  1. I see that they now have Internet Explorer 9 out. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded to it, and how is it working? Are there any bugs or problems with it? What are the changes from IE 8? I ususally hate changes, but I'm having some problems with my email, Hotmail, and one of the recomendations for fixing it was to upgrade to IE9. Did I mention I hate change? I just figure out how to use something and then they go and change it on me and I have to struggle to figure it all out again. Drives me crazy.
  2. Varmit update. We were squirrel free for 2 whole days. Then hubby comes trucking back to my office with the gun telling me he was back and since he hasn't had any luck, he wanted me to try. I guess I'm a slightly better shot with a pistol than I thought I was. I pulled the same trick the old man did, shot that apple right out of his little mouth. Our little pest layed low for another day after that, but talk about nerve, he was back again today, and this time he brought company! There were 2 of the dang things out there today. Guess he needed one to act as lookout while he stole the apples.
  3. Yes, I would say that you are definatly lucky. And the good thing is you have realized it while you still have a chance to be with your parents and can do something about it. Maybe you should leave your DS (whatever that is, I'm assuming some sort of electronic game?) more often since it gives you a chance to use your mind for more constructive comtemplations. Your mom is super lucky too. Brain aneurysms are bad news. I had a good friend that had one, a young woman in her 30's and it ruined her. She survived, but will spend the rest of her life in a nursing home as she is just not able to take care of herself anymore. The big problem is she is still well enough to think she is ok and will be able to get out on her own, and it is making life even harder for her. She is pretty miserable.

    Hi All!

Welcome Rammy23. Welcome to Xisto. Just read threw the many topics and jump right on in. Enjoy yourself.
  6. Well, I could be wrong, but I think you have it all wrong. It's, "A long row to hoe."Anyone who has ever worked a garden can tell you how long and boring and tedious and difficult it is to hoe a row full of weeds in a garden. Therefore, when you have a long and difficult task ahead of you, you can say you have a long row to hoe.
  7. Well, ok, maybe he's a little too old for an Amber Alert, and maybe it's too soon to put his face on a milk carton, but where the heck is Anwiii??? Haven't seen him post for days now. I do miss him. He was always good for a heated debate and lively conversation. Hope the heat wave here in Missouri hasn't gotten him down.
  8. Wildlife can be fun to watch, intertaining and all that, I enjoy watching the rabbits in the yard, and I have a fat squirrel that lives in the big walnut tree in the goat yard, which is in the Komondor's feeding pen. I see him snitching some dog food on occasion, it doesn't bother me, he really isn't going to eat that much, so it's no big deal. But sometimes wildlife can be a serious nuisance. Such is the case with the pesty damn squirrel we have at the house now. We have 2 apple trees out in front of the house. They have the very best tasting apples in the world on them every year. But this year that nasty, obnoxious little rodent has stripped every single apple off one tree, and has nearly all of them off the other tree now. I bet there's hardly a dozen apples left. I wouldn't mind much if he just helped himself to a few, but this is riduculous. I am really pissed off about it. I went in search of my 22 rifle, and found it in dire need of cleaning, and not fit to shoot with. So we had to resort to the 22 pistol. Now, sad to say, I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a pistol, so it's left up to the old man to shoot the dang squirrel. And his eyesight just ain't what it used to be. The first few shots went way off target. But he is getting closer. Yesterday he pulled off a really good shot, actually shot the apple right out of the pesty varmits mouth! But believe it or not, the little SOB came back again! Talk about nerve! Hubby did find some rat shot shells for the 22 and last night he thinks he hit him. Anyway, at least he hasn't been back today. Squirrel is god awful tough meat, but in this case, I think I would make an exception and fix up a big pot of squirrel and dumpling for dinner. Got to have something to make up for all those apples we won't have this year.
  9. Oh not only no, but HELL NO!!!This is pure animial rights propaganda at it's finest. (or worst actually) Why should a human give up their rights to freedom and privacy just because they want to own an animal? Allow a 3rd party police rights to come into their private homes and check an animal? I think NOT. It's crazy ideas like this that are causing us to loose more and more of our personal freedoms every day. Besides, if you have read threw this thread, you can see that there are definatly different opinions as to what constitutes cruelety. When the true agenda of the animal rights groups is to end all animal use, wether for food, fiber, companinonship, or entertainment, how can you ever think they would not take any pet away they had any kind of chance to confiscate for any pathetic little reason?
  10. Oh, yea, I guess people do fly in planes too don't they? I kinda forget about that sometimes. I tend to think airplanes are just for puppies. I've never flown, but have sure flown a lot of puppies! So economy and economy+ don't mean much to me. Cargo is cargo, it all flys the same. I suspect frequent flyers and other businessmen and women are probably more likely to shell out the extra dollars since they have to spend so much time on planes, and being cramped and not having leg room is no way to have to suffer.
  11. ROTFLMAO.... HA HA. Today that would probably be me! My pool sprung a leak, no air conditioning in the house, and heat index up in the 100 degree mark. So yea, that makes me really hot!
  12. I guess I will have to be the odd man out on this topic. I really don't care much for musicals. I like watching the sotry lines develope in a show or movie, and tend to get bored when they stop the action and start singing. The only exception to this would of course be Rocky Horror Picture Show. It is just freaky enough and funny enough I didn't mind the singing parts.
  13. Well, this Ark Music Factory sound to me like a company who's time has come! With the popularity of TV shows like American's got Talent, this sort of thing of finding new and previously unkown talent is becoming a very popular pastime for a lot of people. Of course, sifting the wheat from the chaff can't be easy. I've watched a few episodes of the preliminarys for Americas got Talent, and they had some REALLY bad preformers on there, I remember one who couldn't even remember the words to the song she was trying to sing. It could get almost painful to watch some of them! :rolleyes:You know, until you mentioned not having comedy shows anymore, I just realized that you are right, there hasn't been a good comedy show on TV now for ages! There may be a few shows on these days that are an attempt at comedy, but they don't even come close, to me, most of them are too stupid to be funny. Maybe it's just me, but I think TV has really gone down hill the last few years. These "reality" shows boggle my mind. I mean for crying out loud, what is reality about a bunch of back biting 2 faced whinny, strangers all getting together and living in the same house or on a deserted island somwhere? Just doesn't fit into my theme of reality.
  14. The law is the same here in the USA. If they have a sign up as an advertised special, they have to charge you that price. So you can prevent this common rip off, IF you watch closely. And I don't think it's limited to small shops or places you don't usually visit, Walmart is certainly not small and you have to watch them too. I think where they get people is that a lot of people are not going to go threw the hassel, and believe me, some cashiers can really make it a hassel, by argueing with you, or making you and everybody behind you wait while they send someone to check the price, or call over the manager to change the bill because they don't know how to fix the cash register to change your reciept. In the meantime all the people in line are glaring at you and getting ticked off, and there are just some people who can't stand the hassel and don't think it's worth the aggrivation for a few cents. Since this seems to happen to me on a pretty regular basis, I'd be willing to bet this is a pretty common occurance. People should really watch what's going on when they are checking out of any store.

Well, I will certainly agree with you that spending more than you have is indeed a very bad thing. Unfortunatly, it seems to go on from the bottom all the way to the top of society. From the people with low paying or no jobs who think they should be intitled to drive a late model car, and watch satalite TV on a big screen, to our government who thinks they should spend money and squander it like mad by funding riduculous projects, like wars, or useless government organizations. My better half's father had a saying, "If you want something and you have the money to buy it, go ahead and buy it. If you don't have the money to buy it, get over wanting it as fast as you can." It's a shame more people don't take this to heart.
  16. Last year I strung some left over odds and ends packages of flower seed of a few varieties I had not ever tried to grow before along the fence out behind the kennel, away from the normal main flower growing areas as an experiment. I was also trying to keep my 2 different colors of Cosmos speerated, as I have an orange cosmos and a red crest cosmos, and they look nearly alike so if they were in the main flower bed I couldn't save the seed seperatly. The Red Crest Cosmos did well back there, but I never saw anything else come up. But this spring I noticed a pecular looking plant right square in the middle of the planting space that didn't look anything like the other weeds that had sprung up, so I left it growing. Eventually it started putting on blooms, and turned out to be a really pretty plant, but I'm not 100% sure what it is. I think it is an Echinacea. I looked them up on line, and what has me confused is that the description online of Echinacea says the blooms come up on straight individual stalks, but my plant does have some branching of the stalks and flowers on the ends of each branch. Here's a picture I took of my plant.I also saved a picture that I found online of an Echinacea plant. You can see the individual stalks pretty well on it. In the pictures, the purple plant looks darker, but in real life my plant has flowers that are the same color, and I took this picture of mine while it just had the first flower, it's covered now just like the one in the other picture. And then, to add to my confusion, I found this other interesting plant up front beside some dog pens where I have never planted anything other than some Cherry and Hazel nut bushes, and in years past, Canna's for shade for the dogs. I wish I had gotten a picture of it a few days sooner, it had some really pretty flower stalks on it, with mostly white flowers, trimed with light purple strips. Sorry, it's not a great picture. But I'm hoping someone can recognise it and let me know what it might be. I sure don't have a clue.
  17. Number 1 gets my vote! Hands down. He is ambitious, hard working, and if he is good to the child you already have, that has to take presidence over some lazy joker that just wants to party and have fun. Number 2 sound petty, lazy, and self centered, to the point of being arrogant. Can you imagine what his reaction would be if your child got car sick in his fancy car? What do you think he would do about that?
  18. Selfish is not the word that comes to my mind when I read your description of this guy. I'm thinking more like pig headed jerk would be a better description. It sounds like he doesn't care one bit about what you want from life. It's his way or no way, and trust me, that is no way to have a good and long lasting relationship with another human being. Marriage is hard enough even when both parties deeply care about each others feelings and try to make each other happy by compromising on many things that come up during the relationship. To tie yourself to one that is so self centered and unconcerned about your feelings is NOT a smart thing to do. I have to ask, just what redeeming qualities do you see in this goof to be so crazy for him?I really think you could do better.
  19. While I would love to believe you are right, it is most unfortunate that as much as the majority of people think Osama was a dirt bag, he had many many follower that practically worshipped him, enough that they would risk their very lives or even give up their lives to assist him in his reign of terror, so sadly, to some he probably is a hero, as much as it pains me to say so.
  20. iguest, I really like your post. It does a great job of covering the argument that started as soon as the push to get everyone a social security number started. Unfortunatly, most people are not going to stand up or go against the tide when it becomes quite uncomfortable or difficult to do so. With the list Anonymous gave of things you cannot do without the number, it is easy to see why nearly everyone goes along with it. And since this number is tied into all of our other personal information, like bank accounts, credit cards, etc, it is simple for the government to keep tabs on every single thing we do. Every purchase we make, every trip we take, probably right down to a list of the pay for view movies we watch. But to my way of thinking, we have something far more incidious coming down the pike. And something that comes closer to the bible's version of an actual "mark" on a person. And that is the micro chip. Right now, our government is pushing real hard for these chips, many bills have been introduced to force farmers to micro chip all livestock. The NAIS, the National Animal Identification System, introduced by the USDA was fought tooth and nail by many local grass roots organizations, and was eventually defeated, however, it continues to rear it's ugly head in so many other ways, it reminds one of that mythical creature that grows two new heads every time you cut off one. For example, many state fairs would not allow 4H kids to show their livestock in the fair unless it was micro chipped. Just as with the social security numbers, the government is making more and more things that you are not allowed to do unless your animal is micro chipped. And they are doing a pretty fair job of promoting the chip, by telling us how safe it will make our food supply by being able to track animals back to their farm or origin. This, despite the fact that there are already so many safeguards in place that the one and only cow that ever got into this country was traced back to the exact stall she was in back on the farm in Canada. Now you may be wondering what chipping animals has to do with humans? It's really quite simple. Once micro chips are accepted as the norm, it is not a big step to begin the push for putting them in humans. As our society moves towards a cashless society, if you cannot purchase groceries until you pass your hand threw a scanner, most people will cave to the insertion of a chip in them. The micro chip is a true "mark" physically on the person. I don't know if it's true or not, but someone told me that they are actually micro chipping babies that are born in hospitals now, unknown to their parents. That's pretty scary.
  21. Actually, I had already agreed to purchase her, but they had already paid her entrance fee to the class and were going to show her anyway, so it wasn't me hesitating on the purchase. And yes, I do think goats are more like dogs certainly than cats. They come when called, they follow you around just like a dog, and they will sound an alarm when there is a percieved danger they want to alert you to. Nearly all of them have an "itchy spot" that they love to have you scratch, just like petting a dog.(ok, cats might do this one) Of course, there are some things that no amount of training will fix. Goats love to taste things. Everything. It's just part of their make up and thre isn't much you can do to stop it.
  22. Oh come on Anwiii, you know you don't mean that! What would you do for intertainment if I gave it a rest? Tell me truthfully, is there anybody on this forum you enjoy argueing with more than me??? While I might not have quite the number of death threats as Obummer, as someone who is involved with animal agriculture, the threat of terrorism by animal rights activists is a real and constant danger in my profession. Yes, I have recieved death threats. My windows are not painted black and I do not hide. The boy I mentioned in my previous post was 13, and he did not make a threat against the president, I was just using it as an example as to what our current administration is up to. He made a simple statement on a web site, the same thing I'm sure went through the minds and mouths of many other people when Ben Ladin was killed, he feared that there would be retaliation strikes against the USA. As to your point about not believing Obummer has no respect for our constitution, off the top of my head, the first one I can think of is how HE specifically banned anyone in the military to speak at any faith based meetings. Just because someone is in the military, that person does not or should not loose their rights to free speach, and the right to attend any religous gathering or even an event that is sponcered by a religious organization. I am sure there are numerous other examples I could dig up if I had the time. His cabinette apointments should give anyone cause for concern, when he puts people in power that had specific agenda's against the very organizations he put them in charge of.
  23. There is a grocery store in the next town over that really got me into the habit of keeping an eye on the cashiers when I go to pay for any purchases now. Every single time I tried to shop there they would ring up a purchase price higher than the actual advertised price of the item. One time I went in with a friend, and we both picked out just 2 or 3 snack items, different things, and I'll be danged if she didn't try to cheat both of us! You would of thought after I caught her trying to cheat me she wouldn't of tried it on my friend, but she sure did! Their usual game is to put up a sale sign up on a product, like $1.98, but when you check out it rings up $2.50. This grocery store, sad to say, is not an uncommon thing, or so it seems to me. Just tonight at Walmart, I picked up a gallon of paint that was marked 50% off, and the cashier charged me full price. I have had it happen at Walgreens with a pair of toenail clippers taht were marked on sale for $4, but the check out boy tried to charge me $12, and then argued with me until I drug his butt back to the shelf and showed him where the sign said $4! So, do you watch your purchases when you go shopping?
  24. I can't count the number of times I've watched the Lord of the Rings trilligy, I love those movies, the great graffics and scenery is just so cool. One of the best things about the big holidays, this time for the 4th of July, they always seem to run either the Star Wars movies, or Lord of the Rings, this weekend both ran, so I was in hog heaven. Anyway, I got to thinking the main human charector really looked familiar, I told my old man it looked just like the guy that played the lead in Hildago, another favorite movie of mine. The one about the horse race where an American wild mustang competed against all the arabians in an endurance race across the desert. I kept watching and decided if it wasn't the same guy, it had to be his brother. We just happen to have Hildago on DVD, so I grabbed our copy, and sure enough it is the same actor! I can't believe I never noticed it before. Talk about being a talented actor! How hard it must be to go from a cowboy to a King! He really is talented.
  25. Welcome Assistant! Glad to have you here at Xisto! You mention 2 of my favorite pastimes too, watching movies and reading, those are 2 things I like too. What kind of movies and books do you like? I'm really a big Sci Fi fan personally.
