ok i see something interestin which is that the script you are using is attempting to use an unknown protoco and it gives one suggestion. Its unlikley to be that but hey, who knows! so i reccomend checking you have the latest version of the installation you wish to use and upgrade it if you dont. if the problems persists i feel it could be something to do with the installation itself being faulty, possibly the code you are using to connect and interact with the database or possibly as saidm the security of your pc. I recomend also as said trying without the firewalls as they can be paranoid about loopback address (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ etc...) so try disabling them and trying again. can i ask if you have put "or die(mysql_error();" after any of your sql queries/commands? if not cvonsider putting it in as it might give more details of the error that you are having. put it just after you finish a query eg mysql_query($QUERY, $LINK) or die(mysql_error();); if you do have this then any chance of showiung us the line of code you belive is causing the problem? it could be a problem with the code if its none of the above.

Well ive been in the situation where ive liked a girl and she gets a boyfriend and ive never been jealous of them as a person, ive been jealous of their position as this girls partner but not them as a person cos in my opinion they sucked but maybe thats because i was jealous I think it shows that you really like that person to be honest, and its changed me alot because i notice myself that lately i take a lot less Bull... than before and i suppose ive got a bit of an angry attitude towards peope in general, like on the busses and trains i openly moan to my mates about how the people on the train are "reatarded and need lives" i find it funny anyway! so in all i suppose it makes you angry and proves you care and really do like that person and its not jus like a fling.

as buffaloHELP said you must kill your hosting account, not your FORUM account your actual website. do it as he said. Once you have done that make sure you get enough hosting credits for the package you want (either 10 or 30) then go back to step one of hosting, go and apply again and you will be aproved again provided you meet the critera and this time dont delete any folders!!! Atleast not untill you know what you are doing! because the likelihood is you will need all of those folders.

When you say you deleted the user what user did you delete? If you deleted the only user then you might have problems when trying to create a new user as you dont have a user you can log in with to create hte new user...i think...If you copied and pasted the code then you might need to change it slightly to fit your environment, such as the host, username, password, table name etc...sounds to me kinda like you deleted the only user, or have no users which have the right privileges to create a new user which could lead to a re-install i think (im not entirely sure how phpmyadmin works in relation to wether you need to be logged in as a user to create a new user. I think you do though)and as electron said make sure you switch on both php and sql services, im not sure how you do that with your installation but normally there is a central control program that lets you turn on and off the services installed or you have programs/batch files for php and sql, something like "start_php.bat" etc... make sure you run both sql and php.the code you are using would be very helpfull, only the parts where you include sql details and commands though.

it could be one of two things, either an error in the code you are using to connect to the database or a problem with the installation, what installation of php and swl are you using?I suggest xampp if you arent already using it as ive never had or heard of any problems with it and i find it very easy to use.If your distribution came with phpmyadmin then it should be easy enough to find and sort the problem providing it is something silly like a type or that a user's privillages arent right. IF you have already used phpmaydmin and couldnt find the problem then i would double check any code you are using to connect and use the database (this only applies if you have errors when running some kind of sql code using php) feel free to post the code in this thread if you are unsure about it, many people can quickly find any problems there might be. (PS i appologise if you have been using php and sql for years but i dont know how experienced you are!)using phpmyadmin you can just go into the users are and set the priveleges for all users, for testing purposes i would say to have the user you use in the scripts to have all privileges and once the script is complete take out any which you dont need, that will make it very easy to develop and have added security from preventing a hacker using that user to destroy your database! PS as you said it did work i think it most likely to be with some code you have written or maybe you accidentally changed a user or a table name or something small that could cause big problems. It depends when you get the message, when using php/sql code or when trying to use some kind of admin tool like phpmyadmin. Also any information like the actual error message could be helpful.Againh sorry if i sound patronising or anything but i have no idea if youve been doing this for years or minutes and want to try to cover both angles

People are just like that sometimes, people suck in general to be honest, i mean not everyone cos there are a lot of people here and obviously the people i talk to etc.. are great but you get people like the ones you mentioned who are just there to mess up everyone else day and annoy you. Im not one to care what people think of me so i just tend to ignore them and it sounds like you tried that too which is good. One of my mates said that if a person insults you it means they have thought about you enough to do so, and its true, so you should be glad that person just wasted their pea-sized brain thinking up some random insult that you ignored anyway Find some way of getting her [the hag] to break the chatroom rules whatever they may be and then get the operator to ban her if thats possible it would be funny to watch, and it would shut her up for good. Otherwise just talk to the person you was PM'ing and get their msn address or watever if u use a messenger.

Yeh i hated school, i have nightmares about it sometimes, plainly because i hated the teachers and the rules, im not a rebelious person or a trouble maker but i hate being told what to do, i enjoy the the freedom of college a lot more :)But as for making school fun i think as you said get friends!!! I love my friends and i dont know what i would do without them, i would go absolutely mad! They made break times bareable and lunch fun. Just make the most of lunch and break times theyre the best parts of the day in my opinion, short of going home that is! Also make the most of your lessons, i hated most of mine but managed to find someone to tlk to and have fun with, of course in the important classes like maths english ecience and anything you want to carry on with you have to listen carefully (bummer right ! )

well im not sure because music is more of an opinion than a fact, with a helath book they can see this IS going to harm you and doing this WILL make you feel better wherras with music they cant write this IS a good song, they can only say they think it is but the decision is up to you so it would be very hard to write about i think.They do magazines with interveiws from bands, eg in a rock mag there would be interveiws with rock bands and prizes, articles about concerts etc...

All i have is images and php files with a coupld of txt files. And bandwidth shouldnt be much of a problem unless you get thousands of visitors, in which case you would be better to set up some ads and get paid hosting for even better space, bw, uptime etc...

Woah, is that a site that shows what can be made with magnesium? its a biy cluttered so couldnt exactly understand but if it is then there are a hell of a lot of thing on the uses page that can be made with magneium, which is weird cos magnesium reacts badly with..well everything, it gets hot when it touches water and causes a reaction and i think it has been known to catch fire from water so im not sure how they could use it.... but if they do then its fairly kool.suppose they could use it an alloy or something.

I think it looks awesome, except for, as said, the text problem. And a full screen version would be fantastic, if it will take a lot of time though you should release V1 (if you havent already) as it is pretty much and as a little v1.1 or something add full screen mode. But it looks great

Well it depends why you need to learn it and what parts of the language you need to learn. I dont think its ever needed to learn ALL of any programming language, for example you might never need to know how to make images move or add movies to an application so it really depends on what your needs are. ALthough one thing is for sure you will need an IDE and compiler for VB. They basically turn what you type into machine code for the computer to run. You can download a free trial of microsoft VB 2003 i think from googling the web the only thing is i think it is a timed trial so it runs out after about 60 days maybe. Other than that you can try envelop. (again google the web.) its a totally free compiler, though can be confusing to install as there are 6 different installation packages to download and go through. And once installed it isnt VB.NET its just VB so there are slight differences in the way that it works compared to the MS VB compilers. To begin learning i think the best thing is to learn how to make a program just put text boxes and stuff in, then add buttons and other things to get more complicated and you will learn that way but thats just my preference. Humm it sounds likemore than just an ip conflict as that will normally just give the "limited or no connection" error. One thing you would try is using a hub/router to connect them LAPTOP--EHTERNET---HUB---ETHERNET---PC and see if that works. ONe more thing is to check the type of cable you are using, For two ethernet devices you should be using a "corss over" cable. You can tel by reading the black words on the side of the cable or by going to this website http://www.incentre.net/tech-support/other-support/ethernet-cable-color-coding-diagram/ And looking at the diagram of the cross-over cable and comparing it to the cable you are using. Basically if you take both ends of the cable and point them away from you it should not be symetrical in the colours of the wires inside. The website might make it easier to understand. It could be the wrong type of cable, it probably isnt but its best to check everything first. Otherwise i have no idea!

I started making a basic php-sql forum and it was complicated but the functions needed werent always very difficult. Most things i needed were just sql database commands to connect to the database and retreive posts etc...And you will need to know about sessions in php which isnt too hard but it does bring along a bit of security that you will need to know in order to make the forum safe. I actually got quite far in my way along considering ive taught myself php and sql and havent had a world of experience, i got the backbone down where i could post a new message and then call it up in a list of the last topics and then retreive the topic data and print it out to the screen, but unfortuantely i got my laptop stolen and hadnt got a backup so i lost it all, but i felt proud knowing i had the backbone down. It was nothing compared to phpbb and such but to know that if i kept on at it i could improve it to become good was nice.Dont give up because people say its hard, tis definately not easy but its not impossible, it might take a long time to do though before you have features like a mod/admin panel etc... but keep going, you can do it if you put your mind to it.

I think aslongside all the software protection you should have some kind of software on the master computer something like a timetable or spreadsheet which you use to show which computers are being used and at what time they should be off. That way even if the timing software is cracked you can tell that the person has been on too long and shut them down yourself. Also you should have some kind of remote control software installed on all machines which has the control at the master machine. Then if you notice someone doing something they should you can easilly take control of their pc and shut them down or stop them doing it etc.. Also post the rules on the walls in notices so that if you do need to shut someone down for impropper use you can do so and point out that the rules were clearly shown. As for anti-virus i would use two to make sure you have all angles covered and also have a firewall at the gateway (the connection to the internet such as the access point or gateway computer, router etc...) and another on each computer on the network. I would also disable the vbscript engine if using windows xp pro as it is not needed by normal users but can be a security problem. Although if the lan you are working on has over 50 or so computers vbscript engine could be usefull but i would still disable it as it can help users to run malicious code and also websites and hackers to run code on one machine that will spread to the rest. Im very interested in computer and network security so this topic should proove a good read i hope

Hey another great peie of software for learning php is php designer by mpsoftware link: http://www.mpsoftware.dk/ Thats its description on the site. I find the syntax highlighting is VERY usefull as i always know which bracket goes with which statement and it also automatically corrects " to "" so that when you type commands you can pretty much never miss out something so small. Also when typing a function such as include() it will pop up a little box much like the alt box of an image online telling you all the parts of the function eg "include(filepath)" which i find very usefull when using functions im not bery familiar with. And as said xampp is all you really need for sql and php and it fully integrates with php designer so you can debug your scripts without leaving the program

i did karate for a very short time and ive been involved in a mugging and i know that the karate couldnt have helped me, maybe because i didnt go for long and quitted but in my opinion a martial art such as karate is only goodif the person youre fighting is also using a martial art. Because many of the clocks we learned in karate involved the attacker t be using a certain kind of kick only a martial artist would use because in a street fight you dont stand in an attacking pose and perform aroundhouse kick to the kidneys you just go mental kicking at anything you can aiming for the shins and crotch and such like and with that speed and mentality a karate block is just no good, you would block one kick and the next would hit your arm taking your balance and the rest could hit your fast or anything as you fall. Ive never been to a street defence class but i would like to. I know that martial arts, as already said give you dicipline and control but in a street fight its not control you need, its speed. You just need to hit hit hit, not defend. thenn run like hell. I suppose a street defence class would show the weak parts or an attacker and how to avoid comon attacks like a kinfe, bottle or bat etc... Karate and martial arts just tendto focus on much more co-ordinated martial art style attacks which is something you dont see on the streets. It does build up confidence though whch is good

Thanx, they offered a philosphy course at college, maybe i shouldve taken it! This could work the other way around, we see them as diagnosing but in actual fact they might be tryin to kill the person. does that make sense? basically anything that we think is a hallucination they are having could infact be a hullicination we are having and they are seeing the truth. Mhmm, ive thought that too! How do we know we arent actually schizophrenics who when we sleep we have more "real" dreams and when we wake "reality" seems like a dream. So when we really are dreaming we think we're awake and when we really are awake we are actually dreaming? (if that makes sense!) That would mean that when we "dream" (IE when we are actually awake but think we are dreaming) the people we see who seem weird would be people in the waking world and everythng that happens would be interpreted by our schizophrenic brain and twisted so it seems like a dream! Its a very good point! You made me think in detail now, which is never good!

Yeh i agree the only conspircay about 9/11 is that the US government knew about it and couldnt care less (IMHO that is, its given them a reason to do alot of things they otherwise wouldnt have support for)But ill leave my thoughts out of this topic as it is abit off-topic and will be a rant more than a discussion :)There was another "conspiracy" with microsoft word webdings or wingdings (cant remember which) where the numbers 9 1 1 would come out as a plane and two towers...now i ask, what REAL WORLD shape or object would you use for a number one....yes, a tower, its obvious isnt it! That explains the ones, the 9 im not sure why its a plane but it is, no-one put it there on purpose, maybe the number 9 does have some relevance to a plane in some way, i dont know. But this along with the one you posted and the one about folding a 20 dollar bill are all just weird coincidences. Like said, when you are looking for a patern you see one, and this is whats happening here. atleast you took the time to really find the facts about the coincidences such as it not being a real flight number. Some people just accept it as the truth!

Hi all As part of psychology we study mental "illnesess" (quotes because who says they are illnesses not just differences?) and one we study is schizophrenia, im sure many of you know roughy what it entails such as hearing voices, hallucinations, disorganized speach and being generally detatched from the world as if in a dream world. Well basically i think that schizophrenia shows us that reality is actually just an illusion created in the mind. If these people see things then that is their reality and it is real to them. one psychologist describes schizophrenia as "a sane way to deal with an insane world" which i think is partly true. For one how do we know that people who think aliens are trying to abduct them arent right? it could be that aliens really are trying to abduct them and we dont belive them, or maybe we are the insane ones and they are sane? We could be in denial of the fact that aliens are abducting pepople. You can see that everyone has their own reality and there is no such thing as REALITY as reality is defined on the net as: Well who deciedes what the world really is? is it some old white-heaired guy in a lab saying "ahh this is real, this is not..." or is society as a whole? Or is it the individual? In my opinion it is the individual, I decide wether life is good or not, wether someone is a good person, and technically my mind has created the world around me. I belive it was the matrix film that suggested "reality is just electrical impulses interpreted by the brain" this is too true. If my brain decides the weather is sunny, then the weather is sunny as far as im concerned! And that is the reality to me. Anyone have any ideas on this? All in all, there is no reality which suggests we are all living in an illusion created by out minds and brains. Humm my tutor would be proud of that methinks Lets hope someone else has veiws on this subject!

Hey even if you dont have any friends in the real world you have all the people here, were all friendly!Im not sure where i want to go with my life just yet either, i know i want to go into an ICT job and university after college, i suppose its a start! I taught myself php and sql from the internet and if you want advice on learning i think the best thing is just do things. Like start by making a simple page using one function, like to print out words (echo) then just build on it by adding variables, then an if statement, then include a database where you use php and sql to take a senteence from the database then display it etcetera etcetera....that way you get real life experiene of using it And of course read the books and online resources, they really do help!!!As for the boyfriend if your lov eisnt enough then he needs to sort himself out. The whole point of a relationship is love, if he doesnt think that he needs to re-evaluate himself and realise that a girlfriends love is best gift in the world :PAnd if youre happy as a waitress living in your own home then youve accomplished your dream, your dream is to be happy and if you are happy then congratulations! youve got your fream come truse which is something many people never see happening (sad but true!) Im a person that always likes to better myself and others so I would just keep going till i die, get bored or reach the top lol But all in all my dream is just to be happy too, earn a modest amount of money for living with and a bit to spend and own my own home and live with someone i love You do have a dream but its not a dream any more its reality.
