I seriously didn't get this result using your exact instructions. When I "Add Noise", out pops one of those television fuzzy images. I only got the rain effect through motion blur afterwards. Do you know possibly what went wrong? Thanks in advance.

A family member of mine uses Internet Download Manager (though you have to buy it after a one month trial period), I think it's pretty good, really speeds up downloads.

I'm Looking For A Free Virus Scanner spyware and virus protector
Vue replied to marmaduke29's topic in Software
I use Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spybot and AVG together. I can not comment on how good they are, however. -
For a "noob", I think FrontPage would do OK. But for a perfectionist beyound that, one would have to use Dreamweaver. When I first started using it, it was pretty complicating, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Hello! (No, I am not necroposting deliberately.) Hello "T", even though I'm younger than you, I think I can help you out with Vietnamese if you want. (Parents are often bad teachers haha.) Wow, you seem to love games. Ahhh I don't seem to understand anything. Ahhh you probably won't even read my reply, but anyway, good luck with accustoming yourself to Xisto!

Yes, I use AVG. It's a bit annoying because every time I open my laptop, out pops the updater. ;___; I don't know whether it's good or not because well, I am not an IT professional.

Any Active & Regular Vietnamese Member At Astahost ?
Vue replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in General Discussion
WEEE YES! I AM VIETNAMESE! Awww, I thought you were too. Anyway, go ahead and ask me anything. I'm fluent in both languages but err...I was not born in Vietnam. Good luck with learning Vietnamese! EDIT: I might never return to this topic/post, so please PM me instead. -
Haha poor you velma, getting attacked bombarded with rebuttals. x) I understand that this is a sick issue, but it's one that has to be targeted and eliminated! I find there to be no heroism in it. What do they want to prove? *Sings the Black Eyed Peas song* But the thing is, ultimately, to choose good friends and be a grandma like me and not go to random parties.

Well, I'm like you, only that I'm not as bothered. I use a bunch of freeware programs like Spybot, Ad-Aware SE Personal & AVG. I suppose reformatting one's computer yearly would do well. When I reformat, my C drive is cleared, but not my other drives, so I store my files in those drives. USB storage is super cheap these days so I suppose it's a must.

MySpace This one has been long awaited
Vue replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in General Discussion
Argh I absolutely hate MySpace! I hate how it's not that good yet every bloody celebrity is logging on and using MySpace rather than first promoting an official website. It has an ugly interface and customising it is extremely hard, you'd have to be super to be able to do so. And I say so because many "layout designers" base their designs on others'. I can't imagine ALL of these "layout designers" doing things from scratch. It's not MySpace's fault, but due to its popularity, yes, I agree with you guys on how it attracts unwanted criminals. -
I agree with saint-michael about the splash page. (Yes, I have found a person with the same opinion!) The layout looks pretty good compared to the splash page, actually. I think that you should drop one of the confusing boxes and write an "about" paragraph on your website so that lost people like me can understand what the website is about. Alternatively, you could do so in a fresh new page. Personally, I don't like black as one's background because visitors are accustomed to reading text darker than the background. Well, good luck with your site!

I like the idea of your layout! It's very different to the designs I see these days. On initial loading, the images load pretty slowly. Maybe it's due to the slicing, or the file sizes, I wouldn't know. Try to optimise it a little. Instead of iFrames, you could use div layers instead. I'm pretty sure you can still use scrollbars with div layers. Well, good luck with your design!

Kalaalog - About The Arts Blog site review please
Vue replied to Vyoma's topic in General Discussion
Wow your site is very "clean". The thing I like about your blog is how you use images here and there to spice things up/gain visitor attention. Only criticism? Your latest post, the one on the wallpaper, might frighten young children or anger parents. But I doubt that would happen. Often you post very formerly, I guess it's a good thing, but maybe it's because the majority of bloggers post their emotions deliriously. Well, good luck with your site! -
Photoshop Tutorial: Basic Facial Photo-manipulation
Vue replied to pyost's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Hmm nice tut! But I think if you used the dodge tool to drag bits of hair out, it would look more natural. -
Ooh same here, I'm deciding on making a portfolio as well! The idea of a Flash scrollbar seems good to me. But may I ask, how would you go back and edit it without Flash? (I'm no pro in Flash.) What I'm using is "Lightbox" which has a nice look to it. And it's easily edited w/o the use of specific programs. Eh yes, it doesn't come that close to a "gallery". Perhaps you could include the tools/programs you used. Oh and to make it different hmm...you could give it a "jigsaw" feel, a scrapbook feel, a technological portal feel, what the heck...it's up to you to decide. Be creative! :)Good luck!

Well, foolakadugie above me has pretty much explained everything. But when you say: I think I might hold an answer. A program that's a bit suckier than GIMP that I know of, for free, is Paint.NET. Of course, if you don't mind the price, buying Adobe Photoshop CS2 (or 7.0 is OK too) would be much better. Tutorials? Well after you've had enough experience, the rest is up to you. That is why most photo-manipulators' works look rather different.
-
Oh hey, my friend told me about this program called "Paint.NET", I think it's pretty easy to use but then it doesn't come with many features. Of course, Photoshop is the best. But I think if I had it mysteriously stolen from me, I'd switch to Paint.NET. G/L with finding a good paint program!

Hello! Wow that looks great. The second one, I mean. But then you would have to think about the different screen sizes out there. [being obsessive] Also, I question why we need splash pages. What purpose does it serve? [/being obsessive]
