  1. OH there are a few out there, even those that may possibly have to start in their late 20s/early 30s like Hussey, and the back-up keeper in Haddin. Of course, there are the mid 20s like Rogers, Jacques which are touted as the next openers, and even Symonds managed to get a big score today in the 4th ashes test (of course Symonds must go on with it in the next few tests if he wants to keep his spot!).
  2. I dont mind red-bull, but I tend to drink water more those days.. mainly either purified or the cheap bottled (in some cases natural spring) water from the local store or the nearest vending machine.
  3. In other forums, many of the aussie players are heavily scrutinised too, you got Gilchrist's batting "covering up for the passable WK skills", Lee's inconsistency in tests (ie over 30 bowling average), and the ever lasting, never stopping, test-all rounder debate. I'm probably neutral on some of them, but for the all-rounder debate, I'd probably would say scrap it, and keep to the 6 bats, 1 wk/bat, 4 bowlers layout.
  4. Speaking of things, with the now recent retirements of Warne (after the Sydney test), and McGrath (after the World Cup). It probably would be between 12-18 months before Australia is a much younger side by age average, but still there is a good balance of old and new. esp the likes of Ponting, Hussey, Stuart Clark, and Lee in which all 4 are currently 30 or 31 years old and will eventually have to face being labelled "dads army" in 4-5 years time, presuming those 4 are still around by that time.
  5. Very good point regarding medicine, especially those being researched for other sicknesses that hasnt got a cure or a short/mid-term fix as yet.
  6. Yes, hence the debate on many sides whether to phase them all out at once, or take them out one by one. Mind you the selectors have sacked long time champions beforehand without a "fairytale" send-off. See Mark Waugh, Ian Healy for example, both champs. But didnt get the send off they deserved. Already they are plans for at least one or two changes at the end of the series at least. But they'll stick with the same side till the end of the Ashes (unless forced by injury).
  7. Following the Indian cricket thread, I would also like to call out any aussie cricket supporters around lol. Forget what the ODI series in australia is called at the moment (VB, Commonwealth cup, etc or whatever its called).. it'll always be known as the World series lolAt the moment the Ashes is underway, and just recently the third test had just completed, and Australia had just regained the Ashes with a 3-0 lead in a 5-test series. On the cricket section of the sports forum I mod at, many of the regs still go on about chopping and changing the side. Personally though I'm a bit of a beliver to dont change the winning side, however if there is a person that clearly isnt performing, then its a good case for either trying someone out new, and so forth. But at the same time, age is getting to many of the players.. about 5 players, Langer, Hayden, Gilchrist, McGrath & Warne are either 35 or over 35.Would be interesting to hear your thoughts.
  8. Have to say someone that follows the country in major events (ie events of importance, such as Anzac day, etc), and to some other extent, major sporting events such as the Soccer World Cup, World Rugby, Olympics and other things is fairly patriotic. Its one of the times when political beliefs are pushed aside (well in most cases!).
  9. I'd have to say electricity, as it contributed towards entertainment, but most of all light at the darkest of times (ie night time), and does seem to bring the family close together at its opportune times (ie Christmas, thanksgiving, and so forth) through many means such as the fireplace, the fans (summer christmas down under), and so forth.
  10. Which is sort of sad in some ways, depends on how people looks at it. Considering the trusty TV also shows advertisement on how Christmas isnt "just about Santa Clause and gifts" and promotes the birth of Christ, etc, but some kids consider christmas to be that way (Gifts, Santa, etc).
  11. I may not know you that well, but it seems a sad time when another long term member of Xisto has to leave for personal reasons. But still good luck with things with your life, and by all means feel free to stop by at some stage, even if its only in the shoutbox.
  12. I'd probably just have to say that if there was less commercialisation in christmas (ie retailers and megaplexes not overdoing advertising just to grab money), and its just celebrated for whats its for (Family, etc).. and the birth of christ, etc (I'm not usually a religious person), then I'd say fair enough.
  13. Even though I dont know you that well, its been a pleasure having you around. It seems youre a popular person here, and I would suggest either using the library comps or even getting a home comp :lol:Either way, good luck with life, and stop by here every now and again
  14. Down here in Australia, in the major football codes (AFL, Rugby League), there are some measure to ensure that all clubs get a fair go throughout the season. The salary cap to each of the clubs ensures that the clubs do not finish in the same position year after year. At least that way, particular clubs dont finish at the bottom year after year and they have a chance to improve their position from season to season.
  15. Wow, the 2001 snapshot is a long way from today's community & free hosting site. The 2001 snapshot is pretty much the standard of personal sites those days, and I'm guessing it was used as a site for linking to other sites prior to the hosting service residing at this address today. The 2004 site aint bad, which would be up to the standards of some of the normal blogs found on many sites, but again depending on the host/CMS of the blog, those blogs may be slightly better than the 2004 layout.Xisto has indeed gone a long way for the better! Keep it up, and it would be interesting to look back at the current format today in about 5- 10 years.
  16. Even 1gb seems enough for me, and the most I get in regard to attachment is at least 5mb (usually funnies or powerpoint presentations) being passed around by mates and so forth.
  17. Someone that raises from a struggling position, had many knock backs to rise to a high & powerful position (acquired through the proper channels and in good faith), and will do more for the country. But unfortunately in some cases, even those that may get the position in good faith may go on to be well "bad news", like the case is in Zimbabwe where "apparent" reverse racism is being done in the case of farmers.
  18. True in regard to Religion is wisdom, but there are many variations of it out there, it can seem somewhat difficult to the average joe to choose which one to even believe!
  19. Ok, I'm definitely not a maths wiz... but even from a simple view it doesnt really look right at all... it's just like saying 1+1 = window... or even some weird formation of a 3.
  20. Probably depends on situation and/or person. As others said, it's think before you act, examples being is that a person can be good at Taekwondo, etc. But most of them would only use the moves in defensive situations.. ie a friend of theirs being beaten and they use it to stop the fight and/or fend them off as a last resort.
  21. Esp with drugs & so forth.. (the prescribed ones) ordered by the docs and so forth. It seems that things like science does effect things that happen in the world today, esp with the earlier proposal of flouridated water in some areas (which since has been rejected).
  22. Probably a media-grabbing exercise. Theres been some cases of controversial situations for multi-national companies leading to increased sales and so forth, and there has been other situations where it either doesnt change or goes down (either slightly or major).
  23. Happy Birthday mate, and have a good one and enjoy yaself (if ya partying later on)... just don't eat that brown stuff!
  24. Thats a lot of credits! give us some .. jks. Anyway, welcome back and looking forward to seeing your website up soon.
  25. Australia.Probably have to rate it 7.5 out of 10.Living standards are pretty good, laid back, a bit spread out (ie most houses have backyards), easy going, even the capital cities (ie Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne) are fairly livable. As for the CONs, probably have to say the recent Cronulla Beach situation in regard to the middle east has tainted things a bit, although both parties involved are just as guilty, and probably the on-going politics.. (Labour & National-Liberal coalition) and no other decent alternative.
