I work in software. I am faced with new things to learn all the time as an adult. Whenever I need to learn something new, I go to somebody who has done it before successfully. I am not on equal footing with the guy that has done it successfully because it is new to me. So it is at this point that I take their advice on the best way to proceed. Of course I can ask questions, but I don't expect to be on equal footing, no matter how much of an expert I may be in the field in general. That is all that is happening here. Adults have done it before, know exactly how you are feeling, and what you are going to face in regular everyday life. Yes, we all need to make our own mistakes, but they need to be the kind that won't hold you back a lot (like mentioned in some of the other posts). When adults are telling their kids to start earning, taking responsibility for their actions, to study hard, and to look for a good job, they are merely providing insight into the necessary skill sets required in life to be successful and avoid some hardships that can and do occur in life. Naturally,there is not equal footing because nothing has been proven yet. Why would equal footing be expected? Has the child done anything yet? Does the adult know that the child is likely to go through all of the normal rebellious and childish ways of dealing/coping with their problems? Equal footing is not something that is granted, it is earned. Credibility as an adult is established by a track record of proving yourself over time. Adults will give their children a chance, until they prove that they are not ready for it yet. Believe it or not, teenagers are often their own worst enemies when it comes to these situations. Instead of acting like adults, they strive for their independence by utilizing childish behaviors to get what they want. Some examples of this are lying, being secretive, not taking responsibility for their actions, blaming their problems on everything without truly considering the part they played in things, and playing the easier to get forgiveness than permission game. Much of this is due to the normal process of parents trying to instill good principles in their children, which hinder the actions that the children want to take. The teenager sees this as being held back from doing what they want to do, instead of seeing it for what it is: A guardian angel that wants the best for you and sees things that the teenager cannot yet see. The teenager is highly impatient, and wants what they want, when they want it (which is yesterday), and does not fully appreciate or realize that there is a long life ahead of them in which they will have plenty of time to do whatever they want. They should heed the warnings of those who have walked the path already, and take the best start they can get, instead of complaining about it. The adults are not holding them back, they are guiding them away from the sharks and landslides of the world and teaching them how to do the same on their own so they can have the best chance at true success. No the Mayans predictions never came true! They were a group of people who beleived suicide was the way to heaven. Its a fact! If the world is going to end, the world is going to end! You hear people talking about trying to find solutions about not dying. Like flying into space or moving in a different place. The mayans spoke another language. We don't even know if we translated it right. If someone came up to you and told you, you were going to die december 21 2012 you would kind of laugh. Even if there is some scientific reason why. On March 10th 1982 the Earth and the Sun were aligned and all the planets were on one side of the sun. Yet nothing happened. I am nt saying to not be scared but if the world is going to end there is nothing we can do about it! We have to deal with it. God put us on this Eart to enjoy it while we could. When you think about it if no one ever paniced and no one published these things in newspapers we would take it as it is. Its human kind who is making this happen. Its people who are saying the world is going to end! Even if the world does end by a flood or ice age, it will happen so fast you won't even know it. All we can do is make sure there is food in our cupboards so we won't starve to death. Because to me dying insantly is way better than dying of starvation in the basement of my home. How do we even know this will happen? We might aswell enjoy life as we can. In my opinion not the whole world will end, maybe just a small part of the Earth will. We might go in a great depression like earlier in the years. Who knows. But don't dwell on the future and make the best of what you can right now. Stop searching the internet for article on when the world is going to end, stop making your self scared and paranoid. answer: Cannot plug in your wireless routerWireless Router Problems.Things you will need besides the Modem & router: (2) ethernet cords/cables. (1) Manual/Software for D-Link Router (DIR-628) Disconnect power cables to Modem & router. Next connect the Cable to the Motoral Cable Modem. Then insert one end of the Ethernet cable into to the "Ethernet" port of your Motoral Cable Modem and the other end into the "internet" port of your D-Link wireless router ( DIR-628 ). and then with another ethernet cable insert it into Port "1" and the other end to your computer. Reconnect power cables to Modem & router. Do not try to access the Internet immediately. Wait a few minutes for Modem & router to access the internet for their IP info. Start up computer and open Internet Explorer. If you connect, Enter in the explorer address "192.168.0.1". You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. By default the username is Admin, and the password is blank. Click the Log In button to log in to your router. From there you should be able to set up your Wireless network. your wireless signal constantly dropping with your Laptop?Wireless Router Problems.I had a simular problem with my laptop connecting to my secured wireless router. When I powered my laptop it would connect, and after a few minutes it would suddenly disconnect. I would have to either reboot my router or my laptop & then it would connect for a few minutes, then again loose connection. To correct this problem I set my up NetGear cg814wg router to accept only wireless connections with trusted MAC IDs. In XP Home/Pro to get the MAC ID to your laptop goto "Start/Programs/Accesories/ Command Prompt". A DOS window will come up. Type In "IPConfig/all" Look underneath your wirless card description & write down the "Physical Address" , this series of letters & numbers is the MAC Address for that paticular card (eg: 00-xx-0x-00-00-0x). Connect your laptop to the router via an ethernet cable. In IExporer enter your router address (mine is 192.168.0.1) and depending on the router you have, goto "Wireless Settings". Then look for "Wireless Card access List" , "SetUp Access list" or something simular where you can enter trusted MAC IDs . Afterwards save or apply the new settings to the router. Disconnect the ethernet cable from laptop and try accessing the wireless network. In my situation this worked, and I have not had any problems staying connected.
