  1. Ok, that's really strange, why was your reply deleted? It wasn't offensive or anything, I did get a chance to read it before it was deleted, just didn't have time at that moment to reply back.

    My Animals

It's certainly good to see a pet lover here on this forum, I get kind of lonely here all by myself! I'm not really a cat person, it's about impossible to find a cat fast enough to live here, but I make up for it with lots of dogs. We have rabbits, chickens and goats too.
  3. How can a day that starts off so fantastic turn so horribly wrong? Ok, the ride part turned out great! I REALLY enjoyed it. Felt so good to be on horseback again. There was one slight problem though, that I never even thought about, never had even an inkling that it would occur. The thought never crossed my mind. After we got them saddled up before we trailered them to where we would be riding, I wanted to get on to check the stirup length. Imagine my shock and suprise when I couldn't get my fat rear end up and on the horse! Took every ounce of strength I had and a push from my buddy to manage to get on. If ever I had any inspiration to go on a diet, that was sure it! After that shocking revolation, for just the briefest moment while I was sitting there looking down on the mare's ears, maybe 5 seconds, I had this little panic attack. All that went threw my mind is "what the hell do I think I'm doing?" I suppose it was just related to the shock of the discover that I couldn't even manage to get on the critter to start with. When we got where we were going to ride, I found a big rock and jumped on with no problem, and no further panic attacks either. It just felt good and right. The other amazing thing was the way riding took my mind off of every other thing in the world. My mind never strayed not for one single second on anything that was going on at home or the million other things that I should of been doing other that riding a horse. Part of that was due to concentrating on the horse and what she was doing. In all the years I have rode, I had never in my life rode a gaited horse. I've always had "cowboy" horses, Appaloosa or Quarter horses. This was a Fox Trotter. I learned that Fox Trotters don't naturaly fox trot on their own, you have to push them to the right speed and gait with just the right combination of urging them forward with your heels and gentle preasure back on the reins to keep them from just bouncing along in a fast, bone jaring trot. Since I had never experienced the feel of a fox trot, it took some concentration to feel when she was doing it right, and keep her at that pace. It's actually a bit tricky. Especially when trail riding in the woods, on rocky ground and up and down hills, and when the horse sometimes in the lead is a Pasa Fina, which has and entirly different gait and optimum speed of gate that does not match the fox trot. But all in all, it went really well. My legs were really tired and the muscles were actually quivering when I tried to walk. I had really thought that the next day I wouldn't even be able to get out of bed. But I ended up hardly sore at all to speak of. Not nearly as bad as I expected I would be. But that could of been because I walked out all the sorness that night not going to bed like I certainly would of liked to since I haven't been sleeping good and was totally exhausted, but instead finding myself walking back and forth in and out of the ER. And to the end of my day. Hubby has been sick for a couple weeks now. But that night about 10:30 or so he just kept getting worse and worse, so I ended up making a trip to the hospital emergency room with him. He ended up being admitted to the hospital where he spent the next 3 days. The ER doctor was talking about congestive heart failure, which scared the crap out of me. He has been having a hard time breathing, and then the past few days before going to the hospital, he started swelling really bad around his feet and ankles. He had retained so much water that his heart was having a hard time working. They never really did know what caused the problem, wether the lungs not working right cause the heart to act up, or the heart not working causing his lungs to fill up with fluid. They pumped him full of antibiotic, lasix, and steriods. He is a lot better now thank god. Needless to say, it has been a couple of really rough days. Last time he was in the hospital, he almost quit smoking, but said when he got home the smell of smoke in the house got him started again. So I made up my mind that I wasn't going to let him use that for an excuse this time. I have cleaned and cleaned and cleaned somemore. Even rented a steam cleaner for the carpets, and have been working on washing down the painted walls. The old curtains are in the trash, along with my old couch. After I picked him up yesterday at the hospital, we went over to a big flea market that normally has a lot of furnature, and found a couch, but while we were there we found a really nice new bad with a good foam type mattress, which we probably needed worse than a couch, but anway, we bought both, and today have to take the trailer back to pick them up. It will be nice to have the house looking fit for human habitation again.
  4. He has his own shoe company too? I wonder why then you only see him on TV ads for Haynes underware and not his own shoe company? Do you think people really keep coming up to him and showing them their underware? That would be pretty gross, but you never know, people are really strange.
  5. Just a word of caution here. In far too many cases, a humane society will NOT help an owner with an ill pet. They might euthanize the pet for you, but in some cases they will take the pet away from you, treat it's illness, and give the pet away to someone else, since they believe that since you cannot afford vet care for your pet you are not a fit pet owner. In extreme cases, they might even file criminal animal abuse charges on you, especially if you refuse to give them your pet.
  6. Wow, that is really bad news! It's a good thing the mistake was noticed before the person actually took the wrong medicine, that could cause things to go terribly wrong. So often people aren't really aware of the exact medications they are taking and this could be a huge problem if the patient wasnt aware of what is going on. I thought with all the computerized records these days mistake like that aren't supposed to happen.
  7. As the boards resident dog person, unfortunatly, I know very little about cats. I do know that there are a great many things thay you can use for dogs that can not be used on cats. With cats you are seriously limited with the drugs like antibiotics and things you can use. Has your cat recieved her vaccinations? If she had shots as a kitten, and any booster shots as an adult cat, she should be safe from the major disease that can kill her. She may just have a little cold, I don't know where you live but here we are having some drastic weather changes, which often set off colds in both humans and our pets.

    Mahjong

I used to have a pretty nice Mahjong game on my computer, I believe it originally came from a link here on the give away of the day forum, but I lost that one when my computer crashed. I?ve been trying to find another one, free of course, and not really having a lot of luck. This is the one I am using now http://www.freegames.ws/games/boardgames/mahjong/freemahjong.htm The only thing I actually like about this game is the fact that the tiles are large and easy to read, and the page loads quickly, I have it saved in favorites. So many of the free varieties have tiny little tiles that give me really bad eyestrain. Other that that, it doesn?t have much going for it. There are no bells and whistles at all, no undo move, or hint or anything else. I do like the hint option, I don?t use it much but occasionally I get stuck and if it?s late and I?m tired I need to go to bed and get it over with. And the worst part is that it is a real bear cat to beat, I do good to win one in ten games, which I don?t mind loosing occasionally, but the odds on this one are so bad it?s just too discouraging. It?s so bad that sometimes you get to the last two tiles and then can?t finish the game. I did find this page, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ that has a variety of different games, but most of them are really hard to read the tiles on, or are just weird. So, help me find a good Mahjong game, that?s easy to see the tiles on, not impossible to beat, and maybe has some other nice features like undo for when you see you?ve screwed up and matched the wrong two tiles, or a hint to help you finish up before bedtime.
  9. Once again, the bumbling bureaucracy that is our government has struck with what must be one of it's finest pieces of horse hockey regulations it has come up with yet. Our department of labor has decided it has the need to regulate the beds of goat herders! Farmers must now provide clean and "comfortable" beds to its foreign goat herders. (I guess it's ok if your goat herder is an American for you to allow a dirty uncomfortable mattress) No really, I am not making this garbage up! You can read about it here. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ While you are on the page linked above, check out some of the other regulations it covers there too. And under the Obama administration, there have been 75 new major regulations put into effect that are costing the American owned small business over $38 BILLION to implement. And people wonder why there are no jobs in this country? Please keep in mind, these are not "laws" that congress and the people get the opportunity to make comments on or vote on. These are regulatory laws put in place by the dozens of mini bureaucracies we have, like the USDA, ATF, Department of Labor, EPA, and the list goes on and on. But back to our goat herders. In tough economic times, we have congressmen threatening to cut off the social security to our nations elderly, but yet it seems that they plan to inspect the beds of goat herders to determine that they are comfortable. I wonder just how they will determine comfortable? What tax payer funded training will they get for being bed inspectors? Maybe some courses in entomology so they can determine the exact species of lice infesting the bed? Think they will spend the night in the goat herders bed? How about all that travel the tax payers are going to have to fund getting those bed inspectors out there in the range land to find the beds. Of course, they are going to need new expensive, 4 wheel drive vehicles to reach the sheep camps. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting bloody sick and tired of the government sticking it's nose into every single little nook and cranny it can. This week Fox News is doing a special segment about government regulations, it's very eye opening. Worth watching for sure. It may come as a big surprise to some of you that haven't had to deal with all the problems there are when you are trying to run a business. There is just no way American companies can compete with business in other countries that can do what ever they want to do, to the environment, or to it's employees. And while nobody wants to see children made into slaves, and some regulations may be needed, what our government has done has gone WAY over the top and is making it impossible to run any kind of business in this country. I often wonder where people who piss and moan about farm subsidities get THEIR food and clothing. Do you realize how many other entities recieve aid from the governement? From big oil companies, to utility companys, railroads, and just about ever other business in the country. Not to mentions big bucks to green energy companys who take the money and then go belly up. Farm subsidities help the American farmer stay on a more level playing field with foreign imports and help assure they get a fair market value for their products. Actually, if the government would butt out, the farmers might actually be better off if they would just keep wall street jokers from controling farm prices. And the farmers are getting help because they are actually producing our food and clothing and working, unlike the many many welfare rats who are sitting on their fat rear ends doing absolutly nothing to benefit the world. Am I against agency enforsement of laws protecting workers? Well, yes, in this particular case I would be. Here's a novel thought, if the sheepherder had a problem with the farmer who hired him, he has two things he can do. First, complain to the boss and ask for better, or, if that doesn't work, find another farmer to work for. Both require someone to stand up for themselves and not rely on the government to protect them. Why on earth should we the tax payers shell out probably $150,000 of tax payer money to a goat herder who is going to make a few thousand bucks? This is just like the FAILED bail out program. The $150,000 is just a guess on my part. I figure the salary of the government inspector, the cost of his vehicle, the office staff to back him up and the various expenses of maintaining the office support, it's probably actually a lot higher than that. What part of my asumptions do you believe to be untrue? Do you not need enforcement to back up laws that are made? For what other reason does the government make up regulations other than to increase the powers of the agency making up the regulations? I mean really, did you think they made up regulations to help the common man? I don't hate. I'm perfectly fine with what our government is SUPPOSED to be. My problem is that it has gone way above and beyond what our forefathers invisioned. So I and many others need to not only complain, but do so far more then I do now, and complain loudly, until someone listens. What's that saying about how evil goes on when good men do nothing? (I forget exactly how it goes.) Nothing is going to change if we do nothing. So pardon me if I complain to high heaven. Let's not allow the small minded, power hungry, corrupt fools in Washington destroy our way of life and liberty. Ok, this is really starting to suck. How can I ever gain any hosting credits if anwii's posts keep getting deleted? It's so slow here these days, there's virtually no one to have a conversation with and besides all that, I rather enjoy argueing with anwii.
  10. Last week a friend of mine went on a horse camping trip with another friend of hers, and she needed me to handle a doggie problem for her while she was gone, so I took care of that for her, we kinda swap help, sometimes when I go on vacation I have to have her come over here and give puppy shots, or something, since my regluar helpers aren't exactly qualified to handle that. Anyway, when she got back I mentioned that sometime if she wanted somebody to go riding with her I'd sure like to go, like to think I'd get another chance at riding before I die of old age. It's been pretty close to 20 years since I've been on a horse. I can't believe it's been that long, but that's got to be pretty close. I used to practicly live on horseback, used to take care of what was more or less a dude ranch, and I broke and trained all the colts that were born there, besides training all my own horses over the years. So, today she called and said she and her friend were going riding Thursday and invited me to come along. I'm pretty excited about it. Told her I wanted to make it a fairly short ride, since I suspect it will be about impossible for me to walk for a few days afterwords, but I'm really looking forward to it anyway. Wish me luck!
  11. LOL, that reminds me of a vanity licence plate I saw on a car one time that really had me laughing, after I figured out what it meant, the plate was CNI DOG On a car licence plate. Get it? Really, why would someone who needed a seeing eye dog be driving a car with vanity plates?
  12. I've been wooling this perplexing problem around in my brain ever since you posted it over a week ago. I really didn't think antifreeze could evaporate, but wasn't sure. I finally had to go to a higher automotive authority for an answer. That would be the hubby of course, he's been mechanicing since he was 3 years old. (young yes, his dad had a shop, and he started the boy out washing parts at the ripe old age of 3 years.) He tried to expain to me the details as to how the antifreeze expands and contracts and flows in and out of the reserve or overflow tank. If the levels of coolent is not maintained at the correct levels in the reserve tank, it can cause losses of coolent somehow. The reserve tank it'self could have a leak. Another problem can be a faulty radiator cap. And you mentioned there were no leaks, but there is always the possiblity that there are no apparent leaks when the car is parked and the engine is cool, but when the system gets hot and under preasure, small leaks of steam would not be noticable if they were being rapidly blown away under the car while it was traveling.
  13. I wonder if you have some sort of different type of Pay Pal account to be getting charged 4.6%? For every $100 puppy deposit I get they take out $3.20. Same amount every time, and I've had the account for several years. So I suck at math, but I think that's 3.2%?
  14. Hummm, I'm not sure what to think about plastic fuel tanks. I would think that in short order the gasoline would cause a break down in the plastic. I wonder if there is any reasearch into the life span of a plastic gas tank?I hope they get their strike settled soon, if they have that many cars sold, they need to get busy making them, since a lot of people aren't going to wait around, they will end up getting some other kind of car. And speaking of cars, I've been seeing something on Tv that I havent seen in a really LONG time, a commercial for Fiat! They have a limited edition Fiat 500 coming out, kind of a neat looking little car, but nowhere near as cool as the old X19, or Spiders. (of which I actually have one of each) I googled it but didn't see what kind of gas milage they got.
  15. Well, I don't know how much difference really there would be in the things you should or shouldn't do in an interview wether it was for a job or to get into a school, but yea, bathing is a real good idea, and on that note, let me add one thing. Don't go to any kind of an interview with the waste of your pants down around below the cheeks of your a$$ and your underwear covering your butt above your pants. I've seen some really dumb fashions come and go but people this one is STUPID!!! Saw some dumb punk walking into K Mart the other day, his plaid boxer shorts completly about his drawers, and the crotch of his pants about his knees. He had to use one hand to keep his pants from falling completely off, if he would of had to let go or run, he'd of broken his dang fool neck tripping on his pants. Dumb Dumb Dumb!!!! Honestly, it does make me look back on the days when the old folks complained about the Hippies tye dyed shirts and big bell bottoms, man, if they could see these goofy kids now they'd really freak out.
  16. Ha Ha, don't you hate when that happens? We fixed that problem here when we got the new Dish network, and got 2 remotes, so now we have a his and hers, so usually we can find at least one of them. I had to really try, but I was able to get the books for the whole Twilight series at our local library. I did enjoy the books emensly. The movies were not bad either. Sadly, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series was on at an odd time, so I haven't seen very many episodes of the Tv show, but I sure did like the original movie. Lots of good one liners, and Luke Perry is always a good actor, he played the part of the drop out looser biker dude really well in the movie. Wish I could of seen more of the TV show. Looked like a good and interesting cast. Maybe I'll catch some of the reruns.

    Hello?

Welcome Ret! Glad to see you here. If you don't know what your doing when it comes to making web sites, this is sure the right place to be. Not just for the free web hosting, but you actually get "paid" by getting your hosting while you are asking questions about how to make and run a web site. How can you beat a deal like that? When it comes to web sites and computer stuff, there are really a lot of very smart people here that can help you. Unfortunatly, I'm not one of them. But if you have dog problems/questions, then I can help.
  18. Welcome to Xisto Mark! Always glad to see new folks here. Why don't you tell us a little more about yourself, your likes and dislikes, hobbies and other interests.
  19. No, not stupid at all. The only way you can learn something you don't know about is to ask, so really, there are no stupid questions. But to answer your questions. Rings are often sold in "pairs" but both are for the woman in some case, and in others you can buy a matching pair of wedding bands, one for the woman and one for the man. The mans ring is usually wider and heavier. However, I think you are asking about the pair that both rings are for the woman. They usually make a lighter ring but with a stone like diamond in it, and then a heavier solid gold band that matches the other ring by the texture or cuttings on the band. You give the engagement ring, the one with the stone, when you ask her to marry you, and then the wedding band is given during the actual wedding ceremony. So if you heart (and pocket book) desires, you can go all out with the fancy set for your girl, and buy a $20 gold band for yourself at the time of the marriage.
  20. Just exactly how did you find this out? Are you sure it's even true? And even if it is true, do you know what the message said? It may of been nothing at all, or maybe she was asking where you were since this was your best friend after all. Who do you trust most, your girlfriend or her sister? It almost sound like you are taking the word of the sister instead of the woman you claim to love and want to marry. This is certainly not a good foudation to build a lifeime relationship on. Did it occur to you that the sister may be jealous? If you are the jealous type, you need to get this bad behaviour under control right now. There is nothing that will suffocate a relationship faster than jelousy. How can someone love you when you don't trust them? If you question every thing they do? And often, when you accuse someone of doing something that makes you jealous, after awhile, that person wonders if maybe the reason you are so jealous is because you are doing something like what you are accusing them of behind their back as a reason that you are so suspicious of them in the first place.
  21. Actually, we have Dish network now, had Direct Tv a few years ago. I actually like it better than Direct Tv, but there really isn't much difference. Both are too expensive for what they are. I hate that you have to pay in one of the higher packages to get the 2 channels that hubby and I both like. We really don't watch that many channels, and could get by with a lot less, but it's not set up that way, which really sucks. They can keep all those shopping channels, and amazingly enough the sports channels too. Would you believe I actually found a man that doesn't give a hoot about profesional sports???? I can't believe I got that lucky!
  22. Isn't it a sad state of affairs when the most honest candidate doens't stand a snowball chance of winning? Seems we'd rather see liars and cheats and con men represent us. While I haven't made any decisions I have definatly crossed a few of the candidates off my list. Rick Sanatorium is a big NO NO, due to his ties with animal rights wacko's, and his introduction of the Paw's bill several years ago that would regulate dog breeders right off the face of the earth. And while the media is currently raving over the wonders and acomplishments of the Texas govener, he also recently signed legislation to hamper dog breeders rights, and while he may be making more of some types of jobs in Texas he is ruining others. I just can't get interested in Romney. He's too stuffed shirt, good old boy, career type politician. The same kind that has things so screwed up now. I think the Tea Party is good for America. Even if their candidates don't win, it's getting the word out that the American public is sick and tired of the way things are going now, too much government, too much control and spending totally out of control.
  23. I really have not been following Bachmann's campaign very closely. I guess I keep hoping Palin will throw her hat in the ring. I REALLY like her. As to wether she can bring down oil prices, yes, she probably could. The threat of the OPEC cutting production is to my way of thinking, an empty threat. They might cut production only if they can't sell us all that extra oil. They are still going to want an income, so much of a slow down isn't real likely. The problem we are going to run into is that even if they finally give drilling permits out to USA companies, it will still take several years before the new wells come into production, leaving us to suffer the pain at the pups for some time to come. But what really chaps my butt about this dirlling thing is our STUPID president Obummer giving OUR TAX DOLLARS to Brazil so THEY can drill for oil, telling them we will be their best customer. Brazil plans on drilling in basicly the same area that our government won't give US companies permission to drill in. A real stupid move, when you consider not only the need for American produced oil, and the high rate of unemployment in this country.
  24. Thanks for the information. I do have the computer sitting on top of my desk, so that isn't my problem. I did notice that this particluar computer doesn't have near the air vents that my others have had. Matter of fact, it practicly doesn't have any. I actually took the side panel off and carefully vacumed it out, it did seem to help, but not really very much. Anyway, it's all a moot point now, since lightening took it out anyway. Right after I cleaned it of course, and wasted all that time.
  25. I currently use XP. I was going to get a different computer here awhile back, and was actually looking forward to Windows 7, but when I got it on the new computer I was very annoyed when none of my older programs worked. I hate it when you have to spend a ton of money getting programs to work, not to mention learning how to use them and then all of a sudden you have to go spend more money for more programs and then learn all over again.
