  1. Revenue sharing Social Networks

These kind of Social Networks share most of their revenue(from 50% to 90%) with their members and this acts like their marketing strategy because the increasingly number of Social networks improved the method to attract audience. Most of these social networks use motos like these to draw new members: Yuwie: Where it pays to socialize or Apsense: Get Paid to Promote your Business...etc.

How do they differ from non-sharing social networks?

Earnings. In terms of social networking service, nothing changes, they are the same. These social networks implement a script that measures or counts the page views a user's profile has achieved plus other activities such as the blog/videos/groups and depending on a variable(which can be unchangeable)like earn per pageview (i.e, 0.1$ per pageview), calculates a member's earnings.

Attendance. Hence to get in or participate in these kind of social networks no skill at all is needed-that is webmaster skills like programming or previous knowledge of markup languages for building web pages are not required(maybe optional). The only thing necessery to take part is having human communication abilities(non-social people are dangerous in a social network). In addition, talent to create profiles, blogs, discussions, videos may vary between people and that is the main feature defining earnings.

Features. Some paying social networks like Dada.net have evoluted and have enabled members who at the same time are publishers(have their own Google pub-id) to place their publisher-id number and get the earnings directly from google while owners share a percent of the clicks with members.

Programs. Some kind of script or feature that makes paying social networks differ are referral programs. That is, a program which is counted by levels and works in this way: You are given a referral link which you show to your friends and if they join, they join after your referral link and are counted as your first level downline. The same thing your friends can do with their friends and so on. In this way you can create a deep level downline and earn a percent of their earnings ( this is defined by the social network e.g, level 1: 15%, level 2: 10%, level 3: 5% and so on...).

    How do you get paid?

The most used payment processor is PayPal but as if Paypal isn't an international company - that is not all countries are allowed to receive money through Paypal- paying social networks pay their members via check. But previously you should verify if your bank can transfer the company check into your bank account.

In addition, you must be aware that all social networks have a minimum reach before you can get paid and this varies from 10$ to 100$.

If a social network shares 50-90 % of the profit with the users, I am sure it will not exist for an year down the lane... Or its quite possible that the whole profit itself is less than $ 100 according to the books. Ha ha ha... In that case, I am sure they will be more than ready to share that profit with thousand users and Got know how many users are there and how much money each person will get.

I do not trust any website giving away money for free for the users without a catch. If money were available like ocean, we can believe in that. So nothing is free... If at all there is something for free, it will not last long. Why would someone give away their money to others for free unless he or she is a lunatic or you must be in heaven to get that money.

  2. Some of them started asking for my version of the GPS watch via mail. Sorry guys. It does not work like that... Why?I want you to know that GPS Watch does not work like that. It relies on a unique identifier in the phone, so buying for one phone will not work in another phone. Basically, it uses the key to get itself activated and once activated, you need another key sent by the company to activate it again. This happened to me when I changed my phone and I had to get back to them for a key to be used in another phone.So... the best thing to do it to get the original software from the company. Also, I am sure they are adding lot of features and its always better to get it from them to have the latest version and to get regular updates. Also, I do not have the latest version as I have bought my new Phone - iPhone.

  3. This flickr (link below) page it too good. All you have to do is visit the link and wait for the page to load.
Do spend a minute on the page and you will know... out of the box.

I am not very sure as to how to categorize this. A panorama? No idea.

    https://www.flickr.com/browser/upgrade/?continue=%2Fphotos%2Fnorby

But the user has been very very creative. Taking these pictures is one thing, and arranging them (presenting them...) in way is all together a different art. nIce. Have fun.

  4. I found this article ot be a bit interesting and I had written about, but I thought I would give an extended view on it after the word of the Virtual XP not working so well with most computers.
Granted, that adding virtual XP on Windows 7 is a smart move and I bet that perk a lot of interest when RC 1 game out, but after the people tried it out, it would seem that most hardware isn't suitable to run it. However, it is noted that XP was not set up for gamers but rather businesses running custom applications that will only work for XP. So what does this say about Windows 7? Simple, for it to be effective operating system you need to buy yourself a brand new computer with Windows 7 installed, but that computer will either have to be installed with Windows 7 Business or Ultimate as I don't think it will come with Basic or Premium when it goes live.

On that point, it would seem that Windows 7 could pushers users to stick with XP still, unless of course they fix up XP Mode and maybe find away to allow games to run in XP Mode. Of course, we all know Microsoft won't listen on that point.

The information you have given here is going to be applicable to the final candidate that they will be releasing after a year or just for the one they are releasing for free for an year to anyone who can download and install... because, I guess lot of things can change over the period (which is one year here...) and I am sure only the best is going to be retained, so high chances that Microsoft will yield to users feedback and give them what they want...

So, I am not sure if it is ok to comment on these developments at this point in time... there is a lot of time for us to come to conclusions. Also, I have a hunch that Windows 7 will be a hit, after what Microsoft went through with Windows Vista. I am sure they will be filling in all the gaps left by Vista and add more robust and fast features, which is what users want.

But I do not understand about the Windows XP feature. Why do they have to do it? All they can do is provide virtual PC as a default software in windows 7 and leave it to the users to install whatever software they want. Ya... they are also admirers windows XP. :P

  5. Hey frens,

I am trying to call to phone through Skype but I don't know why I can't call.

I have no credit cards to purchase.

    Can I pay through check.

    Dear users of Xisto,

    just give me suggestion.

    -Reply by Arjun pun.

    Hi Arjun,

There are few ways in which you can buy Skype credits...

    1. Using PayPal

Paypal is an online payment service where you can use your credentials to make online purchase and is widely accepted across the internet. Creating a Paypal account is very easy. All you need to have is an email ID and a Credit card if possible if you want to do many transactions in your paypal account, else you can create it just with an email ID.

You can buy skype credits by using your paypal account, under the assumption that you have enough credits in your paypal account. You can add funds to your paypal account from your credit card or by transferring funds from other paypal accounts.

    2. Using credit card

If you have a credit card also, you can directly buy Skype credits and it will be on international transactions in your next credit card statement.

But I do not think you can pay via check.

For more information on various payment options, check the site.

  6. The are tons of programming languages out there. I have been a web designer for a while now and I am looking to finally take that big step into programming.

It seems that PHP is the popular one out now days but I don't want to waste time and energy on the wrong language.

It certainly can talk the talk

    Can it walk the walk?

Yes its definitely worth the effort you put in to learn. There are multiple reasons why you have to take up PHP as an important tool to learn and use.

    1. Its a beginning of new type of languages

PHP is a very powerful language and if you can master that, you will be able to master some of the other languages too. Meaning, you can easily adopt and start using other languages in your work without having to spend more time on learning it. The reason being the concepts used in some of the other kangauges are very similar to the ones in PHP. So.... learning them will be very easy.

    2. Support is very good

PHP is again one of the highly supported languages. From day 1 you will find help from millions of websites out there. Be it tutorials, forums etc,. you will not get struck anywhere during your learning and during your work. Everything has been tried and explored and you will always find someone who have tried what you are trying now and have also have a proven solution around it... So, its basically re-usability of the code from the others.

    3. Backend Support

Backend support again is very very good in case of PHP. Name a database and PHP has a packaged solution for it. So, connecting to a database and developing applications based on that is very very easy. There are also many packaged solutions for you to get started. Yes. I am talking about Lamp, Wamp -- Links below.

    https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html - Lamp For Linux

    https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html - Wamp for windows

    4. Its very powerful

This is the most important reason why you have to learn PHP. Its is very very powerful on par with some of the other proven technologies.... There are not so many things that you cannot do with PHP. Say for example, see Facebook, one of the largest web application using PHP and the most successful one too.

    5. Its compatible with other technologies

PHP is also very open and can be mixed and matched with other technologies like AJAX etc. Its compatibility levels are very high and seamlessly work with other technologies. You can have PHP and the database can be any one that you know.... So, you are free to choose your own available DB and do not have to stick to the ones that are costly.

    Hope this helps.

  7. hey i want to chat in school computer lab with my friends through lan.....

but i dont now how to do so through lan..........

our school computer is connected through lan and also its always ready....

but how to exchange message is what all i want to know.....

i think that this can be done through Ms-dos or something like this only....

if not then how to do so,,,,,please tell me

    thank you very much..............................

There are multiple ways you can do this... That again depends on the availability of permissions and other softwares in your school machines. I will list down all the possibilities, and you can choose from the best ones that works.

    1. Using netsend dos command.

Windows offers an easy to use command line option to send messages to others systems in the LAN - These are simple Windows Popup Messages / Net Send Messages (These will work in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003)

The biggest advantage is that there is no need to install any new software and no need to start any special programs to use this, The message notification service is always active and works perfectly. If you have not disabled the Messenger service in the services.msc window where it lists all the services that are currently running the system.

To send netsend messages, you need to open a Command Prompt Window ( START->RUN->CMD->USE ), and start using the NET SEND command.

    2. Using net meeting in windows.

Net meeting is a software that comes with the Windows OS itself in many cases. If you have that you can use it right away. All you need to do is to register yourself by giving some basic details like your name etc and you are ready to go. There will be a wizard which will take you through the details that you may have to provide and finally you will be ready to use the chat option in the software. But there is a catch here. You should know the name of the system to which you have to converse... So... if you have that you can use this option.

    3. Using IP Messengers.

This I think is one of the best ways. Have you heard of IP messenger? If yes, use that. If no, I have provide the link below...

    https://ipmsg.org/index.html.en

You do not need to install anything, but you need permission to run this. Just copy it to the system and run it. Ask your friend also to do the same. Once you open the exe application, it will list all the users using the application in the LAN. So it will show your friends system name in your system. You can just clink that and start chatting.

    Hope this helps.

  8. At the moment I am making a database for my friends phone contact information, I want to know how to make it so that I can type in the contacts Date of birth than Access can calculate the age. How would I be able to do that?

There are few ways of doing this... Of what I know, there are 3 ways..

    1. Have the age calculated and insert into the DB.

This I think is the most easy and simplest way of handling your problem. Basically, when you get the date in the front-end application (which is the form...) calculate the age and insert the age of the person in the database field instead of storing the date field. But there is a small problem associated with this... It will not get updated in the future and will be the same when the persons contact was entered... Say for example, you insert the age of a person as 20 now, it will be 20 next year also, but ideally it has to be 21. So... this option is not very good in all cases.

    2. Calculate the age in the DB and have it as a derived field.

Here in this case, you will store the date field in the DB and will also have another filed which is a derivation of the filed which has the data of birth. So, every time it gets updated .

    Here are the steps:

    1. Get the data of birth.

    2. Insert into field 1, which will hold the date of birth date values.

    3. Add another filed in the DB, which is a derived column of filed 1 and calculate the age.

    4. When ever there is a request, always take the second field from the DB and display it in the age form.

This second option will work in many of the cases... I do not see any problems here.. But make sure you use the right formula to calculate the age. :P

    3. Store the date as entered, but calculate the age during display

This is another way of doing this. You store the date values for the DOB as entered, and when you display the age field iin the application you calculate the age of the particular contact and have it displayed. This is again a fool proof method just that you have to take care of the performance of the application when you do this. If you are not concerned about the speed of the application, you can work with this.

What I mean about the performance is... when ever you want to display the age, so you have to calculate it before you display. so, that might be a little hindrance. But this is not the case with the first 2 ways of doing it. But again, the insertion might take a little time in the first way.

So, I would recommend you go ahead with the second way, where the user will not experience any delay and everything happens in the back end.

  9. There are many torrent application Eg.utorrent, bitorrent etc. What is the technology behing this torrent files?

    How it works?

Ok. For you to understand the complete theory on torrents, clients and how the protocol itself works, do read the contents in the below link.

    http://computer.howstuffworks.com/bittorrent.htm

But, if you want to understand the practicalities of it, I would suggest that you install a client and download some torrents... :P

Client: u Torrent etc. - This is what I use, but there are so many torrent clients out in the wild. Its up to you to choose one.

Need torrent files: Visit isohunt.com and search for what you want...

  10. What about Maxthon Web Brower..Any Problem with it?

Have never heard of it and it is you who made me search for the browser in google. Looks interesting to me... but for a browser that is there for more than 3-4 years... this is very less visibility. I am not sure people can report you with more insights and problems without using the browser for long... Why dont you give a try. Well.. that being said, I am downloading the browser and going to install it in my machine and may be after some time will provide you wis some feedback on what I think, What exactly are the positives in the browser and of course, the problems I face of any...

But I will miss firefox, when I use Maxthon... I am very addicted to the addons/ plugins that I am currently using, and its very difficult to get accustomed to other browsers without these small and useful addons. But these guys are incorporating some of the niche features that addons provide as part of the package that comes with the browser... say for example, there is an RSS feed reader that comes with the browser built in... This is I think is a very cool feature. Let me see if I can provide more insights after using it for some time... It has also received so many awards, which i think is another plus point. I am sure, parties would not have awarded the browser, without evaluating it on various categories.

Here is the link to the browser, if you are interested....
    http://www.maxthon.com/

You might also have to take an overview of all the features that the browser offers here in the below link.

  11. Pakistan President Mr. Asif Ali Sardari told reporters today that according to the intellignece reports of his coountry, Osama Bin Laden is dead. He added that he do not have any proof for this but just a comment between fact and fiction and as per intelligence inputs.
What do you think? Whether the death of Laden will be the end of Al-Quaida threat?

    Source: Geo TV

I have been speculating on this for over an year.... :P
I am sure if he is alive or something, he would have shown himself in the TV or released some video making controversial statements.... just to get the attention of the video and pass the waves. But nothing of that sort has happened, which means something is not right. So, I would not be surprised to hear that he dead...

  12. This are good news, but hardly a freebie of any kind, and to me is good to know, i have been using google talk but lately, i have been thinking to use pidgin as my ultimate multi instant messenger.

Ya. I know. Pidgin is too good. I have been using it for quite sometime now. Its very simple and has all the required plugins to get your things done.
The greatest advantage being able to sign into all your accounts at once and see all your friends... :P

But I was using it a year back and not very sure how much it has improved in features... Stability wise it is very very stable and I did not find any issues on that department. Though I have a small concern, like it clubs all the names/ buddies in your list, instead of categorizing it under the account in which you signed in. Sometimes it makes sense to separately have your office and personal contacts... So, Pidgin has to do some changes in that department... that being said, I am yet to become loyal to Pidgin. As of now, I am trying out different stuff and stick to browser based IM's (You know which application I am talking about...) B).

  13. I recently visited Gtalk (YEs. tHat tiny compact little IM from Google which has not got any real updates for more than 2 years now...) official discussion forum (link below) for some help. Was surprised to see that it is drowning with SPAM and no action has been taken for ages. I am worried to see, the state of "support" for a product by a company like Google.

It tells that the employees will provide some support from time to time, but mostly it is community driven. Though it is community driven, there will be moderators in many cases, who will make sure that the service is not being exploited and the users are in line with the policies. But its not the case with the Gtalk forum which is completely drowning in SPAM of different kinds.

    https://productforums.google.com/forum/?hl=en%23!forum/talk

I have sent a tip to Techcrunch (ya, the same old famous tech blog by Michael Arrington :P) to see if they can make a post on it and take it to the mainstream media to get some attention.

No sensible discussion has happened for long, which can be attributed to the release of updates, and after that its SPAM all the way. This is fine with any other small company, but not with Google. The worst part is that these spams are creeping into search results too which is very annoying and Google should definitely care about this.

  14. Hey everyone. I am currently trying to learn a foreign language and was wondering if you could tell me the best ways to learn a language fast. Obviously, it takes many years to really learn a language but I'm going to Italy and Spain this summer and I want to be able to converse in the native tongue. As of right now I can carry minimal conversations. Any help would be appreciated.

The best way to go about it is to start talking that particular language for all practical means.

  15. News Title: Foreign Spies Hacked into the U.S. Electricity Grid
News Description: This allegde foreign spies hacked the US electricity grid could be in fact foreign, but they could have been domestic too, us citizens i mean, if not, we are looking to a highly possible threat against the security status of the United States of America.

Day of the Event: Last wednesday

    Source Link: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

    ------------

Here is a quote of the news content:

    ------------

From what i read and know, if you hack successfuly to a country's electricity grid, you can really damage it quite well and effectively, because lets get to the point, without electricity, which is power, we could not do pretty much a very big percentage of things we normally do on a daily basis, including eating, having light at night, the computers would fail because they would not have power, et cetera.

But not only, if they somehow managed to leave a software or whatever successfuly in the grid, and if nobody sees it in time, the water suply could also be at risk, as well as many other infrastructures which need electricity/power to run effectvely, don't you think?

So if you are a US citizen, i guess you must pay atention to this news, to see if things are and will be in fact controled and managed and secured on the short, medium and long run/term, that's my advice.

Its a critical issue and a major concern US has to address at the earliest. The scope for exploiting such loop holes are very very high and its the responsibility of the authorities to zero in the issues and avoid such attacks/ intrusions in the future. More the automation happens in all areas more the need for security.

It does not tell, who attempted the hack. But its better to prevent it at the earliest.

  16. I am installing Apache 2 on Ubuntu Linux 6.06 (downloaded appropriate binary), and have followed the instructions from several places, including apach.org...

I have got to the point where it says to enter make, just after the ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2, where I also added --enable-mods-shared=most, for the common options.

That all went fine, took a little while, then when it's done I am supposed to enter make, I presume to gather up all the newly created files. This command just does not exist. returned bash error and it is not in the manual. What have I done wrong?

    Thanks in advance,

    >elrohir

If your ultimate objective is to launch some web applications in your linux box, which needs Apache, why do you have to take the pain of installing Apache?

I am not sure, if you are also planning to use PHP and mySQL as well for your application.

If yes, the best solution is to go for a package like lampp (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) which is customized single package which will install all the above said applications automatically without you having to roll your head over. All the settings on all the applications are pre-configured, so it makes our work easy on launching the application and concentrating more on the application rather than making it work.

I have provided the link for the package below.

    https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html

It might also help to explore more on the package itself. It is available for windows too.

All the installation instructions are provide in the site itself in detail.

I have been using this for over an year now and I think is one of the best so far...

I am not sure if there are other services like this, apart from Apache Friends (Their solution is one of the best... ). you might have to explore on that.

  17. I was just wondering what people's concensus was about this. What is the best distro for a web server, and why? I have heard people rave about Debian's stability. What about others?
What about desktops? SuSE is looking really good these days, but I haven't anything other than SuSE, Mandrake, and Knopix. Suggestions?

I do not think, you have to discuss servers and desktops separately. In linux, even desktops can be used for the purpose of a web server and It works quite fine. I have been working on such a set up, believe me, I have not faced any issues till Now. It also supports multiple simultaneous users and is quite stable. I you think you are facing some problems, you might have to install some extra packages, and that should solve the issue. As you know, you can get and install these extra packages very easily.

When it comes to distros, the core functionalities are the same... so , stability wise I will say, there will not be much difference.

Some of the best distributions I think are,
    Debian - of Course...
Fedora - Here there is a company behind it and under active development... So, its very stable and the community is quite good.
SUSE - This is one of the distros that is getting more light these days, be it features or UI, these has some of the best ones in industry. - Again, Novell is behind this distribution. SO...
UBUNTU - Ubuntu is one of the best distributions and their community support is very good. I have seen so many people recommend UBUNTU. I would also personally recommend UBUNTU, because of the help available easily and have spent quite sometime on that.

Finally, it comes down to what you want to do with your machine, distribution to be precise.
There are specific distributions for different users/ uses. Say for example there is a educational verision from UBUNTU called EDUBUNTU.

  18. Posted Image

if anyone can say me how to change this two icons. please.

or where can i found this icons. in which .dll or .exe

I do not think you can change this. Even if you can change, I do not think it will be as simple as changing the image in a particular location in windows.

Most of the time, these are very specific changes which will happen in DLL's as it is part of the the Core parts of the OS.

BUt still you should try and ask this question to any of the windows hackers. They might know.... because i have seen some applications (say for examples, some of the windows themes... ) that changes these default windows icons to flashy ones. So.. those hackers might be able to help you. You might have to post this question in those forums.

You can also give a try by posting in Technet - the Microsoft forum, where you will have so many certified professionals and they will be able to guide you better.

  19. Heyy everyone!!
So I'm working on a new site geared toward guys for once,
to come and talk about sports, news, and women of course.

Still have work to do but the basic site is up and running.
Please take a look and tell me what you think :)

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

OK. You need to improve on a lot of things in your website. First and foremost is the colors and combination of colors you have used in the website. Its either below average or very bad. Its not pleasing. You can better try other color combination's to see if it works better, for your requirement. I would also like to advice to use website templates which you will get in so many places around the web, instead of starting to work on it from ground up.

Please take your site to some mature stage before publishing or launching it. That will make the visitors come back to your site which will not be the case if it is not good and buggy.

  20. Really nice picture, nice colours and all that. I wonder where is this captured.
Also it'd be nice if you captured more pictures of this because you had an amazing opportunity to do that (if you haven't), or if you had you can post them too, I'm sure they'll be nice like this one is :)

Thanks a lot Miladinoski (if that is your real name. :P)

Yes. I did take few more pictures, but this was the best, so posted only this.
Some of the other pictures were also good, but did not want the viewers to do a comparison between the two, instead appreciate the best one... So posted only one.
