New Site Dessign using only CSS for the style.
Inspiron replied to moldboy's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I've visited both your demo and current active sites. As for the demo site, there's alot needed to be done. Of course in comparison, your active site is alot better.Like what others say, the color combination doesn't match. Maybe if you like green, then you would mix it with black to give it a more IT style or something like the matrix. The green color should also be brighter, more to lime color. Dark green just cannot fit your page with black background. As for the banner, you may like to add some glowing effects to the text on the keys. That will enchance the overall look to the page. Remember whatever colors you choose must follow your site theme. A good page does not have more than 4 colors in the theme. For this rule, you have done well in the demo page as I can see that there's about 3 shades of green. For the content, I would say the alignment gives a big problem. Why is the title text so big? Why is the title's left alignment not the same as the content text alignment? There's a suggestion that you can follow. The title font size should only be 2px more than the content text font size. For example if your content text font size is 12px, your title should be 14px. Anything bigger does not make your site look professional. As for the content, there should be a little gap from the left green vertical divider. The content text should also follow the same left alignment as the title text. Remember to justify your text as it looks neater. For these alignment matters, it's better to use CSS margins and paddings as it will be pretty accurate to manage the content area of the page layout.Likewise for the left navigation text, there should also be a little gap from the left divider. The mouseover color change of the background looks perfect however the text looked weird somehow. Try bold all navigation text as it will prioritise the overall text layout. If you have any CSS problems, feel free to ask it here. We'll be glad to help..Have fun modifying your site. -
At first I though it was another lame and crappy program that was buggy for it's name. I didn't know why I've downloaded it a few days ago. I tried it and to my surprise, it worked and it's interface follows closely to FlashGet. Most importantly, it's a free software. The only problem I find is that it cannot import broken downloads from elsewhere and continue the download within the program. It worked great for other features. I'd recommend this software as well. If you like FlashGet, you'll like this..

I've not heard of the iPod Tripod until I've searched on Google. More pictures can be viewed here http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics-gadgets/ I was quite surprised that the tripod stands actually doubles as speakers. Very innovative. I wonder what is the power source like. If it's powered by batteries, then it's just a short-term portable stand-cum-speakers. Anyway, very nice idea from the creator. I just hope more 3rd party stuffs will come for Creative products. I just don't see any yet. As for Apple, there's alot..

Thanks truefusion for helping me out. I've seen the preview. However it's slightly away from the orginal design. I would like a little more detail to the design with more transparencies involved. Take alook at the orginal template, what I really like about it is the top left part where there's transparent layers and at the back are in more detail in terms where lines and curves are added. In this request, I'm alright with similar concepts just that I want to have more glass vista look, glowing and 3D features. I don't feel good not giving you the credits if you've done an amount of work for this. Anyway, we'll look into credit points later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Participant: truefusion Status: Pending for design modification

I've read a few articles from the google search. From what I understood from those articles, the speed of dual-core processors does not mean the sum of both processors, basically because there isn't two processors in it. Actually, there's only 1 processor which is able to handle multiple tasks in a single time slot. It simulates 2 processors in it. What is actually happening in it is that the task is splitted into multiple thread pipelines such that more jobs can be processed instead of having 1 pipeline in a single core processor. Tasks will have to wait for the one before to be completed before it gets processed. Hence single core processors takes longer time to process data. It's like a human being having 1 brain, but now both left and right brains are working together simultaneously. Hence ultimately, there's only 1 brain. In dual-core processor, its just only 1 processor. I might be wrong as I'm still new to multicore processing. You may like to refer to these articles that I've read. http://icrontic.com/article/dual_core http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/homepage.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicore

In short, Xisto.com is a shared hosting as all our webhosting accounts are hosted together in a server. However, multiple servers are added to share the workload does not mean it's no longer a shared hosting. If Microsoft owns her own server and host all microsoft related sites on that particular server without hosting any other non-microsoft services, then that is a dedicated hosting. In short, the entire server is built just for Microsoft sites.Correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh yes.. I didn't find this thread and so I've posted a new thread. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/35839-127001-last-login-in-cpanel/ I've got this same problem as well. I was surprised.

I just login to my cPanel and I saw this. My last login was from an IP adress 127.0.0.1 I was like... huh? What's going on?

Other than computer related troubleshooting, there could be a problem with your ISP, Comcast, which I've heard that is unrealiable. I'm not sure which country does this ISP belongs to. There has been threads on this board talking about the negative points of Comcast. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/35802-comcast-is-working-its-way-to-my-bad-side/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/35813-comcast-cable-just-horrid-service/ I'm not a user of Comcast hence I've no say in any about the service. Perhaps you would like to browse through the reviews by some other fellow comcast users.

Non Responsive Servers. Had been some time already.
Inspiron replied to Inspiron's topic in Web Hosting Support
So what is it then? ISP problem? Or is it that our ISPs doesn't have a good link to Xisto web hosting sites? By the way, when the problem occurs, Xisto.com, Xisto.com and all other Xisto main sites are still working. Only our webhosts are inaccessble. I've also noticed that during that time, some other webhost accounts on Xisto are still accessible, while ours, or at least mine, does not. Although I'm unable to visit my own sites on the browser, I'm still able to ping my own host directory on command prompt. Hence I don't think it's the ISP problem. I've just tried to visit rvalkass's webpage. And here's what I've got. I've refreshed it 3 times before taking this screenshot. -
Tsw Webcoder Anyone use this html editor?
Inspiron replied to rldowling03's topic in Websites and Web Designing
According to the screenshot from the webpage, it looked professional for a HTML webpage designing software. Pretty nice with PHP and MySQL integration to suit most needs of web masters. However it seemed resource heavy. Here's the link to the software. http://www.tswwebcoder.com/ -
I've tried before making my mobile phone as a modem. It was when I've subscribed a new broadband service, and that time, I don't have internet service in my house. Hence I had to use the my phone as a modem. It's very slow and very restricted. Like what you've said, many stuffs and services doesn't work well. We can as much use it to surf simple webpages only. Hence I don't think FTP would work with your mobile phone as a modem.Regarding about the filesize that you've said is 4MB, it could be that a limitation which your mobile phone can handle or a restriction from your ISP. I've not heard of any of such restrictions yet. As for the cookie issue, you've actually used a proxy service to surf your webpages. Hence the cookies are actually stored on the proxy servers, not on your computer. Some proxy services allows you to edit the cookie configurations, such as deleting cookies, or editing it's expiry dates etc. Hence configuring cookies on your browser would not work as it's not in effect.Anyway, mobile phone as modems are dead slow. Why continue using it if we've got broadband services? Unless there issn't any broadband services subscribed then we'll use mobile phones as modems. Moreover, it's extremely expensive on that low bandwidth network connection.

Nice templates. If you know how to make a vista glass like template, it'd be alot better. Good to hear that. Will you be interested in this? http://forums.xisto.com/topic/35681-template-re-design-request-by-inspiron-glassy-3d-effect-design-required/ This thread was posted some time ago but has no activity. Hope you will be the first one.

You site is currently inacceseible. You had your files deleted from your host directory. The link provided by xJedix gives a very detailed and reliable login system to your site. Otherwise you can try hotscripts. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

One Red Paper Clip A paper clip traded for a pen traded for ...
Inspiron replied to mik's topic in General Discussion
What is this? This guy traded a red paper clip for a pen, and then traded that pen for something else? It it goes down the line trading until he got something big? He's very lucky to do that, as those who traded with him might be doing a lost in the trade.I've not heard that in local news. Rather it sounded too crappy to be true. -
Do you meant this search box? I don't think snlildude87 was refering to that. He was refering to the box that suppose to appear on the top right cornor of this site, like what it should on Opera and Firefox. By the way, yes I've got AdBlock on Opera, but not on Firefox. Hence I see Ads everywhere on Firefox. Neither do I have AdBlock for Internet Explorer.

Somehow I don't really like that validator. I'm not sure if any site will appear errorless. Try validating google.com or yahoo.com. Even these websites have tons of errors on the validator. What other sites are perfect?
-
Hey that is very nice. I like that menu column. It gives a nice vista like glass look effect on the top banner. That was what I'm asking also in my template request. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/35681-template-re-design-request-by-inspiron-glassy-3d-effect-design-required/ Is your website done with AJAX? I seem to load the pages without flickering. The content simply just appear without a glitch. Impressive I could say. Here's a suggestion on your photo gallery. Instead on opening your pictures in a new window, try loading it in a more professional way with Lightbox. Check it out here. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

If you created those MP3 songs, its perfectly alright to upload on your webhost. The point of the rules stating that you are not allowed to upload MP3 files is because mainly Xisto doesn't want to be a public host for free download of illegal music. Hence if the MP3 that you intent to upload is from a movie, it's better not to do that. You can always use free upload services provided on the web. Such as Ripway ( http://www.seektoexplore.com/?dn=ripway.com&pid=7POF8BU45&_glst=2 ) or YouSendIt ( https://www.hightail.com/ ) You can also check out this thread for more upload servers. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/28525-all-the-best-free-uploads-servers-a-great-list-check-it-out/

I used to have Norton AntiVirus and switched to Norton Internet Security some time ago. However I find that Norton programs are taking quite an amount of resources and load time. My boot up time doubles after Norton was installed. It's a very obviously change on the delay after installation.Since then, I've swapped to the free antivirus AVG. Working well till now. Of course in comparrison, I still think Norton AntiVirus is better, in a way more secured. But AVG simply loads faster and doesn't take alot of resources. You can still surf the net or even edit a picture on photoshop while scanning your system with the full system scan on AVG antivirus. I doubt you can do that on Norton. It will simply make your computer dead slow in response.

Non Responsive Servers. Had been some time already.
Inspiron replied to Inspiron's topic in Web Hosting Support
Hey itssami, I've tried to visit your site at Pakdir.com, the same error message showed up as mine. Your site is virtually inaccessible as well. Probably it's some overloading issue to the servers when it gets too many hosting accounts?
