Windows System Restore Leads To System Crash
FirefoxRocks replied to Panzer's topic in Operating Systems
Try booting into Safe Mode Command Prompt Only (or something similar). Are you able to do that?If so, check the C:\WINDOWS\FONTS folder. Do this:1. C:2. cd windows\fonts3. dirIf you find no files in there, copy some from a CD, another computer or somewhere else. That is likely the problem. The files that need to be extracted are *.ttf and *.fon.Hope that helps. -

If you are running Windows XP on a FAT32 partition, the VFAT files may have been damaged. Also, Windows TrueType fonts may be missing.Check to make sure. -
Basic Guide To Mirc - Installation And Settings
FirefoxRocks replied to brautigam's topic in General Discussion
I use Opera's integrated IRC client. Easy to setup (well for me) and nice interface. You should try it instead of downloading a separate IRC client. -
Absolute zero is 0K, -459.67F or -273.15C.It is when there is the maximum absence of heat, causing molecules to stop moving. It is theoretically impossible to obtain this temperature. No substance has reached a temperature of 0K as of this time.Kelvin is the SI unit of temperature.Celsius is the Canadian unit of temperature.Fahrenheit is the American unit of temperature.Rankine is, well, a unit of measuring temperature (rarely used I think).

Sorry, but I'm not willing to buy partitioning software just for the purpose of this task. Of course I've heard of Partition Magic. It is by PowerQuest (now Symantec).I need instructions on using FDISK, FORMAT and/or EXTRACT to this. Or a freeware program that can convert FAT32 to FAT16. Either option will work.Note: After uninstalling non-essential programs and Windows Components. I have around 470 MB of data (Windows/Compaq/System). I think these files are necessary for the correct operation of Windows 98 with my computer.

I have an older Windows 98 computer. I need to compress drive C:, which means I need FAT 16 partition. The problem is that when I run QuickRestore to factory defaults, it autmatically converts to FAT32. FDISK and FORMAT have been tried. I cannot put Windows 98 back into C: after it has been formatted because the CD "requires Microsoft Windows to be running" to work.I have tried copying C: drive contents to a separate partition (E:) and then copying it back to C: when reformatted. The result, it changed all my folders and files to MS-DOS Filenames and it deleted a whole bunch of fonts (which I eventually got back by copying them from the Windows 98 CD). Drivers were missing and I didn't know where to find them. The computer didn't work properly after that, so now I'm running Compaq QuickRestore on the computer.Any other options that I should try? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 has been released to the public as of August 24, 2006.I found out through my email subscription to Microsoft. All users of Internet Explorer 7 BETA 2 and Internet Explorer BETA 3 are encouraged to upgrade Internet Explorer to the current version (RC1) to experience better functionality and improved web browsing experience.BETA 3 did not work for me so I switched back to BETA 2. Internet Explorer 7 RC 1 has worked fine for me right now, however I have not noticed any difference from BETA 2 yet. BETA 3 caused a "Send Error Report" dialog box each time I restarted the software. My experience trying to uninstall IE 7 BETA 2:- Corrupted uninstallation file- Redownloaded uninstallation files- Error while uninstalling- Tried uninstalling on different user accounts- Uninstalled all toolbars- Found out that you need to click Reset Settings for it to work - Uninstalled the BETA 2I was so mad until I found Microsoft's article on User Account errors.

Google is not only a search engine, but a powerful set of tools for the office and the Internet. If you have noticed in Google Labs and Google BETA Software, that Google has released many pieces of software that can be helpful for home and/or offices.

I advise that you stay away from this method. It doesn't seem really trustworthy, and the link doesn't work now.Browse the forum topic for more Make Moneky Ideas.

30 Gb Mail Account For Free On Internet
FirefoxRocks replied to heaven_master_ash's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, your password can't be too secure on that service. And you need to be 18+ to sign up.I can't and don't want to sign up for this. -
First of all, I rate yoru Tutorial a 2/10. It works, but it is completely, erm, bad. :PYou should never use <font> tags. They are depreciated and they will not work in the future. Use CSS to customize your web pages. All attributes NEED to be in quotation marks, otherwise they aren't valid.Tags need to be lowercase, which you have it okay.We are past year 2000, we need to teach proper XHTML, not HTML anymore. <br> tags need to become <br />. META tags need to self-close also.Stricter and cleaner web we are working for, not cluttering it with <font> and other depreciated tags again!

What Would You Do If There Was No Internet? hmm...
FirefoxRocks replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
Without Internet, I would do things without using the Internet, such as playing hockey, biking, swimming, playing board games, doign math, etc.The Internet takes over a lot of our lives, but we can't forget the part that is not taken over. -

If you don't use Yahoo! Messenger, you probably should have a firewall anyways. The option just tells Yahoo! Messenger that you have a firewall installed. -
It would help if you told us what anti-virus software you are using. <_<If your system does scan properly in Normal mode, try the following steps:1. Safe mode, scan and remove all viruses.2. Spyware scans in Normal mode. Remove detected spyware.3. Make sure you have 3-6 anti-spyware applications on your computer.4. If none of that helped, go to Start > Run > "msconfig".5. Click the Startup tab and disable all startup programs.6. Reboot into Normal mode.7. Run scans again.8. If everything works fine, enable startup programs that you need in the System Configuration Utility. If things don't work correctly, try uninstalling very non-essential programs.9. If all else fails, do a QuickRestore on a HP computer or a Dell Restore on a Dell computer. Reinstall your operating system.Hope that helped.

I use AceHTML Freeware to write my pages and scripts. Notepad is okay but AceHTML has more functionality for designing websites. Don't have Photoshop, I use The GIMP sometimes for images. Paint usually for GIFs and TIFFs. I don't use Tidy a lot, I use the HTML Validation Results from an extension in Firefox to see any arrors. I also vaildate my pages through http://validator.w3.org/. For testing my pages I use Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox 1.5, Opera 9, Avant Browser 10, Maxthon, SeaMonkey BETA and also Netscape 8. Hope this helps.

Google Talk Updated With Voice Mail, File Sharing! New Features added
FirefoxRocks replied to delivi's topic in The Internet
Well, if Google Talk has file sharing capabilities by now, I still stick to Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger. <_<I don't know friends who use Google Talk. All my friends use Windows Live/MSN Messenger. Yahoo! Messenger has compatibility with WLM/Y! Messenger. Windows Live Messenger has that kind of compatibility too.If only the world would use 1 or 2 kinds of each type of software...
