  1. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (Most Complete of the SF2 series)King of Fighters 2000 (Great 2D fighter)Dead or Alive 2 Plus (The X-Box Remake)Tobal 2 (A very nice fighter for PS1 designed by Akira Toriyama)Samurai Shodown (Nice sword-based mideval Japanese fighter)I think you'll notice that 3 out of my 5 are 2D fighters... I think you can read something into that about my general opinion of the modern fighter.
  2. Well, I like SuSE Linux becasue of its sheer size. When you have 56K, having everything except an uncrippled media player is a real lifesaver. It means there's WAY less to download over a slow connection.
  3. In general Linux is a much better OS. For certain tasks (like gaming) Windoze still has an advantage though. In all fairness, XP isn't half bad, it's just nowhere near as good as a good Linux distro, especially when you consider how much more expensive barebones Windoze with no programs is compared to a nice Linux distro.
  4. heh. SuSE all the way for me. All these fancy new distros come out and I don't care. I'm a creature of habit and I like the huge amount of stuff that comes with it, cuz I only have 56k...
  5. Yeah, Ubuntu's installer doesn't look nice, but at unless you're trying to set up a dual-boot system, it works fine. If you are doing dual-boot, you have to mess with all kinds of manual partitioning stuff.
  6. Yeah. Any upgrading that gives you things like PCIe would basically involve building a new computer: all you could keep would be the case and the psu...That said, AGP is still feasable: you can get nice video card, more RAM and even a new CPU that will work with what you already have...
  7. Actually xine as it's included with all the major distros is severly crippled. In some countries DivX is covered by evil little things called software patents. In order to avoid problems, most distros make special crippled versions that can't play "patented" files. In order to play divx/xvid/dvd (and these days, for some distros, even mp3) you need to compile the media player from the source. It's not that hard to do. Just google to find the official site and follow instructions.
  8. "sux" has to be d/led seperately??? Not in my distro (SuSE)
  9. SuSE Linux is generally pretty good, but if you have an NVidia card, it can be a pain in the *bottom* to get 3D support working.
  10. When you go root, run "sux" instead of "su." That should give you the correct set up for graphics through root.
  11. I just came across a cool new FPS called Sauerbraten. It's not No. 1 in the looks department (although it looks gorgeous) but it has good gameplay (although it's still in alpha) and its easy in-game mapping abilities mean that there's already a decent number of maps available. Find it at http://sauerbraten.org/ Sauerbraten's "older brother" Cube is mature code and very playable. It's still possible to find people playing Cube online (although the growing playability and stability of Sauerbraten is lowering the number of players) Cube generally looks nice, but again is NOT top of the line. Get it at http://cubeengine.com/
  12. Yeah, this is a great game. Sadly I don't have a real N64 and this game is slow in the emulators because it's so complicated.
  13. Nice proggies. Dogwaffle's gone commercial, but a reasonable free version is still available and even the commercial version is cheaper than PSP. Actually it kind of reminds me of earlier versions of PSP (like 5 and below) back when it was still uncrippled, works-forever shareware.
  14. The Linux/UNIX family kick *bottom*, so I voted for it.
  15. It's cool I guess, but it slows things down a little bit. I'd much rather keep things fast and skip the eyecandy.
  16. Python is a very cool language. Just because something is newer doesn't always mean that it's better. That said the two languages are quite different Python is more for local interpreted programs, while Java is for compiled network-based apps.
  17. Well even Neo-Mandrake (Mandriva) is a better server platform than Windoze. As long as you're just trying to run a small personal server, you'll never need one of those "hardcore" distros.
  18. Because they cost lots of money and not everyone can afford fancy programs. Note that this was asked in the FREEWARE forum. Plus programs like the GIMP are every bit as powerful as any of the most powerful expensive programs.
  19. I would disagree somewhat with that. If you're looking to make an SNES-style 2D RPG, RPG Maker 2K(3) is much nicer than Game Maker and much easier than C++. It may require more coding than a Game Maker game, but the results can be as good as anything on the 16-bit consoles.
  20. Hmmm. It looks like there are too many restrictions on the Windows version. I'll try the Linux version though. Maybe I'll get the Windows version too if the Linux version is OK...
  21. I fail to see he point of alternate keyboard layouts The default one is just fine, at least for simple two-finger typing...
  22. Personally, I would avoid liquid cooling systems. They work (to some extent) but if a leak develops, you can kiss your computer goodbye. Also, I've heard stories about mold growing in the piping and causing an awful stink.
  23. I can't believe someone actually voted for IE. Well i guess some people like pop-ups and propreitary M$ junk Not me tho... I voted for Firefox.
  24. Sounds nice to me. The more a phone can do the better, at least in most circumstances.
  25. Looks cool, but frankly it reeks of bloat. A text editor should edit text and edit it well. I don't need features like a built-in web broweser in my text editors. If I wantd that, I'd use emacs
