google does an update every 3 months! if your site hasn't been crawled sufficently by then then you're not going to be in the serps by the end of the update. so it can take a year.

its not that msn and yahoo have a strikingly different algo than google, all the SEs pretty much look for the same things. but google is soo slow in adding new websites it's almost criminal! you can be listed at the top of the serps in yahoo and msn for a year before google even puts you in its serps!

what about night classes? would you sign up for them at a local college?have any of you had any experiance with this type of thing, moving to a place no one knows you? I think most people stay where they've grown up...

the reason I put my link up was so that I didn't miss out on free advertising like I did when the milliondollarhomepage was first set up and when ads on that billion visitors page was only like $3 and ended up $100!!

Hi, I just found a website similar to that fanous milliondollarhomepage.com that sold pixel ads for $$$$. The only difference is that his one is giving them away for free. all you need is a paint package to design a short ad. Save it in .gif format as the site seems to have some trouble with .jpg images. I think it's a decent twist to the usual website directories http://www.myadspace.org/ What'd you lot think? Thanks, Andy

pagerank has been well and truly dropped by google's I've got a pr5 site and its not even in the listings for its keywords and the top 20 for those keywords are pr3-4 sites!

google's did alot recently to branch out, but ther main feature is searching by far!

it's a good deal. you lose about 2 credits a day and as long as you make at least one decent post a day you should never have your account turned off.its actuall not as much work as you'd think. Notice from jlhaslip: Actually, you lose one (1) credit per day only if you are Hosted status. Regular un-hosted members do not lose any credits on a daily basis until they become Hosted. This 1 credit per day rule applies to either package.

alot of people are optimising their search engines for yahoo and msn now, as google's off limits to new sites most of the time.

isn't it a bad thing that .be names are free as that will makel alot of english content avaialble when serching for belguim websites?

if google go into ebay's territory maybe ebay will counter with starting their own search engine for the web? Don't forget ebay owns paypal.com so it has the monopoly on auction payments, so google would still have to allow people to pay for auctions through paypal or start their own payment system.

opera is really good for tabbed browsing and keeping all your forum pages in one window in the task bar. I still use IE the most and to surf the web 99% of the time.

I still think that writing articles for real published magaines is better for building up an industry repuation. Subitting articles to websites though is a decent way of egtting free links, though I wouldn't expect your article to be read as much as it would in a regular magasine or newspaper.

I think it is, but the majority of that cost will be taken up by high-charging equipment and software companies who will provide the tools and underwater robots etc. Not by the actual investigators managing the retrived data.
