  1. That's because you are using Firefox. Use Maxthon instead. It works just like IE but without the security holes and spamability. It sports a very nice tabbed interface for the web pages and above all, IT'S FREE!!!! http://www.maxthon.com/ Check it out and you will see what I mean. I guarantee you will like it!

  3. I have been playing around learning some PHP scripting and I have downloaded an xampp package to allow me to write the code and test it locally on my machine. Plus reading some books and findng scripts on the Net works if you take the time to analyze them rather than just cut and paste.
  4. Hi everybody, Just now I have got a nice link Hedir Website Checker. As the name implies, this will check your website in terms of the following: 1) Spam Checker 2) Duplicate Checker 3) HTTP Status Checker 4) Validate Code 5) Validate Links and much more! Actually, it is not an independant web tool, but an integration of different tools already available in the web. However, I think, it deserves a visit atleast for its Spam Checker Tool( in Beta form). Regards, Sid
  5. On the topic of w3c Standards as it relates to SEO, I have a comment or two which may be of some value. One thing which writing 'Standard Compliant Code' does, is force the separation of Content and Style. For instance, the use of CSS files is Standard Compliant. Using them properly, the styling is removed from the html page and the Bots do not have to wade through it to determine the 'Content' on your page. They like that, apparently, so if for no other reason, validate your code for this reason alone. And having the embedded and inline css removed from the page makes the file easier to debug and read yourself, so that is another reason to validate. Along the same lines, validation removes the deprecated coding found in many 'older' web sites which are proprietary to the various Browsers and which do not neccesarily work in all Browsers, so that is another good reason to validate. As to the problem you were facing with the slightly re-positioned div's, lacking a fully compliant and valid DTD, the Browser you use to view the page would only be guessing about certain things ( google on Quirks Mode )and including a proper DTD takes the guesswork out of the matter for the Browser. So, be sure to use a correct and complete DTD at all times. As the Browsers used by most clients today are likely 'newer' Browsers, they will behave more consistently as they read a Compliant page of HTML, whereas, a page without a complete and correct DTD will be open to interpretation. As to the right DTD to use: There is little reason to use Transitional or Loose Doctypes, ( and NO reason for Framesets ), I find it just as easy to target for Strict as anything else. And this results in fewer Hacks in my CSS. Of course, until IE decides to use the Standards, we'll have to continue Hacking out its deficiencies (vis-a-vis the Standards), but using a Strict Doctype seems to help here as well. (As a technique for switching doctypes for IE, I use use the MS proprietary Conditional statement.) These are my comments on the Topic. I only hope it helps someone to understand the issue better.

    Hello

He's from the East Coast. They actually speak like that... :POh, ya, Samuel, Welcome to our little corner of Reality. Lots of good stuff here to enjoy.Don't forget to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. It helps us Junior members learn the right techniques and proper ettiquette. And read the rules. ( they are mostly common sense, so shouldn't be too difficult. )
  8. i have my screen on 1600x1200 at 76hz and when i used winamp it came on so small so i double sized it but the play list refuses to double size so it looks goffy and i can barely read the songs.. is there a way to get the playlist to grow? kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f kjarty Phetermine asanvernhjm aasd fjofhwefh sdsdhd4f
  9. Thanks Quatrux, your suggestions helped me a lot. Now that PHPSESSID is no more there. Also I think, putting "php_flag register_globals off" in .htacces file, would turn the global variables off. As I have used global variables, so it was just not ideal for me to do like that. Still thanks to you Hercco for your suggestion. Regards, Sid
  10. Thanks for your reply. And I think, I have got my answer in your post. It is clear that there is no DOCTYPE declaration for PHP. Depending upon the output, I have to choose an appropriate DOCTYPE. Anyway, I have a specific question regarding Google Adsense and HTML validation. Please look at the code for Adsense for Searches: <!-- SiteSearch Google --><form method="get" action="https://www.google.com/custom&%2334; target="google_window"><table border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td nowrap="nowrap" valign="top" align="left" height="32"><br/><input type="hidden" name="domains" value="http://www.domain-name.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t;...... "</input>" tags that it contains do not seem to comply with HTML standards. The "<br/>" tags are not XHTML compliant. What to do with those tags? Regards, Sid

  14. Games I'd like to live in:I'd love to live in an FPS game, but when they don't use proper rounds, like paintballs or something. Especially if it's online, you could meet all your friends and sort out some tactics with them. The Sims might be fun too, get a robot to do the housework, stab your voodoo doll friend, earn £250 every day without a promotion. You could tell if your friend was unhappy or not because the plumbob (yes, that's it's real name) would be red.I'd also like to be in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle because of the Chao there (I love them). I'd walk around in Tails' massive robot thing with a horde of Chao behind me and I'd be grinning from ear to ear.Half Life 2 would be cool. You could get a hormone pod and have a lil' army of Antlions behind you, they're like pets when you get them.Games I WOULDN'T like to be in:Anything pink and fluffy, simple as.Something painful.Something boring. *Cough* Harvest Moon *cough*Anything school oriented. That's it.Tailson out.
  15. How much does that cost exactly? It's gotta burn a hole in your wallet pretty quick. I mean yeah it sounds fun and everything, but there's a lot of ongoing costs to pay, electric for example. Why not just settle down and play chess with a friend or something? It's fun, to an extent, you can talk. Also you could make the game more exciting by making them eat a red hot chili pepper every time they lost a piece. Haha... That was so funny.
  16. I placed the final image...excuse me if i was late.
  17. Ignore my previous topic called "Need help with Dogs of the Seas", feel free to delete that by all means. After finding a nice tutorial somewhere, I have come to the conclusion that this is quite likely the most addictive online multiplayer game ever! It's real-time with things lasting a few hours, like a few other games, but unlike those games it's not text based, it's really interactive.Me and a friend are hooked on it, and I thought some people here might like a go on it. You can go around on missions either fetching, delivering, scavenging or fighting things. As ou sail you might meet a few other players, and depending on your location and level, you can either check their fleet size, trade with them, or if you're in deep waters, attack them. Even though I've never experienced a battle myself, I've heard tat the system is pretty good.Go on, try it! And if you do, drop in your username here so we can talk.
  18. Hi everybody, The thread "How to add Adsense Code in SMF" may not be helpful for experienced web-publishers who have already nurtured Simple Machines Forum a lot, but I think, it will be helpful for anyone who has installed Simple Machines Forum recently and who is considering to install Adsense Code in Simple Machines Forum ( SMF). Here are the steps to show Ads just below the header section. First of all, locate the file index.template.php. Now goto the following section: Note the HTML just below that: It is a table to show logo, user information and menu. Now find following line: Finally, insert a new table row and paste Adsense Code there. <tr> <td colspan="2" valign="middle" align="center" class="tborder" style="border-width: 1px 0 0 0; font-size: smaller;"> <script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "YOUR PUBLISHER ACCOUNT ID"; google_ad_width = 728; google_ad_height = 90; google_ad_format = "728x90_as"; google_ad_type = "text_image"; google_ad_channel ="3949701292"; google_color_border = "336699"; google_color_bg = "FFFFFF"; google_color_link = "0066CC"; google_color_url = "006699"; google_color_text = "000000"; //--></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"> </script> </td> </tr> This will show Adsense Ads just below the header section. To show Adsense Ads at the bottom of the webpages (above the footer section): Locate the following lines in the same file i.e. index.template.php Below that line Type the following code: echo ' <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3" border="0" align="center" width="95%" class="tborder"> <tr> <td align="center"> <script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "YOUR PUBLISHER ACCOUNT ID"; google_ad_width = 728; google_ad_height = 90; google_ad_format = "728x90_as"; google_ad_type = "text_image"; google_ad_channel ="3949701292"; google_color_border = "336699"; google_color_bg = "FFFFFF"; google_color_link = "0066CC"; google_color_url = "006699"; google_color_text = "000000"; //--></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"> </script> </td> </tr> </table>'; Now the Ads will be displayed both below the header and above the footer section of the webpages. Regards, Sid
  19. At school everyone is constantly finding ways around the "Bess" block. A good way used to be to use Babblefish to translate an English page from Japanese or something to English. That got blocked after a short while. Now the most commonly used way of getting around it is to use a cgi-proxy, they keep getting blocked after a week or so, but everyone finds more. We're never in short supply. Some of my friends have even made their own proxy, so there's a nion-unlimited supply at hand.Parental controls in my eyes is just a minor annoyance, even this site's blocked at my school!
  20. as mentioned in another topic here, this technique works well to "standardize" tool tips between browsers since each browser handles them a bit differently for allowable length, etc. Uses pure CSS instead of scripting and is fully customisable for colours, size, location, etc. Tooltip Alternative Method *edit for typos*
  21. Somewhere on your Index.html page, you can place a link to the log-in script by using an anchor tag. ie: <a href="login_page_name_here.html">Log In Description Here</a>or another way is to have the log-in script include as a portion of the index page. Inside a div, for instance. Most scripts will be written in PHP or some other scripting language, so there are things you might have to change in order to get the log-in script to be parsed correctly. The most typical way would be to modify the .htaccess file to parse all html pages as php. It is simple enough to do. Search on this Forum for ".htaccess" (including the period) and if you need additional info, post back here.
  22. You can make your own sea with this tutorial! At first make a new page (1024*768) then press D to fix colors now go and run clouds filter from here: Filter >>>> Render >>>> Clouds Now follow this ways: Filter >>>> Pixlate >>>> Mezzotint >>>Long Strokes<<< Filter >>>> Desort >>>> Shear Now make the line like this: * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *BE CAREFUL ABOUT THIS!!!(So Important) Filter >>>> Blur >>>> Blur More Now make a light like sun light in the right corner of page. Filter >>>> Render >>>> Lens Flare Fix the settings like it: Lens Type : Movie Prime Brightness : 240% or more Now Press Ctrl+Shift+N to make a new layer then make a beatiful Gradient as sunshine lights. Change the layer to Overaly & fill the opacity of Gradient 60% If you think it is ready to use drag it from left top corner to in front of it. You can make some birds with brush tool. If there is any problem say & ask me...also if you need some picture. And The Final Is This:
