  1. Starcraft was just awesome. Blizzard did a great job of ripping off GW work and offered a game rich in content and much darker than WC series. Diablo was a great fun as well, but it took no time to run throught the storyline, and endless cow runs, while rewarding, is not something I would call fun. SC provided me with more hours of actual "fun" play, same as WC. WC looses due to atmosphere only.
  2. If you looking for sequels, good examples would be Xenosaga, Devil may Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil series. Basically a game that uses the same characters and advances the plot from one game to the next, while refering to things that happened in the past games. Games that you listed are more like different versions rather than true sequels. RCT v1, v2, v3, etc. They keep everything the same, just add a few new features, not much different from a regular non-game program.Another type of beast would be FF series, where they might change the number, but change games completely and cannot be called versions, while changing plotlines and characters make them not true sequels either.
  3. I'd take PsP for things other than gaming. It is kinda like a gimped laptop, just much smaller, with DVD apabilities. For gaming, I'd use one of my non-prtable systems. Looking at my schedule and lifestyle, I just dont have a need for a portable right now.Pure gaming? Yes, DS so far is much better. If you factor in all the options? I think PsP has a slight edge. Lets not forget that both systems just came out, so lets give them a bit more time to mature before the final verdict. I can see a great potential in a PsP that hasn't been realized yet.
  4. And how is it different from the Poker nights that so many engage in? Wether it is D&D or cards, 1 night/week is nothing. Even when you consider average college lifestyle, I'd think that gaming is no worse than partying/drinking with buds 3-4 nights a week. There are so many ways to waste time, and D&D is probably one of the most harmless ones. Think of it as a night out with 4-5 friends, some booze, and something other than the TV to occupy your attention. Funny, but 4-5 guys spending the time locked inside the same room watching college hoops during March Madness considered "cool", but the same people, locked inside for the same amount of time playing D&D raise questions about their mental state.D&D, WH40k, etc are just a fun way to spend time with your friends, nothing more. It provides a focal point to the evening, people socialize about their daily things, drink beers, order pizzas, listen to music, etc. during those nights the same way as your regular OC party.
  5. This whole thing reminds me of the same situation with the music industry. Looking back, I do not see how it made any difference. Without actually regulating the industry, I dont see any effect those silly politicos would actually have on the average gaming community. Lets face it, the kids will always be able to get their hands on the goods, wether it is next GTA game or the next 50 cent album. Banning questionable games off the shelves, while keeping Hentai DVDs in Sam Goodys? Yeah, that'll fly well with corporate lawers that stand to loose major cash.
  6. There should be a much easier was I think, afterall, files shoudl be stored somewhere on that disk, it is just the matter of finding the program that can do that. I have been told that most PC game contents can be extracted. I dont have any high-end programs to play with though, but would love to hear if anyone had positive results with it.
  7. PC is the king for the simple fact that it is infinetly more customizable and has by far better online play than either console going to have. Yes, you can add a keyboard to them, but it kinda admits that they are a "gimped" PC then PC will always have the best MMORPGs and strategy games for the reason of much better UI and controll scheme than either. Lets not forget about limitations of TV vs newer monitors and graphics cards. Yes, I might spend some cash for next gen TV screens, but that would null the point of affordability. And can anyone really see either console playing WoW, EQ2 - style games with the ease of PC? We've seen what a screw up controlls in FF11 were.PS2 is better for me personally than XBox for the sake of game selection. Backward compatibility was a great touch on part of Sony, ensuring awesome game library at launch. Games make the system, always have. PS2, without argument has the best RPG selection between all consoles, and doesnt dissapoint in other genres as well. The only thing that XBox can really claim is Halo and online play for it and sports games. Since I am not a big fan of sports games, this makes no difference to me, and I'd rather play HL2 or CS on my computer in any case. Graphically I havent seen PS2 being inferior either, at least looking at God of War or FF games.
  8. Keep in mind, it is very easy to come up with updates for controllers, looks and peripherals. It is impossible to come up with the major system upgrade. Thus all the hype about XBox's controllers could be ade null and void by the 3rd party within a few months (if not by Sony itself).
  9. Blizzard did produce quality games and I own all of them. However they did screw the pooch on the WoW release (yes, I still play it as well). It just doesnt seem like the company is geared to work on a large scale projects with any sense of urgency. I will bet that some of the newer MMORPGs that are still in the works will have their first expansion packs earlier than WoW players see theirs. All big gaming behemoths rise and fall, and I have no doubt so will the mighty Blizzard. Anyone remember Origin? One time they were THE gaming company as well. How about SSI? All it takes for Vivendi to decide to shift Blizzard full-time onto WoW, instead of any other projects (and it seems they are slowly doing that), and Blizzard will only last untill the next trend-shift.
  10. All it means that in 10 more years those kids will graduate and make some sick games for me to enjoy :mellow:On a serious note though, i dont i find it any more damaging to the kids to be infront of computer these days versus watching tv all the time 20 years ago (except maybe the fact that kids are now jaded and "seen it all" by age of 11)
  11. I'd rather pick up PS3 just for the reason that I own both XBox and PS2 and find myself looking and a vast collection of PS2 games vs 7 of XBox. Seems PS system is geared towards my interests more. Online play doesnt mean much to me since thats what I have PC for
  12. Still too far ahead to be getting excited about it. Dont forget to add/remove some features from the final release and add another 6-8 months and some patche/service packs to make it usable. In the end, no one right now even knows what exactly is going to be in it. Maybe I am a bit jaded, but seems in line with the previous products
  13. Seems would be useful if you trade movie files in bulk with friends. Thats about it. No way anyone can fill that much space with anything else.
  14. No matter what square-enix may say, I think we will see FFVII remake in a few years for the simple reason = $$. It might cost quite a bit to release a "prettier" version of the game, but it would still be much less than producing a new one from scratch, and you can bet that the re-release would outsell just about any FF game since the original. They did it with anthology, they will do so again with this one. Question is, how much they improve and how much they will add to it?
  15. Fable was fine if you did not listen to the hype, although short. It defenitely had some interesting concepts and delivered fairly well on them. The only problem was the shrotness as far as I see it. Everything else was fine. The biggest problem with the game from RPG standpoint is that I can give a rat's tush for any of the characters in it. This was the main flaw, since story and character interaction/development is supposed to be the strongest point of an RPG.
