Education and knowledge is more powerful than brute force. If you understand your enemy, they will be that much easier to defeat. You are so short sighted that you simply cannot see the benefit of talking to a councelor.

Yes, chances are the bully won't stop and will beat you up. But understanding your enemy is so that NEXT time he won't even WANT to beat you up in the first place... Think about that... take your narrow mind and think about how to PREVENT beatings rather than facing them in the momment.

I don't know what world you live in, but talking to someone doesn't always work. If you tried to talk someone down, I doubt that if they really wanted to hurt you, that it would do any good.

Ya you're right. And you perfectly support my point. Talking to someone doesn't always work but there are times when it WILL. No method is fool proof but one should atleast TRY talking THEN fighing as a last resort. You're recommendation is to "break some arms and legs".

Asking a professional for help is never a cop out way of dealing with a problem. Defending ones self doesn't necessarily have anything to do with violence. Please understand that attacks and defence are military terms yet they do not always represent violent behavior. I did not recommend that he doesn't defend himself. If you'll read a little more carefully, I recommended that he FACE the bully without FEAR but without resorting to violence. How is this a cop out??

Violence is the real cop out. It is the EASIEST solution. Why not just get a gun and shoot the bully dead? You will have defended yourself and the bully will never bother you again...

This paragraph made me laugh... thanks.. Being successful in life requires thought and confidence (along with other things) but not violence. You don't really seem to grasp the idea that being confident does not mean staying in the shadows or hiding. Besides, I'm not sure what you would consider a "real career"... vigilante? army? police? moron? Most "successful" people with "successful" careers are EDUCATED and THINK things through before acting.

IE most women take self defense classes, but when actually assualted most of them forget their training and are still attacked. Are you saying they were wrong? Yes, many women might freeze up in that given situation... but don't you agree that it is better that they atleast have gone through a class and have got some professional help? You'd rather they forget about the class since they MIGHT freeze up anyway? How can you argue with me on this point of trying to understand a situation?

And no, it isn't irresponsible to tell them to break someone's leg or arm. What are you? 12? When someone has a gun to my head, no *BLEEP* I don't care about his well being, Imma break his arm so he doesn't shoot me. If he is going to punch your head in (and yes some bullies really aren't the scared ones as some people would like to think), I would think defending yourself and if you have to almost, and yes I mean almost, break his arm to make him go away. Do it. Then report the incident and move on with your life.

IN THIS CASE, the bully is simply pushing him around and saying "Watch you gonna do about it?". You tell me if BREAKING his arms and legs isn't too extreme... How would you feel if this kid gets KILLED because the bully came back the next day with a gun? Now tell me your statement isn't irresponsible..

why did you even bother to tell people your real identity? Does it really matter? Personally, I have a really big aversion to giving out personal information on the internet. I've always used CuteFTP and haven't used many other ones. I never really found the need to since CuteFTP was pretty good. But, most FTP programs I've used are the same anyway.. just a different interface. I find CuteFTP has a good interface (maybe I'm just used to it now).

I've got a few of her songs on my hard drive. There is also Hikaru Utada which is also like Ayumi. But, I really am not into pop music so I don't have too many of their songs. I find most japanese singers do pop and "bubble gum" stuff which I don't listen to very much.

Everyone has been having mysql problems over the last couple weeks it seems. I got an email from Xisto saying that some people are abusing the server which caused it to go down. Personally, I don't use MySQL. I don't really see a need for it unless you are setting up something complex like a forum. I've seen people use MySQL for guestbooks, and other simple stuff. No need. I make my own guestbook using PHP and simply read and write to my own file.

Ya. I noticed mine a few days ago too. Under new features... it was gone for a while but it came back and pop3 was in it.. Seriously though, i dont even need or want it. i used to like pop3 so I could use an emial client but, now I am used to gmail interface and it is pretty fast... so, i don't think i will use it.

My replies were more general taking into consideration previous posts with BoSZ that I had assumed you read. Even in your posts you strayed from the topic of browsers talking about saftey standards and markets (specifically the death of a product).This is exactly the same progression in which my converstaion with BoSZ went. So, Basically I had already addressed these points in previous posts. In effect, I would have eventually taken you down the same road that BoSZ and I went on... which is off-topic. That's why I suggested to goto another thread.I know english is not ur first language so I hope you understand this.

Why isn't apache on the list? Apache is probably the best web server but is probably also the hardest to set up because there are so many options. There is also MS's IIS services. These 2 are probably the most popular web servers and aren't on the list.

Actually, I belive the question should be "Do you like CLASSES in school?". I find that school is great. Hang with friends, meet new people, etc. But, sitting through class is the worst part. If it weren't for classes, I'm sure everyone would like school.But, then again... It's been a while since I've been in "school". Although, I did just finish a university program.. if that is still considered school...

I agree with Donegal, its exactly like MOZILLA and INTERNET EXPLORER. GMAIL and MSN are practically on the exactly in parralel and I think Mcirsoft is likely to lose out big time on both fronts.  Mind you, just my opinion...

It's not EXACTLY like Mozilla and IE... Google is killing MSN and Mozilla has yet to make a dent in IE marketshare. This is due mostly to brand recognition.

 

Google has used its brand identity to extend into the email arena. Everyone knows and uses google as their search engine. Most people are very satisfied, and have never had complaints, with Google. People will associate this "quality" with Google's email as well.

 

Mozilla on the other hand is an unknown name to the majority of users. Ask 10 people on the street, I'll bet not even 1 person will know what Mozilla is. Ask those same 10 people and they will know exactly what Google is. That is the big difference why Google is able to steal marketshare from MS while Mozilla cannot.

I simply commented on a hosting request saying that I couldn't believe it was approved because all of the posts were cut and pasted news articles and jokes. Check whot the creator of the file is. Sometimes only the file creator can delete the file. I run a php script that creates a new file and even though I create the file with 777 permission, on some servers, I cannot delete the file through FTP or the file manager. I had to create a php script to delete the file, in other words, have the "file creator" delete the file. It is odd but I think this could be your problem.

If they can't access anything on that particular server, then it is most likely that either the server has blocker her IP address or her ISP has blocked that servers ip address. Most likely the 2nd one. This probably happened because someone hosting a site on the server spammed her ISP and they blocked it. This is my best guess. If everyone else can access a server and you are the only one that can't, it usually means some blocking is involved. Of course, this is assuming that this is the only server you can't access. If you can't access other servers as well, then it is probably your computer blocking the server (firewall, etc.)...

you will have to talk to the admin of Xisto (which is not me). Goto the request hosting section and post your request. You need a minimum of 10 quality posts to get accepted. Read all the stickies in the request section to find out what information you need to include. Once approved, you will be given some space on Xisto servers and you can upload your site.

Doesn't seem like it's for everyone. I looked into my gmail account and it is not offered... I don't really need or want POP access (1 Gig email on my own hard drive?!?? crazy). but, this gets me thinking to what other features I may be missing... I would have thought all gmail users would get the same features.

nobody wants your gmail invites because you are charging 10 dollars for it. gmail invites are all over the web and are free. I've given away so many I've lost count (for sure over 100). Besides, selling gmail invites is a violation of their terms of service.

That pissed me off because.. BULLSH*T insider trading doesn't go on everyday. I too one day hope to be a part of insider trading because I am going into that kind of life. The entire reason Martha Stewart was put on the spotlight is because, IMO, she is a successful woman and these petty *bottom* mofos are jealous of her.

Insider trading is ILLEGAL. If you are trying to get into that life, you are asking for jail time. The reason why Martha Stewart was put into the spot light is because she broke the law in a time when business scandals were rampant.

 

Insider trading is illegal for many VERY GOOD reasons. If insider trading were allowed, basically the entire economy would collapse and the free markets would simply be broke. A market only works when there is equal information, otherwise, there would be zero confidence in that market. With no confidence in the market, it would make it terribly hard for companies to raise capatial to conduct business.

Your site looks very nice and professional. I would have to say that most import car racing sites have that kinda feel and look.

It looks pretty good but I don't really like the fonts in the grey&blue headers (I don't like the colors, just my taste I guess). Also the information is placed in table cells. While that isn't really a bad thing, the problem is that the table cells don't resize acording to how many text is in it. So to check all info I would have to go with my mouse to the box & start scrolling. If you resize the table and spread it out on the entire page, reading stuff would be faster.

thanks for the input. I put the information in a div with the overflow option on because it would probably mean a very long page. I actually had it the way you suggested before but I'm not sure which is better. In some places with more text, I made the div bigger so it would be easier. I will consider changing this.

I find a lot of Americans are simply confused and scared. That's why Bush is in office. Bush promised to get rid of terrorism by attacking and going on the offensive. This made sense to a lot of americans... It's too bad that most Americans don't know attacking terrorists is the absolute worst way to stop it.Terrorism starts because of extremists who have no more alternatives. In this case, the powerful US is the "big bully" and the terrorists are the little guys. By attacking Iraq for no apparant good reason, Bush simply pushed the terrorsits further and further. Leaving them with fewer alternatives. Even people who had not previously thought about terrorism will now support it. This is classic one step forward (kill one terrorist) and two steps back (they recruit two more because of it).

I find firefox loads slower period. starting up the browser is noticeably slower. back to the images, i can often see images that are half loaded and it takes a little bit for it to complete. In IE, the same page loads slightly faster... But then you guys are probably gonna argue that ... "the site you are talking about wasn't created using the 'proper standard'. Well, when most of the sites on the internet are optimized for IE, then too bad for Firefox. (Not getting into standards arguement here)..

I am gonna assume you haven't made a webpage before...So... It all depends on how sophisticated you want your website to be. If you simply want to create something like a picture gallery, I would recommend just using a WYSIWYG editor.If you are interested in making more advanced web pages you are gonna have to put in the time to learn HTML and Javascript.If you already know a bit of HTML, learn about CSS (style sheets). This is the most useful thing in creating a professional looking website. You can create the layout graphic in your favorite graphics editor and then just use div's to locate where you want the content to go. This is the easiest way to make a good looking website (in my opinion).
