*sigh* Im not going to lie TF your arguments sound mighty similar to those on all four pages of this debate.. Here goes... Firstly let me quote rvalkass: THANK YOU!!! A particle can decay, but like rvalkass said it cant stop existing, it merely changes form into a "packet" of energy. Now the energy can also transform into matter (im sure rvalkass can confirm or deny this). In my mind i cannot imagine something that does not have a beginning, now is this a limit of the human mind or this a limit of the laws of physics in that EVERYTHING must begin at some point? We will never know. However one can practically assume that everything has a beginning... Now, if god suddenly popped into existence he has no-where to exist... The universe isnt there yet. imagine time before the universe. See it in your mind. What do you see? Infinite blackness? well that''s incorrect, there can be no black, there can be no "infinite" NOTHING exists. No area, no space, no universe no vacuum no darkness NOTHING. Based on this where does god exist? Or are you going to suggest that at the instant god popped into existence the universe too popped into existence so that he could exist inside something? Of course, this is all irrelevant because you (tf) will tell me that god doesnt need a beginning and that instead my incapability to comprehend this fact is a limit of the human mind. Which of course is entirely feasible. But think about it. Right, TF: You say that i can provide no proof of my argument that christianity was spread for the purpose of control power and wealth... Allow me to demonstrate the opposite: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Now, personally i cant afford to have that sort of palace built in my back garden, in fact, i dont even have a back garden (aka yard) and even if i did have the money i highly doubt i could convince the UK government of my need to build an extremely large principality on their land... However, with 2 billion brain washed servants at my hand and probably BILLIONS of dollars (how much does the average western christian give to the church i wonder? In a year? hundreds of dollars?) that would probably allow me to build that sort of thing. So there is your proof. Proof that chrstianity has funded one of the most impressive buildings standing today, it funded the existence of an entire country of its own... Jeez... Is that not enough for you?! (i expect not) Now, i cant prove that this is the sole reason for christians wanting to spread their ideas... However, you cant prove the opposite. I guess it's a stalemate here but i know which side im on Perhaps im not being clear enough in my points... the birth of jesus was said to have taken place on the 25th of december, according to the bible and entire christian belief system. Modern science has discredited this date somewhat through the description of various animals and conditions at the time of jesus' birth. I cant provide sources. Wikipedia perhaps can. Now, given the fact that pagans had already celebrated the 21st long, long, long before the story of the bible was ever thought of i find it highly convenient that jesus was born so close to this date. Coincidences do happen but when you consider that the 21st is held by many pagan paths as the (re)birth of their male god(s) and in some traditions i believe from a virgin goddess (some traditions hold that the god and goddess are both lovers and mother/son, however not in an incest type way, but in that they swap "positions" through the year. Remember these entities are largely held as being metaphorical) it's a spooky coincidence.... Easter is the same. A damn big coincidence.... Or something more sinister. For example the celtic cross which is widely used as a christian symbol is in fact a combination of pagan and christian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_cross This is slightly off topic however it does have a point... Again, in a religion which has often plagiarised the ideas of others, lied repeatedly and is probably the richest organisation in the world. How can i trust their amazing story? And yes, i want an answer to this one. Preferably an answer where you dont simply state that my information is inaccurate. While my sources are lost to the ravages of the inefficiency of human memory i can tell you that they are largely from various programmes on the discovery TV network which, while not perfectly accurate is fairly reliable. So if you please? I am starting to think you avoid questions because you do not like the answers that you first find within yourself.

Still no clarification of your own beliefs i see TF, you're doing well so far, but you will crack eventually... You missed my point. You asked what Christianity had to gain from promoting itself. I think i proved my point quits extensively... Again, you missed my point. You suggested that in the god vs big bang debate that god MUST be the creator because the big bang cant create itself. Fair enough... But if i ask you what created god you would reply "god doesnt have a creator, he just existed forever" Ok... But then why couldnt the energy within the big bang have existed forever? You cant say that god has always existed and then discount the same of the big bang without any theory. To accept that a sentient god could "just exist" with no moment of creation then you MUST accept that the big bang could do the same. To clarify what i understand the big bang to be.... Science tells us the big bang before it exploded was smaller than a single atom. This doesnt resonate with me, the matter in the universe cant be smaller than an atom. What can? Energy.. It doesnt have to be godly or magickal energy, no. It can be "scientific" energy. energy without form. We know that energy can turn into matter, this happens in the universe i think with spontaneous emergency of particles in space. So in theory a great amount of energy contained in a tiny "space" (remember, space didnt exist before the universe. It cant.) could in theory transform spontaneously into matter. This matter could then force the universe into existence. This is slightly off topic but i want to state that i dont believe any sentient being, nor sentient energy created the universe through design. And to ask you this question: If god can "just exist" forever, why cant the energy that started the big bang follow the same rule? And if we go by occams (sp?) razor then which would you think is correct? I know occams(sp?) razor isnt always right but meh... Science says energy *is* eternal... For example... The sun produces energy from fusing atoms together, according to my theory of the big bang these atoms were made by energy forming into matter, according to the opposite of e=mc2, thus energy is turned into matter, this matter is then fused in the sun and the excess matter (where something like 1+1(matter)=1.5(matter)+5(energy)) is turned straight back into energy. This energy lets plants grow, which then die, and get fossilized then turn into coal. We burn this coal releasing heat, which turns water into steam which has both heat and kinetic energy through movement. This movement drives a turbine which turns the movement energy into electrical energy. This travels down the power lines into your house and is turned into heat and light energy by your light bulbs. This energy is then released into space and the environment where it has an extremely marginal effect (think a drop of water in the ocean, it's still there but you cant notice it) the energy is still there, it still exists. The reason something gets cold is not due to the energy getting destroyed or fading out. It is due to dilution. Put sugar on your finger and lick it. Strong... Now, put your finger in a bath of water and stir. Taste, and it tastes of water. No sugar. Same thing applies to getting a hot pea and dropping it in a bath of water. The heat energy is still there but it is so diffuse you cannot sense it. Christs birth is definitely mentioned as is his rebirth. In fairness the rest of the bible is just padding for these two events. [3] I know my generalisation was awful, i should have added a disclaimer. But i didnt so i deserve that bashing! Fair point, however, Christians will happily tell me that theirs in the only true religion and to believe anything else will condemn my soul. My points merely prove them completely wrong. In a religion with so much falsity how is one supposed to trust anything that is said? I think you have yet to answer that question.

Ok im back and im going to carry on with TFs post... Christmas, Easter and the creationism story that i reference IS Christian in origin. it IS in the bible the church DOES teach it. I accept many of the celebrations around christmas and easter are not christian. however, the holidays themselves are portrayed as Christian when they are not. Well apart from the biggest guilt trip in history "If you dont believe in god, and go to church you WILL go to hell" I can see nothing else christianity has ever done wrong... Apart from the almost systematic abuse of children by Catholics, the subjugation of women and their rights, damage that has been done by branding all other religions evil, and the followers of those religions as devil worshippers has caused through their reputation and subsequent abuse. I actually feel comfortable saying that Christianity is an evil religion. I truly do. It has done nothing good for this world, and if i were the christian god personally i would send many of the people that claim to represent me to the fires of hell. Many of those representatives are truly evil people. Christians are largely brain washed fools. They cant have this person around them for whatever reason, so they have to get rid of them. They are also fools in that they feel they mast save everyone... damn... so they have to save them form the flames of hell, obviously, but they cant have them around so they try to save them then kill them. Either that or they think they are doing the person a favour by saving their soul and then sending them up to god before they do bad again. Welcome back to pagnism my friend. 7 astral planes, I've been through this already. Plus the skies arent heaven in the sense that many used to believe. The skies are the skies. Clouds rain etc... however, i cant disprove that heaven is a non-physical realm that occupies the same space as our sky. No-one can prove or disprove that. I haven't once said that paganism is the only true religion, nor that it is true in any sense. I have actually said many times that paganism is what i personally believe and that it may not be true, and may not be for you.

Ok i mentioned tghe chicken and egg, and the only possible explanation is the egg came first. There was an animal that was 99% chicken, due to a genetic mutation is produced an egg that was 100% chicken. That's how it works. Now, TF im sorry but im going to tear your protective barrier of falseness from around you. I apologise. The pope has his own country, lives a gold plated palace that is probably bigger than that of any monarchy on this planet. He has his own army of soldiers and gold. More fame than you can shake a stick at and BILLIONS of people all over the world will do anything he says. If he told everyone that they need to repent by killing themselves there would be well over a billion dead people on the streets. POWER and MONEY my friend. Stronger forces than any god ever conceived and the pope is no exception. Perhaps he does it for good reasons, to guide people to better lives but it is still probably the most powerful seat in the world. As for the infinite loop of god vs big bang, you say that the big bang needed to be created. It couldnt create itself, which is half true. But then you say that god has always existed.... Well... who or what made god? The problem is, if you can believe that an infinitely powerful god just existed forever, with no creator then you must also believe that a small pocket of infinite energy could also have just existed without being created. you cant believe one is possible without the other. In fact a ball of pure energy (which the big bang was, it wasnt matter at all e=mc2 reversed.) is easier to understand than an all powerful sentient being. I must go now as im going out and my lift is here. But id like to see your reaction to those arguments. Have fun kids!

In fairness you can read any story, not take it literally and it then becomes "true" Spider man comics... If we dont take it literally and instead take the following from it:A man is bitten by a spider and thinks it is really cool so he becomes a free runner and does amazing tricks and stuff and pretends to be a superhero to scare criminals.Thats entirely possible. but it's not the story of superman.

you are a very hard person to figure out sometimes :PNo matter what you believe you need to question it, every day. If you cant find an answer then drop it. Its not for you.

Mahesh has a good point: No matter how many times you tell someone their beleifs are wrong the majority of them will ignore you. I try to be open, if someone tells me that there can be no magickal energy in the universe i will pose questions of why not etc... and listen to their arguments. But some people will close up. I try to take things on a "what if" basis, so if you tell me god made the universe in 7 days i try to think "what if he did, how would that work, what about the dinosaurs, what about the difference in time between the dinosaurs and the humans etc..." Also what anwii said is interesting. The debate between big bang and god being the creator of the universe. Its a chicken and egg situation because something needed to create god, yet it seems unfeasible that the big bang created itself, so therefore perhaps it was created by god, but then with no universe where was god before the big bang? He cant have been outside of the big bang because the outside didnt exist. But he cant've been inside the big bang because how could he cause it if he hadnt been created by it yet? That being said if science proves the big bang in the future it still doenst disprove god. God could well have been created by the big bang. This is my own belief with my "universal energy" (which im going to refer to as magick or magickal energy) theory. The big bang is IMHO the only theory that can explain the originas of the universe. The universe is expanding, FACT. Think of a grenade, it goes BOOM! and fragments fly off everywhere. Now, if i were to film it and then cover the area where the grenade is with a piece of cardboard you could watch the video, draw lines back from each fragment and work out EXACTLY where the grenade was. That's how we know the big bang happened. But the big bang created so much stuff, i think over 90% of which we cannot see, feel or even detect. So what is it? Could it be god? Or magickal energy? Yes. Put simply. I dont think its impossible for god to exist. Ive stated my belief but i am open to the existence of god. However, what i do not believe is: This god is the property of christians, or hindus, or muslims etc... i dont believe their stories of the properties of their respective god(s) God created everything. Sorry, i dont buy it. God will send me to hell if i dont believe in him. Sorry but damn what a bast**d! you dont think iom real eh? TO HELL WITH YOU! No "nice" god would do that.... Would you? No. There is a heaven and a hell. nope. Cant logically happen. What if i love my mum, but she killed someone and was a complete sinner? Yet i was a god loving christian. By rights i should go to heaven and she should go to hell. But my love for her is so strong that to be without her it would be like hell. So even though i go to heaven im not with her so i feel really sad and it is like hell to me. So what happened? I was good yet i still get punished? So then god would have to take my mum to heaven, but shes a sinner so he cant do that so he would have to send me to hell, but he cant do that because im good... Maybe he could clone her? But no... Because thats a sin too according to the church... So god is royally stuffed! Hence heaven/hell cannot exist. (plus heaven is subjective to every person). Instead i think there is a universal plane or universe we all go to when we die. Those who are spiritually "dead" like murders etc.. who sacrifice their soul and their love for a life or killing. These people are low frequency spirits and hence are stuck to the bottom plane of existence where the other low lifes are. The more spiritual you are the higher your frequency until you reach "heaven" a place of pure light and power. Here the universal truths exist and this is where a god would reside if one exists. (sounds similar to heaven/hell huh? The lower you are the more "evil" people are, and the top level is where the good people and god exist... Strange that.. another christian-pagan link.... And finally, i dont believe in creationism! The evidence tells me its false! All in all if the christian faith was one of honesty and rough truth of things that are likely to have happened and wasnt full of lies and spread through torture and murder then i would have an easier time of believing it. It's like a persistent liar telling you some amazing fact... Now if it was someone you trust you might accept it but it's not...

Kenny, In addition to the excellent advice above it sounds like you have residue either inside the keyboard connections making a short circuit between the button or the button has become stuck down. In this case remove the keyboard (see below)and my advice is to use a *damp* cloth to wipe away the residue. Now, when i say damp i mean damp. not wet. All you need to do is dissolve the sticky sugars in the orange juice to free up the keys. Really squeeze all of the water from the cloth as much as possible. Get it about as damp, if not drier, than a wet wipe (also known as a baby wipe in some places. I mean the wet tissue type thing you get from fast food restaurants to clean your hands) If possible you want to get in between the keys too using a damp cotton bud or something. Again, not wet, just damp.*Keyboard Removal*Remove the laptop battery and lead. It is recommended to statically discharge yourself (at work we dont, ill be honest but you should) grabbing a central heating or water pipe will do the trick. It is just to prevent the electric shock you sometimes get/give people or things when you are walking around. Most laptop keyboards are fixed in place by 5 or more latches around the edge of the keyboard. Look very carefully along the edge of your laptop for little latches that stick out from the side and overhang the keyboard. These are what keeps the keyboard in place. Carefully with a small screwdriver you need to push these little latches off of the keyboard and free up that section. The latches will spring back so lift the keyboard over the latch and proceed to the next latch.Once you have them all free the keyboard should be very loose but do not pull it yet. IF the keyboard is not loose check for any latches you missed, run the screwdriver along the edge of the keyboard feeling for bumps as it hits the latch. IF there are no more then flip the laptop over and look in the centre for a screw with a little keyboard icon next to it. You will need to remove this screw and any others labelled with the same icon. Keep them safely to one side. Now the keyboard is loose but it is still connected by a cable which could easily be broken. On my laptop this cable is at the top of the keyboard (if you are sitting at it as you would usually use it) so you will notice that the keyboard can be opened almost like a hinged trap door with the cable connecting it to the motherboard at the back (or one side) be careful here, it's not particularly weak but still take care. You dont really need to disconnect this cable and in fact it might be difficult to do anyway, so leave it attached. Now carefully clean what you can being gently and removing the residue. Once clean leave the keyboard wet side up to dry for about one hour. Make sure it is in a place that is fairly clean and not vulnerable to people or more drinks getting to it! After it is dry replace the keyboard firmly pressing it back into place. IF you are sure it is 100% dry replace the battery and adapter and power it on. IF you are unsure leave it to dry naturally for some time. Id advise against a hair drier at this point due to the heat and dust.Hopefully that will solve the problem. If it doesnt look on e-bay for a spare keyboard or a broken laptop the same model as yours for a cheap keyboard. You may need to pay a pro to replace it depending if you want to get down and dirty with your laptop. When i bricked mine up thanks to various spills and a lot of use i couldnt get the back free from the motherboard so i ended up using force I had a new one so it didnt matter but i found it pretty damn hard to get off. Disclaimer:I accept no damage to you, the dog or any other object, person or creature or state of mind resulting from following these instructions. This may or may not void your warranty or other agreements. Personally i would feel comfortable doing all of these steps and i have done so before. It isnt dangerous or hard but i still cant accept responsibility!Good luck

I knew when i say TF's name i was in for a mental battle! Here goes...Firstly a disclaimer: I havent read many religious texts. In fact the only religious texts i have read are those i was forced to study at school. Personally i find that the mainstream religions are nonsense usually based around the earth based religious practices at the time. For example Easter and Christmas are both set within a few days of the ancient pagan days of Yule and Oestara and feature very, very similar traditions. Christmas is based on yule or the winter Solstice which typically falls on the 21st or sometimes the 22nd of December. Earth worshipping religions chose this because of the symbolism of light over dark, a fresh start a logical end to the year or whatever... A lot of pagan traditions revolve around lighting candles and the Yule log, which is a log decorated with various fruits, leaves and other decorations and then burned in the fireplace or hearth. (by the way, im sure you know most of this TF, but others might not so im going through it) Now, practically this cant really be done all the time... So i imagine it is where the tradition of a christmas tree comes from. Why is this important?Well unfortunately im bible bashing again... The christians who wanted power and money needed to convince the pagans of europe that Christianity was the way forward. They did this by many ways, usually using torture, killing and various other blood fests, one less brutal method that was used was either demonising paganism or by telling the pagans that paganism was in fact christianity and integrate themselves into pagan festivals. Christmas is a prime example of this. When the christians could convince the pagans to stop their celebrations they just plonked christmas day right next to Yule. Adopting almost all of the traditions. Feasts, and even the very tradition of the birth of Christ himself. Yes folks, that's a sequel as well. The neo-Wiccans of today celebrate the soltace as the (re)-birth of their god, who is represented by the sun rising in his splendor and glory on the morning of the 21st to banish the darkness and gain in strength up to the summer solstace where he stands strong and proud. Convenient then that Jesus was also born around yule? It's not a perfect match i admit but its damn close, too close to ignore in fact. And to be fair if a child was born 4 days from christmas and looked a bit like jesus many christians would readily accept him as a new saviour, they wouldnt need 100% match but im sure they will dispute what i have said.Oestara then... Sounds very much like Easter, is a celebration of the spring time, features rabbits and eggs extensively (using eggs to represent new growth, fertility (woman) etc... and often decorating them in pale yellows, and other pastel colours) In fairness it doesnt feature the rebirth of anyone, but given the fact that Oestara is about the symbolism of birth and fertility a "dead" jesus emerging from a cave has some links. And the date is also very close. I think in the old calendar it is the 21st of March and in the new calendar can vary between then and a few days into April. Oestara is the 21st/22nd of March. The Equinox, a time when light is stronger than dark. This all leads us back to the debate at hand... From a religion that is essentially paganism rebranded we are taught that God created the world in 7 days. Now, i know age doesnt affect the "truth" of any religion. And im not saying Paganism is 100% correct, however. You have to admit that if paganism existed thousands of years beforehand and then Christianity comes along using the same symbolism, the same holidays and the same ideas (even the holy trinity can be traced to paganism with the triple goddess who represents the maiden, mother and crone/(older lady)) and then tortures, kills and beats anyone who doesnt believe before using the "Youre going to hell!" guilt trip and then taxing its followers very heavily (i mean come on. The pope probably wipes his backside with gold leaf) is really not something i can ever believe. Like i said, i'm not saying paganism is correct and true. It is what i subscribe to through experiences and feelings i have had as well as common sense. Im not a religious fanatic, i work with technology every day, read science articles every day and am generally very scientific. I also have strong beleifs that science calls stupid and unreal. So i like to think i am fairly balanced when it comes to science Vs god but I'm sorry. The things Christianity has done in the name of power and money and the lies they have spread and continue to spread is beyond me. There is undoubtedly a religion that existed before paganism upon which paganism and the recent offshoots such as Wicca, are based on. But paganism doesnt pretend to be the only answer.I am not saying the Christian god doesnt/didnt exist. Personally i think that if you pray to god (henceforth god = Christian god) things will happen. It will have an effect. Im not saying he isnt there. But what i believe is an energy is out there. Chrstianity calls it god, Islam: allah, Wiccans: the god and goddess and the Egyptians had many names for it. The name is irrelevant call it bob jones it doesnt matter. It will accept your will and affect you and those around you whether you pray to it or invoke it in meditation or witchcraft. What i am saying however is that no-one or thing created the earth in accordance with the creationist theory. There is the argument about what triggered the big bang etc.. and I cant answer that. But i can say that creationism just doesnt work. It comes from religions based on religions based on religions. Some say that the creationist story is a metaphor. 7 days represents a huge long timescale but that god still made the earth. More plausible but i still cant believe anything that christianity says. I honestly cant. I mean recently some kids were found to have been abuse in Ireland by priests and what not. When the Irish police requested information from the Vatican they got ignored!!!! How can you trust anything this religion tries to tell you when it prides its own reputation over the safety of children?! Holy cow... Seriously.... Also its a religion about male domination, as is islam and judaism. That's why god is a man, jesus/moses/the phophet is a man, the 12 disciples are all men, actually virtually every character in the bible is a man... to be honest. Except Mary. That's why in the western world and any country dominated by Islam/Christianity/Judaism women have lower pay, lower rights, etc....

Doh my post got lost I need to strip the delete keys out of the computers in this place, i might get some peace then :PAnyhoo... Creationism fails on two accounts: Firstly there is evidence, that is known to be fact that proves it is false. given the time scales shown in the bible (im going to refer to Christianity here as ive had it rammed down my throat enough to know a little of which i speak.). There are some christians who think dinosaurs did not exist because god didnt make them and all the fossils are fake. Nice one. Plus there is evidence for evolution: Evidence FOR evolution + Evidence AGAINST creationism = Evolution sounding more likely. And then there is the general falsity and incompleteness of the bible itself. Many chapters or books of the bible are missing. What i mean by missing is that they have been deliberately left out to lead people astray. Topics that deal with Mary not being a virgin are missing and various other pieces that generally discredit the Christian faith have been torn out. Based on the fact the religion cant even publish most of it's history due to lies and shame i cant believe their incredible story about Creationism.Christianity and Judaism are basically the same stories anyway (i know im going to get flamed for that but im going to hell anyway so i might as well get used to flames eh?) Most of Buddhist faiths are generally metaphorical and the parts that arent are more myth than truth. Most of the pagan paths dont teach any form of creationism. A world doesnt have to be created by some almighty god to make it special and a nice place, those pagan religions that do teach of a world created by gods and goddesses are again metaphorical or mythical. It isn't taught as being fact rather as a nice story and instead of saying the god and godess were above you watching you you are (usually) taught that various things *represent* them, depending on which deities you adhere to usually it is a case of the moon representing the female goddess (mainly due to its more feminine nature and the fact it is linked to the menstrual cycle somewhat) and the god either being represented by the sun or various trees with his attributes. Some paths obviously teach differently, and belief is individual. While most of that is irrelevant i wouldnt want anyone to think i was specifically picking on Christianity. You are entitled to your beliefs, i do not dislike Christianity as a religion but i do dislike its methods, hypocrisy, corruption and most of its followers who try to convince me im evil. Move along please.

I'm no excel expert. I actually dislike most office products, they are just a pain! Anyway: Is apparently what you need to use where the first cell range is the NUMBER cells to look up and the second cell range is the two corner cells to use. So that's the top left cell which contains the first subject and then bottom right cell that contains the last number. Basically you are marking out a table in the data. You then need to use "1" at the end to tell excel to look in the first column/row of data. You should easily be able to change the V to a H and use HLOOKUP instead. to clarify: The bold text is the cells which contain the numbers to check for the highest value The Italic text is the table corners. Top left and bottom right of the data. The underlined text is the row/column to get the value from. This needs to be the row or column where your subjects are. So as it stands this would be row 1 (using HLOOKUP) If the subjects were at the bottom it would be row 2. Does that help? Original source: http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/excel/vlookup.htm (PS the N/A error means excel cant find the term you are searching for or it found empty cells in the table.)

Well i have a few arguments here, firstly the scientific:It's an accident. Look at this way, if it had never happened then no-one would ever know it didnt happen because we wouldnt be here. Right? I mean its inevitable from a conscious standpoint. If humans had never evolved then you would never have been born to think "oh look, i never evolved and i was never born" you cant think if you havent been born. Hence it is inevitable that you were born. Let's say it took 10 trillion years and 100bn different planets before humans evolved. It doesnt matter how unlikely it is it HAS to happen. If it doesnt then no-one is there to say "Oh, that never happened" because they cant exist. That means the only question can ever be "Why did humans evolve?" And it could NEVER have been "Why *didnt* humans evolve" because no-one is there to ask it. Does that make sense? Think about it... Chance is irrelevant. It's like seeing a person stumble out of the jungle after being stranded for a year. Even if their chances of getting out alive were 100 to 1 it doesnt matter. they ARE out alive so their chances are irrelevant. No matter how long the chance of something happening is there is only ever two outcomes. It either does happen or it doesnt. There is also the evolutionary point to answer the question "Why are humans intelligent?" well if they werent intelligent they died. Simple. If you are a dumb pre-historic human you have no claws, teeth or horns to fight with. You are a bite size meal for a pack of lions and you are so dumb you try to talk to lions and pet them. You're going to get eaten and so you will never h ave kids so the stupidity dies with you. Through this process humanity gets more intelligent. Why are there only a few extremely hairy women? Or only a few men who look like women (naturally) because these people dont get the chance to mate and have children. Only the strongest (mentally physically and in attraction) people breed and have kids, so therefore the next generation is more "attractive" than the last. and then only the best of the best of those children have kids and so on. Through this process dumbness, weakness etc.... are slowly removed from the gene pool. Now, dont think im shallow, there is much more to attraction and relationships than this. But this is how evolution works. Find a male peacock and paint all its feathers grey. He aint having no babies! So if he was a "faulty" peacock who had bad genes that gave him dull feathers he wouldnt get a mate and so only the most vibrant peacocks have kids and so they are even more vibrant and so on.Then of course there is the more "religious" option. I dont consider myself religious, i consider myself a pagan of sorts and hence believe in various powers of the earth, universe etc...I dont know how that would make intelligence but i leave that up to you...What do i believe? Hum... I believe evolution. Like you said there is too much evidence for it. But this doesnt rule out any religion or any of the various energies that i think flow through the universe. It isnt a case of science OR religion it can be science AND religion (even though i dont term my beliefs religious lets just pretend i do...)So i can believe the science of evolution, because i see the evidence, and yet what i feel inside me is that there are energies science hasnt discovered yet but it doesnt mean that science is wrong about everything. Far from it.PS creationism is just foolish... Unless i am shown evidence of something i cannot believe it. Plus so much of what religious texts say has been proven wrong. Especially with relevance to the dates like you mentioned so that part IS false, which makes me wonder what else is.

Sounds From Hell In Siberia First scientis proof of Hell existance
shadowx replied to fermin25's topic in General Discussion
FAKE HOAX RUBBISH An american radio show traced the story through europe and this is where the trail ends. A fabricated story of fakeness. But of course, all your god fearing fools will say i am wrong, that it isnt a hoax. But it IS. One of your own, a church pastor, said it was a hoax. Get over it.... If you cant believe me then believe one of the men who holds your faith, someone you are supposed to trust as he has apparently been appointed by your god. Believe him and for god's sake stop insulting him with your stupidity! Seriously! If you think god created you, and gave you knowledge then use it to research these things! You make him look like an idiot who is incapable of making intelligent humans. Use your "god given" knowledge to check these things! It took me five minutes. FIVE minutes! (Plus sloth is a sin so in theory by not researching it you are sinning. I guess I'll see you in Siberia. Best bring a coat, it gets chilly waiting around for Satan to let you in. OH and a rope, unless you want to jump down the hole but i mean really? A rope is so much safer. -
Sorry you will need to use HLOOKUP instead of VLOOKUP (if it exists, if HLOOKUP doesnt exist then you will need to re-arrange the data so it is vertical) Your formula is slightly wrong though. You have Where your numbers are in the cells A2:D2 and your subjects are in A1:D1 (in the second example_ The formula basically says this: I dont know what the 1 at the end is for So basically you need to make the formula look in the number cells fo rhte highest value and then pick the corresponding subject from the cells ABOVE: Vertical lookup(Biggest number in(NUMBER:CELLS), Show me the corresponding value from, SUBJECT:CELLS, 1) EG: Try that In your second exmaple where the numbers are on the second row and the subjects on the first. If you copy and paste it then be aware i have put a * between the colon and the D's as otherwise it gets lumped together as the emoticon. So if you copy and paste remember to take out the *

The use of cookies etc... will track your computer, not the connection. So for example if i tell T17 to remember my login details that is saved to my computer using a cookie which is a small text file saves on your hard drive by the website. They are also used for adverts and to track visitors. So if you visited T17 and saved your login details using the landline phone connection and then accessed T17 using the broadband connection later it would "know" you are on the same computer. There are also ways the authorities have of tracing IP addresses through your ISP but they would only do that if you've been doing something you shouldnt have been. Plus they would need to track both IPs and then discover they link to the same personal details that you used to set the account up (IE you).

Oo you people reply fast! i originally said: Your stuff should still all be there. But i assume jlhaslip knows better, i assumed that if it is suspended it is simply locked and not altered in any other way. If it gets cancelled ten the stuff gets deleted. I could be wrong though

Wouldn't it be a shame if we all died without sharing what we know?Well here is a thread for changing that. If you know something interesting or useful or just something that other people might not know then share it here. Tell everyone what you know! Let's not get into religious type stuff though or "How To"....Theories are ok though :PI'll post my thoughts later

Exploding Gum Kills Ukranian Student Chemical accident?
shadowx replied to ghost of delete key's topic in General Discussion
Nitroglycerine could explode with very little energy input from a bit of heat, a sharp jolt, the tiniest of sparks etc... And glycerin is a fairly common chemical i think and the nitro bit is just nitrogen i would imagine...Still, if you are concocting Nitroglycerine in your bedroom these things are bound to happen! -
I notice the formula shows A3:D4 which i think should be A3:D3 not 4. Might be worth trying correcting that. What happens if you simply delete the subjects under the numbers?

Vlookup seems to be what you are after: https://answers.yahoo.com/

Writing Help Speech within a story and grammar.
shadowx replied to shadowx's topic in Art & Creativity
That's the thing, when i read a book im not aware of all the "He said" type stuff, just the dialogue itself, im not even aware of the words most of the time, just a movie in my mind, it's hard to explain but i can see the story, and feel it and not actually see the words on the page. That's what im trying to achieve here.I think im fairly good with description but it's hard to tell as the writer as you already have the preconceived ideas in your head, you can already see the character before you even describe them so you know what they look like but the reader can only go on what you provide them. It's not easy but sometimes it just flows (it could be garbage but meh, i enjoy writing it!) I used to write poetry back in the "dark days" but now the pain is gone so is the poetic flair, mostly anyway. There's also the balance between realism of characters and what people expect from them. I mean in the Harry Potter books these 12 year old kids simply run when faced with life threatening danger of a three headed dog and follow an evil teacher into an unknown dungeon when in reality you would freeze from fear and then never go back again! But as a character it wouldnt work if they were all cowards. -
That's a much better idea than my idea for paper free magazines! But it only works if the number of pages is the same each time. It can be less than before but never more than the maximum which is fine for a newspaper. They could offer their little insert mags/guides as a touch button where you touch an image representing the cover of the insert and the paper magically transforms its content into that of the insert. Once done you tap a button and the paper puts its new content back on the pages.

I'm Finally Here! Where else would I wind up?
shadowx replied to ghost of delete key's topic in Introductions
I think the security is the same for all of the hosting, unless you want to deal with the president over some secure connection in which case i think Xisto might be the wrong choice!!The main difference is the dedicated IP, custom NS and various extras like silly amounts of bandwidth and storage space and possibly extra logging features. -
This could be contradictory, my beleifs at the moment are somewhat being moulded by what I feel is "right" however... I consider myself a non-religious pagan. A believer in the power of the universe beyond what science can currently see. Though i do think science will catch up one day (im also a very scientific person. go figure.) So i believe in spiritual entities. I am one, so are you and so is bob who did ten thousand years ago. Where do we go after death? I couldnt say for sure, but it is *somewhere* and in this world there are bad people. I will avoid the term evil as i feel it is a term made by the church and other mainstream religions who would tell me satan is going to thoroughly bugger me for eternity because i dont believe in their god. So if you prefer the term "evil" then that is what i mean by "bad".There are murderers, rapists and general bad guys out there, why would they instantly change into happy helpful spirits when they die? They wouldnt. Maybe a few would when they realize that life isnt everything and stealing was wrong ,but most will stay the way they are. There are then the truly wicked individuals who would torture a child for pleasure before killing it etc... these are your "evil" "demons". Like anyone in the astral planes they can assume many forms. Horned beasts (which actually represent fertility and power and generally good things but the Christians needed to demonise paganism so they gave satan horns.) or ugly gargoyles etc... Any of us can assume these forms but these individuals enjoy scaring and harming people so the most cliched scary forms are the ones they would choose. Demons in the sense of "anti-angels" IMHO do not exist. For them to exist i would have to believe in angels, and i do not. I struggle with myself because i am unsure of the existence of a god and goddess. From my days learning about Wicca (Flame me and i will start an entire debate about why you are wrong about your pre-conceptions of Wicca and paganism. I welcome it.) i learned of the existence of sentient beings, namely the God and Goddess, again the opposite nature of the universe prevails here, male/female. However, i cannot scientifically explain that, believe it or not i can almost scientifically explain the existence of magick and the afterlife. to myself at least. But i cant figure how two beings of pure energy can exist with separate minds. Saying that i will refer to the moon as the goddess and feel the god in the forests (in many traditions trees and forests have deities related to them. In my case the oak tree represents the god. and it almost feels right. But that has serious ramifications as it suggests, due to the dual nature of the universe, that there is an "evil" counterpart to each. Unless of course the universe is happy to have the male/female opposite and doesnt require a male/evil-male female/evil-female combination. So, do demons exist? I cant answer that until you tell me what a demon is. In my mind, no they do not. There are spirits who would tell you they are demons but they arent. They are bad, for sure. But they are lying and generally weak. But like Misanthrope said. Don't mess with these guys. I believe that we are all watched by our guardians who are relatives, family friends etc...that have stepped through the veil and will protect us. They are strong so in times of need you can call on them. And if you think that you are under attack from demons i suggest learning about psychic defence, calling your guardians and seeking your spiritual leader (priest, coven, whatever) for advice.
