Which Is Faster Broadband, Dsl Or Cable
antitrust replied to football123213's topic in Science and Technology
On general terms and speed capibilities, Cable can reach way higher speeds than ADSL. However, ADSL is getting faster these days...But for a more all-rounded comparision, ADSL is more stable in terms of speed and is affected by network traffic to a lesser extent that cable.Cable is largely affected by network traffic and may experience speed swings. But I would say that on a nice day, with moderate network traffic, cable would beat ADSL anytime. -
Windows Xp Update Starts To Weed Out Pirate Keys Look out
antitrust replied to shyam's topic in Science and Technology
If you have a pirated copy of XP its your own stupid fault, really in my opinion. Theres plenty of ways to get legit software, I don't think you should even be allowed "the most critical updates". Grow up and do it properly. Just a thought: Microsoft can tell if your version of XP is pirated. Presumably they knew this all along, so why dont they just terminate unregistered/pirated versions of XP? Just a thought.... I guess its probably not that simple. COPIED POST -

I use the word *BLEEP* but I don't mean teh group of people. I use it in the context of which it is used today. Sure some people still mean for it to relate to a homosexual. But I don't use it in that context and thus I can't really be blamed for it being a word. People use words for many different meanings. I am sorry you are offended by it, but just know that if I ever called you it, I wouldn't mean it in the derogatory way.

Which Is Faster Broadband, Dsl Or Cable
antitrust replied to football123213's topic in Science and Technology
I would have probably gone out for cable, except for a tiny technicality. My place is already saturated with cable subscribers all from the same company, and that means whatever speed benefits it offers, in the end we have to share the bandwidth amongst ourselves. So DSL is my choice. -
Actually I'm finding the right linux operating system for me... I can recommend you one, it's called Bayanihan Linux (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) or Peanut Linux (search it at google) I'm sure that your going to love the two... Those are very friendly Linux versions for a Windows user like you who would like to switch to Linux... If you still don't like the two, use Mandrake Linux... you can search their website at google also...

Linux Is Not UniXthats where the name comes from. Unix is older, much older than Linux so you can't really say Linux is more stable. FreeBSD is probably one of the most stable systems out there and a favorite of corporate servers. But I could never get used to the small differences between the two and always ended up using Linux.edit: ah you mention gentoo pbrugge, now that is an impressive distro!

I looked it up. It seems that the new ADM 64 processor has a built in protection versus buffer overflow security leaks (as where arrays crash because they are too small). Check out this site. As with the future version of windows, that's hardly 'protection'. It's a controll where the vendor can check what you do with the content of your HD to ensure you don't have any illegal stuff on your PC. Garanteed security leaks.

With GUI's such as Gnome and KDE being implemented, you don't have to type 'program -ow -x 300 -a 'zxcv -tghj -p9' to start anything, you just need to click on it as you would with Windows. Many of the Linux flavors are becoming more like Windows in the way that the user interacts with them, and are becoming much easier to use.

NO ONE IN THIS WORLD! would offer anything for free. [ charity organisations are exceptions ]. Even this host, wants us to visit the forums, put good information ( for search engine ranking ) and also expects us to Click the banners for all his maintainace stuff and hosting expenses.FORUMS take a hell lot of BAndwidth and as the Admin stated he has purposely put it on diffrent servers. Well, there has to be a catch. Even though they give forum hosting, I bet they will put their ADS. I rather prefer creating my own. It hardly takes an hour or so. But atleast, you are assured that u have complete control. What if the company closes down suddenly. I have come to this host because he has already Got a diffrent Site altogether and FORUMs are only a part of it. TOO Less chances of this company shutting down.

Two POints:1. It sounds to me like the PC you already have is completley sufficinet for running practically any game eveer made anyway, so why the upgrade.2.Go for AMD, because I use a 64 bit AMD processor and Coutner Strike runs like a dream, I dont think the manufacturer really makes a huge difference, but 64 bit would be benifit, and AMD are cheap (even money s apparently not a problem...)

Hmmm?.This thread is not taking off yet. I?ll start? Has anyone ever done threading before? I have done a little bit in Java for two of my school courses but it was two or three years ago so I forgot most of it. I didn?t like the Java threading model because there was no concept of priority, no rules for which orders the threads get executed in and their was no built in way to interrupt the threads. That is not to say you couldn?t interrupt the threads if you new some obscure system commands. Of course you don?t need to use the built-in threading libraries of a language. You can use an external library. The two I might learn are windows 32 threads and p threads. Anyone else have any thoughts, stories etc, on threading?

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...I think it looks cool, but I still wouldn't want to get it...'cause it's probably not worth it to me. I'm not interested in viewing video, and I listen to MP3s on my comp. I'm not a big music fan, and I wouldn't need the video part, so that's why I wouldn't get it. Well, this is a copy of Hamtaro's post on the first page of this topic posted in October! Antitrust, you are suspended, till you apologize and promise not to do so again. Googlue!

That image looks fabulous for an intro page. The only problem you might run across is the text. It's a little difficult to read being as thin as it is. But other than that that is perfect.

i use thunderbird, becuase i support open source software and just about anything the good people from mozilla make. its supposed to be more secure than outlook, but i really dont care about that. it just has a lot more features than outlook express and is easier to use.
