It's similar, Abhiram, but it has quite a few different steps from my first tutorial...as for Desaturate, what that key does is remove all color. What I was trying to do with these two tutorials, is show how to shows some color in a black and white photo that WAS there, as was in the post you mentioned, but this tutorial is about showing color that never was in the original graphic.
-
Taking a note from my previous tutorial, here's how to have color in a black and white picture that may not have been there to begin with. 1. Take any graphic you want; the simpler, the better. 2. Go to the Layers tab, right click, and choose Duplicate Layer (You'll get a message asking what you want to name the layer and where you want it. Just press OK to go with the default.) 3. Go to the Image Section in the top area, select Adjustments, then Desaturate. 4. You now have two choices- Background and Background Copy...click on Background to go back to that layer. 5. Once back on the background picture, (which you'll know because the picture changes from black and white back to color), go to the Image Section, select Adjustments again, then Hue/Saturate. 6. Now, you can choose any kind of color you want, but to make it easier to see how it'll look, you need to click on the Colorize button on the Hue/Saturation tool box. (As you can see, the specifications I put in put the saturation as deep red.) 7. Click back to the Background Copy section, and erase as much or as little as you want to show off this color...I erased enough to emphasize the red lips. Voila! Finished Product:

I don't know if it's another database hiccup or what, because I'm trying to work with something with the database, and when I try to access phpMyAdmin, it's saying wrong username and password...but yet I can access my cPanel just fine...any idea what's going on?UPDATE: I guess it was just a hiccup of the system, because it seems like it might be back now...dunno...will wait and see...one other question, though- Is there some kind of weekly maintenance that's done to the mySQL servers on Sundays or something, because that's when I seem to run into the most database downtime, though even when I do, it seems to be back within an hour or so.

Major Website Mistakes Improve your site
mzwebfreak replied to BigmanB's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Oh yes, I actually found a copy of some of my first pages (from Angelfire pagebuilder *shudder*) and boy were they TACKY! One thing that I felt would be good to mention is that if you're going to use backgrounds, keep the same one for the entire site if at all possible. That was one thing I remember that I had done on my first site is have different backgrounds on practically every page since angelfire had this big background gallery that was kinda cool. That, and keep the text to a managable size. We don't need pages full of text THIS BIG ya know? -
Google Talk Googles version of MSN Messenger
mzwebfreak replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Software
Personally, what I found worked, since I could have all my IM lists all in one place without having to run 5 million different programs, was this nifty program called Trillian, which can organize and catalog ALL your different IM systems, like MSN and AOL....Dunno if it's set up for GTalk yet, but it's worth looking into if you have multiple IM programs. Here's the direct link to the download: http://download.cnet.com/Trillian/3000-2150_4-10047473.html -
Wallpapers Some designs I made from scratch enjoy
mzwebfreak replied to Jorsart's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I think my favorite's the blue one...what program did you use to make these? They're wonderful. -
If you'd like a nice tutorial on how to make a basic site, since I geared the tutorial specifically for people like you, here's the link to it in the Tutorials Section. I would also suggest you either buy or check out from the library some of the For Dummies books, which really helped me out when I was just starting out in the web designing deal. Not only that, but many of those helping boks come with a CD with copies of freeware or temporary shareware programs that you can try out for web design.

Html Bg Question if possible how?
mzwebfreak replied to organicbmx's topic in Websites and Web Designing
either that, or there's a technique to do it directly to the graphic in a graphics program so that you don't have to worry about css browser compatability. -
How Do You Show.. borders for frames in Firefox?
mzwebfreak replied to mzwebfreak's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Sorry to double post myself, but I put it into the style section of the frames.html file, and it didn't change anything....tried putting it in the css coding, and that didn't work either. -
How Do You Show.. borders for frames in Firefox?

Alrighty then- the url to the illustrations is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Hope that helps. -
Okay, I want to get an antique look for a graphic, and though I knew that Paint Shop Pro has a nice simple button to do that, I haven't figured out a way to get it done the right way in Photoshop. I mean, I tried a desaturate then hue/saturation with hue 38, sauration 20 and lightness 14, and it came out looking like this: It's nice and all, but not exactly what I was looking for...any help would be appreciated.

Okay, I don't know if it's because of the Firefox browser not supporting this part of the HTML code, which I doubt, since it shows up just fine around text, but not sections where graphics are. Anyways, here's what the layout looks like in IE: And what it looks like in Firefox: And here's the code I'm using that wants to screw with my head, apparently: style="border-right:2px solid #003300; border-top:2px solid #003300; border-left-width: 1; border-bottom-width: 1; padding: 0"> And that's basically what it looks like for all three sections, and it shows up fine in IE...is there a plugin for Mozilla I need? What's the problem? Is there some alternative code I could use for it to view properly?

Live Journal Or Myspace? Which is more addicting.
mzwebfreak replied to fillrbnny's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yeah, I love the fact how either journal program lets you choose exactly who gets to read your posts, but the thing that I think sets the myspace blog above livejournal is the what you're reading/listening to/watching thingy that shows an icon of the actual item, clickable link so that if the people reading it want to find out more info about it, they can so very easily. -
Well, I like mine...it's at https://myspace.com/browser mzwebfreaksimple, easy, and I'm using a graphic I manipulated from http://www.gettyimages.de/landing/unsupported

Okay, quick, easy tutorial about how to get color on a black and white graphic. I will be using Photoshop CS, but I think you can find many of the same things in version 7. 4. Now, here's what my graphic looks like so far: 5. I'm going to make the butterfly stand out, so I'm going to select a small Eraser brush, this one being Oval 10 px...take your time, and even zoom in a little bit to see that you're only revealing the color where you want to. Voila! Finished Product:

What I would suggest you do is try http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ can search there for what you need, and pricegrabber gives you multiple sites that have that camera, with the competitive prices, so you can choose the one that's the best deal. I love the camera I got from http://imptestrm.com/rg-erdr.php?_dnm=www.zipzoomfly.com&_cfrg=1&_drid=as-drid-2300300503455222, but it's more top of the line than what you're looking for.

Tips Needed For College Poster.
mzwebfreak replied to cyph3r's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Personally, I would think that your best bet for finding photographs would be to try searching the same terms m8 suggested, but at http://www.gettyimages.de/creative-images. There's plenty of photos there, including a lot of royalty free ones, which is the kind you'd want to use in your poster. Good Luck! -
I have to say that I agree with that view about Xisto...that was the host I was with originally, and then when I started discussing something in one of the forums that related to my job in a certain maligned industry, I got a lot of flames and bad msgs from people in that forum, and then NilsC suggested I come over here, and it's been great. (Sidenote: I went back to get the direct link back to the topic, and found a lot more people had replied recently in defense of me, so yeah to that, tho.) As long as I don't get too out of hand, and keep my credits up, I have nothing to worry about. Not only that, but the customer service and tech support is a heck of alot better than a lot of the other free servers out there, who might get back to you about your questions or downtime once in a blue moon. So, all in all, I love Xisto, even with some people coming in here with mistaken ideas of what to do and say here.

New scientist.com, I think...as for the whole point of the topic, I feel that partially the way that Americans look at things is partially to blame...we get so inundated with sexuality and violence, I think our brains sometimes go "okay, it's nothing important..I don't have to pay attention." and hence the reasons why they have temporary "blindness" afterwards...the brain hasn't figured out that breaktime's over and it's time to go back to work.

A Question For The Web Designers Out There
mzwebfreak replied to rodneylay's topic in Websites and Web Designing
One thing I've found works for me is the fact that about 75-80% of web browsers use either IE or Firefox. Since Firefox has a bit more problems with how certain things I do may be viewed, I angle more towards ease of navigation for those users. Then I check the uploaded site in both browsers to make sure that most, if not all, of the bugs are out. I may spend an extra 20 minutes just correcting and uploading the new corrections and F5ing to make sure it all works, but taking the time to make sure those two browsers can see your site the way you want it to be is one of the most important things towards keeping people coming back. -
Hosting Credits Halved And Domain Does Not Work
mzwebfreak replied to rodneylay's topic in Web Hosting Support
Xisto itself does not have a paid option, but Xisto - Web Hosting.com is the paid brother of Xisto and Xisto. -
I have run the gamut in internet hosting, from Angelfire and Geocities when I first started, to hostultra and fateback. At one point, I thought I had it made with web1000.com...no popups, unlimited space, and not very much down time. However, I soon found out that only people in the US and Canada could access their servers. (Don't ask me why...I don't know.) And, since my fansites are rather international in outreach, I was basically cutting off 75% of my fanbase for savings. So, all in all, it was a great host (mind you, this was about 2 years ago, so bear that in mind.) but for what I was doing it just wasn't working out...I liked them, but I just wasn't getting it out to everyone that I needed to.

I use myspace a lot, though I have two profiles- one for me to meet people on, and one to promote my professional side of life. (If anyone's interested in my personal profile it's [url=https://myspace.com/browser mzwebfreak.) Anyways, the reason I think it's great is the way it brings people together...I've "run into" people I knew from back home (I moved to Tampa from Maryland, so there's lots of people I miss from up there.) I can also get to meet new girl friends, since I have a hard time making friends in my line of work. Yes, I've come across many annoying profiles and wanting to turn music off, but unable to, plus I also had a problem for a while with people hotlinking to graphics on my servers to their myspace profiles, but admin took care of that problem.

Okay, from my two and a half years as a religion major, here goes. Yes, the Shroud of Turin exists. However, though many claim it to be the shroud of Christ, the common practice for Jewish burial back then was akin to the Egyptian way, in that strips of cloth would be wound around the body many many times until the bidy was fully encased, so as not to be able to smell it, since, according to rabbinical edict, touching a dead body or being near one, especially one that was decomposing (i.e. smelled) would be ground for religious impurity for up to 40 days. Hence the many layers and the incense. So, basically, what I'm saying is that the Shroud MUST be a fake, since to get the imprint of the entire body on one piece of cloth would require them to wrap the body contrary to common practice of the day.

Php: Want Script Checking/correcting Software
mzwebfreak replied to Casanova1405241497's topic in Programming
How would one go about correctly installing the php.exe program so that it doesn't interfere with the rest of the operating system or such like that? Also, how much room does the php program and/or PHP Designer take up on the hard drive? Just wondering, since I already have some pretty hefty sized programs already on my computer.
