  1. Yes, India does have a cap on how much a user can use but the ISPs are making it worse by even cutting it down. And the internet is not really that much into people's lives here, but it is quite widely, more than it is in America, used here like in cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, all the big cities and North-East areas. So no one really cares for wi-fi or anything of that sort. Until last year, most of us used only dial-up to connect to the internet. I agree that some web-site monitoring technology should be put to use to delete inactive web-sites which are just using up space and bandwidth. But, we are worrying about this and I personally don't think this is ever going to happen. The internet is not run on a simple computer that smash it and it's gone forever. The most that can happen is the copper wires getting over-heated and then the internet not being available in the vicinity, once another method is found to connect, everything's back to normal! I agree, to make it "crash", we do need a God_Virus or WWIII happening. The most that can happen now is connectivity problems, connection to the internet won't be available and I don't see any other damage being caused 'cause of the simple over-heating of the copper wires. I agree, in the past 3 years my own net usage has shot upto like 200% or 300%, and all thanks to so many new things coming up! It's good if Google is actually planning on this and this would be very helpful for the internet and everyone as a whole. Well, I am a total computer addict and not somewhat of an addict. I am and it's just that I can't help it. I myself will have to change my entire lifestyle and everything and I can't imagine my life without the internet, just one day of no connectivity leaves me angry and what not on the ISP! Everything's interconnected with each other, my real life and my cyber life and I don't know how'd it be to live on with just one of them 'cause I got both at the same time and things have been progressing together in the presence of both. But Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming are surely bigger dangers and they definitely should be given more thought than the crash of the Internet.
  2. Quite interesting introduction I must say. Welcome aboard to Xisto.com! The best hosting available. You'll have a nice time in this community and we have pretty helpful and active members here. 3. Yes, though I've not really been to America, as far as I know from movies, America is really way different than most other countries. Not just this, the way people think, their lifestyles, the way they perceive things. And it's both impressing and depressing to see the difference 'cause it's good and bad both according to me in many different ways elaborating on which would go out of topic.I won't really frame it as taking things for granted, 'cause it's just the way it is. Like for you, you never knew that things weren't the same everywhere and so calling it taking things for granted won't really do justice. I am not much of a consumerist culture fan but other areas where the culture in America is different is quite better off.And I even agree to what truefusion said, it can be said for anything and/or anyone. If you visit countries like China and India, you would notice so much of a difference in even the way people think and perceive things. As far personal opinion and experience is concerned, in India people take too many things for granted. Something which I hate about the people here, I can't really stand it but then there are even better and brighter sides to it. And that's the same with every country. There's something which people take for granted in every country, and there are both sides to a culture in each and every country.
  4. An intriguing stance taken here... Could you please ellaborate on this some more? As to why do you think so? I would like to hear all about it! Wow ... so many possibilities of a 6th sense and so many different things coming up, do we like have more than just 1 unknown sense or powers? This seems to be quite much of a possibility too now to me seeing the different replies of people on what they think is our 6th sense. Skin sensing energy let out by other humans, expectancy and telepathy. The question of it being a sense or a power is quite good but first I would like some more concrete knowledge of these strange things that cannot be explained logically or scientifically as of yet. I hope the talk of scientists working on it is real, 'cause this topic is intriguing me more and more. Hope we find out something about it in our life time!
  5. Ack bloody hell ... I got caught up in something, got busy and didn't care for this challenge and now it's 4 AM and I am just bored out of my wits. I'll bang my head and try to sleep.
  6. Okay so I have to get a password off the clue. And I am sure it's related to Julius Ceasar but ah well ... I only know 2 things about him. His name and he had to do something with Rome. I'll try.
  7. I had a look at the page, really got nothing out of it. I am just just not getting what's expected... :)I guess those 100 credits are not for me then...
  8. It's around 4 AM GMT now, so well we've got 14 hours left now ... cool!I am definitely giving this one a try, got around 90 off 3rd Anniversary thread and now this one and a couple of more posts and free domain here I come!
  9. Yeah, even I saw something related to that, but the thing is not that there is some memory glitch. The part of the brain which gives meaning to the image and from our eye takes them to the brain properly kinda stops functioning. So you get pretty absurd dreams as the combination of sense+image is lost and the only facttor here are images, random and utterly absurd. Like flying down with some staircases flying down. Or atleast something like this as far as I remember.
  10. Yeah, some of us are taking this site in the wrong view, we don't want MySpace, we don't want a Wikipedia, this is something inspired by them but not necessarily be like one of them. I personally have a few plans for this site, I might mention them here later or discuss with BooZ if he likes them. Cool, if we'd need help we got one more person to help! Well, take your time. This topic was going nowhere near dying, we were pretty much discussing over this quite well. And this is one idea I really liked and I would surely want to be a part of this. I will give as much help as I can for this site to become a reality.
  11. Yeah, I already said they are just short dreams and mostly insignificant ... like a wave or a handshake for me most of the time. Or just the face of someone I know of, a friend or family. Well, the other senses are mostly based on biological stuff, this thing is more based on how the brain works, certain areas of it. So I guess that's the reason they might've not discovered it. And we already knew pretty well that we could taste, smell, hear, feel and see. But we just named them the 5 senses later on. We don't even know for now what exactly this is ... so it's hard to say anything judgemental on this. Only hypothetical views can be laid down on this topic as far as my knowledge is concerned.
  12. I think this is quite much a probability as I have had dreams consisting of 7 to 8 weird things with no link together and the only thing I remember is that I had a dream, nothing else. And then later on when those events occur we realize we had seen it somewhere ... maybe in a dream according to me.
  13. You can say I agree to everything salamangkero said. Deja Vu is quite common to me, has happened like more than 10 times to me and everytime it were such weird scenarios that weren't even of any importance, like some were just waves or handshakes. And yeah, we don't have any control over it, but I do think that some Deja Vu's partly occur in our dreams. I remember having weird big 8 to 9 non-interconnected dreams and then suddenly when I wake up I forget about them. Then we see the image again in future and we think that we saw this somewhere. I know scientifically dreams are meant to be awkward as the mind does not parse any rational link between the images. They are just images from our memory shown randomly in a weird and twisted way. The only use of this for now is amusing us. Only when scientists find out a way to control Deja Vu and more and more about it will we ever be able to put it into use. And I personally believe that human attention is a form of energy and so is even our presence. There is some unknown energy inside us, and I am not speaking of the heat energy developed from our body at all ... but somewhere along the line though. And I agree with the latter too. The population has risen significantly in recent decades. We can see in movies and all that are inspired by reality that all fighters, warriors or Kung Fu practitioners were able to sense something, they most of the time would be able to sense enemies nearby, or even another human be it a friend or a foe. Their years of practice in not so crowded places and near nature might've made their extra sense of sensing this energy higher or stronger. This is what I think might've been the case. We cannot always find someone staring at us at a public place. But we do get certain feeling when we are not in a crowded place and especially when there is only us or one or 2 friends with us. And it's good to see that scientists are actually working on this, and there isn't even a reason for them to be loud on this one as I think. But whatever I said is of course hypothetically speaking as slamangkero said.
  14. Well, I feel really sorry for this and I know exactly how he must've died, 'cause my Mom is having an enlarged heart too, but she's doing well with medicines and we got it checked early enough for 17% of her heart to still be working properly. Now 53% of her heart is working after 2 years and it'll be more than 70% in another year and then she's completely safe.Good thing your Mom never told you younger brother about this at that moment, he might've got scared, my Mom never told me for a week that my great grand mother died at the age of 97! But it's good to see how your Mother handled the situation very well.Hope you guys carry on very well even after his departure. Good luck!
  15. Wow, now that sounds really grand! I can't imagine how you would've felt 'cause first I am a guy and I haven't had mine as of yet ... just never found the right girl and the right moment. I always had this tendency to stay away from girls until last year and now most of my good friends are girls.
  16. I don't know why people are so Vista Crazy when even Ubuntu with Beryl is so way better than this, atleast you ain't fooling yourself by using that. :)I'd stick to Windows XP with Microsoft Zune XP Theme, I love the black and orange combo and Ubuntu with Beryl. I kinda dislike Vista for many random reasons. Thanks for posting though, many users might find this good.
  17. I guess m_b pretty much cleared out, and that were the exact reasons why I was still in for this button feature. Most people don't use the notepad and I don't even think they will as it's placed at an "unproper" place according to me, if they had another page for it ... maybe it would've come under people's eyes but as long as it is in the CP, no one will use it much. The reason can't be explained, it's just that it is.New ideas and suggestions are always a good place to post, I don't have to think much while typing, the posts are generally longer than usual and loads of credits, don't know why I never cared to get into this area.
  18. I like this idea! And as jlhaslip said, one of the Admins will have to review this suggestion before anything can be done to it.It can be quite useful for people who have 3 or 4 of them in their sigs, it would tell the readers what lies behind the hidden box...
  19. Well, yeah. I did mean code-wise because I don't think any of us members here actually know just how exactly the credit system has been coded, we can't really expect anything until we know how it works and/or some Admin or MODs who know about it post on this thread voicing their opinion about this button. Now this is one feature that was ignored second most, after the Preview feature by me! I'll start using it from now, seems to be pretty handy. And I agree with you on all points here, personal notepad does seem like one handy tool and could definitely be put to use pretty properly! But I am still with having a draft button as an idea for now, for a future MOD for IPB. And as you said you have no place to see drafts, like we have posts and topics section on our profile, we could as well have one for draft. And once it is finally posted as a post, the draft gets deleted from the database. Which would save up space too. But it'll take a while for this to work according to me, IPB, Xisto Credit system! And then in the drafts section you could have options to delete the draft entirely without actually posting it there, I know these are too many features but we need all of these to actually make the actual button/feature work efficiently. I'll use Notepad and my personal notepad on my CP for now but I am still in for the idea.
  20. Nice tutorial, maybe no technically but gives a way to more and more ideas for graphics of a similar kind. Will try this one soon and yeah you can add that to give it a more "wraparound" effect, one can erase some parts of the wire as we aren't really using Drop Shadow there.
  21. I think this is one good idea. I usually save my posts and other things such as scraps (orkut) on Notepad when I have to do something in very urgent and leave the computer.I'm guessing installing it will be not that easy, but I guess it'll be worth it. But then, it should get deleted and we shouldn't have two things taking space on the database, the final post and the draft. I have never used the "Preview" button ever while posting on Xisto I guess. It'll create less problems for someone who said something they later realized they shouldn't had, or to lessen the load on Admins and MODs. They already edit the topics, I guess the "Save as Draft" thing would help in some other ways too.But what if it might be clashing with the credit system? No one knows how exactly OpaQue coded it. Maybe Buff does, but still. I am waiting for his reply on this topic then.
  22. WOW! THANKS MICHAEL!But I am sure if you spent an hour in the making, 50 would be for BordaForx and 10 for me, just brushing. :DBut still, looks really great! Thanks!
  23. I am guessing it has something to do with Invision Power Board and not Xisto. There might be some mods available but for now I guess only Admins and MODs can do it.
  24. I live in Mumbai, India. It's one of the biggest cities in India and also the commercial capital ... what New York is for U.S.A. is what Mumbai is for India. Here there's hardly anything you will not find. From everything bad to everything good. I live in one of the Northern suburbs and it's pretty good here too. Gang's and all are there, but not small-time, all work under utmost secrecy and all have their Godfather in the name of Dawood, the big time gangster who is supposedly hiding in Dubai right now. Many number of schools and great colleges too. Drugs and prostitution is rampant over here too, but almost everything here is rampant, every little thing you can possibly think of.US residents might know how it is in New York, it's basically the same here with not much difference. We have tall skyscrapers to a huge slum area, the biggest in Asia at Dharavi, it comes somewhere in the central part of Mumbai. The Southern side of the city has mainly old buildings which were made by the Britishers and is now the working force of Mumbai, all the offices and everything is there but it still is a quite moderate residential area. The Southern side are basically suburbs and residential areas with not many big corporations here and the Central side is mainly completely residential area with slums on one side and one of the best area on one side. It's pretty big so it has got everything, you can't really list down everything. Everything from gangs to good schools, from local tea shops to big malls.
  25. As per those ugly layouts, we were thinking of having a blank web-page, or a templates system that can be edited quite a bit with CSS and HTML. Like it can be on hi5! And the thing of letting them do stuff with PHP was never the topic at all. No one wanted the users to have PHP on their pages, they might as well get themselves a web-site if that's the case. And even if we give them access to just HTML, some people are capable enough to make their profiles look ugly with that too! But here, look at it as a BIG essay, and not a profile where people will have glitter-graphics with text "I am Cool!" or whatever ... it won't even be a blog where you put your everyday happenings, just basic things about your life, how you've gone through it, the most memorable times and stuff like that. While thinking of this, remove the entire "social networking" thing from the topic and add only one word "autobiography", maybe the image will be clearer then. The only thing which will make it quite much of a social networking site will be the ability to make friends over the site and then maybe let them edit certain parts of the autobiography or their page. And the image and video hot-linking are just to link memorable videos and certain pics to aid the autobiography. I personally don't want it to become another MySpace. And as I see it, you definitely aren't looking at it as I am. I am waiting for BooZker's call about everything and the voting. It's his idea so it's upto him what he wants to make this site into. I have sadly never seen good-looking Wiki pages except for Unclyclopedia, Wikipedia and some other Wikis related to web-based things like forum softwares. You really don't need to put all info onto that page, it's not like your blog where you mention stuff about everyday life. Only the basic outline and no one's asking you to display your e-mail address there but it isn't even that hard to grab someone's nowadays. I for one wouldn't really mind using this service.
