  1. Ah thanks very much. I think that now I know the proper terminology for it (i.e. DDOS attacks) then it would be easier to prevent. Anyway, I found this website https://staff.washington.edu/dittrich/misc/ddos/ about DDOS attacks. Is anybody the judge of its worth? Thanks again.
  2. Hello guys. Recently, my dad's website has been experiencing problems. You see, he has one of these political websites so he gets a lot of hacking attempts from communist Internet "police". I'm not sure of the CMS, but I know that it utilises Tiny MCE (which so far I think is something related to WYSIWYG editing). He usually only 30 online visitors at any one time, but just recently, he noticed there to be around 300 visitors. Definitely those "flooders". What the communist Internet police have tried to do a lot to the website was flood it with many many hits. The problem's been resolved by another member of the site's admin, but I'm unsure how they did so. Ah, and I can not give the link to this website due to identity issues. So...if in the future, what should be done? Do any of you guys know of some sort of script, plug-in...basically anything that can deter sucking up bandwidth?
  3. ...but then doing something like this would result in a very typical site name. I've known of such websites that usually don't end up lasting for more than a year. But thanks anyway. I've seen similar "site namer"s posted on pixel doll websites back a few years ago.
  4. Wow thank you so much. I think that these would help in the educational field. We should banish copyrighted material and I guess...be more creative? I mean, you wouldn't die if your website visitors didn't listen to music... But still, this is a very blunt topic with and seems to be somewhat inconclusive.
  5. Communists are evil. Evil. Evil. Period. The government is publicising this because really, porn is immoral and although it acted too harshly, it's not doing anything that the rest of the world can stop. Whereas when someone posts content against the Chinese government, they would receive something like that, only that it wouldn't be as publicised.
  6. ROFL! What a perfect example of an abusing website. The thing that I find dead funny is the bit on the top which says: This page is so funny that you would've though they went right out there to break the aesthetic rules of webpages. Hahhahaa. I think there would be no point pointing out the errors as there are a milliard! Kakakaaa.
  7. I personally wouldn't think that this would be a good thing. I mean, wouldn't that mean that Dell would be saving money and making more profits by not installing Windows and substituting for Ubuntu (which is for free)? (Damn that question had too many clauses.) Would software that were originally designed for Windows (e.g. Photoshop) still work on Ubuntu? Unless of course they're going to make the PC dirt cheap then it's okay.
  8. I'm so sorry, I won't be taking part. Without thinking, I let by laptop hibernate and gave it to my dad to borrow. He turned it off instead of hibernating so my works are lost. I can't start new graphics because I have a lot of homework to do. And of course...it's my fault for not saving them!
  9. I tried all of the above that involed using right-click with a combination of something else. Didn't work. Besides, why would I want to copy? Disabling right-click is stupid anyway. If works were that "precious" then they would have watermarks splashed all over them. Disaling right-click, I would think, only makes a visitor more obliged to copy the content. Oh okay, I'll contradict myself. Again. File > Save Page As... or Ctrl+S lets you save the images, javascript, HTML page, etc...basically everything. (Or so I think.)
  10. Hehe I think you forgot about the topic starter. (Wait, you said man. Stupid me.) I still think that there are more benefits than losses of turning one's router off after use. And I agree with the others about how there's usually no "off" switch.
  11. I would estimate...70 wpm. At fastest. Which makes me pretty slow considering how fast you guys are. ;___;
  12. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Google 9/10. Why? * We can't "flick" through cached page history. (Okay, that sounds too advanced.) * Google is easy to use, yes, but should be optimised to something like the front page of http://de.alamy.com/. * The colour scheme looks a tad boring. * Can't customised it. (Again, this a tad too advanced also.) That's about it...because it's just about perfect.
  13. Before I go rambling on, here is the article (I watched it on the news numerous times before): - Masters, Clare. "Eight Seconds Key to Weight Loss." NEWS.com.au (2007): 1. 25 Apr. 2007 <http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;. Interesting, no? Well, personally I can't tell you whether I've lost weight because I'm not overweight. So for the lazy people who didn't read the entire article, what you do is: Sprint for eight seconds (1) Go slow for 12 seconds (2) Do (1) and (2) continuously for 20 minutes. Understood? Also, you have to do it three times a week. I remember on TV how one of the "guinea pig" women said that she still "dunked her donuts" (referring to that she still ate her typical food) and still lost weight. Also, the researches trialled using stationary bikes, but they suggested that any other sporting activity would work well too. In the long term, if this works out for you, remember that Vue from Xisto helped you. (If it works so well that you did indeed lose weight, I am happy to accept Xisto points. With open arms. Tee-hee.) And if it doesn't, I will run away helplessly. (^ Oh yeah and "Burn fat x 3" and "Lose fat from thighs/buttocks" are not made up. Yes, I know I make corny topic titles and topic descriptions.) Ah...good luck? Tell me how it goes.
  14. Ahhh it's the 25th of April. You said that you might extend the deadline to the 30th. This would be such a good "design challenge"! I'm going to enter. But not now. You know why? These are so good. There's a few too many specifications so I will leave it to a later date. (Okay, I am just procrastinating the fact that I have a lot of homework.)
  15. This sounds like a decent host, but the only downside (in my eyes) is the PHP. A lot of people need PHP for PHP includes, so that they don't have to go back over each page to edit minor changes, or a layout change. Thanks for the link, anyway.
  16. Hehehhe I think that everybody knows that "Bravehost Hosting Is Not The Way To Go". Bravehost was my first host. Yes, everyone knows the bad things about Bravehost, but I have to say that it did have some good features as well. It was very easy to use. But then, it was full-on with ads for me so I switched.
  17. Ah damn this is giving me too much shock. =[ Well, no. I don't believe in all of them. Or any of those you listed. Is God not a deity? After all, definition number 3 says a deity, not all deities.
  18. I think you mean "The Women Suffer". It's a tad hard to grasp the whole post; because of the slightly long sentences. I get you, but like Nybb said, in other parts of the world, women do not suffer. In some parts of the world, sometimes even men suffer (woooottttt).
  19. Ah thanks for clearing that up. I'm not sure, but I remember a school teacher saying that we could pray to Mary. But I remember also, that we could pray to just about anybody we wanted in prayer. I mean, I can't imagine one saying the "Our Father" in prayer through to Mary. Hmmm this is confusing.
  20. That is why I say...don't bet at all. No need to blabber. It's hard to deal with gambling addicts. It's easier to prevent people from becoming gambling addicts. I have known of a man who, because of gambling, stole money from a relative of mine. The man said that it was for "other issues". Hmm...gamblers are good liars too, I suppose.
  21. Oh damn that's scary; I mean in Australia, at least guns aren't legal. What you have to do is...be in no gangs. x) Always think in your head "I don't to start any arguments", "I want to be academic!" or "I want to be a saint!". (Yes, I know I am bizarre.) I'm sure not everyone's in a gang around your area. Look to those people. Even if they're a nerd or are unpopular. Just so long as they are nice. Being a girl, there's less of this peer pressure stuff for me. Of course, if you wanted to do things the other way (in which case you would be bashed pretty easily, but the best outcome is great)...you could tell them all to wake up. Tell them there's more to life than just gangs. There's one's studies, family and friends, but most importantly, one's life. Ahah, yes I know, I sound like I'm patronising things. Good luck.
  22. I hope you don't mind if I ask...what is a "third culture kid"? It's funny how you described your ah...encounter...outside 7-11. The beggar (?) person sounds strange. Well, in Vietnam, they pull your garments and beg you to give them money. You run and of course they can't chase after you because their arms and legs are partially crippled. In developed countries, one would look down on beggars. But in developed countries/regions...I wouldn't know. Yes, I know they are poor, whether they like it or not. But I remember some people talking about the encounters they had (similar to yours)...I forgot the reaction or reasoning they had about beggars, but I remember a lot of people concluding that they wouldn't give money to every beggar they see.
  23. Oh hey, Velma! (Remember me?) It's a bit hard to get the idea of what you are trying to say...because the sentences are pretty long. x( If my partner did this to me (in which case I wouldn't even have a partner), then I would consider him weird. My guess is that you are from the US...I can't imagine some dude leaving a girl...then living in the forest. Especially in the US. I think it would be good if you provided more background information. Anyway, you should offer reassurance to your friend and help her when she is in need.
  24. Ah nice post. x) (However, my head's in "debate" mode!) What is a deity? A deity is a "god or goddess", a "divine state" or "somebody or something resembling god". (Quotes used to reference dictionary meaning - Encarta Dictionary Tools.) I agree with #3 entirely except for . I myself believe in God. Therefore there is no absence of belief in a deity in me. And therefore I am not an Atheist with the definition of number 3. So therefore, if I can be seen as not an Atheist with the definition of number 3, then not everyone can be seen as an Atheist with the definition of number 3, that is, . Boy, I hope I didn't get it wrong. x)
  25. Hmmm that was long. Out of all the posts, I must say I liked the first one the most (simple and easy to understand). Ooh-hoo this comes in handy...right this moment...because I am developing a webpage right now. Thanks.
