...Lol. I'm not a king in everything. There is quite a bit I do not know how to do and/or need help with. But, if I do know how to do something, I'm more than willing to help out if I can. But I do try to be eclectic in the stuff I learn. I try learning a couple of things at a time, so anyone can do it, really... As for the image, yes. I did make it using PhotoShop CS... That program is a good one. I also you PaintShop Pro and Fireworks. All great image editors and each have their good and bad attributes. Later, J.

Well, I think that you shouldn't stick to some rules when you make a design, because the dsign of your web page is something yours, something individual. The best way to make make your site remarkable is to make it DIFFERENT. (And it's just the same in business. You know, the business is actually creating differencies, which should be considered to be the useful qualities of the product by the customers). But how can you make something different when you use templates, that are always the same?(Though article is useful anyway) )))

Personally, if you break someone's heart, the best thing you could do for them is to leave them alone. You just broke their heart, they are an emotional wreck. If you try to console them in anyway, you are asking for trouble and just confusing them further. Consoling heartbreak is a friend, parent, or personal issue. The person who broke the heart needs to leave it be and let it mend. Otherwise you will just create more problems and a bigger issue out of the entire thing. ... Speaking from personal experiance, you could give the best reasons in the world as to why you broke up with a person and still not make a dent in their heartache. Most people who have their heart broken would rather have you leave them alone and never see you again than have you try to explain to them why your relationship didn't work. But everyone is different and some may get angry, vengeful, ask why, ect... Later, J.

I'm not quite following what you are saying... Are you asking odomike or myself for a graphic? Could you be a little more specific as to what you want? Thanks, J.
-
That's a wonderful suggestion... Thanks. I will give that a try. Sounds like a good way to get more members. Hopefully it will work out well. My images don't work? What browser do you use? You are the first person who's mentioned my graphics not working... I would like to try and correct this problem.. Thanks, J.

It's always better to create your own flash menus. It often takes some time, but not more then trying to redo the flash menu you've got from somewhere to fit your needs... )))

The best way to create background music is surely Flash, because sometimes it gets really annoying, when you have two web sites opened and each of them has a background music! When it's done as .SWF you can put a function like "switch off the music" here. (Actually that's the first thing I do when I come to a site with a background music) ))))

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 is the best way to work with scrollbars and iframes. It has everything you need.
-
The best way is no to stick to one editor, but to use some of them. Sometimes it's more convnient to do some stings even with FrontPage than with Macromedia Dreamworks MX 2004 though I'm a fan of Macromedia too! ))))

the unwritten rules written down rules of webdesign

I've read this before and consider it copied. Please do not do this again. Link to site here -
You will need a server that supports ASP, the ASP interpreter, will process the code, output the specified HTML needed and display it to your viewers. That will be the only way you'd get it to perform ASP correctly, you would also name the file extension that of asp.So make sure your server supports ASP.Cheers, MC

First of all it's W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), they develop the Web Specifications with the help of Web Developers. I don't know what you mean by restrictions as W3C hasn't stopped my ability in writing pages, infact it increased my user-awareness so that more people could benefit from my site, and knowing that the site is in compliance with W3C means that a lot of browsers will support it. That's the whole reason of creating a standard, if we left Netscape and Microsoft to duke it out, we wouldn't see much when viewing sites due to browsers having different implementation and less support for their competitors. Programming Languages have their standards, ANSI/ISO create standards. These are people who are making sure that big companies don't get carried away and start implementing things that serve no benefit other than to increase their reputation and drive their competitors away. As with building your website, if you don't follow standards, a lot of your potential viewers will miss out and if you don't care, then do what you like, but if these potential viewers can be considered revenue then why not do your best to satisfy them and not big companies who probably don't care since they've already got their point through. We need standards, they aren't restrictions, they are guidelines, you can choose whether to follow them or not, but if you want to be respected more, that's what you have to sacrifice. Cheers, MC

You shouldnt need too much space triple X. Depending on how many addon modules and extra features you use your space required will increase slightly. oh yeh and depending on how many members you have your mysgl database can grow quite large. By the way anyone interested in phpnuke should get the following modules: Enhanced Downloads Module 1.7: From Nuke Styles NSN Sentinnel (great anti-hacking and ip banning module): From Nuke scripts Ultimate Arcade for PHP Nuke: From Ported Mods At the moment i am trying this real awesome mod of nuke which uses invision board instead of the default phpbb (ccaus i prefer ipb. This nuke is called ipbnuke and can be obtained with full chatserv patched 2.5 ipbnuke 7.4 from Ipbnuke Its really good caus i hav added ibproarcade 9the same arcade as Xisto and hav added about 30 cool new arcade games, i suggest people try this out. The only downside to it is that you need to alter your default phpnuke themes to run compatible with ipbnuke.

Help With My Phpbb Skin Wanna change the skin to a downloaded 1

Alright. Lets start at the beginning. What was the URL to your forums again? That would be the best place to start this walkthrough I think. -
Help With My Phpbb Skin Wanna change the skin to a downloaded 1
iGuest replied to odomike's topic in Web Hosting Support
I do believe that they meant, in the admin area beneath the "Styles Admin" category there is an "install styles" link. You will most likely find your style in there and can install it from the menu it brings up. Make sure that you copied the file templates/yourtemplate to the templates/ directory on your site... Otherwise, it wont be in the install area. --J. -
Your welcome. If you still need any help getting a new style installed for your forums. You can PM me and I could give you my MSN messanger name and I could walk you through it. I've been using phpbb forums for the better part of a year now... -- J.

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but there are way too many contrasting colours that do not flatter each other. Deep purple background, silver headers and black for the board background. It seems to look a bit messy... I don't want this message to sound like I'm just dissin' on your forum design. But you asked for an opinion of it and I've always been known for being brutally honest. So, I don't want you to think that I'm just being mean. Other than the colours, you have good topics.. Just needs a new template scheme I think... --J.

The impression of the keyboard in the background is an image I found while googling. I thought it suited the theme of a webhost, so I added it in. All I did was fade it out and add a colour mask to it.. I also put a fading gradiant over the image, behind the words... It was a very easy image to make... As for it being simple. That's the way I like them. I hate seeing banners that have too many images, words and animation to them. It just gets annoying and really looks like someone just started making graphics and went feature happy in their paint program. IMO... --J.

[warning] Russian Hostage Situation Not for the light hearted.
iGuest replied to Zenchi's topic in General Discussion
I, personally, am pro-life. I don't believe in the eye for an eye thing, the death penalty and most certainly do not want to have to hear about a young girl being shot to death. I don't believe the person or persons responsible for the young girls death should be put to death themselves. I think that it is still murder, even if they did kill someone else. I would like to see them imprisoned for the rest of their lives knowing that they will never be free again. I think that is torture in it's own merits... I'm very sad to hear about this girl being shot. I've only heard about the hostage situation in russia once, but never heard about this. I sincerly hope they catch whomever is responsible and justice is served. -- J. -

Create the database through cpanel in the mysql database section (eg nuke which becomes punit_nuke) then you must create a user (eg punit which becomes punit_punit) give this user full access rights to the database punit_nuke. NOTE: This part is all done through cpanels mysql database section. Yeh you can import sql files, its easy go to phpmyadmin. Then select the database you created on the left(eg. punit_nuke), then your database's inserts will show up (if you have any) on the right frame. Then click the button sql up the top in the right frame, then the sql import page comes up and browse for the file on you computer and select go. Your sql file is then imported into your database and all the tables and lines etc are created. (if it says completed succesfully) Now open your config.php file and make the following changes to the parts with ***. I will use the database punit_nuke and user punit_punit as examples. Need To Know The Difference between the different domain types
iGuest replied to spawn_syxx9's topic in Web Hosting Support
The unlimited subdomains in cpanelmeans you can have unlimited subdomains of your current account (eg punit.spawn_syxx9.trap17.com) which is handy for redirection to certain folders on your site.Parked domains are domain names (eg spawn_syxx9.com) which you have already purchased with another web company or Xisto.com thatyou use to make you Xisto account the server for the domain name.Addon domains are sort of like mini accounts you can give people usernames and passwords (as well as a redirect to another folder as well)Hope that helps
