Then again, global warming might not be the sole cause of it. Obviously we contribute towards making this world a warmer place, but an alternative theory i read about once when i was researching this greenhouse effect is that the earth goes through warm cycles, i don't remember how often. not often, but they said there was evidence in the polar icecaps that at least once or twice before it had melted way down, because the earth's global temperature had raised itself. Sort of like a fever. And it does talk about running to the mountains in the bible, but in a different context. I imagine you talking about Matthew 24, with Jesus' predictions of the endtime, where it says to flee to the mountains when the antichrist sets up his image. Or were you meaning a different passage?

It's happened to me many times, where I got suspended because i didn't have any more credits. Not so much now with my cable line, but when i was on dialup and the phones would go dead for a week. I would finally get online and see that i was minus 4 or 5 hosting credits, but at least it seemed to me that Xisto was very generous with those credits needed to get back the hosting. I would get like 2 points for a relatively short post, and only once i was in the clear would i get half a point or a point for the same post length. Was that just my imagination, or does it actually work that way, I don't know.

Photoshop CS2 Opinions? Is it worth the upgrade?
Grafitti replied to chiiyo's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I like CS2 better. I like the warp and vanishing point best, as well as the other new features. I hope to upgrade to CS3 when it comes out, if the company pays for it. -
Ok I tried the McAfee stinger first. It might have worked but i got fed up, after an hour of scanning and it still wasn't finished my C drive of only 160 GB. I didn't bother waiting around for the rest of my drives which would come to another 400 GB. But the AVG free install caught it in 5 minutes, so i must confess there's something AVG can do that NOD32 can't. Glad to be free of it finally.

I'm puzzled as to why one of my computers has caught the RavMonE worm/virus, as i have a fully updated NOD32 running, and have also scanned it with McAfee, Norton, and TrendMicro. Nothing catches it, but it's there. It'll run in the system processes and the antivirus doesn't even recognise it. It propagates to all flashdisks i stick in the computer. It doesn't seem to be that difficult to remove, I disabled system restore, deleted it from windows, stopped it from running, got rid of the startup entry and all references in the registry, and it doesn't reappear when i restart the computer. so far, so good. But now if i take an infected flash disk and stick it in the computer, i'm back to square one, as the virusscan does nothing about it. I've also scanned with Lavasoft Adaware and XSoftSpy, but to no avail. Why doesn't it get caught, and what program can catch it for sure?

For Apple, Final Cut pro is the best there is, and for Windows, if you've got the specs to run it, Premiere Pro is the best non-linear editing program there is. I do find it to be taxing on my system as well (when i'm editing a one-hour video with like 300+ clips, each with transitions and countless layer effects), and i'm running a 3 Ghz P4 with 1GB ram and a 256MB Geforce 7600.There are i think 3 video cards that are specially optimized for Premiere Pro, i don't remember which they are, but anyways they'll run to almost a grand just for the card, and unless you've really got cash to throw around it's not something you'd pick up right away. I do find Premiere Pro 1.5 to be better overall than v2.0, though version 2runs faster and the preview realtime playback can handle higher processing loads without jerking during the transitions, I have problems with getting it to accept non-standard video files. 1.5 would accept almost everything, but this version 2, if the pixel aspect ratio isn't just how it likes, or the sounds isn't encoded just at the correct frequency, it won't import it. So i ended up switching back to 1.5

I use DAP. I don't know where the spyware allegations come in, becasue i've scanned my system with lots of spyware scanners, and never find anything. also, it's 100% spyware/adware free certified. I tried Downthemall, flashget, getright, but for ease of use, speed and inetegration, i find that DAP has been the one I stick with. Especially with the paid version, the extreme acceleration features are nice. I can download at around 50kb/s when using the browser, but i get around 75kb/s when using DAP at extreme acceleration. I guess because it just floods every opening it gets and I have it set to unlimited bandwidth.

You must be running a low P2 or even a Pentium to be having those kind of problems. If you're not going to upgrade your hardware, you should roll back to at least version 7. It might be nice if the CS3 was leaner, but going by every software upgrade today, they're just becoming more feature packed (along with optimizations, which don't mean anything if your computer already had trouble with previous versions), which equates more memory hogging, and higher-end hardware support.

I bought a 10/100 8 port switch for my home network, the previous hub burned out after a couple years. I basically run it 24/7, and with filesharing going on, it's pretty much working nonstop. The adapter (9V, 500MA) burned out after about 6 hours of usage. I thought it could be just an accident, so i bought another adapter, but leaving it overnight resulted in the same thing. it's burned out again. The guy who sold it to me said that i'm not supposed to plug an electrical device that has an adapter built in, into a stabilizer or UPS. That that would make it short out. Is this true? or maybe is there also another explanation for it? like it's a low-quality hub that can't stand up to constant traffic? i really have no idea.

How To Boot To Command Prompt
Grafitti replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Because people expand on the original solution. Plus it's not necessary to switch the computer off right after it formats. he was going to format it anyways with Vista. -
Zonealarm has a junk mail filter that actually catches most of the spam. it's not a good solution though if you have a slow internet connection, as it only deletes them/moves them to your junk mail folder AFTER they're downloaded. so if you want to catch them before they even download, what about mailwasher? Never tried it, but that's what it supposedly does. how about getting a gmail account, and either switching over to it, or forwarding your other email through that. that's what i do, and the gmail spam filter catches over 99% of my spam. of about 100 spam emails that are sent to my address a day, i probably get 3 or 4 that slip through in the course of a month.

How To Boot To Command Prompt

boot from your regular XP cd and open a recovery console. there's your command prompt. -
Yes, when i was talking about gaming not helping in real life, i was mostly referring to arcade games such as need for speed. Gran Turismo, Colin McRae Rally and the like aren't so popular or widely distributed here, whereas everyone plays need for speed, and THAT is hardly realistic. ---It's still my favorite racing game.

I think it does. That only works one way though. Driving for real gives you an edge in computer games, because you're familiar with everything, and it's the same basic concepts. The other way around, it puts you at a disadvantage. Because if you take someone who's only played computer racing simulation and stick them behind the wheel of a car, they're already conditioned to go fast. And real life roads and cars are a lot less forgiving. Camber on the road might help, but there's no way the average car can take a real curve at 100 mph. Throwing the car into oversteer or understeer is also a completely different experience. It's almost too simple to recover from a slide in computer games. Add to that an unexperienced real-life driver, and the combination could prove fatal. That said, I think the fatality/accident rate as i just described above is close to zero. Put bluntly, in theory it'd be a concern, but in reality there aren't that many idiots around who are stupid enough to drive a car the way they race in a game.

No, it's possible. I've done it on a desktop PC. ---but it's running an Intel HT processor. I think AMD was the trouble. Here's the link to the steps i followed to load OSX. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

What Is The Best Size To Make A Background In Photoshop?
Grafitti replied to lonebyrd's topic in Websites and Web Designing
What about a fixed header length of 800 or 1024, which then fades to solid color. that way you have a 1px image to the right of the header, which stretches to 100%. that way anything larger than an 800 monitor will display the color banner, and those that don't have such a big monitor won't notice the difference. -
On my Acer Aspire 5106 with an AMD64 X2 Turion ML-50 processor, is there some reason i shouldn't be able to boot Tiger? I got to the loading screen, but it just sits there, with the drive activity constantly on. The AMD64 chips are supposedly able to run MacOS, so why would it sit there? After about 10 minutes a little "no parking" icon appears on the top of the apple logo.

The exact text shown is: That makes sense @ the domain name setting. The only other problem i had with the IIS/PHP is when i installed php, and IIS refused to render the php test page as html. it would just give me the code in text. So i uninstalled it and installed it again, and this time it seemed to work.

I didn't install Apache, because i had iis on the computer, and from what i read, i should have been able to use that.

I installed PHP, MYSQL, and IPB on my win2000 server on my home network, but i've run into problems and can't figure out what the cause is.If i log in from the server, i can access the forum, browse, add, etc, and admin CP works fine too.if i try to access it from another computer on the network, it loads the index page, but anything i click on gives me a 404 error. if i want to log in to the admin cp over network, it loads the login screen without pictures, and after inputting name/password i get the same error.I probably should get a technician over here to set it up properly, but since they don't have much more of a clue than i do usually, i'd like to be able to point him in the right direction.
