I downloaded it and didn't see anything special in it at all ... infact just after half an hour I un-installed it right now. Firefox will still remain my primary browser but I thought of switching from Opera to Safari as my secondary browser but then the performance really didn't change much, I didn't look at the statistics, but it equally bugged me. On my PC, Firefox is way faster than any other browser and though it technically eats more RAM, don't know why it still functions better and keeps my PC from lagging. :lol:We might just need this to make sure that our web-sites look good on Macs as Saint_Michael already said. And it looks, err, I was never fond of the looks of anything Apple related, it just didn't make the cut for me, and all these -brushed metal- type thing really doesn't look good to my eyes. It was 29 MB when Opera is 5 MB, took more RAM while in standby while Opera took half the RAM while still loading the page! So I guess Opera is still better than Safari and over-all, I find no reason for me to keep this thing on my PC at all.As for web-designing, I haven't really started doing much work and/or there might be simulators available.

Wikipedia + Myspace = ... An idea for an interesting site
sylenzednuke replied to BooZker's topic in Science and Technology
I guess we'll have to drop the idea of a Wiki then. But we are looking over the features ourselves so I don't think a Wiki would be of any use whatsoever. Maybe it was only to make the site popular? I mean who wouldn't like to experience another Wiki? I mean friends, uploads, custom pages editable by SIMPLE EDITOR or CSS ... and even some more when we develop this idea even more. So we don't really need Wiki to do all this, infact the Wiki system isn't that easy to grab as HTML or CSS or PHP is, I find it pretty confusing myself! And this definitely won't be a profile where we type what we are and what are our hobbies, but like those celebrities have Wiki's [highschool year, some incident that changed their life and then how they went on to something different and stuff relevant to that], this is I think what our members should be motivated to write, otherwise it's not even a autobiography, but a simple self-praising MySpace-like profile! Now we don't want to be just another social networking site, do we? We already have Facebook, orkut, MySpace, hi5 and so many more which keep on coming in and in over and over again! And Wikia to me looks like just another social networking site and the Wiki-thing makes it look more not-good-for-the-eyes. Same with Mindsay.com, just too many features and a bloated layout! I guess our site will have a difference ... what difference is yet to be thought upon. -

No, maybe we could get into Xisto - Web Hosting? 'cause I don't want to go out of Xisto. I guess image uploader would do, they can just link their YouTube videos and then the music, a RSS link to their Last.FM account? That would go well according to me, we can get their full music statistics then! And I didn't quite understand the BBCode thing, could you please ellaborate? Why would we want to limit certain data? Are you speaking of making certain parts of the page available for public/friends network editing? -
I guess it's first of all pretty funny that you expect a computer to keep you entertained throughout your life.I go on forums, check my orkut, flame the posers there on the communities (believe me, you will find the LARGEST amount of posers on orkut), play games, IM and then I am done. Apart from when I get a creative click and I make sigs and layouts. But that's a different story. You guys need to hunt down for more hobbies! Once I hear one of my favorite bands playing, I just pick-up my bass and if I don't know the song, then I try to play it as good as I can, and if all the songs for the next 2 hours are by my favorite bands, then I won't stop till those 2 hours are over and I am all sweating like a pig. :lol:Hanging out with friends is pretty important too, I am not much of a social person, don't really go to coffee shops, malls and stuff like that, but go and rent some DVD and watch it with your friends, jam with them, just roam around eating stuff here and there, it all seems to be boring now but when you actually do it, you have no idea how the time just passed by.I used to sit on my computer 24 x 7, but now it's hardly some hours, I know this is still much but it's way less compared to literally 24 x 7, I used to miss out on school just to completely my favorite MMORPG or for that online crush of mine to come online ... but now thing's have changed pretty much.Go out for a walk or something, wake up early, go out for a walk, it just feels so good! It all seems tiring when you are accustomed to remain seated on the PC, but when you do it just once, then you get hooked onto it!

I really think we should have voting for almost everything from names to tag-lines. 'cause one person deciding stuff will definitely not be a good idea. I really like the idea of having a simple editing system and a blank-default-page thing and then yes, we can even have a simple template system for them to edit later for newbie HTML literate people. I agree with pretty much all the features there, but I guess we can ask them to give us the link of their video on YouTube? Like we have on orkut?I guess we should go with COPPA for under 13 children? But I guess keeping the minimum age 16 is quite good too, 'cause right now most 13 to 15 year olds are too lost in trends! You can put up the poll once we get a few more sugesstions into this thing and a new topic would be better according to me. And I don't think any of the features you've mentioned so far need to be removed or added more, more features according to me would just make it more heavy and messy I guess? And yes, starting it off in a few days won't be a problem for me at all... I live in India, and follow IST which is GMT +5.30, so well we can sort the timings out.And yes, I guess we should get paid hosting and what about the domain? -
Are You A Musician? If so, what do you play?
sylenzednuke replied to Cerb's topic in Art & Creativity
I am a bassist, I haven't taken any professional lessons from taking them from tomorrow, I've been playing for a couple of months. And till now I have even been able to pull-off some RHCP songs, so no one really calls me a beginner, my friends say I am raw talent which can be carved with professional lessons... :lol:I just used tablatures and sites like ActiveBass.com for now, for scales, tunings, techniques and all.And I agree to someone up there, finally someone gets it that the bass is important, tell that to the guitarists, they never agree. Freehostia.com Great free host
sylenzednuke replied to reconraiders's topic in Websites and Web Designing
That was the official size until a few months back but then all the package 2 plans were upgraded to 500 MB storage space and 10,000 MB bandwidth. They might need to change the description then, but if you want, I can give you a screenshot of the CPanel where I have 500 MB storage and 10,000 MB bandwidth. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/45575-default-hosting-package-plan-upgrade-sweet-mother-of-jesus/ You can check up this link for the official announcement. And for Freehostia.com, I figured out Xisto way before I could even make up a decent site, and then I never had to try anything other than Freewebs.com which was way back... And Xisto "Pwns!" any other free web-hosting service anytime, I bet Freehostia will never be as good as Xisto. -

Yup, that's why I was willing to help, to reduce the burden from one person, ghostrider can take care of PHP and I can do CSS while you do toe HTML if you want. And yes, collaborating on the graphics is perfectly fine for me! We can communicate through e-mails as usual of course and/or messenger services. I use Gtalk and Y!M but I also have MSN and AIM so I don't think anyone of us could possibly have a problem while speaking to me. I am not using my hosting for now much, but I am working on the site and other things as well, I use it to host misc. stuff, like a forum for my community on orkut for now, some images and my site's "under construction" page. So I can't give out my hosting either. But I will never be using entire 500 MB so I can share out some, but then bandwidth and URl would be problems! I guess we can figure this one out later on. Well, are there any other good features of having a wiki apart from the content being editable by everyone? If no, then I guess there's no reason for us to have a wiki up there. And I personally think we should keep ideas in general, 'cause if we keep on adding features on features, it'll just be a mess and all we want is a autobiography site. For the tag-line, I guess "Your article, Your story, Your (Name of site)" would do better as the pages on Wikipedia are "articles"? And Wikipedia + MySpace is where this idea came from? But yeah, I'll think of some more for sure. -

I agree that this problem will be a big one, and we might even have kids creating 10 new accounts everytime they hear a new band! Like we have most nowadays. I guess there should be some kind of validation in here and creating an account and maintaining your own Wiki shouldn't be that easy like register yourself and go ahead! Mindsay.com is just another social networking site just with wikis, it doesn't really appeal me much anyways, it's more of a social networking site and too filled with stuff. I guess a minimalistic Wikipedia-styled one would do loads better and we don't want it to look like a social networking site either, the only things we are taking in are messaging and commenting (or to rather put it in a better way, part of a profile which can be publicly edited). And there can be some parts of the profile that can be edited publicly and the rest should be restricted to the author of the page. Just think of having your own page on Wikipedia, only that, and then to me it looks far more better than any blog or MySpace! Discussion can finally lead to what should actually be the site 'cause if we keep speaking about identity theft and more and more features, it'll just become like any other site out there. -
I don't really crack my neck or whatever part of my body except for my fingers 'cause I never knew those areas could be cracked! I thought it was just some crap movies showed to make the actor look more villain-ish. But I read both those articles, good thing that cracking my fingers won't cause me arthritis, I only do it when tension has gripped too much over my fingers, so I guess I am putting them back to place after they've been slightly out of it after hours of work? If so then there is problem, but I seriously don't want to put them out of place now, do I? And as the article mentioned, cracking/popping noise are air bubbles, of carbon dioxide and nitrogen.

Funny Movies When youre the last one laughing....
sylenzednuke replied to lekrissy's topic in General Discussion
I haven't seen Shrek 3 and all my plans to see it with my friends never materialized due to some problem or the other so I don't know whether it is as funny as you are making it look like. But yes, have been through that, only thing, I was clapping instead of laughing. The movie was Madagascar, another animated movie. And even while laughing is concerned, most of them weren't laughing too. It felt too awkward to be there laughing and clapping when some were doing neither of the two! But then got over it once I came out from the theater as all friends were laughing together discussing the movie. -
Well, there are tonnes of various packs available right now which make your XP look like Vista. And this might be just another one, but having those things on the side aren't a bad deal, could you please edit your post with the link to it?If it was me, I loathe Vista so much that I wouldn't even want my PC to look like Vista. :lol:But personally, even that didn't appeal much, the black/orange combination of Windows Zune theme just kills everything else, though I don't like Zune either.

sylenzednuke replied to BooZker's topic in Science and Technology
Okay, now this is one idea in a long time I really think is great! And I am really in for this idea. The name WikiBio doesn't sound good to me atleast... But you are using the Wiki system to develop this, aren't you? Then I guess we should add Wiki to it.I am surely going to use it if you or anyone else makes something like this. WikiPeople will do? I know it's equally lame but that's all I can think of for now. Commenting and all and having a photo journal would even help.I can just imagine what if we had time-lines there and we suffer an invasion of emo kids like MySpace did... That would be such pathetic, their stupidity is okay but even the faux-sadness makes me sad. Comments/testimonials would be pretty good idea 'cause then we don't have to sound so self-obsessed and self-praising. I always wanted something about me on Wiki, and now with this everyone can have one. :lol:Or if you guys are making it from scratch, I don't know how Wiki-based sites are made, but I can surely lend some help with CSS and Minimalistic Graphics, I know this ain't much, but still atleast work will be distributed. :PIf you need any help with this ever, and it's within whatever I can do, I will surely do it. -
I really feel that you should go and ask her out.As Mich said the worse that can happen is she'll say "no". And that would just make you stronger to accept rejections in the future. And after some time it isn't even that hard to get over a "no" unless you really really like that person. I've gone through both rejections but after some time you do get over it.If you can joke around, well then maybe she's dropping hints at you to ask her out? There was no use of her confessing her like towards you in the past if she didn't have a pinch of that liking even now, 'cause if she didn't, then she would've never cared to tell you about this as far as I understand girls. :DI'd say definitely go for it! And yeah, asking out at a casual date would be a great idea like Mich said!

As 11:42 PM is the current time in IST, it's still some time for the Birthday! :DBut yeah, congratulations Xisto and Xisto on your anniversary!Man I am in love with Xisto, not only hosting, it has given me various other things too! Like motivation to get into web-designing and graphic-designing, I was nowhere near those things before coming here. And then those healthy discussions. Just the right kind of environment for any kind of discussion. But it's not the same anymore, the forums used to be greater back then, the service is getting better, but for some weird reason it's tougher to post here now. Maybe this will get solved somehow or the other. And while I was with Xisto, the time in my personal life has been pretty adventurous, so no matter what Xisto comes somewhere or the other in my mind anyways, and I am not joking. :lol:And yes, S_M, I saw your "first" post but the topic was closed back then, right?11:47 PM now, but can't wait to click the "Add Reply" button. :POnce again, Happy Birthday!

Well, I've been interested into computers and web-designing all my life, though I've taken a break for a year to concentrate more on the last year of High School so I graduate with good marks.I used to think that I'll be a software programmer and/or web/graphic designer; but it just doesn't seem right anymore. I mean though I have interest, I have the potential, I won't be able to put up with a "job". Give me a time, give me some motivation, I'll do the job. Give me money and a deadline, I won't do anything.I am planning on taking Automobile Engineering after I've done Science (PCM) in Junior College and appeared for CET. It is based on one of my interests and I would love to go in that field.I will keep up on web/graphic designing even after becoming an Automobile Engineer, though, maybe as freelancing you can say. And at the same time I even want to have a band, but no, not the kinda bands who spend 24 hours on creating music sitting in some studio of some big-time Record Label. I guess if I'll put all of me into music, it'll cut off my life, and without living life one just can't create true and from-the-heart music. Like have a band (bassist, back-up vocalist), play a couple of gigs in and around this area and all-over India if that's possible. And just meet-up on weekends and have jam sessions and writing sessions. And in India 'cause I seriously think this country needs some, I mean all we have are extremely stupid bubble-gum pop artists who keep on singing on how horny they are, how sad they are or either self-obsession. And the Metal scene here is filled with hypocrites who don't even know what Metal is, all they want to is propagate Satanism to sound good and have a chick on their bed every night. So I want to form a decent band myself, most probably a Punk rock band, but with punches of Metal in it.

A really nice tutorial must say.All the tutorials I've seen had many sig-specific details and techniques but here you've mentioned about layer blending, adjustments and tools which many tutorials lack today. These things don't only help in particular sigs but all of them!Loved the ending result, but I prefer blending the layer using feather selection, it makes things easier.

Water Power An Alternative To Gas
sylenzednuke replied to imskaterpunk's topic in Science and Technology
Yeah, this is a known problem, and some people say due to this Fuel Cell cars won't be a possibility in our lifetime. But Ford and General Motors have been trying their lucks over some prototypes and GM thinks they'll be able to mass-produce Fuel Cell cars till 2010. I don't think 2010 will be possible, but we can all just hope that Fuel Cell cars will be the near future. -

Another Mission To Mars Phoenix Mars Mission
sylenzednuke replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in Science and Technology
I agree, considering the raging prices of stuff. But I seriously think we should clean up our own home Earth before setting the foot on Mars just to end up destroying it to. This seems like a second chance for us, but is not a second chance yet. I mean we need to do a lot to save our Earth, Discovery Channel has already predicted that with the current rate we would be off this Earth pretty soon and if we are able to set ourselves up on some other planet or in outer space till that time then what would happen to Earth. It's nice to see the beauty, but when we'll be off the entire Earth would be burning out, just to begin again. Personally I wouldn't like to be on some ship in outer space sending off satellites over Earth to observe the atmosphere every now and then, I would love to live here itself. We need to clean up our own cribs before we set off to infiltrate new grounds. Ditto, just what I was trying to say above. If they are able to bring back samples, then well it'd be pretty good but I am guessing this will be an un-maned mission so I guess there'll just be robotic arms trying to understand and study the soil or whatever up there with most possible precision and then send the data back to Earth. They've already found trails of water, that means water was there on Mars once upon a time, but they aren't that sure as of yet, if that water still exists in the shape of ice caps. I am really looking forward to this mission! -
Water Power An Alternative To Gas
sylenzednuke replied to imskaterpunk's topic in Science and Technology
Well, isn't the world having a dead-end on water already? 8 years and we reach straight to the point-of-no-return. Water is already being used a lot to make up for Electricity and with this, after a decade or so we might not even have water properly. I agree Gas creates pollution but according to me switching over to Water will make things worse. We have some alternatives, Solar Energy as you already mentioned and Fuel Cells, I hope most of us would be knowing about the Fuel Cell technology. It's like they fuse Hydrogen and Oxygen together and in the process of forming water, energy is generated and then pure water is the only exhaust out of it. I guess this is the best we can get, no pollution, no depletion of gas (which could be used by industries more now) and instead we are having more water, though in bits, but the ocean consists of drops too. If you guys would like more information on this you can always visit the Wikipedia article here. I really think we should look towards Fuel Cell driven cars instead of Water driven cars. -
I really like this sig and would love to read the tutorial you would post.I would give this sig 8/10.Love the render, love the background, love the way the background blends into his eyes and the text is quite okay too.The only thin I don't like about this sig is the proportion of the background render (A C4D?). It's much more on the right and less on the left and there is much more glow on the left and comparatively less on the right. :DKeep up the good work!

The .com domain is a re-direction if not in the literal sense. You don't get anything new with that, only difference is, the ".trap17" will be gone and you'll own that domain legally. Extra benefits for more credits is quite a good idea though, many people would be wanting more bandwidth later on, not me for now but I might as well need it later on when I finally start using my hosting effectively. I guess 280 credits for a domain are fine for now, the idea behind it was better service of course but we all can see posting on here isn't as easy as it was a year or some back. So another idea was to motivate members to post more and more according to me. I agree to this too. And about the rules. The tips will be as easily over-looked as the Xisto Readme is if you ask me. Just re-naming it (that's almost what you're doing by writing down "tips") won't be of any help I guess.
