  1. Hmm...I signed up for this a few months ago, haven't received a single email yet. It is not active any longer I think. It doesn't send emails out. This is not an effective way to make money. If you want to get free items, just use a FreePay service (iPods, XBox 360, digital cameras, LCD Monitors, etc, etc). It will need referrals but at least you do get the item. Please remember, when signing up, ALWAYS use a disposable email address (GMail, Windows Live Mail/Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc).
  2. I used to want to learn HTML but her site didn't help at all. It was really weird how she explains things. Instead, if you are willing to use some Thinking and Inquiry skills, go to http://www.w3schools.com/ instead.
  3. I've just used eBuddy today for MSN and Yahoo! purposes, maybe you can get some code there.
  4. My antivirus software is Shaw Secure provided by F-Secure. I do recommend AVG Anti-Virus though.I have used Norton AntiVirus before and it has worked great. If you want, you can try Norton AntiVirus for 30 days.I really do recommend AVG AntiVirus.
  5. I prefer using BitTorrent for torrent files. LimeWire is good for music. Applications off the Gnutella network are flooded with spyware, viruses and mainly trojan horses. Shareaza doesn't work for me, it can find 300 sources for downloading but there are no open connections. Even when the firewall is disabled. BearShare is loaded with adware and eDonkey is no longer running. So I guess torrents are the preferred file shraing system. Make sure you download legally of the P2P networks!
  6. I have 2 GMail accounts and Thunderbird is working them properly. In Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 (correct version?), verify these settings: ------------------------------------------- Account name: {Whatever you want} Your Name: {Your name} Email address: {your GMail address} SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com Server name: pop.gmail.com Username: {GMail address} Port: 995 SSL Connection is ON Check for new messages at startup and every 10 minutes Automatically download new messages. Compose messages in HTML format. In the Outgoing Server settings: Description: Google Mail Server name; smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Use name and password {and ensure that you have the correct credentials in there}
  7. I use a combination of several browsers, all for different purposes.Internet Explorer for Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Safety Scan, Microsoft Update and sometimes for normal browsing.Firefox is for playing Neopets (with the toolbar), some RPGs and many features from the extensions. I use Firefox for normal surfing 45% of the time.Opera is for IRC Chat, newsgroups and a few other widget functions too. I use Opera to surf 45% of the time.Avant Browser is for playing on MSN Games. I sometimes use it for security updates and playing games that crash in Firefox/Opera/Netscape and that I don't want to load up IE.SeaMonkey is used for testing and learning about programming :PNetscape is only used for testing out how my webpages look in the browser.Maxthon is used for normal browsing (1%) and it is used when IE crashes repeatedly (Send Error Report [or not...]).As you can see, I have different browsers for different functions. The 9% of normal browsing that I didn't mention, well, I spread it between all the browsers. :POpera and Firefox are both my favourite ones as of now.
  8. I am not allowed to install or maintain a web server under my contract with my ISP. I emailed them and asked. They responded: If you are on a residential package, you cannot run a web server. If you need to run a web server, we can upgrade you to a business package.Any unusual activity (traffic) on port 80 and my connection is terminated! My ISP is Shaw Cablesystems.I prefer to use Xisto for my hosting needs, I feel comfortable using the forum.

    CSS Editor

I have never heard of a WYSIWYG CSS Editor. However, there is an easy way to visually see CSS and how it looks. 1. Open up your (X)HTML editor. If you don't have one, I recommend AceHTML FreeWare 9. 2. Create whatever you need to format. Example: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml/ CSS Test Page</title><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="mycssfile.css" /></head><body><h1>Heading 1</h1><h2>Heading 2</h2><p class="intro">Intro paragraph</p><div id="header">Header box</div></body></html>3. Make your CSS Stylesheet. Example: body {border:1px dotted #0F0;margin:0px;padding:1cm}h1 {text-align:center;border-width:1px 0px 1px 0px;border-color:rgb(255,0,255);border-style:solid}h2 {background-color:#00F;color:white}p.intro {font-weight:bold;font-style:italic;border:1px solid #F00;background-color:#FFD1D1}div#header {font-size:14pt;position:relative;top:-10px;z-index:100}/* End of Top Section */4. Save all files and open up the HTML page in your web browser (actually, test it in most browsers ) 5. See what needs adjustment and what should be done next. This is the easiest way of doing CSS without a special editor. It works for me, it might work for you!
  10. I think you need a wireless network extender. Two routers will work but I think it's a bit hard If you a large yard or simply a large home, or that you want to share your network with yoru neighbours, simply purchase a wireless network extender. It is device that you can move around to intensify and strengthen the signals of your wireless network. Make sure you set up the network properly if you have 2 routers. To learn more about Wireless Networking and other technology, go to https://www.thesource.ca/ and Click&Learn!
  11. You may want to check your links, pages and domain. When I clicked on the link, it said This domain is parked by GoDaddy.com. And your pages link to a 404 error Page Not Found area.Just wondering, what is the site about?
  12. Okay, I have went to https://support.xisto.com/ I have terminated hosting. Why does it still say [hosted] in the forum? And my credits are still going?
  13. I always use the RunAs command. It DOESN'T work on the Internet/E-mail programs on the start menu (although you can do it on those programs, just not there). Microsoft Office programs can't do that (you can do it in Program Files). This is a good security tip.
  14. Okay, so will my credits be purged if I terminate hosting?I think I'll take the reapplying option, it is much easier.
  15. HiI need an option that will suspend your hosting account, like when you have negative credits. But I have 25 credits and I don't want to waste them.So I need:1. Hosting suspension.2. Credits suspension (credits won't be used per day because there is no hosting). The reason for this is because I need to develop my website more before uploading. So can I do this?(note: It should be allowable to earn credits.)
  16. Anyways, I just had a brain flash! :)If you said it will boot into safe mode properly, then it may be that you have too much stuff executing/launching/running when your computer is starting up.Boot into Safe Mode, go to Start > Run > "msconfig". Click Backup Files and then OK.Now go to Diagnostic Startup and uncheck/untick everything except Config.sys and Autoexec.bat. Click Apply or OK and then restart the system.Does it work now?If it doesn't work, repeat the procedure except select Normal Startup. Now restart the system again. After it boots up, click Start > Shut Down > Restart. Hold the CTRL key after the POST (Power On Self Test). F5 brings you into safe mode, F6 brings you into Safe Mode with Networking. That means Internet access open.I'll need to dig up some more info on that issue before posting more information. Only thing found was F6 is "Safe Mode with Networking".
  17. 512 k? Quoted from Windows 98 System Requirements . Anyways, of course your computer can't run Windows 98 with sufficient memory! MINIMUM is 16 MB. That is 32X more that what you have now. Or did you mean 512MB? I don't think so because 512 MB would be sufficient to run multiple programs. I have 64 MB RAM on my Windows 98SE computer and it works fine Give the amount of hard disk space also. Then we can help determine Virtual Memory. But it is not a good idea to run Windows 98 under this little amount of memory. I hope you have either Windows 95 or that you can revert to Windows 3.1/Windows 95. If not, you'll be stuck with DOS for the rest of the computer's life (assuming you don't get a new computer).
  18. I like the iPod nano. iPod shuffle doesn't have a screen, I don't like it at all! :)I like the blue colour of the iPod nano. The other colours are great. My mom has an iPod nano, she got it a month ago. I still don't have one!Upgrading it all the time. That's what technology is all about. Evolution.
  19. Download the Microsoft Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor RC. It features Vista's features on the scanning page. You can also see the features here, at Microsoft Vista's website. My PC can run Vista, however I have to get some driver updates and that WDDM driver, I can't find it anywhere!
  20. I have never dealt with Expedia.com. However, I think their deals are good.At least they look good on the web.
  21. I think that the Windows Internet Explorer 7 wil be released in November 2006.Please do not give illegal downloading links to BETA software.I recommend using Firefox or Opera. Maxthon, Netscape, Avant Browser, Mozilla and SeaMonkey are also good choices. They are better than Internet Explorer.Internet Explorer 6 has too many security holes.
  22. Microsoft Canadian Website has released prices (accidentally). I think they are now confirmed by Microsoft because the the spread of the information from blogs to major websites. Here are the Windows Vista prices: The last one? It was just a joke! It doesn't really exist, unless Microsoft decides to make it, which would be really stupid. These prices are in US Dollars. Personally, I think Vista is too expensive to buy the Operating System. I would just buy another hard drive/computer.
  23. I offer free webmaster service also (not on the Web, but for friends). I use scripts from HotScripts, images from various free sites and stuff from free sites (tested for spyware, viruses and other bugs). Anyways, try to use XHTML + CSS in your website! I hate invalid pages and I hate using HTML for formatting. You can learn XHTML and CSS from W3Schools and Web Development Lessons. Good luck to your service.
  24. Opera loads the content before CSS and JavaScript.Firefox loads the CSS and JavaScript first.Internet Explorer loads everything then displays the page. For the page to show up, it seems that Opera is the fastest however Opera and Firefox seem to be too close to make a difference out of.As for security, if you have common sense, appropriate security software and basic knowledge, I think that Avant Browser, Opera, Maxthon and Netscape are tied for first, Firefox, SeaMonkey and Mozilla leading 2nd and Internet Explorer 3rd.Compatibility, um....Firefox is the best. Opera doesn't support many addons (although it has Widgets) and other browsers don't support a lot.For websites, Internet Explorer and Firefox are tied for first. That's all I will compare tonight. Don't be mislead by my nickname
