chronogamer28, if you can test it from your cpanel first, which is what you have to do to make sure it's all setup correctly, then it will show whether it's working, if not, then it's a fault that OpaQue would need to sort. cgi-sys is a directory not seen by your hosting, it's a feature that's given wide access to when incorporated with cpanel. Your chronoga.dat file is your file that has the data for the counter and what it's set at, this is what cpanel will reset when you ask to reset it. I know what you mean when you question cgi-sys, but you will have to trust me on that, as it does exist even if you can't see it. Cheers, MC

Have you ever wondered how to get those icons displayed in your address bar for your own site? If you do not know what I mean, you could possibly have a browser that does not support favicon.ico or you just have not noticed. If you visit Google they should have a favicon in their address bar, if it's not displaying just goto this place to get the idea of what it would look like, but in your address bar, it should show just before the http part but sometimes it does not show so what I want to do is show you how you can force it to be shown on browsers that support it. The programs we will be using: Any graphics program will do, for this I will be using MS Paint, although I recommend a program that supports transparency, or if you have MS Visual Studio you would have a program that can make the .ico file directly without using the conversion program. I'll be using this program Right-Click Image Converter which can convert most image formats to icons, but that's not guaranteed it'll work across all browsers, so we will create a more compatible icon. So download it and install it right now. This program is a 40 file conversion evaluation program, which is ample for what we need, if you like this program you should buy it. And an FTP Client, I'll be using FileZilla which can be found at SourceForge So open up MS Paint, go to Image in the menu bar, Attributes. We now change the attributes to 16 x 16 Pixels using colour, that's our limited size of our icon for the address bar. Now you need to design your picture, I'm just using this emoticon but I've resized it to 16 x 16 and it's not animated, now save it as favicon.bmp either a Monochrome bitmap, if it's black and white or 16 colour bitmap (wider compatibility) or 256 colour bitmap, which only a few browsers support. If I was you, 16 colour bitmap is the better choice but you may lose some colour from the file. Now we browse to our directory where we saved our favicon.bmp file and right-click on it and we should see right-click image converter in the menu, move your mouse over it and then select convert to .ICO this will now convert favicon.bmp to favicon.ico in the same directory if was converted. You now have the favicon.ico file you will use on your site. We then upload favicon.ico to our root directory on our site, public_html. So do that now. Now that we have done this, if browsers supported favicon.ico then this would be all we needed but sometimes it doesn't display. So to display it, I'm going to edit our index page. index.html to add this line in our head section of the file. <html> <head> <title>Our Title</title> <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico"> </head> The <link> tag is how we add it to our site, displayed in the address bar. Now open your browser, and goto that page is it showing up? If it is, we are done. If not, make sure that favicon.ico is pointed to correctly, easiest way would be to change href="favicon.ico" to href="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;, if it's not working, it might be your browser doesn't support it. Note: IE is very buggy supporting favicons, if you bookmark a page with favicons, it should show your icon in that bookmark. Well that's it for now. Hope this helps. Cheers, MC

does anyone else get a pop up before...
iGuest replied to Se?or Maniac's topic in Web Hosting Support
I've been getting that pop-up for about a week now. I figured it was because I have a cetificate check on and the certificate that this site has didn't pass, so it askes if I would still like to continue. I've gotten that pop-up on many sites before so I didn't think that much of it. Later, -- J. -
winflowers, is this software legal? Isn't it something like Kazaa? P2P? What is the status of this program? Can we use this without any threat of legal suits? You inputs will be helpful. Thanks Googlue! Skype is just as legal as using AIM to chat with any of your friends. The difference is that they use Peer2Peer Technology to allow you to chat. You're not actually song-swapping, but just using the power of P2P to allow you to chat audio-ally-ish?

Good game resources for puttin games on your site, plz help
iGuest replied to dollzfan's topic in General Discussion
I don't know about many javascript type games but i do know you can get the same arcade as here for ipb at ibproarcade or if you have phpnuke you can use Ultimate Arcade 2. Personally I would use the ipb games arcade, why do yuo just want games that can be played and not mean anything? Wouldnt you want a database which records top users scores etc???? -
Has that solved the problem??? Because it always helps to know if you are offering the right advice. Then this topic could be closed once resolved and this would help the issue of space on XistoI not trying to be annoying but it would help

It sounds like you didn't upload all the files if you use cpanel. If you didn't use cpanel reuploo all your files again and get back to us.

Logo (possibly!) Need your opinions..
iGuest replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I knew there was a good suggestion in that somewhere. Thanks for clarifying that better for me. Now I get what you're saying... Anywho, thanks for the suggestion. As I said, this image is still being worked on and changed. But hopefully the finished product is a lot more pleasing on the eye and it isn't as, um.., bright as it is right now. I will be updating this graphic soon, hopefully it looks much better then. Thanks again, -- J. -

That's the correct way to use that script, have you tried previewing it in your cpanel to see if it's working from there? It should open up a frame to view the counter, you can then ask for the HTML code and it'll display it, from there you just reset it back to 0 and then write the HTML page for it. A simple way would be <html> <head> <title> test </title> </head> <body> <img src="/cgi-sys/Count.cgi?df=chronoga.dat|display=Counter|ft=6|md=5|frgb=100;139;216|dd=K"> </body> </html> Test that with your site first, then reset it in cpanel and add it to your page where ever you want to set it up. Cheers, MC
-
Do you mean adding blocks to the opposite side of your phpnuke ??? Because that can simply be done through the admin configuration if thats what you mean
-
If you would like to post the script, I could help, or give me more detail on why it's not working, make sure that your cgi script is chmod 755, read/write/execute for owners and read/write for group and users. Cheers, MC

How Do You Install Acade Mod For Ivision 1.3.1
iGuest replied to MSTR's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have succesfully installed the arcade mod on ipb1.3 it seemed to be pretty basic editing your original ipb files (eg index.php, admin.phpetc..) I suppose I could do it for you its a pretty basic mod lol, just make sure you do all the edits correctly (thats probably your problem). -
There are simply download upgrade packs at Invision all that is involved is a sql upgrade (which can be done through phpMyadmin) and uploading of files (in some cases overwriting files on your site)

download a skin ( it shouild have set- at the start of it). Then upload in to your forums archive_in folder. You may need to chmod archive_in 777, styles_images 777 and i can't remmeber wahta the other folder is, it don't matter caus it tells you during the installation of the skin. Now you have uploaded it, goto you admin control panel and skins and template>import skin files (on the left panel). Your skin set should be their and select import on the desired skin. If succesful a success message will come up and you can go edit the properties under skins and templates>manage skin sets. If unsuccesful error message saying couldnt import will come up and terll you which folder needs to be chmoded to work, follow their instructions (normally chmod 777). After you have succesfully for security reasons you should change the folders back to their original chmod setting or how installation instructions instructed you too, if you installed via cpanel just goto Invision and download ipb1.3 to get the chmod settings to apply. Hope this helps
