  1. No worries, i think what youre thinking of is a bit like the script i use on my website like a modules page eg site.com/modules.php?page=something And it will look similar to the way if you used the script i wrote for AD except instead of creating static HTML pages saved to a folder it will create dynamic pages. Id be interested to see how your one works, if you make it, compared to my version of the dynamic page idea.

    Hello!

Hi-dilli-ho neighbourino!! (ned flanders voice!) im from the UK to welcome to Xisto! as well as the rules link posted by husker check out the readme found just above the shoutbox near the top. And aside from that enjoy your time here, im sure you will!
  3. hi there and welcome! I think youll like it here, i do! I got my free hosting too and its definately worth the few hours a week of time i spend here! You might want to read the readme: http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?actE=01&HID=18 That lays down the basics. One thing ill point out is you get credits by posting quality long decent posts not lots of posts. So many people make 5 or 6 pointless posts like Thinking they will get hosted and they wont! Nice intro by the way, it seems like you will make decent posts here rather than stupid ones See ya round!
  4. He/she cant share the sites here because the links you will get will be referrals and he/she would get banned and the links deleted, by emailing them youll get a whole list of referral links to get him/her extra cash. Maybe im just evil but i would get the list in the emails and then delete the referral part, usually everything after the.com/.net/.co.uk etc..., and then do it all for myself, but then again i am sometimes harsh but at the end f the day you're better off getting a job than spending time helping scummy companies like the free ipod sites.Exactly how much have you made so far and how many hours/days/years has it taken you?
  5. I cant swap the PSU as its one with a transformer etc...as part of the cable and the only other leads i have are standard leads or my laptop leads which are no good unfortunately. And i cant swap the motherboard as the only other motherboard i have is my laptop. Its a good idea to take parts out to see whats wrong but i dont have the patience and id probably screw it up, i can easily take then out and put them in but im sure id manage to mess it up somehow. I think its most likely the PSU or the motherboard, hopefully not the motherboard as thats basically a whole computer. And i havent made any changes at all the system before it started to have its tantrums. Stupid machines!
  6. Well...its a mouse, an expensive mouse. The data channel thing..what the? there's no point for advertising it as a super fast data channel! im sure that all mice leads are capable of carrying the electrical signals from a mouse, its not like a mouse transmits a million gigs of data per second!! sixty dollars for a muse with a blue light is a rip off to be honest. And ive seen more ergonomic mice in my days. I use a bog standard optical mouse with super bendy stylish black lead and state f the art red sensor combined with a black/silver paint finish and a smooth roller ball combined with a USB connection optimised for on the go performance... translates to: I have an optical USB mouseAt the end of the day its just a mouse and in my opinion its not worth that much money. But on the plus side the buttons on the side are useful and the blue light would look good if you regularly played games in the dark. By the way if you're trying to get credits by posting lots of little posts it wont work. You need to make long, decent posts not lots of short ones. Write a review of this mouse and tell me and everyone else if and why you think its good and such.
  7. Technicalities! thanks for pointing that out, i have a habit of missing closing tags in HTML, ill sort that out tomorrow because im too lazy tonight and procrastination is my life rule! Thanks for the feedback
  8. lol yeh but if they keep saying it maybe they will be right one day, then they'll say "told you so" if the devil was so great he would pop out the floor and strike me down for constantly insulting him!
  9. its not christian, its pagan and adopted by early christians to convert pagans and the like, along with the demonization of pentacles, a horned god etc.... so along those lines we can spell it how we like. I hardly ever say christmas, i dont believe in christ or any of the bible of christian things, why do i celebrate christmas? because its no longer a religious holiday its more of an economic holiday meaning its extorted for monetary things, along with easter. If you ask me xmas is meant to "cross out christ", anyway the Romans done that...(apologies if that offended anyone but i thought it was funny) its just for lazy people and as posted above X can also be used as in "Xian" its just easier. And as also said Santa clause wasn't in the "real" meaning of xmas (Yes im saying "xmas" because im lazy and if i go to hell for that then i shall go quietly, its gotta be more fun there anyhoo) he was invented, well at least modified, by coca-cola as a selling point, originally it was Saint Nick i believe who gave things to children or something... so the xmas we celebrate today is so far away from the christian celebrations its crazy, im sure some christians do celebrate it as a religious holiday like my granny and grandad, they just pray and have a kinda christian get together with their church pals. And the political correctness thing is stupid...i mean teachers aren't supposed to say "brainstorm" as its "offensive" to epileptics who suffer "brain storms" AKA fits. Political correctness means nothing and it seems "xmas" is a product of paranoia, if you celebrate it and someone says "merry xmas" say thanks and walk off, its a kind gesture. If you want to believe X is to cross out "christ" then do but i personally dont think it is, its for lazy people like me
  10. indeed, months and time itself is a made up thing, obviously you can say that i typed this reply *before* you read it but the scales of time eg months, days, hours etc..are made up so the 6/6/6 date means nothing, it just means its 6 years, 6 months and 6 days since a random decided to start keeping track of time. I also don't believe in the devil but even if i did it would hold no fear as i belive were all stronger than the devil...and essentially evil is a creation of humans to help contrast and "good" people....just my opinion!
  11. dude don't spam the forums with links, if you must post these links at least tell us what they are about and try not to just post links to zips or other downloads, post links to the authors website. what is this rapidkill? I do some php coding so I might download it but i have no idea what it is so tell us. And if you want credits these post will get you about....zero
  12. Thats basically the same as what the tutorial says except i capitalized the second P for clarity! I would have added the navigation by now except my coding machine died and the keyboard on this is rubbish so i cant add it! but ill try to when i can
  13. As said not much of xmas is actually christianwithout starting a debate i belive that the xmas tree, as partially suggested by the wiki, came from paganism, let me explain - firstly paganism has close links with nature and trees, also yule, which is the pagan "equivalent" of xmas on the 21st is a celebration of (mythically not technically or literally!) the triumph of light over dark (as the days get longer) and it involves oak trees and, i think, the holy tree so the presence of a tree in a pagan dwelling would be very apt. And the lights on it could be in relevance to the days getting longer and welcoming the light back. (This is mostly speculation on my part).Paganism is also where the christmas log comes from, though it wasnt chocolate! Of course the tree idea could cme from so many places i dont think anyone can definitvely say where it came from!
  14. I tried opening the case of it earlier but i couldnt!! Its crazy, i cant find hardly any screws only screw holes suggesting they have been taken out, probably by me infact. But i couldnt slide the case or pull it open atall. As it was custom built we will phone the guy who made it and see what he can do if anything, It will be annoying if the motherboard is gone, if its the BIOS i think that could be replaced and if its the power supply, which thinking about it is the most logical reason, then that can be replaced too. Im fairly sure the HDD and other components are fine which is usefull because it means my data isnt destroyed, only unreachable! Thanks for the suggestions, lets hope the guy can srt things out, and a UPS sunds good, ive just never used one because i rarely get powercuts but i guess a badly timed powercut could cause the software a lot of damage which wouldnt be good
  15. The lack of loudness is probably because the speaker isnt very powerfull in which case there is nothing you can do but maybe you can find an amplifier which will fit into the headphone/sound out port and amplify the sound and send it on to more speakers, most speaker systems have amps in them anyway so if you bought a set of speakers, especially those with an external power source, you should get much louder and better quality sound. That would be the only way i know of increasing the volume
  16. My power supply is external because the machine is a compact one and theres a little light on the transformer box thing and that lights up as normal, i havent made any BIOS changes so i dont think that is the issue, i was thinking of opening it up and having a look see if the problem is just a dodgy button and ill give it a blow to take out the loose dust and such, see if it helps.thanks
  17. Hi allI know there was a post similar to this posted already but my problem is slightly different.Basically i have a custom built PC which has wrked fine for atleast a year, maybe two, the other day it didnt turn on but i saw a little orange LED inside which meant there was power to it so i inplugged it and plugged it back in at the mains and it booted up fine. I got home today and tried turning it on, same thing happened, nothing. Except the little orange LED which is always on when the computer has power. so i tried the same old trick of unplugging it but this time nothing again. i tried it a few more times and still nothing.I can think of one thing that the BIOS might be fried but i cant think or a logical explaination as to why. The OS installed is windows xp home, or possibly pro, i dont know of any malware on it as i scanned it fully less than a week ago. Any ideas? i dont want to have to pay out for a new motherboard and its really annoying because its my PHP machine and this one im on now is a little screwed because i spilt drink on the keyboard and its never forgiven me!Thanks
  18. I think the navigation table is a god idea, i just didnt want the large amounts of text to be squished but i think i know how i can add the navigation in and keep it fitting with the template like system, ill get to that tomorrow Thanks
  19. thanks, shall get to voting then Good luck everyone!
  20. Do we get to vote for ourselves? *cheeky grin*And with the "one vote" thing, does that mean one in each category or only one vote for one person in one category?
  21. i think its a good idea! I notice im the only member who has pinned themselves in the UK!Come on people! I dont want to be all alone!
  22. What file was missing? where did you download it from? What format was it? (exe, zip etc...) you say you played it before and " the CDs are the same but so far no success." Do you mean you have the CD's in which case why did you download it?We need more info, it could be it was a bad website or just an unlucky download in which something got corrupted. (and by the way, be careful about posting lots of new topics in one day especially if they are short like this and contain copied content from other websites, check out the rules and Xisto readme)
  23. Hi there! As everyone already said, yes of course you can!Have you ever used frontpage? if you have it installed on your computer it is a little like word except it makes web pages for you, you simply drag and drop images and type text add colours etc...and it will write the HTML code for you, its not the best tool around but it will be fine to use until you want to branch out into more complex things. If you don't have it then no worries i think you can use word, as you said. If you use word to make the page how you want it to look and then "Save As" a web page you should be able to simply upload it (if you have trouble uploading then just ask anyone here and they will help) and it should work And if something doesn't work then just post a message in the HTML forums or somewhere, no question is stupid, you should've seen some of the questions i was asking at some points! I wasn't a website whiz when i arrived, i knew HTML but since I've been here I've learned a lot of PHP coding and i think Ive become better at website layout etc... so you will fit in fine here and probably learn a lot
  24. There we go, fixed all the typos i could find, and there were quite a lot! Also added in some info about double equals signs etc..thanks to jlhaslip for that I was trying to make it as simple as i could yet still explain everything fully and as i know PHP it was hard to know if it was simple enough or not! Thanks
  25. I ran the text through a spell checker and i proof read it though i must admit i did it briefly, ill go through it again tomorrow after ive slept And i will probably write further tutorials and one of them will probably include the use of SQL and queries etc... all depends on what time i have though, damn exams! Thanks for the feedback Ill sort the typos tmorrow
