  1. Hi Final, I like your site. I just put the URL in my site-of-the-day-script ("Link des Tages"), so every now and then the link is shown there, and millions and millions of visitors will travel from http://www.hasenschau.de/ to your site. GreetingZ
  2. Hi Final, your site is looking real good! Congratulations! I don't have a credit card either, otherwise I would buy domains in South America. I have heard that there are companies selling .com-domains for 1 US-$ a year. I don't know whether this is true, and sorry ... I know the original title of this thread is "the SMALLEST webserver" and not "the cheapest domain". GreetingZ
  3. I really like http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, but my absolute favorite website is LOCALHOST. Maybe I should try a whois-research on this adress. Ok, but cool in the sense of cool is this Antarctica Webcam ... and another one GreetingZ
  4. Hmmm ... I have absolutely NO idea WHY I should want to turn my beautiful Windows PC into a Mac-like or like-Mac-looking machine. GreetingZ
  5. 15 $ ??? Man, you can almost buy a used Netfinity 5500 for 15 $ !!! She's absolutely right to fight with you. Or what was the domain name? 5500.com ?
  6. Ooooh ... and I hate the bootscreen! The word "Professional" is gone! It always made me feel so good to discover on every system boot that I use the professional version and not the home version. Made me feel like I'm someone special, you know what I'm talking about. And now? No difference in bootscreen anymore, kind of software bolshewism.
  7. Maybe your Internet Information Server is running? ISS comes with the Professional version of Windows XP. Maybe by any reason it's running. Do you have a standalone PC or are you behind a router? Routers must have loopback turned on to show the served pages on your own machine.
  8. At least Tweak UI doesn't have any effect on your system's performance, it does not run in the background, it only gives you the opportunity to configure hidden system settings.
  9. I HATE SP2. It really sucks that Microsoft releases a socalled "Service Pack" and after installing you have more problems than you ever had before. Windows gets slower, and in worser cases you experience network problems and device incompatibitlities. For example Nero CD Burning software needs an update to work with SP2.
  10. I really call one of these my own and I love it! You can get them cheap at ebay, but postage fees will be high of course. When the 5500er came out, it cost more than 8.000 $, it has Dual P III, RAID and hotplug SCSI disks. But before you get one at ebay talk to your girlfriend! She might not feel the same enthusiasm.GreetingZ
  11. I can assure you that yesterday Google performed at least seven searches (mine), but I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
  12. Just play the cool one and act as if you didn't need a job at all.
  13. As far as I understand it, VMWare only says, that it can emulate 64-bit Operating Systems on your machine in the VMWare window. It's pretty cool, did you try to install a 64-bit OS yet? No, I don't think that you can turn a 32-bit CPU into a 64-bit CPU. GreetingZ
  14. I've read that it's not yet clear if people will ever live in New Orleans again. Maybe it will be impossible to build the whole city up again. Perhaps New Orleans is only the first city of a series of "New Atlantis" cities. Nature strikes back.
  15. I agree, Tweak UI really is a necessary tool I think! For a while they had removed the download from their website, I don't know why. Even the old Tweak UI version from Windows 98 runs under XP without problems.
  16. I guess the internet more or less IS the weirdest thing I've ever seen!
  17. Ok, might be cool, but I prefer to have a BIG Server: The one and only IBM Netfinity 5500. Can't be stolen too easy, gives more warmth than an oven and can be used as a safe chair for over-weighted people. Don't need no matchbox
  18. Absolutely right!4. Use a GOOD password for your admin account! Not "root" or "admin" or "susan" or "smith", but something that consists of letters AND numbers, perhaps mixed with some $§&€@-signs. And it is always safer to use a LONG password instead of a short one. A bruteforce attack might hack "susan17" but might need much more time to hack "s1&usanru56lokp34&hajkslwto@4772830hfgw". (just for example)GreetingZ
  19. I've used DamnsSmall Linux several times, and I also think it's really great. They should call it Damn FAST Linux, it runs really fast! For those who are inetrested in small Linux distributions, I would like to recommend PUPPYLINUX, a small distro which is bootable from CD, USB-Stick or harddisk. Check it out! Another very cool small one is BEATRIX GreetingZ
  20. No Flash needed for this great site, an all time classic: 1/circles/circles.html Accept No Substitutes! GreetingZ
  21. Sounds good! I'll try to get the 2.9 Beta version The best Linux distribution is the one that best hits your needs. The best glove ist the one that fits. GreetingZ
  22. I've read that you can use Google Talk only with an existing GMail account? Is taht true? If so, that's not good i think. Yahoo lets me use the Yahoo Messenger without using their email services. What reason does Google have to force you to use both?
  23. Sure the process is automated, otherwise they would need thousands of workers only for reading silly Emails. But I don't like it that they send me "email-content-generated"-ads, I prefer getting ads generated by a stupid "your-interests"-form or similar. And I would not like "chat-content-generated"-ads, and so I have the feeling - yes it's only a feeling - that I will not install any Google software. GreetingZ
  24. Hmmm ... maybe the user "demo" ran out of credits and his account was disabled.
  25. Perhaps you had been logged in to your own "real" cpanel before, and the system doesn't want the same IP-adress to be logged in under different usernames.
