  1. I really like Gmail (although it's now called Google Mail in the UK, due to "legal reasons"). All these sites like Google Watch and Gmail is too Creepy are just having a go at Google for no real reason. If they really want to criticise a big company, why don't they go protest against Esso or General Motors? I love Google Mail, it's so much better than the other alterantives. Along with Google Talk, I have no reason to use a hideous MSN product again! It doesn't have huge adverts that fill the page, its interface is neat, tidy, innovative, and unbelievably extremely easy to use, when you get used to it. The storage level is constantly increasing, faster than I can use it up! To be truthful, I could go on all day saying why I love Google Mail, but I don't think it would be the most readable thing ever. Just to end, if you live in the United States, as well as belching out 25% of the world's carbon dioxide emmissions, you also get Gmail without an invite. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  2. That's quite a scary thought actually. I always thought Yahoo were up to no good... Who, in thier right mind, would possibly even think about wanting to send thier credit card details to themselves in twenty years time, though? And didn't the site say that the process was completely automatic? Surely, if they market it as being automatic, they can't go and read through everyone's emails, it would be against the Trade Descriptions Act, or something ... I dunno.
  3. I just read a good review about it and thought I'd try it out. For a free prodct I think it's great. Nothing's really that special about it, I just quite liked it and thought that others might find it useful, that's all.
  4. Okay, thanks for all the help :-)I emailed the creator about this, and he said that it might be to do with the version of phpBB, rather than PHP-Nuke. He gave me a fix for it which I'm going to try out in a mo.I didn't mention it, but I had to make some changes to the database too. All that actually needed to be done was to slightly rename the tables that were installed with the mod, and that was it.Thanks for that info guy, I never realised there was a seperate control panel for my junior admins, hopefully the new update (above) will sort this. Thanks for the advice, both of you, it's been helpful.
  5. I'm using PHP-Nuke, with the ported version of phpBB, which comes as standard.I've just been installing some mods for phpBB, and they've all worked perfectly (I have had to make a few changes though - the "includes" folder is in a different place to that it should be).I needed my staff members to be able to modify other users' profiles, and someone reccommended Jr Admin, so I installed, and changed the paths for the "includes" folder, so that it ran properly. My side of it, the administration panel, works fine. But, my new Junior Admins have no way of accessing the admin panl, to change users' profiles. Whenever they try, they just get the message "You are not authorised to administrate these boards".Am I doing something wrong? Does the Junior Admin mod create a seperate page for them to use, or is it just not compatible with PHP-Nuke, or what?If anyone else has used this mod and could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, saxsux
  6. Whoops! Sorry, the translation link doesn't work. I'm not used to Wordlingo, I only used them because Google doesn't translate Dutch. Anyway, to get the translation, go to http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html Type in the web address (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) and set it to Dutch to English. I know it's a bit off topic, but why the three different languages? And why do they have different names, when they're all the same language? Is there a massive historical reason behind it?
  7. Bummer. It's only free for a year, your right. I got a translation. It's not amazing, but you get the basic jist of it - http://www.worldlingo.com/S9M7KdqhsbwZzboItAX4r/translate From that translation, you can read the Terms and Conditions too, so you know what you're signing up for, if you choose to. This doesn't really appeal to me, seeing as I'm not from Belgium, and am perfectly happy with my .org.uk address. And, it's only about £5 for every two years!
  8. That site is amazing! I've never seen anything like it before, it's even more ingenious than the world's smallest website! The urge to click something is so compelling... did anyone click by accident? I clicked on purpose just to see what happens. What I thought was really nifty was that you could see what other people had done in thier first 2 seconds on the site... some people didin't take very well to it, some of them are quite entertaining!
  9. No, I'm not German. I'm in the UK. In Gmail (oppps... should really call it Google Mail now!) there's a link at the top, much like the "New Features!" links, leading to a page of info about the name change, due to legal reasons, and it mentions that they've done it in Germany too. Either that, or I read it in the news somewhere. I honestly can't remember, and I haven't got enough time to check. I agree with you when you say that googlemail.com is too long. I prefer Gmail, and I just think it will generate some confusion for those people who don't know about the legal name change. They might think that Google has two different email services, or that one's fake and is some sort of phishing scam, or whatever else rubbish.
  10. I've found that too, now that I've uninstalled Norton my RAM usage been a lot lower.I really like how Avast! can be skinned, so you can change how it looks, and so on, which I forgot to mention earlier. And it's free! (just a reminder)
  11. Urrgghh... I've had Norton Antivirus for a couple of years now (started off with Norton AntiVirus 2003 and upgraded to 2004 later) and I haven't been amazingly impressed, I think that quite a bit needed to be done to it. Of course, that was the older versions, so this new version might be up to scratch. Anway, my subscription expired about a month ago, so I uninstalled Norton AntiVirus (it was really difficult, you wouldn't believe how much you have to remove. I had to download a special tool from Symantec to do it), and got Avast! AntiVirus Home Edition for free, and so far it's been great. If you're interested, it's here - https://www.avast.com/index Also, the professional version is only âŹ35,95 (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) a year for a one-computer license which is quite a bit cheaper than Norton, hint hint If you do get Norton, I'd be quite interested to see some screenshots, etc so I know what it's like. Thanks in advance, and I hope this was helpful, saxsux
  12. The choices you make at the beginning have nothing to do with the crap at the end (if you'll excuse the language). Refresh the last page, and it changes every time. The form at the beginning and the animated GIF dialogue box thingy are both fake. I know it's quite off-topic, but reading this thread reminded me of a website called Net Disaster (http://www.netdisaster.com/) You can choose different disasters to happen to a webpage of your choice, from having someone pee on a webpage, to having all the text sucked off it, or a massive amount of flowers growing on it. You can even spill coffee over a website! See below Pretty cool, huh?
  13. I just signed up for an account to see what it's like. There isn't cPanel for some reason, you get a simpler version called "xpanel" or something. It doesn't seem to be working properly at the moment, I tried to create a basic HTML file, to see how it would display with ads, and it didn't work. When I tried to save it, I got this. I couldn't delete my account either, I just got a message saying "Unknown Command". The link on Xisto.net that points to http://www.trap17.net/index-2.html, is wrong - index-2.html doesn't exist. Doesn't Xisto.com and Xisto already allow you to put adverts on your site instead of posting? Opaque made a thread about it - http://forums.xisto.com/topic/80428-topic/?findpost=1064277532 And there's this page about it, with the codes on Xisto.com - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  14. I've read all of these, and some of them are so unbelievably funny! The Stupid Tech Support ones are the best. A while ago I found I similar site to this, it was called Clientcopia, or something. It was pretty funny. I'll see if I can find the IRL for it... Sorry to double post, but here it is - http://www.clientcopia.com/ Notice from moonwitch: merged on users request
  15. I made a thread about Google Earth months ago, and Microscopic^Earthling locked it saying that it had already been done. Why hasn't this been locked yet?
  16. This is ancient! We've already had a thread about this somewhere, so this is un-nessecery.
  17. Why don't you just host files on your own webspace, rather than using these terrible file download/upload sites?I really don't like these sites, all the ones I've used have been reeaaallllyyy sslllooowwww... and there are so many ads, and things telling you to pay for thier service, etcI think they're all a big con, seeeing as you cuold host them yourself in less time, with less hassle and a faster download speed, without having to look at a load of ads. But, that's just my opinion, I'm sure you all think differently
  18. They had this problem in Germany as well, and the had to give German people @googlemail.com accounts, because Gmail was a brand used by a seperate company in Germany.I think it would be better for Google to drop the Gmail brand worldwide and replace it with Google Mail everywhere, otherwise, I think there's gonna be quite a bit of confusion.
  19. Yeah, just do it as you would with any other HTML document. And yes, that's what I mean by a full image path (you'll need to do it with links too, I forgot to mention it in my old post)The cPanel tool basically does the .htaccess for you, so doing the .htaccess method would probably yield the same results. I just posted this because I think it's easier to use, and thought it would be helpful.
  20. There is actually a module of you cPanel that can do this for you, making it much easier.Look under the "Site Managment Tools" section, and find Custom Error Pages (furthest on the right, second row).Choose the error you would like to make a page for, and fill in the box with the HTML you want to use on your error page. When you do images, make sure to use the full URL for them.
  21. I don't think you can watch full films/movies. The new generation iPod is really meant for watching music videos, or TV episodes that can be downloaded from iTunes Music Store. Is WiMAX the same as WiFi?
  22. My sites been on and off for roughly a week now.I hope it gets sorted soon, it's really annoying. Do they have any idea who is launching the attacks?
  23. Look at it on thier website - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I don't like it. Although it's thinner than the previous generation iPods, it's wider and I think that it doesn't look as nice because of that. I'm sure this is going to be a big seller, and the idea of being able to watch your farvourite TV shows aswell as listening to your music where ever you go seems very appealing to me, and probably will to the general public. The only bad thing is that I bought an iPod last week, and now iPod announce a new one, for only ÂŁ10 more. If I'd waited a week I could have one of those! Also, I'm wondering if there will be problems with this new iPod, like there has been with previous "new iPods" from Apple. There has been the massive issue of scratching and screens breaking on the iPod nano, there was the massive shortage of iPod minis when everybody wanted them... Oh well, I'm gonna go on iPodlounge and see what I can find.
  24. Yeah, cPanel is a bit buggy for some reason. I was given Unlimited space for a couple of days, a few months ago.It should get back to normal soon. :-)
