren't.

Actually, this site uses (or used) them in the past for visitors that weren't registered/logged in.

  6. You really should link to the site here as well, since it's definitely on topic.I didn't realize Moodle had grades though -- interesting. I was looking into the system a long time ago but never really got into it, so I'm guessing it's evolved a lot.I can actually use it for a new project I'm working on though! Time to go back into research on it, :).

  7. Hummmm...he can find time for her but not you? Seriously, why do you not want to lose him? Does he make you feel special? Does he let you know how much he cares about you and respects your feelings? I think not.
Some things just don't work out. This sounds like one of those times. Move on to someone who cares about you.

This. I think too many people get hung up on relationshiops that just aren't going to go anywhere, when it'd be best to just drop it and move on. People are constantly being taken advantage of those they "love" because the other person doesn't feel the same way and uses them.

  8. I could definitely use tutorials when it comes to secure coding. I'm writing a CMS right now and have problems with the security side of it.Also, information on things like using classes would help (ex. classes for database queries, classes for outputting articles, etc.). I've been designing mine with... what is it, "procedural?" More or less just a lot of functions. I'd rather go with classes and such but don't fully understand how they'd be applied.

  9. I was tempted to make a good / bad behavior joke since Christmas is around the corner but in reality it is because OpaQue is tweaking the mycent script along with a lot of other things.
I will be making a topic about the mycents and a few other things in a bit.. Give it a day or two, everyone should get their credit.. Opaque decided to tweak the script so that it gives out a more accurate amount of mycent.. Just some testing going on to make sure that people are not over compensated or under compensated :)

Awesome information! I'd love to hear more about these changes and such. Especially at this point in the site's life, I think being more communicative to the community as to changes, effects, etc. is pretty important. It helps us see that things are happening, as well as better understand the direction and how they impact us as users.

  10. I'm glad you got your problems resolved (or so I think?) with the system! Getting new headphones is usually recommended just because different people have different listening styles -- for example, headphones I like my friends may not, and the ones they like I may not.Regarding how many songs it can fit, it really depends on the quality of the song rips and how much storage the MP3 player has. Most of my songs are around 3 MB's and I use an 8GB iPod Touch (which has about 6.5 usable) which essentially means I can hold over 2,000 songs before it's full. There are devices with significantly more memory than that though!

  11. Just a few days ago Apple's stocks went below 500$ which is quite big news.
Regarding the hardware and software environment... I've had the opportunity to buy the latest iPad last week for a more then decent price, but because of their environment I said no. It is a pretty big step for me... just like with my Kindle and the Amazon environment - you must really be sure you want to be a part of that environment before starting to buy all kinds of devices running that environment. Once you put in all your data, buy all that software and make all kinds of customizations (not to mention getting used to the OS) it's costly and complicated to make a switch. So when I'll take that big step I need to be sure of it.

I completely see where you're coming from. I catch on to technology quick so I'm able to adapt easily between different OS's and such. My biggest choice is whether or not I want to follow open source. While iOS definitely has some nice things, I sway a bit more towards Android just because it's able to be developed on by *anyone*. Not being able to write an iOS app without an Apple PC/laptop, for example, is a big turn-off for me.

  12. I'm kind of here and away myself again. It's mostly because the inactivity causes a perpetual cycle -- when people go inactive, others do. When others are inactive, more people do as well. And this cycle continues until it dies off (as it is now, where the people who actually take part are somewhat few and far between).I do still drop by from time to time though to take part in any discussions that have happened recently!

  13. I am a little leary about their games though, I have heard you can pick up viruses and stuff playing them. Anybody know more about that?

Technically you can get viruses from anything. There have even been situations where popular sites get hacked and end up with malware.

With that said, I haven't heard any issues with playing FB's games, although I think anyone is able to create their own apps and upload them (I don't think they have any type of "quality assurance" testers before you can take your new apps live). To be honest, it isn't something I've really thought about/worried about...

  14. Hey Aslam, welcome! One thing I want to bring up is that if you're here to get information from people, you should also try to share your knowledge as well. The collective group of people is what helps the most, and you surely know things others could benefit from knowing as well!Have fun and if there are any questions don't hesitate to ask.

  15. Okay, you can has my stuff, but just this one time.

    :D

The sad thing is that there are people capitalizing on this, selling things like underground bunkers that will save people from whatever happens.

I'd at least somewhat believe 12/21, if there were proof that something would happen, and what would happen. Just saying "the Mayans quit making a calendar" doesn't really mean anything. Plenty of people stop doing things for plenty of different reasons.

  16. This is some pretty crazy stuff! I'm wondering what the next step will be though. If we're able to get to the outside perimeter of the solar system, but most of the systems end up offline by doing so, it makes me question whether or not we'll be able to push further than that and get real information from outside the solar system as well (especially things like images).

  17. You are right RGP,As you seem to know, this guy pretended to be related with credit cards companies, impersonating by the way the hotmail's staff company (Microsoft).
Neither Microsoft, nor credit cards companies, including Paypal, nor domain resellers, nor hosting providers, and almost any professional or human being appreciate this kind of guys.
Here or wherever, police can't investigate every scams just because their resources are limited and that this scams implies international collaboration. This is the only reason, don't believe that you're aloud to do it.
You have mediums to act against if you wish so. You can do your own investigation, tell to every web companies involved in this process to pay some attention on that activity and if they want to provide you with some further informations.
If you get enough evidences, then yes, you can denounce this miserable to the police station closest to his house. And yes, they can do their own investigation properly and act as we expect them to do so!!

You know, I did some thinking about this for you and I have what might be a resolution.

If you're able to figure out who the person is and somehow prove it, you can try contacting their ISP. Their ISP should have specific addresses for scams/spammers and if you can supply enough proof they can shut down their Internet and ban them from future accounts.

In a lot of cases I think this is one of the most detrimental things. There's really not a lot of ISP's for most people, so being permanently locked out of one can make them think twice about doing the same thing again (think about it as being like a three-strike system).

  18. Dear friend just don't loose your confidence have a firm decision and go on. Rest everything will be according to your hard work. To be a good designer and site developer you could discuss your problems over here and search for contents for the solution of your problem online. But many a times just reading does not solve the purpose so you have to discuss the problem with some experts in the field which you could find many over here. Best of luck for your future. God bless you dear.

Thanks for the reinforcement! It's nice to see someone who's made it as well. It's definitely a competitive area to be in so being successful is a big feat.
