I use vlc player. I like 1. Simple and powerful 2. Controls are so easy -- volume up - ctrl up arrow volume down - ctrl down seek - ctrl right and left 3. Visibility is good... 4. And it comes with default codecs. So i need not worry abt that too... So.. i prefer and use VLC media player. Apart from that i also use Windows media player and real media.

Hi Guys, You know what an IDLI is? If no you should take a good read at the below contents... You should also follow the below link to know more about IDLI... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Not a single day /week would have passed without having Idli in most of the houses in Tamil Nadu, India. So let's salute the Taste of " IDLI " by having IDLI on Jan 20 as it's the Idli day. For more than 20 years Idli has been the main dish in the households of South-Indian ... let's join hands in making Jan 20 a big day for Idli. Let's take pride in spreading across the news of the day dedicated to Idli! I am not sure how many of you are aware of this day and i doubt even if such a day exists or it is being created this time... I got this by word from some friends of mine and they even went to the extent of spreading this through mails... So i thought i will just make a record of this in Xisto as there are many readers here. If you are from India that too from South India, you should have already tasted the dish. What would i say about IDLI? Its one of the best dishes and you won't feel bored for your lifetime... I have been having this for over the past 20 years and i know it is going to be there with for long long years . Did i forget to mention the side dishes that will/should accompany IDLI. I must agree that you have n number of options for that... you can have IDLI with anything and everything. In India it is mostly part of Breakfast or it is the Breakfast. Every festival or function you attend you will have no other choice but to face IDLI. Wishing you a happy IDLI Day in advance!!!

A very good article titled "Security Common Sense" in gnucitizen.org Below is the link to that article http://www.gnucitizen.org/blog/security-common-sense/ Website Link http://www.gnucitizen.org/ "We basically train a bunch of monkeys to click the yes button for every security warning." Don't you think many of us fall under the category? because most of the time we do not see what the dialog says, but press Yes, which might not treat you well sometimes... A good read.

This is a nice joke that emerged between us during a conversation... Thought i would share it with Xisto. Read below... and enjoy. Once upon a time a married couple celebrated their 25th marriage anniversary. They had become famous in the city for not having a single conflict in their period of 25 years. Local newspaper editors had gathered at the occasion to find out the secret of their well known "happy going marriage". Editor: "Sir. It's amazingly unbelievable. How did you make this possible?" Husband recalling his old honeymoon days said: "We had been to Shimla for honeymoon after marriage. Having selected the horse riding finally, we both started the ride on different horses. My horse was pretty okay but the horse on which my wife was riding seemed to be a crazy one. On the way ahead, that horse jumped suddenly, making my wife topple over. Recovering her position from the ground, she patted the horse's back and said "This is your first time". She again climbed the horse and continued with the ride. After a while, it happened again. This time she again kept calm and said "This is your second time" and continued. When the horse dropped her third time, she silently took out the revolver from the purse and shot the horse dead !! I shouted at my wife: "What did you do you psycho. You killed the poor animal. Are you crazy?" . She gave a silent look and said: "This is your first time!!!"." Husband: "That's it. We are happily married ever after. "

Recently one of my friends was asking me many things related to joining and getting admissions in various colleges in Tamilnadu, India. But i was clueless with respect to various procedures and processes. Then i did some research and found some things that i thought will help people in future... So... here are some of my findings and do post yours if you know more... How can a person apply to colleges under Anna Univ? For a person to apply to engineering colleges under Anna univ. he should go through the counseling (Single window sys..). Does all admissions comes under that univ? Not all admissions comes under Anna university. Some seats are held by the colleges itself and seats are allotted by them. For these seats you have to approach the college directly... Few best colleges in Tamilnadu 1. Anna University - (ie)- Guindy college of Engineering, Chennai 2. PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore 3. CIT, Coimbatore 4. GCT, Coimbatore 5. NIT, Trichy The above are the top 5 colleges in Tamil Nadu. Apart from that, 1. SSN, Chennai 2. SRM, Chennai and few more colleges are good... This link has all the colleges list -- http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ And i guess there will be no entrance exams from now on... It has been dropped and Single window system will happen based on 12th marks. If there are any updates they will let you know. what is this Single Window System? This single window system is what we call counseling where students will be called for admissions to colleges based on some aggregate marks. I think one needs to apply for that as well. Is it something like students of Tamil Nadu wud be given first preference and after that remaining seats wud be given to other state students? There is some quota and process etc for other state students... again i am not sure. But if you are applying to colleges directly, everything must be clear... That means you have to collect the forms from either the College itself ( where i want to apply ) or Anna Univ ( for getting admission into College of engineering, Guindy or any Computer Engineering department which is directly there under that university. ) ... What about AIEEE? Is that score not considered for admission into these colleges? No... AIEEE won't do any good here. How many years of gap wud they allow before joining college? This i tried to find out so much but was unable to get anything.... Someone should help on this. Hope i have addressed some things here...

DaaS (Database as a Service) is becoming the next big thing in Data Storage where you just call API's for all your data needs and forget about DB servers, configs etc. For more about this read the below links... https://aws.amazon.com/s3/ --> Amazon started this... http://www.softwareag.com/special/longjump/index.html --> Yet another provider These services are really really very useful in terms of developing and deploying web applications. Lots of issues like setting up new servers and configuring them, upgrading them will all together gets away in these cases... Very useful i should say... It was all started by Amazon, bigtime web service provider as far as i know, with their S3 - Simple Storage Service. Amazon S3 is intentionally built with a minimal feature set. Of course nothing comes free of cost... It comes with a price...Below are the details of the pricing. Pricing Great trends... Hi. I am new to wordpress. I am using blogspot currently.... That's not why i am here. I am in need of some help...I have a domain http://www.computerkindness.org/. A small non-profit organisation for helping sudents. I have setup a weblog to document our activities and to hopefully also encourage our participants to log comments on the activities of the foundation.Rather then just have links between our web site and our wordpress weblog it would be great if we could just set up a sub domain. Exactly who do I go about creating the sub domain and linking it to our weblog? Do I have to register the subdomain or just create it.I have also created a CNAME in my DNS entry like "news.computerkindness.org" and pointing to computerkindness.wordpress.com... But that does not seem to work. Help me please...Sorry but I am rather new to supporting the Web domains... Thanks in advance... Help me.

OpenID is used to sign into one account (Online) and use all services online rather than having seperate accounts in various services. Those who use LiveJournal (Blogging platform), must be aware of this as they introduced this. This is being adopted by many online service providers...In few years, it will be enough to remember only one ID and can be used across all providers... More info in the below link... http://openid.net/ Also, few days back (last week) Blogger also started to support OpenID. So, you need not have a blogger account to add comments etc in blogger or any other domain. Some of the openID providers as of now (This may/will increase in future as many vendors are supporting openID) AOL LIVEJOURNAL ORANGE etc. For more generic information visit the wiki page below. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenID Summary

Google moves ahead from organizing the worlds content to actually providing content. They are going to launch a service like Wikipedia... Its called Google Knol This i should say is a very big leap for GOOGLE. but as almost all topics are covered in Wikipedia, it would b more like an replication in KNOL. Also, this is more for money making so iam not sure how the response will be... but i believe there are millions of people who write if they get back something. So there is high chance that it will turn out to be success. We have to wait for... For more...read the below link. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

If you are owning a PC probably you are one of their customers in some way....He was letting me know about his manager's English... Here are a few samples for you to read and enjoy. The below sentences are exact things that came out from that person..."Initially attend every Q3, then rotate every meeting"."See, you look those angles and places strategies"."But how u decides those usecases ? Could be someone shd provides more light on that"."Params, meanwhile u keep ready all things needs his clarification""What we saw yesterday for current system only, pretty much similar things we implement in same manner.""First schedule a meetings, talk him about that, later come back, see how goes the plan""Is she called you ?" (actually meant: "has she called you ?")"Couple of more rounds may be usefuls to everyone""This db been built for that, pretty much work for the us""We not went into that level""That is when Comes back the data""Problem is there are short the time, so v assume things and moves on""U may be feels this is waste, but u see benefits later"Hope you enjoy... if you are having some funny instances as these do post it for others to have fun... :PHope i have made your day happy.

There is a new site (i stumbled upon...) that promises to help users remember all of the things they seem to forget. Do you ever see something you want to research later but always forget to, the newest technology, a new play, anything. I am one of the members who often fall under this category as i spend so much time online, i forget what i do mos of the time. Now you can text yourself reminders from your cell phone so that later you can do these things. Using Kwiry is simple, next time you are out and see something you would like to do later simply send yourself a reminding text by texting a message to 59470 (The message centre of kwiry where the actual text will be forwarded...) or send it to your email XXX@kwiry.com. Though i have not given a try personally, i believe from the reviews that they must be good.... They promise to do so... Later when you check your email or go to Kwiry.com you will see your reminder text and be able to follow up on it. They also have options to make submissions public or private. Public submissions will be shared with the everyone in the community. The site also has many fun features such as; adding friends, bookmarking searches, organizing kwirys into folders and categories, listings of recent kwiry?s, linking kwiry?s to social networks and sites, such as facebook and other social contact websites. When you go to your homepage you can see public recently posted kwirys, and friends who recently submitted. I would definitely recommend this website and i believe many will find some use for this... Give a try definitely... Post your reviews.... That will help others decide whether to use or not to... Below is the link to their website.... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ What do they promise

Hey... Its not GOOGLE that says to have backup. Its me. Just because i know many people who have very important data in their inboxes including me... For those who use mails only for forwards its not a problem. For some who have a very big archive of really really important data that adds some value to their daily routine, its very important o have some alternatives for DATA loss... Anyways there is no harm in taking backup if you can afford it (1GB in your hard drive...). I think many or most can afford that much for their data rather than worrying about it after loss... Also i won't say Paranoid... Rather "Preventive Measure".

I started to use firefox some 4 years back. I was using internet explorer previously and my knowledge was to the extend that i did not even realize that there could be a better browser. Then one of my friends introduced me to this facinating piece of software called Firefox and the only thing that he pointed out is "Tabbed browsing", which was very useful to me as I am a kind of person who browse through 100ds of pages at a time and IE was not able to handle me at that time. Firefox was just what i wanted. Then i went ahead and started exploring more about firefox and it has so much to offer to geeks like me...Now i have come to an extend that i cannot live without firefox and in the absence of firefox i avoid browsing. I always used to carry my portable firefox in my thumb drive so as to avoid using net without Firefox. Firefox makes my browsing easy and happy. If at all there is a piece of software that can be ranked 1 for the decade, my vote is to Firefox.I guess i forgot to mention the addons and features. Real Beauty !!!Also, when it comes to loading the pages faster, Firefox is again the best. So to be true i am in fact addicted to Firefox bigtime. So, what do you think i would have done with all the above?? i have recommended atlest 500-600 people to use firefox and in that atlest 200-300 of them have started to use firefox and getting addicted to it.. :PYou have a story to say?we are here to listen... So post your story. Notice from rvalkass: Moved from Mobile Phones and merged into the What Browser Do You Use topic.
