ACTUALLY! I air dusted my laptop a few weeks ago (how long my laptop has not worked right), and...The heatsink fan just stopped working. I had it turned off too! I am hoping it's just the fan, because I really didn't have any real problems with it. I notice that it overheats sometimes too, even with the fan. When I set it on my lap..Or on my little desk lap think, I have to have the side with the fan hanging over so that airflow can get to it. How screwed up is that? -reply by Phoenix

Generating traffic and nested pagesHow To Make Website PopularFirstly... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ <-- there, that's for my ranking ;)Okay. If you are working on a website with nested pages and your web spiders aren't hitting them, then you should do youself a favour with google. Sign up for the google analytics account and check it out. It's possible to force the spider to start off at certain links. For example, if your website had http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ that was a nested page from the main index page, you can tell the spider to start off on the jokes one. And even list several nested pages. Google will figure it out and link them together helping you with your traffic. My site is still in the testing phase and I'll be launching an advertising campaign once I've found a few more people to help me with content.Hope that helps, it helped a lot with one of my client's sites. -reply by Stephen

Advice On Eliminating Audio Noise, Please?
iGuest replied to banjosforpeace's topic in Hardware Workshop
Yo! I solved it.I had the same problem, usb fan and mobo cross chatter.Solution I used:Fyi I have windows 7 and am using a realtek on board hd blah blah blah comes with every acer.Isolate your power supplies ground. To check quickly (and somewhat dangerously, please only do this temporarily) if this will solve your problem: Ground lift your computer (this means either using plyers on your power cables ground plug (the big one on the bottom (depending what country your in) and ripping it out) you can use any extension cable instead and ripp the ground off this as well and just plug you computer into it, this can be used as a tool to check if your problem is ground noise. If this solved your problem continue reading for a safer method.Using a regular grounded cable, make sure your computer is not plugged into a power bar, but instead straight to the wall, if you live in an old house you may even want to wire your own power from an outlet close to your breaker box (this is the shortest route to ground). If the problem comes back you can even go as far as redirecting the ground wire off your regular wire this means you have to strip and reshield/insulate it(plug it in wherever at this point) throw it outside your window (assuming you have windows, sunlight is a good source of vitamin d and this is important because we now drink grain fed cows milk instead of grass causing a shift in the nutritional values in milk... Blah blah blah) take this wire and stick it deeper in the ground than you got your pride stuck in a high school locker thanks to O Doyle.Other suggestions:-usb bleeds chatter by means of crappy cabling (or cheap because we don't need a high quality analog signal for digital transmission) remember those pink and green ports in the back of your computer? try and use them.-again on the usb topic if you have usb ports next to where you plug in your audio jack try not to use those, or move the lead up cables for the usb ports away from your audio card (if your using on board audio this may not be an option).-DUST! nuff said, avoid hot showers as your skin will be drier and shed and therefore cause more dust (assuming you shower). Why this works for other reasons than your sound card being screwed up:-your computer makes a lot of noise on the ground wire if your sound card was working fine and it was only the computers ground that was making the noise then if you plugged your stereo power into the same power bar as your computer your stereo would make extra noise, (holy cow my mind just exploded). This of course works the opposite way meaning that whatever your computer is plugged in with will also create noise for the computer.-DUST! nuff said, avoid hot showers as your skin will shed and therefore cause more dust (assuming you shower).Hopefully we can all put this behind us, I've run into this problem before I came to this site seeking help and for the most part (other than the usb suggesting, and shielding suggesting heroes) you all assumed the guy was dumb, and didn't have anything else to do but offer a "buy new stuff" solution. I don't want to buy new stuff, I bought great stuff already and my wallet shouldn't make up for my brain (although it does).Reasons to do this other than sound quality:-Longevity of digital equipment. (computers need silence too)Other solutions:-Most sound cards now have optical out, if you don't want to buy a new one and have a stereo that supports the optical feature, use it, this should get rid of the problem.-Already mentioned was external sound cards, someone said they still had the same problem with this and the only solution was to unplug his laptop, I just want to mention that this is where I got the ground being a problem idea, thank you my muse may your life be fruitful and without noise. This guy proves my point that clean power makes a difference. Unplugging your laptop is the same as ground lifting at this point you'd only be hearing the sounds your computer itself was bleeding into itself.-Power conditioning buy an uninterupted power supply (this will protect your computer from surges or sudden drops in power) or a conditioner. I'm not sure how these work (I assume they convert ac to dc then back to ac with a quartz crystal as the timer for 60hz, not sure though.)More solutions would be helpful, feel free to dump this on other forums of the same topic and see how it works for them. If it worked for you email me at:Jaredgrm@gmail.ComKeywords: -

Disk Indexing, Who Needs It? Turning off Disk Indexing
iGuest replied to thaichatham's topic in Software
Not sure I agree with "spacewaste" it should make no difference to his music folder load time as far as I can see because he is not doing a search the system knows where the files are from the filenames in the directory, ie the files are already indexed. I hardly ever do any searching so I think switching it off will improve things so I am switching it off. 99% of the time you will be indexing garbage. I can always switch it back on again if it seems worse. All microsoft applications are shyte IMO so the less running the better!! -reply by BresboKeywords: does disk indexing slow computer -
My Dearest Teacher how bad is when u fall in love with her.
iGuest replied to sanbeand's topic in Dating And Relationships
Im in love with my teacher. My Dearest TeacherOK...So I am a 17 year old guy high school student which has an adorable late twentys married english teacher, who is very flirtatious in class and downright sexy. I have been emailing her lately and I'm trying to pursue a relationship with her. I am deeply in love with her as I have never felt this way about any other girl ive been with before. Getting girls has been very easy for me my whole life as I am almost a master seducer/manipulator. If she talks to me after class about caring for my grade and in an email states that I should consider her getting-on-my-case-ness to have begun... with a =] after how should I take it? I feel tension between us when we are together and she said my name today twice to others and the second time put an exxagerated loud sence into my name, as if it may be her subconscience speaking out? -question by Cant stop thinking bout her -
Next World PowerThe Next World Super Power?Let's look at China for a moment, and take a look at their economy. It has been surging for quite a number of years now, and it would need to continue to do so for at least another decade to get into the same ballpark as the USA. USA's economy nets more capital than the next 5 countries combined. No country has sustained the economic success China is having right now for much longer, and I doubt they will be an exception. Also, their engineering and technology is still well behind that of the US and other industiralized countries. I doubt China will reach a super power status within the next 50-100 years. There are a few things that a country needs to do in order to attain a super power status. The first is to have a steady and growing economy. The United States is one of the most highly rich countries when speaking about products that are exportable. Another thing required is to have significant control of the seas. The USA has an almost total control of all watersand trade lanes across the world. This does not happen overnight and was able to be accomplished by the USA after WWII and the defeat of Japan in the Pacific and the turning over of strategically placed naval and air force bases from England to the USA. Another strong component that restricts countries from having a sphere of influence and growing into a super power, is th USA's strategic plans of prevening these from happening. When people look at wars the USA is involved in, it does not matter if total victory is achieved. The fact that we are able to create instability in an area prevents countries from establishing a sphere of influence and gaining power in an area. The USA has only been a superpower for just over half a century, history has shown that this status is attainable for much longer, and no other country in history has had the control of the seas and trade lanes like the USA has today. Not to mention, the technological development the USA is capable of. Space is another factor to look at moving forward into the future. The USA also has the most developed space capable technologies in the world, and it is not irrational to predict that war could fundamentally shift to space-based technologies in the future. advanced surveillance, hypersonic missiles, and space stations could all be very real in the next 50 years, not to mention the possibility of energy production in space to the tune of electrical based microwaves transmitted from satellites to earth. With that being said, I thing it will be very very very difficult for a nation to emerge as a super power under the watch of the very powerful USA. Countries would need to build coalitions in order to challenge the USA for a sphere of influence in a particular area, and as was stated earlier, it is in the USA's strategy and best interests to not allow this to happen. With no explanation behind it, the countries I think that will have the best chance of emerging in the 21st century are: Japan, Turkey, Poland. If anyone who reads this would like an explanation, say so and I will provide one. -reply by mike

Forza 3???Most Realistic Racing Game"forza motorsport 3 will be out in 2010 an will easily surpass all car games out there with over 400 cars" Hate to break the bad news but GT5 will have over 950 cars, with proper engine transfers (e.G. TT engine in golf mk 1) and a full damage model? so easily gonna surpass forza 3 no...?Other than that rFactor is fierce, phat mod scene but only worth playing if you got a wheel and a lack of licensed motors lets it down but in fairness its an underground project so what would you expect -reply by John Gotti

Cisco has amended this concept. You can now use "subnet zero". But just remember, 2^and-2, you lose the first (network address) and last (broadcast address) of each subnet, I.E. You lose 2 addresses per subnet. For example 255.255.255.252 would leave four bit positions open, yet only have two usable addresses. Booya!

I will never buy Hewlett Packard/Compaq again; my co-worker says itLaptop ComputersDon't think that just because it is a Blue Chip company, its products are reliable. That may have been true 50 years ago. But going by the way corporations are run today, in mercenary shark-like fashion, that is no longer the case. In fact, if anything, the opposite is true. Big publicly listed corporations that aggressively run after profits act like robbers, robbing any which way they can get away with, and they produce the most SLIPSHOD products. In this regard, don't BUY HEWLETT PACKARD/COMPAQ laptops! My Hewlett Packard laptop konked out from defective manufacturing three years after I bought it. The first two years, I hardly touched it. And the customer service was infuriating and incompetent. From what I read, others' experience with Hewlett Packard customer service is a NIGHTMARE. They victimize their customers. I thought it was only me. But a co-worker of mine said she had a Hewlett Packard too, and it "sucked." Needless to say, she no longer buys Hewlett Packard. I will never buy another Hewlett Packard. I know it is an inferior product. I hear that Sony, Toshiba are the higher rated ones. I heard Dell has nightmarish customer service, so I will stay away from them too, if there is better out there.

My wife and I recently had our San Diego home remodeled by Jackson Design and Remodeling. They did an amazing job that came in under budget and on time. We were incredibly impressed with their professionalism, too. We were very impressed with their San Diego bathroom remodeling images, that's what sold us. -reply by mn255

Another great text and turn based strategy game for free online is Kingsword (King Sword) at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. It's a wel put together and thought out game with a friendly and intelligent player base. It's a lot of fun and well worth checking out! Here is the preview of the game.. "The High King is dead; the lesser kings are vying for the throne. Will you aid them in their ambition or will you declare yourself king and claim the coveted Kings'world for yourself? " The choice is yours!

Hi there and thanks for the help. I have spent the last month plus trying to get emails out of the out box that kept sending themselves. I thought I had emptied the Sent box before because it showed as being empty, but after your suggestion I went back to Sent and clicked on compact. It took about 2 minutes to compact in spite of showing empty. I have tried two emails since and they both went into Sent. This seems to have solved it after many tries and checking Microsoft's site and elsewhere for an answer. I guess what you are saying is to find the Sent file and delete. Microsoft just suggests deleting the out box. You would think they would have this figured out by now or at least show a reasonable link indicating what the answer is if they know of this particular problem. All the best, Greg -reply by greg
