Recently, I wrote a review for a freeware utility with a nice GUI that allows you to create/edit .htaccess files visually. The software is targetted for beginners as well as intermediate users. Read the full article...

Belkin's TuneStudio, another recent introduction at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) as well as at MacWorld Expo, is this wonder gizmo that turns your fifth generation iPod into a full-fledged mixing station. TuneStudio innovates on one of iPod's weaknesses - recording music - and proves once over again that with the right kind of accessories the iPod can be used virtually for anything related with music. Yeah - where I'd run into trouble earlier on was that i needed opaque to write some server-side ajax for it so that you could view ONLY YOUR OWN CREDITS. However, now that the everyone's credits are openly visible through the Process page interface, I should modify the extension to take only your username and provide you with the credit details. Should be ready in a jiffy

Please Review My Download Site

I'm not much of a site reviewer - but I can alert you to a couple of issues that might get your site a really bad reputation. A lot of people are using the SiteAdvisor extension from McAfee. SiteAdvisor sits in your browser status bar and warns you about any sites with malicious content and/or links to such sites. When I visited your site, SiteAdvisor immediately turned RED. Upon investigaing the cause, I found that the primary cause is that your site links to a dangerous site called top66.ro. It also links to a couple of other blacklisted sites like extremetracking.com & pspdownloads.ws. You should get rid of such links ASAP - if you want your site to show up GREEN & clean on SiteAdvisor. A RED flag will instantly scare away loads of traffic. -

Whoa.. how come I missed these reviews !!! Thanks guys - those were awesome ones and wud definitely set me along the right path Twitch was working on a good wide template for me that goes easy on colours and makes text totally readable - coz that's what the whole thing is about. Cheers !! Question: Do the Ads on my site make it load slow for you?? How about the page-load time apart from the ads? For me, with a decent connection everything looks fine. What was your experience ? -
Irrelevant Adsense Ads On Your Site

I've written an article on how to weed out such MFA sites as well as low CPC (Cost Per Click) sites to increase your earnings over the same CTR (Click-Through-Rate). Take a look at it and let me know if it helped you in any way... Here's the article: AdSense: Blocking out unwanted and miserable CPC sites to improve your earnings with same CTR -
Yup - I know what you mean. I'm trying to figure out if the Advanced Search functions can somehow me incorporated into this. As of now, I know how to limit the number of returned results and number of results per page - but that won't serve the purpose as such. The main problem lies with the fact that you can enter ONLY keywords in the search box and cannot specify any other parameters...if only there was a mechanism for doing that !!

Yup sure go ahead It'll be great if my tutorial helps in anyway to get you started on writing more funky ones Be sure to check out the OpenSearch syntax list - it's not complicated at all... you can actually control the number of search results returned, the pagination of the results and a lot more. Incidentally, I've got another tutorial on how to create a similar blog-search plug-in for those who're using WordPress. The tutorial can be found at: On Creating an OpenSearch Plug-in for WordPress (for Firefox & IE7) Cheers, m^e

4 OS On One Computer whats the easiest way?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Grafitti's topic in Websites and Web Designing
None of them involve command lines so you should be fine with both. AFAIK, XOSL will have to be installed in a dedicated partition or but GAG can be put somewhere close to the boot record - the option is given to you during installation. -
Hi folks, I just finished re-working the old forum search plug-ins for both Xisto and Xisto. They're now recoded in the OpenSearch XML format and hence, compatible with both Firefox & IE7. For those who don't know, we've a set of search plug-ins that can be installed in the Quick Search box in Firefox to quickly search the forums with specific keywords, without visiting the forum search page at all. The plug-ins can be installed from: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Included in the new version is Autodiscovery mode, which allows your browser to automatically discover the plugin once you visit the plug-ins page. The plug-in is auto-listed in the drop-down menu in the quick-search box and gets installed rightaway when you click on it. Something that might make an interesting read --> A tutorial I wrote on designing such plugins. Any problems with the plugins, do let me know...

4 OS On One Computer whats the easiest way?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Grafitti's topic in Websites and Web Designing
You can use one of the Free Boot Managers like XOSL or GAG. Both are pretty lightweight (approx. 500KB) and provide you with GUIs during booting. Adding new partitions/drives to boot from is very easy in both. I've used XOSL myself... so I can highly recommend it. But going through the features list of GAG, I can say it's no less. -

If you're using WordPress 2.x (with widgets enabled)... I've developed a sidebar widget plugin for you called GARR (Google AdSense Referral Rotator). After installation it turns up as a sidebar widget, which you can drag & drop onto any sidebar in Wordpress and it'll keep showing 1 of the 4 available AdSense Referrals randomly upon every page-load. Here's an excerpt of my article on this at my site, Chaos Laboratory. You can read about the whole project (with installation instructions) and download the plug-in HERE. Comments & Feedback most welcome Cheers, m^e

Thanks for the review Yup - it's a lab too and hence I intend to churn out a bunch of good products... just that time is being such a b**** Someday..soon -
Hey guys, I'd been indenting to set-up a proper personal site for a long while, but got around to doing so only last month. My site, Chaos Laboratory is primarily oriented as a technology blog (with software reviews, articles, tutorials, free goodies from the net etc.) I am not much concerned about the layout & graphics - as long as it's clearly readable....for my site's not there for sporting fancy graphics, but some serious content. Do take a look and provide me with any feedbacks/suggestions for improvement... Cheers, m^e

I don't know much about SMF - but does the version you're using offer Captcha Image Verification while signing up?? If it's got the feature turn it on and if it doesn't look around for a mod that'll do it for you. Image Verification will definitely cut down on Spambots being able to auto-register themselves and spam on the forums... It Works

You can definitely use the Microsoft.VisualBasic.Collection class as faulty.lee showed you - but a more elegant approach would be to create a separate class (inherited from CollectionBase) to hold your items and then use this class inside your Responses class. For example - say I create a class called ResponsesCollection: Imports System.CollectionsPublic Class ResponsesCollection Inherits CollectionBaseEnd Class CollectionBase provides you with an inbuilt searchable & sortable collection called List which can be accessed by both keys and index number. Any class inheriting CollectionBase gains these properties... The members methods which can operate on the List are Add, AddRange, Remove, RemoveAt, Clear, IndexOf, Item, Contains etc. Once you inherit a class from CollectionBase, you don't need to declare the List separately... you can directly access it as List. A simple implementation of the members would be... Imports System.Collections Public Class ResponsesCollection Inherits CollectionBase Public Sub Add ( value As Object ) List.Add ( value ) End Sub ' AddRange Public Sub AddRange( value[] As Object ) ' Add items ForEach vItem As Object in value Add( vItem ) End Sub ' Remove Public Sub Remove( value As Object ) ' Remove item List.Remove( value ) End Sub ' RemoveAt Public Sub RemoveAt( index As Integer ) ' If index is out of bounds - throw exception If index > Count - 1 Or index < 0 Throw New ArgumentOutOfRangeException( "Index out of bounds." ) ' If all is fine, remove item at specified index List.RemoveAt( index ) End Sub ' Clear Public Sub Clear() ' Clear List List.Clear() End Sub ' IndexOf Public Function IndexOf( value As Object ) As Integer Return List.IndexOf( value ); End Function ' Item Public Function Item( index As Integer ) As Object ' If index is out of bounds - throw exception If index > Count - 1 Or index < 0 Throw New ArgumentOutOfRangeException( "Index out of bounds." ) Return CType( List(index), Object) End Function ' Insert Public Sub Insert( index As Integer, value As Object ) List.Insert( index, value ) End Sub ' Contains Public Function Contains( value As Object ) As Boolean Return List.Contains( value ); End Function End Class Once you're done with the collection class as shown above, go over to your Responses class and implement this class by a familiar object name (say Item) inside it... make sure you instantiate it in the constructor. Public Class Responses Public Item As ResponsesCollection ........ ........... ' Constructor Public Sub New ' Other constructor code ...... ' Instantiate Collection Item = New ResponsesCollection .... End SubEnd Class From now on whenever you instantiate Responses class anywhere in code, you'll be able to access/modify the list by Responses.Item (x) or Responses.Item.Add (x) or Responses.Item.RemoveAt (x) etc.... Let me know if this helped Cheers, m^e
