Need Your Views On This Laptop With The Following Specs ASAP
borlafu replied to CaptainRon's topic in Hardware Workshop
I have a similar laptop.I'd try to shift RAM up to 1GB if you want a good gaming performance.Mine has Radeon Xpress200M, wich is less powerful than that nVidia one, eventhough I can play many games fluently. That processor will usually work on 800MHz for energy saving, it will automatically switch to 1,6 or 2.0 GHz depending on it's needs. When gaming it may be at 2.0GHz full time, so you should be plugged to AC if you want to play for more than 30 minutes hehehe -

Wireless Networking Components Whats better?
borlafu replied to jimmy89's topic in Computer Networks
I think the best option is to try out some models and keep the one with the best performance... the interface doesn't really matter unless your computer uses USB 1.1 in stead of USB 2.0... -

I don't think this is about human curiosity... The aim of this project is to find better numerical algorithms and to find where the limits of computer calculus is. Maybe this problem has no direct or tangible objective, but it's a simple problem that makes cientists innovate and investigate to find tools to make easyer other tasks. -

borlafu replied to Levis's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't know it for sure, but I think that the <embed/> tag is not valid in any xhtml. EDIT: Actualy, take a look to the results of your code al the W3C Validator: <?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xmlns="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>Test</title> </head> <body><p><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="794" height="128" title="Geek From the Forest"> <param name="movie" value="/flash/logo/logo.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="/flash/logo/logo.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/special/errorpages/404.html; type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="794" height="128"></embed></object></p></body></html> Input that here: http://validator.w3.org/ There you can see where errors occur. -
I automatically updated it yesterday on my other PC. When I saw this I wanted to know if this PC was already updated, so I clicked "Help" menu to see the "About" info and in the drop down menu it already said it was updating right now hehehehe, a little coincidence

Visual Basic is "event oriented", it should work every time you want using the code before. Maybe you don't finish the event handler correctly so it cannot start another event.

Transferring Large Files Online Any suggestions/tips?
borlafu replied to everydaysushi's topic in Websites and Web Designing
You can also use Megaupload, they allow files up to 500MB and they have a very good bandwidth. The only problem is that when you want to download it you have to wait for a minute and then the download starts. -
Excellent explanation Cheeso.Of course everything around people affects their behaviour, as spanish philosopher Ortega y Gasset said: "I am myself and my circumstances".Anyway everyone has his own criteria to differ between good and evil, and act in concordance. That's why they set a minimal age to play cercain games. It's not just to avoid kids who are not intellectually ready to understand that it's a game, not real life, to play that game. Of course it's an aproaxal, intellect cannot be mesured by age, but that's where parent have to do their job and if they think that game isn't appropiate for their son, don't buy it.PD: Sorry for my english :S

Maybe for a good stability you should use Ubuntu. I realy like that distro, It has changed the concept of many people about Linux. It has a very good support and it's got very easy interfaces for almost any task you should do.Anyway if you are a more experienced user you may like fedora or gentoo.

New Worm Spreading Through Skype
borlafu replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't like skype, anyway, when I use it is just for making calls. I don't keep it on to receive calls.Anyway it's a bit stupid to prompt the user to download a file wich is not trusted... I shouldn't be a problem for experienced users. -

I agree with XIII, microsoft will never admit this kind of security issues if they can. Anyway they may be working harder in security for Windows Vista. In some way Windows has so many security leaks becouse there are many people trying to find them out. If nobody tryes to find bugs they will never be known...
-
I supose that vista can disable some features so it can run in a "minimal recommended machine" but anyway every simple PC with Vista running on it that I've seen was using at least 700MB of RAM. On a presentation of Vista they were running it on an Athlon64 x2 3600+ w/1GB RAM and it worked fine.... but thats not the recommended PC at all!!
