  1. I have just noticed another side effect of the recent server migration. On my web site I have a comment form. After filling in the form the user gets a confirmation email and I get an email to tell me someone filled in the form, and showing me the data that were filled in.First of all, I got all emails twice, but I think I managed to fix that in the PHP code. What is worse, though, the user still gets his/her confirmation and thank you email, but, instead of my email address, the From: field now gives an aaddress on the server my account is on, ie. the gamma server.Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Please tell me I do not have to fiddle around with the PHP to do that (I only have basic knowledge, made the form with Coffeecup Webform maker).I hope I can do it with changing settings in my Cpanel.Any help will be much appreciated.

  2. I am posting this here rather than in the 'Web design' topic as it seems to be something which happens exclusively to my Trap 17 web site.
When i have my web site open, which you can find here, every so often (quite regular actually) a short and high pitched beep is sounded.

At first I thought it had something to do with my sound card or my PC, but recently I discovered it only happens when I have my site open.
It does not matter which page of the site I have open, or whether the page has multimedia embedded in it, I get it regardless of the page I am on.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? It does not happen with any other site I have made, or any other site I surf to.
It is even a bit annoying getting this beep every so many seconds.
Can anyone offer further advice on this?

    thanks in advance.

  3. Thanks, turbopowerdmaxsteel, what you PM'ed me works. There is only one more problem now:I use a program called QIOS to access my MySQL database which stores the people who have subscribed to my newsletter, and then the program sends out the newsletter.I cannot access my MySQL database anymore, although it is set to be accessed from my IP address. This might be the last suggestion I need to get completely up and running again.

  4. I got a reply from Xisto today that my site was up and running again.Yet, when I surf to it, it will not load, also, my email client keeps telling me the POP3 server (the one related to my domain) timed out.My Cpanel will not open neither. On my son's laptop (on the same network, hence same IP address) the site loads immediately.Has anyone got any idea what the problem my end could be?Thanks.

  5. The problem is, I don't know whether the free Xisto accounts are on shared servers or what, nor do I know which server my account is on (gamma, delta......)
I wish i knew whether I have to change my DNS settings or what, at the moment my settings are:

    DNS Check ResultDomain name vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk
    IP Address (A-Record) 64.69.46.210
    Name server 1 ns.computinghost.com
    Name server 2 ns1.trap17.com
    Name server 3 ns2.trap17.com
    Name server 4 ns2.computinghost.com
    Mail server 1 vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk, 0

Is that OK or should that be changed? If so, what to?

It is good that we get such a big chunk of information, but it is very technical.
Hopefully I can have everything up and running ASAP.

  6. There has been a change now (for me anyway).Yesterday I could still access my site, today I can't.Still no chance of accessing my Trap 17 CPanel, no email.I wonder what the regular visitors to my site will think. In a ticket I raised, Xisto asked me to give them my domain, and they would get in touch giving me all the IP address details.Hopefully it does not take as long as their previous replies.

  7. Yes, it is a mess, isn't it?Fortunately, my web site still loads. (At least it does on my machine, I have not asked anyone else to test it from a remote computer yet). However, I cannot access my Xisto cpanel yet, have not been able to do so the whole day (and now part of the night too), and I still cannot send/receive email from my domain name email. Not only that, the Xisto SMTP server does not seem to work either.Very annoying, as I have newsletters to send out, do updates to my site, etc.I managed to get onto the live chat on Xisto, and the rep there said (that was roughly an hour ago) the senior administrators were dealing with the router. He also said they would reply to my ticket (only raised 15 hours ago) as soon as they got a result.Getting really desperate now....

  8. Hi,
I tried to update Mozilla Thunderbird (email client) from version 2.0.04 to 2.0.012, especially because the older version was not functioning 100 % anymore.
However, when trying to install 2.0.0.12, a few seconds after the install start screen I get the following window that pops up:

    "---------------------------Mozilla Thunderbird Setup
    ---------------------------
    Error opening file for writing:

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozMapi32.dll

Click Retry to try again, or

    Cancel to stop the installation.
    ---------------------------
    Retry Cancel
    ---------------------------"

After getting this I first renamed the .ddl in question to "mozMapi32.dll1", I got just the same. I then just deleted the .dll, but the message keeps coming back.

The other thing I tried was to just remove the old version of Thunderbird, but when I go into Control Panel=> Add or remove programs and then click on "Remove" unde Thunderbird, the Add/Remove screen just flashes and that is all.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? And, more importantly, does anyone know of a solution?

Any help will be very much appreciated.

  9. I have experienced the same thing since this morning (9.oo am GMT, it is now almost 7 pm), the only thing is, my site does load, but it is only since about 2 hours ago I can access the forum here, before I constantly got the message (I use Firefox as my browser) "This site is taking too long to load". When I try to access my Xisto Cpanel, the login screen appears, but ends up in giving me an empty white page.I can ping my smtp server (the one in the name of the domain I have hosted at Xisto), but when I try to send email I get "Unexpected failure, please try later", the same when i try to access the Xisto SMTP or POP3 server.I am glad someone mentioned the announcement on Xisto, as, since I raised a ticket with them many hours ago, I never received a single reply. This is all highly annoying and I really hope it will not go on for much longer.I am very fortunate I finally managed to access the forum so i can add a bit of credit.

  10. Hello derryck,Learning martial arts via a book or video or the internet is not easy, though not impossible. The first place to look could be Youtube, and typing 'self defense' or 'martial arts' or whatever style you are looking for (karate, tae kwon do, judo....).There might be some tutorials there, there are some good ones on Krav Maga (you could try typing that in). While I do understand money is an issue (it is for most of us these days), it is still advisable to learn martial arts under a qualified instructor for a number of reasons. You could also Google for what I just mentioned regarding Youtube, and see what you come up with.Another good idea might be to search some ebok sites, where youy might be able to find some free ebooks on martial arts.Let me know whereabouts on this planet you live and depending on where that is I might be able to advise you slightly further.

  11. The thing is, he was educated in a military academy, ie. he aspired to become a soldier, then he has to do his duties like anyone else.Or do these people, just because they were born into the right family, have different duties compared to anybody else?Just like you see prince Charles and prince Philip on official occasions, wearing a beautiful officer's uniform, is that what a military uniform is for then?To parade with on state visits and the likes? On the Queen Mother's funeral, even princess Anne was wearing a Navy uniform, the first time ever she had done this. That woman has never even seen a military school from the inside. Just ridiculous. And, to come back to the subject of Harry, does anyone really think for one second that they are going to post him behind enemy lines or in an area where he runs even the slightest risk of being injured? It is about time that whole hypocritical circus, called 'monarchy' was abolished. It is nothing but an expensive anachronism, which costs us hundreds of millions every year.Besides, the only difference between them and us is that their ancestors were bigger bullies, aggressors, murderers and thieves than ours. After all, they are born exactly the way we are, except with more media hype. So, why should these people be so privileged? Let them work for an income like anyone else, even the interest on their fortune (which us and the blood of the ones before us gave them) is enough to see that whole bunch through for the rest of their existence. And, if Harry wants to play soldier, let him do it like any unprivileged lad has to, and hopefully the army won't catch him using dope (or they would probably sweep it under the carpet in his case).

  12. What do you mean, 'it is the highest level - They've gone as far as they can go'?

(I am speaking for karate, not sure about Tae kwon Do).

In my style (Shotokan Karate), you do indeed go up to black belt, but then it really starts. You get to your black belt and become Shodan (first Dan), but then you go on working to get Nidan (Second Dan, the level from which you can become an independent instructor), Sandan, Yondan, Godan and so on.

If they really think karate stops at getting your black belt, they are either totally misinformed or they have completely the wrong idea about karate.

Karate is an art that should be perfected for the rest of your life, and don't think that, after getting your black belt, there is nothing more to learn, because I can assure you, there is, and lots of it.

  13. Thanks for your comments, gentlemen.
One more thing: is it possible to display that 'Record' field?
    Ihave seen the SQL Query

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `table_name` WHERE 1
rvalkass posted, but not 100% sure how to display that (probably using PHP).
You see, I have put a petition on my site, everything works perfectly and I display the result of the petition (bar the people's email addresses) on my site by using coding that was made with PHPRunner.(A program that generates PHP code to do things with a MySQL database, I used the 'printer friendly' page to display the list).

However, I would like to put something at the top such as "xxx people have already signed the petition" or to put a number (1,2,3,..... all nicely numerically ordered) next to every name, although the first solution might make more sense, ie.saying how many people signed, and have this automatically updated every time someone new signs.

As you can see, my knowledge of PHP is not yet strong enough, which is why I have to rely on programs like PHPRunner and the likes.

Anyway, thanks for your explanations you have sent in so far, and apologies for my ignorance.

  14. I hope I am on topic here (It does have to do with web design, after all).I have noticed that in a MySQL database, the 'id' field just keeps its numbers for every record, with the backdraw that, whenever you remove (a) record(s) from the table, you get your list numbered as eg. 1,5,6,7,12,25 etc. This makes it a bit difficult of keeping track of the number of records in your table. Is there a way of achieving (either in PHPMyAdmin or through the use of PHP) that the id field in your table gets sort of 'refreshed and updated' so you have a clearer view on the number of records in your database? What I mean is, imagine the highest number in your 'id' field is 221, that does not necessarily mean you have 221 records in your table, as some records may have been removed. So, if anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
