  9. Have a look at GIMPshop at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ which is the hacked version to make it a Photoshop Clone lookalike. However I do recommend learning GIMP's UI rather than this hacked version, you'll find tutorials do not go over GIMPshop and support will only be given by Scott M for GIMPshop, so don't expect support from the GIMP team on this, as it's a different project. As for pat32, there's minor differences in what GIMP can do and Photoshop can do, they both share similar tools, I believe GIMP's naming is correct than Photoshop, the layout however could have done better but as for power, they both achieve nearly the same thing. Only little features and probably the least common features anyone would use aren't there. However with all Linux programs, I do recommend following tutorials, don't expect laziness from the programs as some of Windows programs make you. Cheers, MC
  10. So i just got my iPod mini and the screen is now broken after 2 days, I didnt break it. You see there seems to be vertical lines where the pixels dont work and i need the email address for support so i can sent apple an email decribing my situation. i mean i just spent 250$ on this thing and now its broken. I don't know wat to do. if you can provide me with any suggestions then please post.
  11. i cant believe you think there are people out there that visit this website but dont know about CS. I mean cmon almost everybody knows about it. Its has to be one of the most popular not to mention best video games of all time. Oh yeah i dont think there is anyway of getting around the steam program. You have to buy a code because the half life people are really strict about people copying games.
  12. It's alright. I heard it can be kinda scary in some parts. I'm always down for a scary fps game. I hope I can rate it at least an 8 or higher though. Multiplayer does all the talking, and if it doesn't talk, it gets hit >_< *saves money to buy*
  13. I think paper thin is going way too low. It's a giant leap, yes, but how durable can it really be now. I rather have a plasma tv or something like a flat screen, but never paper thin really. I just don't see the point in that if it's not going to last very long. I'm sure others will find it useful somehow since they can afford to waste their money after it breaks in a year or so. Just really now...oh well, everyone has their opinions...
  14. I think u can search in the google serach engine and u will have great resultsgood luck !!
  15. Well, it's Microsoft we're talking about, aren't we?! But seriously, I think it's a good thing that they delayed the release date. Seems to me that MS is actually trying to finally produce a workable official release, that doesn't require an immediate patch or service pack. Nevertheless, we're going to have to wait and see for a while. So cheers!
  16. A Linux user looking for ways to set up boot logo, which I hear is only applicable on Windows. Makes sense! :)Anyway, Quatrux, BootSkin only works on Win2k and WinXP. Naturally, the same goes for StyleXP and ThemeXP, except only on a handful occasions. So if you, OragnicBMX, are using Win2k or WinXP, these are the ones for you. But if you're using an earlier version, here is what to do... 1. Open a new BMP file, with 256-colors and 320x400 pixels. 2. Design what you'd like to see in your start-up, waiting, and "it's now safe" logos. 3. Save your files as logo.sys, logow.sys, and logos.sys, respectively. 4. Put the logo.sys file on the root of your Windows partition, and the other two inside the Windows folder itself. If you don't want to do it yourself, then search for these logos on the Web. You'll find dozens of them. The placement is the same for the files you download, too. Now, when you power up, restart, or shutdown your computer, you'll see the effects.I hope that helped.
  17. Sounds quite interesting. I wish I can get my hands on a translated version of the Free Culture - Free knowledge lecture. This is a subject by which I'm veritably fascinated, being a huge supporter of free information myself. I do my views on the subject, though.
  18. Hey Weapon. I never said they actually DID install illegal software. I only said I can't see how they could give the guy BOTH NAV and Spysweeper without a license (I assumed since he didn't mention one) under any other light. Don't get me in trouble, man!
  19. Oh God, Oh God, too many typos! Sorry about that, Knight, I'm sort of sleepy right now. But I believe you got the jest of it, right? BTW, when I said... I meant to say, I think it weird that "Programmer" doesn't have C in it. It was meant to be subtle witticism, but it's grossly ruined, thanks to my inadequate typing. I hope that helped, anyway. Good luck, man!
  20. Ah, the usual beginner question! Don't get me wrong, I don't mean this badly. Let's see... the first thing to consider is why do you want to learn programming! Being a programmer for your local community projects differs from being a programmer from Apple. Both are naturally different than doing it as a hobby, or for working freelance. Since I don't know anything about your circumstances, I'll assume you're doing this for fun, hoping it can build up into a business. Fair enough? Alright. Let me tell you first and foremost that Programming IS, regardless of what programming language you may choose. By that, I mean that the main concepts of programming remain the same in every language; it's how you implement these concepts that makes a language different than another (faster, more effecient, easier, etc.) This is a major source of relief for beginner programmers, since they can start out with a relatively easy language, and later move on to more complicated ones depending on their conditions and circumstances. One of the easiest PLs out there is - arguably - BASIC. BASIC is an acronym for "Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code..." Sounds a little complicated for a beginner, doesn't it? Well, I assume Bill Gates came up with the acronym first and then tried to work out a meaningful sentence around it. Anyway, this is a very easy language to learn, and it contains most of programming concepts. But it's too obsolete, some might say. I sort of agree. That's why many programmers-in-the-making opt for Visual BASIC. It's a huge step from its predecessor, and it works with Graphics more than with actual code. The HUGE downside is that it works SOLELY on Windows, nothing else. People might say it's Microsoft's way of monopolizing the market, and they might be quite right, but I digress. Another fairly easy language is PERL. PERL used to be the absolute no.1 language for the Web, and it has been the no.1 scripting language (which a fancy way to say "programming" in certain occasions and environments) for UNIX (which is one of the greatest Operating Systems of all time, IMHO ). It works across many, if not all, platforms; it's versatile and can be easy to learn of worked at regularly; it's totally free; and it's supported with loads and loads of tutorials, sample code, Websites, etc. It's still pretty much in use today, but even if it wasn't, it'd still be a great introduction into programming. I trust some will disagree, but that's my opinion, anyhow. Since I believe many will add their own opinion about the right introductory language, I think you'll have lots of choices, Knight17. But ultimately, if you want to be a programmer worth the name, you have to learn C, sooner or later. Personally, I think the word "Programmer" doesn't have C in it. As you go along, you'll come across numerous information about other programming languages, their advantages and disadvantages, their uses, etc., and so you'll be better qualified to make an educated choice about your programming goals. Trust me when I say, programming is a fun ride, if you're up to it. Just don't give up too early, ok?!
  21. I think that one of the most leading Image Hosts on the web is Imageshack.us

  24. Just so you know, guys, I never said other adware-removal tools were useless or totally crappy. I simply introduced Bazooka here as a light-weight alternative to the other tools, geared to the technically-inclined of us. :blink:Bazooka's online malware encyclopedia is so comprehensive that anyone looking for information on a certain malware will be ecstatic to find it.But, again, if you're using another tool or, better still, two or three tools at a time, and your system can get away with it, then all the more power to you.
