  1. Ahh that's reassuring; because sometimes I find the "Save for Web..." method ended up with larger file sizes. But as you said, it is much easier to use "Save for Web...".
  2. I remember being able to use subtitle files with VLC media player. But I'm not sure if it works as well as the DirectShow filter you're talking about.
  3. Oh man that is awesome! :)Wow 663 sites...a lot. I can't believe, though, that most of them are offline. My site is 104th (with nothing on it hehe). May I ask what determines the rank/order of a site?
  4. I've never tried Vista before (except for mucking around with those at the shops), but I can say the following through reading magazines:Pros: Spiffy look; Alt+Tab thingomobby that swivels through windows; Vista's requirement/suggestion for decent RAM and storage; the limitations on cheaper versions of Vista (never buy Basic!). Cons: The bugs? (People have talked about the bugs, but I would think that there are less in Vista compared to XP); "Allow/deny" (Mac advertisement on TV haha). That's all I can think of, despite never trying Vista before (hopefully I didn't get anything wrong).
  5. Yep, what foolakadugie said (damn foolakadugie knows so much!). And I think by... you wanted to say .png I don't usually go to "Save for Web...", I just lower the quality. But I suppose that I am doing it wrong.

    New Here

Hello! Hmm...I will try to watch Elfen Lied one day. One day. And who knows when that'll be. Your site is nice, but perhaps you could add pictures (I dunno, I'm a picture's person haha). I agree with you about the ads though! Good luck!
  7. I'm not sure, but I read somewhere that the instance you post, then your site will be immediately activated (automatic). That's awfully strange about how you currently have over 10 credits!
  8. Wow that's a lot. Congrats! But I think I'd die before I'd be able to get to that many posts! @__@
  9. Ah thanks Jimmy. (Oh and I see you're from Australia too!) I like how you concluded haha. Hmm you're very good reassurance, but don't you think the "lifespan" of the router might get shortened? I'm not sure myself. Thanks again.
  10. Thank you for replying very much, you included something I forgot (which is really obvious hahaha) about the amount of colours in particular areas of the image. However, isn't it the responsibility of the webmaster to make sure that the website loads reasonably? Because not everybody has speedy broadband. Haha sorry, I feel like my head's set to "debate" mode. Thank you again for your reply.
  11. Hello there. For this "experiment" of mine, images were saved along the exact following: Save for Web... Select .GIF * I used the Google (Australia) logo. I randomly used the slice tool and ended up with 8 slices. The files added up to 29.7 KB. * Then I used the slice tool again to slice the image into...one slice. This image added up to 7.29 KB. (With defaults settings for "Save for Web..." under .GIF when saving for BOTH.) Oh and go ahead and rebut my claims. This topic is open for discussion! I think I poorly did this experiment, so hopefully someone can try it. Further: * Image slicing is not necessary for image maps. * http://www.yoursite.nu/?id=274 * (I've read somewhere that it is also not necessary to slice images for link rollovers, hopefully the pros at Xisto can help me haha)
  12. Haha my "deadly secret"? With all its might, Wordpress! It seems easy to use, but then in the latest version they dropped the WYSIWYG editor. Or maybe I did. But I'm sure they did. Switching between themes is easy, but implementing changes (as in customising) is a bit messy. Wordpress is based around blogging compared to other CMS, so I suppose there's an alternative...like Joomla, for others. I've never used Joomla but did use Mambo. Mambo was good, I like the interface, but then customising the layouts was really hard, let alone creating one of my own and Mambo...lacked back-up.
  13. I like Photoshop, of course, the most. I'm using version 7.0, pretty old, but when switching to the newer versions, I find there to be little differences. If you can't afford Photoshop, I recommend Paint.NET. The interface seems more similar to Photoshop than The Gimp to me.
  14. Hello guys! I feel like getting into a "Myth Buster" mood. There are always so many myths and things surrounding computers/the Internet/science technology. My uncle leaves his router on 24/7 and my mum suggests we let our router "rest" when it's not in use. Because I am unsure of who is right, I'll ask you guys. Is there any harm in leaving the router on 24/7 or at least when it's not in use? Thanks in advance.
  15. Time actually spent working on homework for me is usually 2 hours. But of course, I drag it along and visit sites that I don't need to. Damn me.
  16. I have to say that...I spend roughly most of my waking hours in front of the computer. Minus my studying time, eating time, etc. I almost always get migraines. And I don't exercise. Damn I sound like a psycho. I think that the "posting to keep site alive" idea is pretty hazardous. It really feeds computer addictions. We are really killing away our living years. I understand that we are indeed looking for free hosting, but I think that we should receive more mercy. Xisto is still great, nevertheless.
  17. I agree with you, but must also say that the iPod Shuffle is pretty cheap. I disagree with you about giving up the screen. I mean, the normal iPod's screen breaks super easily. Lazy people like me, though you ridicule us, quite enjoy simply turning our music players and expecting something new.
  18. I haven't tried Microsoft Windows Live OneCare yet, but I have read about it in PC User Australia (May 2007 edition). Oh boy, this will take long to type . . . (All credits to PC User Australia.) Despite with what I said before, I trust that the magazine was right to say the above. I have to say that it is quite cheap compared to the leading security thingomobobbies.
  19. Ah I think you should mention how "Determininh" fits into the picture or what the word is. If you were targeting immigrants, I'd look to simple words...* Borrow money * Missouri money * etc. Alternatively, you could ask the business about the ethnicity of its customers. Then you could get "Englishied" versions of the common words that their customers use. This seems hard to explain, but I hope you get where I'm leading to...Good luck. :ph34r:EDIT: Oh damn. I think I misinterpreted "Determininh" as a company name. ;____;
  20. And that is why I use http://www.freeimages.com/ instead. I don't know the conditions of which I am allowed to use its images, but it sounds "safer" to me. Stock photography rules/laws seem somewhat blurry/blunt to me. =[
  21. I voted MAC because yes indeedy, I am a weirdo. People talk about the Vista having security holes and bugs...but being the aftermath of Windows XP, I would really think that it's better than Windows XP. Mac was around before Windows. Mac dominated. I still think that Mac's good. I would think that the only reason why Mac isn't popular is because of its lack of universal compatibility. And because it isn't popular, it is expensive. And because it is expensive, many people like myself refuse to buy it. (By the way, I don't think anybody realised that our friend misspelled which as witch hehehehe.)
  22. I don't even know where this word is used, but I say "charr". Seems logical to me. Or maybe it's because my mother language surrounds the basis of "read what you see".
  23. I read in PC User Australia (a magazine) that Blu-ray was there (apart from the obvious customer benefits) because it had some sort of encryption on that prevented people from copying discs. = Benefit to Hollywood. Sure enough, the magazine revealed that those across the globe had found out ways to copy these discs despite the encryption method. So, they're all suckers. And we get to benefit from better quality movies too. What sucks is that we have to buy new players to play these discs. The magazine I read that users will decide for themselves on which one is better and years later...one will die out. And I'll wait until one dies out.
  24. Hello there! With FTP, you upload your folder to /wp-content/themes. In your Wordpress dashboard, you go Presentation and voila! You will then select theme you want. Personally, I would do select the theme, see what I want to change to it, and do so offline. Then re-upload the folder. Simple, eh? Wait, no, not that simple but the simple thing is switching between themes.
  25. (I think you should've edited your previous post rather than post a new one with your other sigs.) And no doubt, these are great. I can't criticise you because vectoring is beyond my ability. However, I have to say that, being a girl, one likes things more aerie faerie.
