At first, I thought the end word was following a repetition pattern, something like a sestina. However, I can't pick up one if it is. To be honest, the idea and the wording leaves something to be desired (if you arn't purposely doing an end word pattern, then mix it up). Just an opinion though.

You're a lucky dude lol. Maybe is was diesel instead of gasoline .

Other then some wordiness/repetitive nature in a few spots, I like them. For example, instead of wrting "Blood flows down my leg hitting the white tiled floorbelow. My red blood against the white of the tiles would seem "try something like:"Blood flows down my leg hitting the white tiled floorbelow. My blood against the pallid porcelain would seem ..."That just sounds better to me. Maybe others will disagree.

People In The South Moving To The Us Should it be more strict.
ThoughtVoid replied to zachtk8702's topic in The Vent
I amazed that some one hasn't pointed out that we don't loose the majority of our jobs to hispanics, or any immigrants in that case (Remember, even native americans migrated here at one point). Besides, the jobs that "americans" (as defined by who I ask myself?) can't get because of the immigrant are not the jobs we need to worry about. These are mininum wage service employments primarily. The majority of our jobs, both well paying, and low wage, arn't being lost to other americans. They are being lost to other countries. Asia has turned into our production facility, and the Middle east (primarily India, but others as well) is now our tech headquarters. Why not? Their children are better educated, will work for a lower wage, and the government's tax rates are extremely low in most other countries. So, I say if you want jobs to return to this country you have one of two options. The first is stop buying foriegn products. If you have to pay more, then remember you are paying an American, and the currency is staying here. If you don't like that idea, then the only other option is a large tarrif on imported goods. One thats adds enough to the price of companies that it becomes more affordable to employ Americans (no matter what color they are) then to employ foriegn citizens. Of course, we coud do nothing and complain about smaller issues like foriegn immigration. -
This is really odd, since I just found the point/meaning to life on a run last night. Like said before, there is no point. I reached this idea by imagining if a nuclear weapon were to detonate in my area, killing me and everyone I've ever known. Was there a point to my life? I left no mark, no legacy, I'm just a forgotten victim to history. Or a grander scale, the entire earth is destroyed. Did anything matter? The truth is, no matter what we do, it is all meaningless. Sure, quality of your life can be improved, but the outcome is the same none the less. Life is not static. Nothing in the Universe is static...everything we know changes randomly, possibly dynamically. Also said before, a meaning to life is a human feature added by our lovely higher brain functions.

I guess my post for Asics didn't spark anyone's intrests. Either that or no one uses them. I swear by their products, better then either of these two up for debate. http://www.asics.com/de/de-de/

Worst Health Article Of All Time This really disgusts me
ThoughtVoid replied to Caveman's topic in Health & Fitness
Your post perplexes in so many ways it's mind blowing. On one hand you say that it is ok to be vegan or vegitarian because it's healthier, or because you get to save the animals. Well frankly, I don't do it for either reason. It's not as if every piece of meat I walk by my mouth starts salavating. Quite the opposite. I already said I'd prefere a fresh salad to a $25 dollar steak for taste...I wasnt lying. Next, I have a hard switching my belief on fat (3%-8%) because of your post. You seem be questionable on what a carbohydrate is, and confusing it with cholesterol. I'm sorry, but if you can't tell me the difference between LDL and HDL cholesterol, Im never going to believe you're theory that we need that much fat in our diet. Sure, it is an interegral part; but the body really only uses it during long heavy work outs. Otherwise it will expend the refined sugars which by the sound of it you likely consume those in gross as well. -
Microsoft Windows Bill Gates Edition?
ThoughtVoid replied to rudeturk's topic in Science and Technology
Why do people expect Bill Gates to have a different version then anyone else on his computer? I don't think that many realize that Gates has gone from a major programmer to the CEO of microsoft. Remember, Microsoft is one of the richest companies in the world. Gates simply wouldn't have time to program his own version of windows which he would only have. His staff would have to do it for him...thats what they're there for. -
The Most Idiotic Thing You Heard A Christian Say
ThoughtVoid replied to Dodger's topic in General Discussion
I guess I wasn't clear. The best example I can think of right now is the world being created in 7 days. So this would be the "X" in my formula. Therefore the conversation goes something like this: "Do you really believe the earth was created in 7 days?" "Yes" "How do you know?" "The bible says so." "How can you trust such an old, highly translated doctument that suggests someting so implausible as an explanatino for the creation of earth?" "Faith" This is the conversation that I was refrencing. You could put almost anything in for "X" and the situation would still probibly follow relatively close. -
I loved middle school. I had moderate acne so most of the "cool" kids (pot smoking asses) tried to pick on me (ok, maybe not "loved it" but you know what I mean...). What they didn't realize is that I both ran cross country, and more importanly wrestled. Thus I wieght lifted every day. The first time they started I pushed them to a corner and told them they ought to stop or the sight wasnt going to be pretty for them . Now I really don't have any problems since I still keep up my workout (although I'm a lot stronger now...) and my face is clear. So whats my advice? Scare the living S*** out of them, and if they don't listen then carry out those threats. Remember, friends don't antagonize friends.

The Most Idiotic Thing You Heard A Christian Say
ThoughtVoid replied to Dodger's topic in General Discussion
Ok my answer is somewhat generic and a conversation that every fellow athiest has been engaged in during their lives sometime:"Do you believe X is true?" "Yes.""How do you know?""Faith/The bible"Either on of these two answers make me just walk away and shake my head as they finish the sentence. It's just to blatently ignorant. -
Worst Health Article Of All Time This really disgusts me
ThoughtVoid replied to Caveman's topic in Health & Fitness
For one I just want to ask how old you are dexter. I have a feeling that your age is going to catch up with you one day and you wont find that eating in excess wont make you "gain a pound". As for me, I'd rather have a large salad with red roasted pepper vinegarette, tofu, and almonds on top then anything listed. Not just because it's healthier....but I actually believe it tastes better. Plus, after being a near vegitarian for so long, plants give me a "clean" feeling when I eat them as apposed to something soaked in lard (dougnuts or french fries). Hard to explain I suppose. In the end though, I woud like to say that it is not so much as to what you eat. Rather, the shape and physice that you stay in has more to do with what you burn. Potenially you could eat nothing but food from a vending machine and remain quite fit (although not healthy since prossessed food lacks many things needed by the body). All you have to do is run. Try it...I love to run now . -
I don't really mean to bicker or start a politcal war on this post. However, how is a nuclear sub keeping us safe 350 miles south of Guam? It's not like it is patrolling the hot waters of the atlantic during WW2 here. Nor is it that there is any naval fleet in the world with the capabilities ours has at current time. Russia (using US news of course...) as a naval power is falling apart, they rust in the harbor. So what is the point of keeping these subs so active around the world? Do we really need to be 350 miles south of Guam? I don't believe so.

Speed Up Firefox Even More! A way to speed up firefox
ThoughtVoid replied to antny's topic in Science and Technology
Hmmmm, I followed the steps above and tested them out. Although I don't have any software to measure the speed increase or decrease, I can tell you that it atleast did not slow firefox down any. I might even agree that this helped the speed. Who knows...maybe it makes a substancial differnce for non-high speed connections. I do know that I'm to lazy to go back and change these to recompare speeds lol. -
Windows is the most pointless rip off in computers that I know of. They make you buy one version, and support it and it's software equivalents for a period of time. Then, microsoft writes a new version of the same thing with added protection from user use and makes it incompatible, or lacking in support. Thus forcing you to spend hundreds every few years. Moral of my story...go linux and fluxbox.

Online Begging This guy really wants a Mac
ThoughtVoid replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
Hmmmm....my question is why doesnt he switch to linux if his only problem is that he hates windows? I don't really believe that he needs, or wants a Mac Mini. He jsuts wants some money. Good idea lol...something I might think to try one day . -
I don't agree. I could then just go to howstuffworks, find 15 different artcles and post them in their repsective area. Now I have 15 long posts, and legally its clean because I gave a citation, but who really did the work? Does the person who pressed control+c really deserve the hosting space, or does the author of the article for hsw deserve it? See my point?

Why are you even going through college? Seriously, if you don't want to do the work, then don't go. College is to learn your trade or fine tune a skill. If the work is that terrible to you, then jesus, either find a course that is fun or leave and find something else that fits you. Remember, college really isnt the answer to getting a job that you want; working at that goal is. Besides, college professors use resources to match papers that are avaible over the internet. The only way you can get away with being lazy today is by getting it written by someone else for money.

It seems to me, that if you are athiest, it won't cover anything. Since you don't have a god, how can he act upon your new sony radio? lol. On the other hand, the opposite side of the spectrum has another problem. If god is omnipitent, which most would claim that he would be, then every thing we do has been detirmed by god. Thus, everything is an act of god? So basically, when looking at it through religious eyes, you have no warrenty. Lucky for me, I'm the athiest in these two senarios.

Being a heavy competitive runner, I seem to like my shoes. Adidas makes about the worst running shoe I have ever felt. Same with reebok. Nike's shoes, while comfortable, fall apart rather quickly. So, I don't use any of the above. Generally, I stick to New Balance and Asics. NB have decent feel, and great durability. Asics....well they are my competition shoe . They are simply the best running show I have ever used.

Tech Is Advancing Too Fast For It's Own Good?
ThoughtVoid replied to ICE-XG's topic in Science and Technology
Well, by your logic, it is bad that the average life span in idustrialized nations has already doubled in the past 500-600 years. Remember, they arn't even close to figuring out how to alter the life span, or most of the genome for that matter. In fact, they cant even figure out what more then half of it does, if it does anything. -
I am not saying it won't hurt your eyes. After all, you are subjecting a body organ to some amount of energy. However, what I am saying is that a white light has more energy then a yellow light. This is because the higher end of visible light (required to be "mixed" with visible light to create a white light) contains more energy per photon. Therefore, a white light of the same wattage as a yellow light will have ever so slightly more energy. The green, blue and violent ends of the visible light carry more energy. Hope this explains what I mean.

When Was The Last Time You Watched A Television? Poll
ThoughtVoid replied to Donegal's topic in General Discussion
Watching as I type...a recorded (via Replay TV ) play off football game. I can't help but watch is when I sit in this room...its a 37" LCD HDTV lol. How can I resist watching such a clear picture? Not to mention when I put the computer input on it. Excellent for gaming. -
lol, I have fluorescent bulbs in my bath room, and have never had a problem with that. But anyway, the thread isn't dealing with fluorescent bulbs, they use gas to light the room. The topic is on LED. They light up faster then any iridescent light could hope to. Simply because they don't require the heat of a wire to reach operating temperature. They just immediately emit visible light. This is why many auto manufactures are now using LED brake lights; they are more vivid and give the person behind you slightly better reaction times.
