I have a presentation due on the 4th of June, which I have made a website for. One of the main things that we get graded on is our appearance (100 points out of the total 150). I think this is perhaps the best template I have ever made, but I would really like to see what other people think of it. I still have to fill in all the information, but how is the coloring and layout? Any feedback would be very appreciated. My Project

Gaming In Win2k, Programming In Ubuntu
ghostrider replied to masugidsk8r's topic in Operating Systems
I'm using Windows XP and Knoppix 5.1, but the concept is still the same. I'm on Knoppix most of the time. I do all of my web design on Knoppix because of the fact that it has line numbers (unlike Notepad). I rarely use Windows since it seems to go pretty slow for whatever reason, but I use that if I need to develop a Windows application for someone, or if I feel like playing Halo. , I will use it.I use a flash drive to transfer my files between Windows and Knoppix. Knoppix still doesn't like writing on NTFS formatted drives, and Windows doesn't read the ex3 file system I'm running on my Linux partition. -
Can't Access Cpanel Or anyone elses for that matter
ghostrider replied to ghostrider's topic in Web Hosting Support
I just sent my e-mail to Tra17 support. Hopefully I'll get this resolved soon. Thanks jhaslip for the credits :-D, much appreciative. I also can't reset my cPanel password. Anyone have any ideas about that? -
Can't Access Cpanel Or anyone elses for that matter
ghostrider posted a topic in Web Hosting Support
After I got hacked I had the wonderful job of getting my password back. I did get my password back, however there is a problem. I was only able to get into my cPanel once with the password and my computer crashed (I hate Linux for the browser shutting down randomly), before I could change it. I understand the hacker could have easily changed it. What concerns me however is that I cannot get into anyone else's cPanel on Xisto either, from any of the computers on my home network. I am guessing that Xisto blocked my IP address for so many failed login attempts. I reset the cable modem, so that maybe I could get a new IP address, but that did nothing. But it is true that the cable modem could have retained the same IP address after it was shut down and restarted. Can anyone offer any insight as to why this is happening? P.S. I will be resetting my password as soon as I amass ten credits. I'm currently at about 4. I take security of my website and Xisto very seriously and will have it reset as soon as possible. -
I still think I'll use Google. I'm looking into getting Google AdSense sometime this summer.

Getting shots and having blood drawn actually doesn't freak me out that much at all. It really used to though, when I was little. I guess I'm fortunate to have veins that stick out so it makes the nurse easy to inject stuff into me and take blood out. When they take my blood I actually watch them do it. Its fascinating really. But I can totally understand why people hate it. I think it would start to hate it if it became a regular thing for them to do to me. The only thing I particularly didn't like is when I got scoped. The nurse kept hitting my hand (I believe she was trying to get the veins to show better) while the other one was trying to talk to me. It was hard to pay attention to her.

What exactly do you mean by the action script? There is no way we can help you unless you elaborate more on your problem.

An Application To 'track' Homework.. Should I go for it?
ghostrider replied to ghostrider's topic in Science and Technology
Thanks for all of your posts . Its nice to get 3 in one day. I made my decision, and I will be developing this over the summer, for use next school year. I'll keep all you guys posted on how development is going. -
I personally like Knoppix quite a lot. It is a different type of Linux that runs totally off of a CD-ROM. These are called Live CD's. You don't need to install anything, it detects all of your hardware and configures it, and you don't need to mess with any partitions whatsoever. You can also install it onto your hard drive (like I did yesterday), and it runs just like normal, perhaps even a little faster . I'll be releasing a tutorial on how to download and use Knoppix, and even install it on a hard drive. Ubuntu and Kubuntu are also good Linux distros. I have yet to use them, but I have heard many great things about them. Good luck and switching , and thanks for supporting Open Source!

Which Media Burner Is Better? Easy Media Creator 7.0 OR Nero 6.6.0.6
ghostrider replied to bigboss's topic in Software
Personally I like Nero a lot better than Roxio. I find that Nero is much easier to burn stuff with, and Roxio so much. When I had Roxio I found it harder to use. Once I got my DVD burner and Nero, I like it instantly. Its userface is easier for me, and the flame is cool. It also has so many more features than Roxio does. Nero is the best choice. -
Microsoft Pay $6 Billion For Aquantive Online Ad Agency
ghostrider replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Business Forum
I agree with NNH1254, I hope that Microsoft doesn't combine Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo. I wouldn't be suprised if they are buying this ad company to try to take down Google. I don't really see that happening any time soon. I also don't see 6 billion dollars bringing them close to being bankrupt at all. Regardless of whether we want them to go bankrupt or not, their software is on 90% of the computers in the world. -
Two years ago I designed a program called Homework Helper. It is a program that was designed to help you organize all of your homework, projects, tests, and other various things. I've always had the dream to turn it into a web based application, but until recently I didn't have the PHP skills to do so. Now I do. If I were to design it, it would allow you to keep track of your homework, upcoming projects and tests, and would also be able to send reminders via e-mail, AIM, and even text messages. I'd also like to have it work with mobile phones. My question to you is this, does it sound like something worth designing, and is there anything that I should consider adding if I do design it? I've had pretty good responses so far . Hopefully you guys think its a good idea too.

I've developed software for 11 years (this Decemeber), and it is my personal belief that once you learn to program, it doesn't really matter what language you are using. Think about it. Your thoughts about how to make it work are the same, the language is just how you make your thoughts work. You still have the problem solving skills to work through problems that you come across in programming, and hopefully creativity. Those will not change, regardless of what language you use.I have an excellent set of tutorials that I am developing for learning the language PHP, a language used for creating dynamic webpages. While they are only about half way done, they still cover the basics of PHP, and you can create something with it if you can piece together the basic concepts(another skill that you probably have).Good luck to you, and happy coding!

What Makes The Web So Great? What is it?
ghostrider replied to SNiped's topic in Science and Technology
The internet is great for many reasons. Firstly, and probably most importantly, is that it allows people to communicate with each other, and gives us the ability to meet new people. I know people from all over the world because of the internet, and also have met many people that live near me. It also allows us to communicate rapidly, which is quite nice. People being able to communicate faster than ever has been able to increase productivity between companies, and makes it easier for people to build relationships faster. The second reason I think the internet is great is because of all the knowledge and information. It is so easy to look up exactly what you need, even with some complex topics. It brings specialists in certain fields together, and allows all people to share their ideas with one and another. My third and final reason is that from the economic standpoint, it has created thousands of new jobs, and billions of dollars that would not be spent, without the internet. It also allows us to purchase and sell products to a greater amount of people. The internet really is a great thing -
Today I got Knoppix 5.1 working off of my hard disk. It has some small problems however. Certain applications don't work, like me trying to change the time as it is off on my computer. The partitioner GParted does not work either. All of these produce the same error message. Can anyone offer some insight as to why this is happening, and how to correct it?

The username is a field with a letters, the primary key has to be a number. I generally use a field that i call id for all my primary keys.

The fact that only large files don't work makes me think that the script is not working due to a lack of memory. I believe Xisto allocates 4 megabytes of RAM for each account to use, and no more. I'm not familiar with the internal workings of the image functions of PHP, but it could be very likely its converting the file to a different (and probably larger) format, so that it can be manipulated by all the imaging functions of PHP with ease.My advice: Get a server with PHP running on your own computer, and try it there. If it works, its a memory problem. If it doesn't, post back .

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ What do you recommend to do about this? The hacker goes to my school, and I have enough evidence against him to press charges. This is my first time hacked however, and would like some incite as to what I should do. EDIT: The title should be "I Got Hacked", not "I Got Hacker". Notice from truefusion: Changed title. Please report to have the title changed, next time.

Auto Pruning An Sql Database With Php How can i do this?
ghostrider replied to shadowx's topic in Programming
Use your idea of adding a field with the month, but just keep incrementing the months as the years go by. For example, January would be one (or whatever month you choose to start on), Februrary would be two, but January of next year would 13. Its not as hard as it sounds. You can find out what month it is based on this equation.Let y = year you startedLet m = current monthLet z = current year12(z - y) + mDoes this help? -
This is a very sad thing to hear, but I doubt Microsoft will win. Even if they do win, there's programmers like me that will just develop something in better . One of my goals for myself is to have a working operating system before the end of high school, that is written from scratch.I too use Windows, but I have Linux on a livecd. Knoppix rules. I find that its better for web development, because it has KWrite, which is the best text editor ever.

Circles Don't Exist? a theory of existance
ghostrider replied to galexcd's topic in General Discussion
A circle is simply an infinite-gon with all congruent sides. That proves it geometrically. -
Was it contrast solution? That stuff is horrid.

Tomorrow around 10 AM I'm getting a procedure done called scoping. This is the equivalent of you going to going to a hospital, getting an anistetic, and them sticking a camera down your throat so that they can look inside of your stomach. Preparing for being scoped really sucks. The day before (today for me), you can only drink water, light colored gatorades, and jello (lemon and lime). You also have to take this really powerful laxative . An during the next hour I have to drink 64 ounces of water or Gatorade to make sure that I'm not dehydrated. The next day I wake up at 6 AM to take the second dose of laxative and then go to the hospital around 9 AM. I get the anistetic and then my Gastroenterologist scopes me. The good thing is that I get to eat all I want afterwards. I don't know if I really want to though. They are also biopsying my stomach, and that sounds painful. If I can I will provide a picture of the inside of my stomach as long as it isnt too gross looking. My dad, who is a doctor, says that they take pictures for reference.
