BuffaloHELP, sorry bout that. So, by summiting a general question to Xisto - Support , do you mean summit this question regarding credit page or summiting question as in purchasing the credit directly via Xisto - Support?Sorry for reposting this topic, I really couldn't find the previous one even though I've read it once, and the previous one as I last remember never mention about the credit page problem. It only highlighted the possibility to purchase. But as you know, things change from time to time, so need to keep that updated, and repost the question.Anyway, the search page also quite hard to find anything useful. I think in the search result page, it should at least highlight which page is the result found, imagine if the page I was looking for has 10 or more pages, it's waste of bandwidth for Xisto to let us load every single page, and also, after page 3 or so, we probably gave up already.Well, just some comment, all and all, I still like Xisto, and I think it's still one of the the best hosting and forum I've been to. Good work guys, and continue the effort, if possible, include my suggestion

Diy Fan Controller Creative Custom cooling control solution
faulty.lee replied to mirdux's topic in Hardware Workshop
You can simply put a variable resistor inline just like that, it's not efficient, it it might just burn out the variable resister when you turn it to the mid range. An off the shelf speed controller are normally using PWM(Pulse Width Modulation). It's much more efficient. When you use a variable resistor inline, you're actually absorbing port of the power and waste it at the variable resister. If the fan is 2 Watt, when you turn to the mid range, it's when most power is dissipated through the variable resistor, that's 1W. It might be small, but most variable resistor can't withstand that much of power transfer. Also, the speed control using variable resistor is not linear, assuming you use a high wattage one, or using rheostat. Meaning when you turn to 10%, it's not running at 10% of the fullspeed. Another issue is that, it might not be able to start the fan at 10% or so set point. You might have to turn to 30% or more depending on the type fan you're using and it's current consumption. Then turn down to achieve slower speed. With that you'll also risk having the fan stall and stop moving, and your system heated up. Another thing is, if you use the built in fan speed monitor on the motherboard, you'll have to set the fan speed alarm everytime you change your fan speed, or you're only left with the option of the lowest, which is 1000rpm, normally. That also reduce your chance of detecting if the fan is dying or not. Image if you're fan is built for 4000rpm, and you can set the alarm at 3000rpm. If it hit the alarm, you know that your fan is full of dust and not running well, or it's dying. -
Good job on the new credit system. Really nice interface you have there. I wonder if you're using the same backend as the forum system? If so, are you doing to change the theme for the forum as well? ^_^Btw, I notice some bug here at the new credit page. My credit is -7.45 shown at the index, but it's -3.45 shown at the credit page. I've checked twice. 4 point diff. Any reason for that?

I was trying to checkout the Purchase Credits section, today, and found a dead end to 404. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/572-mycents/ I was using the link from the menu above -> Credits\Purchase Credits Need to buy some credit, I'm really busy lately with my work, not much time to keep track of post. Btw, I have a question here too. I seems that if I'm inactive for a while, like not posting for a few days, the email alert for new post will not come anymore. Is it a feature or a bug?

I would also recommend Comodo. Especially the latest version 3. It's really good. Plus it comes with Defense+, more like a anti-virus/spyware thing. It detect suspicious activity from application that run. It helped me prevented a few incident from those file I downloaded off p2p network. The antivirus I use never complaint about the problem, lucky Comodo save my day.

I really hate ppl doing that all the time. It's not about copying, it's the fact that they simply post anything just to get a free hosting, without understanding the actually meaning behind all this. They can get their hosting off the ground quite easily, but later to keep posting to maintain the point, they'll be in pain. Then will start to wine and complaint about the system.I don't expect everyone to really understand, but at least try to. Don't do it blindly

You should look into superheating as well. It's very interesting. And it's actually very dangerous for microwave oven user, which most manufacturer fail to indicated that boiling water using microwave oven is that harmful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superheating Quite similar to supercooling, but in opposite direction. I wonder if there's anymore other super_______ (fill in the blanks) exist? Maybe should change the title of this topic and add more info here .

I think it's easier if you export then import the database into a new database. That can also overcome some flaws in the access 97. Another way is to add the old database into ODBC, then use access 2003 to open it, then duplicate/copy the table into the new database. You can then setup the permission manually.

Hehe, must have been an implementation problem, or lazy programmer, just assuming everyone's screen size is 800x600.
-
alert(screen.width);if ((screen.width == 800)){ document.write(text[Math.floor(Math.random() * text.length)]);} You can try the above code and see what did it show in the message box. Alternatively, if you're using firefox, you can try to install firebug extension. It will ease you on debugging the problem. http://getfirebug.com/ You can even type in code like "screen.width" in the console and have the result return to you straight away. Must have for web developer

nForce chipset is a good choice. The 780 is the latest performer. But I would recommend you to go for slightly for popular brand like ASUS, Abit, Gigabyte and so on. Maybe EVGA is popular in your place, but I've never heard of it. If it's popular then it's ok. For high performance motherboard, it's a bit tricky to get it to work properly sometime. If it's less popular, you might not get BIOS update as often as those well known brand. Sometime you just need it to solve some hardware incompatibility. Considering the rate of technological advances these days. Other than that, the rest of the specs looks good. Hope you'll enjoy your new Rig

I think it's not possible for comodo to include that, or at least it's too complicated to include that. Imagine, for windows file sharing, you would want to enable it for LAN but disable for WAN(public) right. So, similar to windows firewall, you would block windows file sharing, but have an exception at LAN. But in comodo, how would you want it? Park the exception under the setting for windows file sharing? Or under network setting for LAN? The windows firewall doesn't offer much control or configuration, but for comodo, it does. Thus having this kind of option will make it very complicated to configure. Not many user would know how to go about it.

Grafitti, I've got one from eMule, version 3.0. Another one still waiting to finish, version 4.52, quite slow. I'll PM you the url for the version 3. Btw, I'm still uploading, so try after an hour time.Let me knows if it works. Good Luck

I've got the new Comodo Pro 3. Very interesting feature set. And there's performance improvement compare to the previous version, considering many features that's added into this version. Too bad though, it didn't migrate my firewall settings over to the new version when I updated it, via it's own auto update. Maybe due to the difference in architecture. Now have to setup for most of the application I work with. I'm a hardware and software programmer, so the number of software I use is quite a lot, having to do all that again, sigh ;(The new Defense+ is also quite good. Works more like a virus cum spyware protector. Not a full fledge antivirus or anti spyware, but i think it helps to prevent damaging result from those program that we download from the net. It doesn't need to check against the virus pattern for known virus, rather, it's based on behavior. Being so, it also trigger quite a few false alarm. Well, better to be safe then sorry. As an overall, I'm quite happy with it so far. Haven't got a need to end task it due to high cpu utilization.Highly recomended

Let me see if I could get a copy from my IT friend here, or from P2P network.
-
Well, i think they just updated lately. Lately I receive one email telling me that my account is suspended when it happen. At least some improvement. Better to know first rather than having the web user to inform us,

You'll need a do loop, as shown in the link posted by turbopowerdmaxsteel. A While loop will need a variable, such as a boolean to be checked every loop. You'll have to exit the loop by changing the variable to false. As for Do loop, you just need to call Exit Do when the condition match what you want.

I've always find the Acer website useless. Never be able to find anything I need. From what I gather online, it seems that you can't download Acer Arcade directly from Acer's website. Maybe it's easier to get it from the guy who sell you the notebook, or ask him to burn you a copy.

You can try sending through a working SMTP server, say, your existing SMTP server for your normal email provider. That way, you can eliminate the problem which might be caused by the server itself

Issues With Accessing The Internet web addresses vs. ip addresses
faulty.lee replied to Grafitti's topic in Computer Networks
Grafitti, that seems unlikely that they can detect the number of users shared through the same internet connection. You're not using any software or window's connection to connect to the internet, right? The Router will connect by itself. A router itself is just another PC. Sharing though a PC will be the same. And there's no way for anyone connected external to the router (including your ISP) to get anything connected inside the router internal LAN, except for what's on the router itself. Sharing multiple PC though a single router, is just as if 1 PC is browsing multiple webpage at the same time, from the point of view of the ISP. Maybe there's a limit to the number of connection you can make. You can try load more than 10 web pages at the same time on the same PC. If it stop working, then maybe your router or your ISP is limiting it. Sharing though a PC will not solve your problem. -
Ya, most SMTP server now require authentication to send email, as a spam prevention feature, but i still receive as much spam or even more nowadays Try add these code mail.Fields.Add("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpauthenticate", "1") 'basic authentication mail.Fields.Add("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/sendusername", "my_username_here") 'set your username here mail.Fields.Add("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/sendpassword", "super_secret") 'set your password here I copied the 3 lines of code from http://www.systemwebmail.com/faq/3.8.aspx I haven't got time to test it out. Give it a try and post the result here. Good Luck

Programming In Vb .net, Vista Compatible ?
faulty.lee replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Programming
Yes, indeed. I was using that to encrypt the license key of my software. It turn out not working, can't get the license key match on one particular client. Later only i found out the difference, as he's still using XP SP1, and most of my other client uses SP2 without problem. I did a test program that tries out all diff type of encryption using the same input to narrow down the right encryption to use for both windows. Now i'm using "RijndaelManaged". So far so good. -
What error message did you get?

N95 is symbian based. Thus it give you more flexibility in terms of application that you can install. In other words, additional functionality is always possible. But, symbian for Nokia is half way in between PocketPC/Palm and a normal phone. So, you can't expect full pda function or flexibility. And also you can't expect very user friendly usage. It's a compromise. I've use S60 series of nokia 6600 and 7610. It's rather old, but it did prove that stability is an issue. 3rd party software can cause some problem if you expect it to be very stable. If you don't install any 3rd party software, then it doesn't serve the purpose to purchase a symbian based one in the first place. As for PDA phone like pocket pc or palm, you'll already expecting stability issue like pc, but you can have flexibility at hand, if that's what you're after. GPS for N95 also isn't that good. First, default GPS software from Nokia has limited maps and location. Secondly, you can't expect much choice of 3rd party GPS software and maps, at least for now and the 6 coming months. Worse if you stay in a less popular township, or even a less popular country. 3rd, most likely you'll have to mount your phone so that it has line of sight to the sky to receive GPS signal, and be portable enough to be taken out when you're not driving. All and all, the built in GPS is not worth the price tag.Anyway, i would always prefer a separate pda and phone, cause in case your pda battery die, you can still make phone call, or if you phone battery dies, you can still get the phonebook from the pda, can call using another phone, or even public phone. You can always have the full functionality at hand, plus stability. If you need to go light at times, just leave the pda at home. But for a pda phone, you'll always have to lug in around, whether you need the pda function or not.
