  1. Wow! Using the group policy ? Great idea, I'll give it a try. However, this will not help my frieds who have the family Windows edition :(
  2. A couple of years ago, it was possible to stop the update process, and wait a little bit until all the bugs were fixed. Today my system is automatically updated to the next bugged level. And I have to google each bug in order to find a workaround.
  3. Precisely. Not all the available programs are there, and if you don't see "Nero" for example, that does not mean that the software is not installed and ready to be used. The previous Windows versions had a button "all progs" showing all the available softwares, and not only the most probably used ones. For instance I don't know if Skype is installed, skype is not listed in that menu, I ask cortana who shows me there the Skype icon is hidden.
  4. I don't either. However, if you click anywhere in any ap, Microsoft Edge starts. For instance if you click inside the your manufacturer support assistant it opens an edge-like windows and asks your name and password. And with Windows 10 the "programs" menu don't exist any more, so if you want to know if a software (like skype) is already installed on your system, yo have to ask cortana in order to obtain the icon or the software download menu, then you need to be able to use cortana, even if you don't find it useful outside this feature. Precisely. Currently it works fine provided not out a Crosoft box! OK, only two m onths waiting, is that what you mean "not too long" ? Let's see how long your luck lasts !?
  5. OK, there is a workaround for the keyboard problem. Manually start the " ctfmon.exe ", after the keyboard works again for Edge, for cortana and for Microsoft store. So, I simply restart it each time I really need to use edge or cortana.
  6. Waiting for a supposed Windows update which could fix this problem. Let's see how much time I will wait.
  7. Ha-Ha, found a new bug! Also Microsoft Edge has keyboard problems after migrating to Windows 10 1809 ! I cannot type "google.com" in the address bar! So I cannot surf on websites not bookmarked or not suggested by Microsoft ads!
  8. I guess that he feels this as once more a problem after a software update. It's a general quality problem : an update should bring improvement, and not be felt as a regression.
  9. Don't worry, it's not a real problem, and it will probably disappear after the next Windows major Update.
  10. and, yes, cortana is active, activated or not leads to the same effect.
  11. The device manager says "correct". However, maybe it's not a keyboard problem. Some people I google said they solved their problem when taking another mouse. So, mouse and keyboard are not independant ?
  12. Finally I see the difference. I have a keyboard problem. The Cortana search does not work any more, I can click in the "search" box, it says "type your question here", but I cannot type inside the searchbox. Of course I googled a little bit, and the answer was "apply the updates"! However, the problem occurred precisely after applying the update! And I guess it's a USB keyboard driver problem. Unfortunately, today all the keyboards are USB keyboards!
  13. However, it's a good starting point for some newbies. Experienced cookers don't use any recipe, and some of them cannot transmit their know-how, they simply say "I put the necessary sugar the I pour the flour and add milk".
  14. By the way, seems to be a recurrent problem. After a big Windows Update, third party softwares using drivers need to be reinstalled, either the drivers or the software or the firmware.
  15. Seems tasty, looking at the picture!
  16. Ouch! Don't you think that the kitchen princess would also love having somebody cooking for her ?
  17. No, simply there is a penalty in the MyCents system when a topic is removed from the forum due to spamming behavior. People experience negative cents in their final balance.
  18. Not really a shame. Simply, I did not want the grammar police to intrusively come and comment the fact that some posts are not a technical answer to a very technical topic concerning a real irruption of a virtual drive seen as a physical inaccessible device.
  19. No-no-no, not a bug in the forum. Simply, a moderator removed the unfair answer to a post. ?
  20. Glad to know that the problem disappeared wne uninstaling UltraISO. And, yes, Rufus is great for that kind of work. 7zip also does part of the job. However, remember that Windows10 will mount any iso if you happen to double-click on it. However, if this occurs, you will only have to cope with eventual Windows bugs!
  21. I guess that it has something to do with the share. Probably a bad click when the question was first asked "What should I do with shared folder", an iso mounted and then cannot be correctly unmounted because the iso isn't available any more.
  22. No problem with the migration to 1809. Didn't experience the data loss previously mentioned on some forums. I didn't even see the difference, except a noticeable slowdown, probably due to all the new features I don't use but which of course need cpu and network power.
  23. That's the bad thing with windows 10, you cannot easily (and safely) stop the update mechanism.
  24. And Grandma's remedies for lost of memories is ....
