  1. If it worked without a private key in filezilla then it should work fine in dreamweaver. That warning *should* happen the first time you connect -- but only that once (it's to stop people from spoofing the server). Make sure you save the key when it prompts you. Hope that helps.
  2. Thank you for your feed back rvalkass. The page now validates, and I've switched as many things over to divs as possible (Joomla still includes some tables...but that's beyond my control). The code should be *exceedingly* easy to follow now.Any further suggestions? Those two were most helpful.
  3. I've had the following happen to me twice within the past few days:I struggle with a problem for three or four hours. Eventually I give in and post asking for help. While I wait for the help I continue working on the problem. An hour or two down the road I figure out the issue on my own. As such, I no longer need the topic I created. I'd like to delete it so as not to waste people's time (and clutter up the sub forum), but I don't have the privileges to do so.Being able to delete your own topics would allow users to self moderate, and cut down on the amount of useless stuff. If you are worried about useful answers getting deleted you could make it so a user could only delete a topic if no one else had replied to it.Just a thought. I feel bad about wasting people's time for something I could clean up myself given the chance.
  4. I am trying to use javascript to include a stylesheet depending on the user's resolution. The HTML <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; <?php echo _ISO; ?>" /> <?php if ($my->id) { initEditor(); } ?> <?php mosShowHead(); ?> <noscript><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="highimpactart.org/templates/_HighImpactArt_/1024/1024.css&%2334; /></noscript> <script type="text/javascript"> if (screen.width>=1050) { document.write('<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="highimpactart.org/templates/_HighImpactArt_/1280/1280.css&%2334; />'); } </script> </head> I'm running into two problems. 1) The script doesn't seem to be writing anything. Fixed 2) The <noscript> tags cause all sorts of validation errors. From what I've read it seems as though the <noscript> tag is not allowed within the <head> section -- is this correct? Could the same thing be accomplished just putting the default stylesheet above the javascript? The 1280 stylesheet has the same exact classes as the 1024 stylesheet, so would that over ride it? 3) The Validator doesn't like the fact that I have a "link" element inside the javascript code. Any suggestions about how to fix it? Evidently xhtml doesn't play nice with javascript by default. You need to add in two extra lines. Ie: <script type="text/javascript">/*<![CDATA[*/ YourJavaScriptCodeHere/*]]>*/</script> Thank you for your time.
  5. Didn't realize that you had left a comment before I nuked my post. As you rightly pointed out, I needed to use block level elements instead. I had come to the same conclusion about an hour earlier, but I certainly appreciate your help. Now I've *almost* gotten everything right. Just one more bug and I should be good. For somereason the 1024 layout is incorrectly displaying one of the images. So close and yet so far away. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  6. Figured out my problem (didn't know you can't assign absolute values to inline elements). Mods please delete this when you get the chance.Thanks.
  7. Cool. Would someone mind moving my other post into the Website Showcase forum now? I'd delete it and remake it, but I don't think I have permissions to do that. The thread is located at: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/57539-feedback-on-webdesign-political-art-video-gallery/ I haven't received any feedback on the design as of yet, and am hoping having it placed in the correct area might help Thanks.
  8. hah you're on top of the posts. Yeah i just edited the original one to say basically the equivalent. The math questions are fun. Remind me of highschool. I'm in art school now, so not much use for algebra.
  9. heh, if I wasn't already hosted I'd grab up all the programming related ones. And I see you're trying to be tricky by using 1 instead of -1 in number 3
  10. Hello everyone, After a few months of work my new sitedesign is up. The page is mostly just a showcase for some Political Art I've been doing. I'm pretty excited about my new design. Although it isn't as "professional" as some of the other work i've done in the past, I wanted something more personal and artistic. Any feedback/criticism/comments you have would be much appreciated. -- Paolo Unger Dvorchik P.S. The artwork itself is still being updated, so don't worry about discussing that quite yet (unless you can't hold yourself back ;P). I'll ask for critiques on it in a few months when things are more cohesive.
  11. Will do electriic ink. Thanks for looking into it.
  12. I concur! Statcounter is free, fully configurable, and has the most options out of any counter service I've seen to date.
  13. Hello everyone,I used to use Xisto a lot back in the day, but have since switched over to Xisto - Web Hosting due to my lack of free time. I wanteded to drop by and post my new website design so I could get some feedback on it. However the site won't allow me to post in that catagory, presumably because I am not "Level 1." I am a premium member, and have made 193 quality posts to date. Do you think I'm really at risk of spamming things? ^_^The real error I get is "Sorry, you do not have permission to start a topic in this forum." That being said, i've posted in this catagory in the past, and so am assuming it has to do with the fact that "This forum is now strictly monitored. This section is reserved for Member Level 1 or higher. This is to prevent unwanted spam advertisement by just passing bystanders. Thank you."Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks,~Paolo
  14. Happy to help. 1) The answer to this, in most cases, is not significantly. Roughly 60% of women report no side effects at all, and the vast majority of those who do have only minor issues. That being said, the real answer depends on the individual and the medication. As previously mentioned Ortho tri-cyclen Lo has the lowest chance of side effects (meaning that weight gain is mostly unheard of). It's also worth mentioning that the pill may increase a woman's breast size...which may or may not be a good thing depending on your taste 2) These medications are still very very new. As such, they should still be considered research drugs. While scientists may have a good idea of the short-term side effects, they've yet to conduct any studies dealing with prolonged exposure. Meaning that there is definitely a possibility that taking it for years may cause medical problems including infertility or other medical complications. Simply put, I personally definitely would not risk it. Then again, I'm positive that I'm going want to have kids in another ten years or so.
  15. 1) That depends on what pill you get, your insurance, and the current market price (oddly enough). Assuming you have medical insurance it shouldn't be more than $10-20 per month. If you really can't swing that you can always goto a planned parenthood and get them for free/donation. 2) The morning after pill shouldn't really be used as a contraceptive. It's more of a "oh %&^# I shouldn't have done that last night!" sort of thing. There are many different pills out there, what's best differs from person to person. Therefore, it's best to discuss it with a doctor. From my personal experience Ortho tri-cyclen Lo seems to be the most popular. Mostly because it has the smallest chance of side-effects. 3) If used correctly (i.e. taken every day) there is only a 0.1% chance of failure. That's the best protection, excluding abstaining or a vasectomy, that you're going to get. If the pill is used improperly then the failure rate goes up to 5%. For the past five years every woman I've been with has been on the pill. No problems yet. *keeps his fingers crossed*
  16. Wow, lots of (uncited) statistics being thrown around. Let me try to clarify the issue a little. According to wikipedia, if you use the condoms properly there should only be a 2% chance of breakage. That goes up to 10-18% if you use them improperly. FolkRockFan listed a bunch of good precautions, but forgot one of the biggest ones: Make sure you're putting it on correctly! 1) Don't put it on until you/your partner is fully erect. 2) Always pinch close the reservoir tip (that small balloon looking thing on the end of the condom) while rolling it on. If you don't leave any space for the semen (which is traveling at 25+ mph) to go then you're just asking for problems. As far as the AIDs issue goes, no--condoms are not 100% effective. But they do bring the chance of infection down by 85%. Not going to get too graphic here but, depending on both/all of your libidos, you might need more than one
  17. I'm currently enrolled in the Art Institute of Boston as a second semester Junior. Over the past four months I've been working on a public performance videography piece for my sophomore seminar class. You can think about it kind of like a mini-thesis. Anyways, after countless hours of headaches the thing is finally done. Any comments or critiques would be much appreciated. If you like it please pass it on.
  18. I narrowed the problem down to the javascript stylesheet chooser I was using. I changed to a different one, and now that issue is gone. Ofcourse there now are other problems, but c'est la vie.
  19. The gallery page includes an embeded version of Menalto's Gallery2. As such, it loads its own stylesheets as well (http://www.facesofwar.org/gallery/modules/colorpack/packs/bluebottle/color.css and http://www.facesofwar.org/gallery/themes/matrix/theme.css). However, the global stylesheets (for the site) are loaded afterwards...so they should take presidence.
  20. Thanks again to everyone for your help, it's very much appreciated. This particular issue pertains to: http://imptestrm.com/rg-erdr.php?_dnm=www.facesofwar.org&_cfrg=1&_drid=as-drid-2300300503455222 I'm using a fluid layout with separate style sheets for the following resolutions: 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x960. All of the pages render correctly on Firefox and Safari. Unfortunately, for no reason that I can figure out, internet explorer refuses to restrict the width of the div tag containing text in the 800x600 and 1024x768 versions of the gallery page. (Yes, I know that i.e. doesn't natively support the css max-width/min-width commands, but I'm getting around it with a javascript). Furthermore, the image size for the thumbnails on that page isn't always correctly restricted either (but I verified that the correct style sheet *is* getting applied). The odd part is that it works 100% fine in the 1280x960 version. And, besides the differing measurements, all the style sheets are completely identical. This one has me really stumped. The 800x600 style sheet is at: http://www.facesofwar.org/templates/facesofwar/css/800.css The 1024x768 style sheet is at: http://www.facesofwar.org/templates/facesofwar/css/1024.css The 1280x960 style sheet is at: http://www.facesofwar.org/templates/facesofwar/css/1280.css If anyone can help me figure out what the hell is going on I'd be *exceedingly* grateful.
  21. Thanks for the info buffalo. The only problem with using the default border styles is that my image was more complicated...but I replicated it by using nested spans, each with their own color solid border. Slightly convaluted, buy hey--it works.\Good call on the menu classes as well.I'm slowly ironing out the problems with this template. Your assistance is very much apprecaited (now it's time for a new problem topic ;P)
  22. Thanks for the suggestion, but it's a no go.
  23. The first issue has been resolved. Please goto Post #7 to see the current discussion. This is in reference to: http://imptestrm.com/rg-erdr.php?_dnm=facesofwar.org&_cfrg=1&_drid=as-drid-2300300503455222 When you load the page up in Firefox it works fine. But when you use I.E. it creates a nasty line break after each of the spans containing a dividing line. The relevant html is: <span class="menuOuter"></span><span class="menuMain">Home Iraq Alt. Media Other Contact</span><span class="menuOuter"></span> And the relevant css (for 1280 resolutions) is: .menuOuter { width: 100%; min-width:1050px; max-width:1050px; min-height:12px; max-height:12px; background-image: url('../images/1280/menubg.gif'); background-repeat: repeat-x; display:block; padding:0;}.menuMain { min-width:1050px; max-width:1050px; min-height:1em; display:block; background-color:#413d3c; text-align:center; color:#FFFFFF; font:2em Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight:bold;} Thanks for your help ahead of time.
  24. Ah, i see what you mean Michael. Unfortunately that still doesn't get around the problem of the fluid layout. Go to the test site (http://imptestrm.com/rg-erdr.php?_dnm=www.facesofwar.org&_cfrg=1&_drid=as-drid-2300300503455222) and change your font size (on a PC just hold down control and move the mouse wheel...don't know about mac). See how the bottom of the image, the point where the footer needs to meet up with, changes depending on what text size you're at?
