  1. Yeah, I was actually unable to even see that page. What I meant before was that it would not let me view my page, not my uploaded content for I hadn't uploaded anything yet, but just my actual URL. It would also not let me to my Cpanel. But everything seems to be running smoothly now, let's just hope it stays that way. Thank you for your help though, I appreciate it.
  2. I learned HTML mostly by example. I took a few tutorials, but I would look at other sites' source code. From there I would just mess around with things on my editor and get the hang of it. My first site was very simple, but not to me then. I made it using frames, because i wanted the links to be beside the content and I was no good with tables or CSS yet. So frames it was, which I got the code from a help site. It's pretty much been an adventure from there. I learned CSS and I love it. Now I'm currently learning ASP.NET, PHP, and JavaScript. Maybe one day I'll do this professionally.
  3. I think it's pretty cool. I don't mean to make bonsai cats, I mean the idea behind it. The people who think of this stuff are either geniuses or very weird, you can decide. I personally think it would be cruel to do that to cats. But that's just me.
  4. Here you go buddy. You didn't need to have it all in a table or even in a div. You can mess around with this stuff, just though I'd fix the wrapping problem. <HTML><HEAD><TITLE></TITLE><META name="description" content=""><META name="keywords" content=""><META name="generator" content="CuteHTML"><style type="text/css">[tab][/tab]#container { width: 400px; margin: 0; padding: 0; }[tab][/tab]#span1 { width: 160px; margin: 0; }[tab][/tab]#departure { width: 100px; margin: 0 10px 0 0; }[tab][/tab]#span2 { position: absolute; width: 120px; }</style></HEAD><BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" TEXT="#000000" LINK="#0000FF" VLINK="#800080"><div id="container"><span id="span1"><input type="text" id="departure" name="DepartureAirportCode" size="20" maxlength="30"></span><span><input type="text" id="departure" name="DepartureAirportCode" size="20" maxlength="30"></span><span id="span2">Airport/city name or 3 letter code.</span></div></BODY></HTML> Hope all goes well from here on out.
  5. Hmmm...why is moon able to see it, but I can't and Rudy can't. It also won't let me onto my Cpanel. I just tried to reach my page about 1 minute ago, still says, "No Page to Display." I don't know what's going on.I'm a little confused now, I sent my friend the link to see if it would work for him... it did. So, I clicked on the link and it worked. 5 mintues before that it still came up "Page Not Found." but anyways, thank you two for your help.Oh JOY! Now it is not working. Is there something wrong with Xisto or is there something wrong with my comp. and receiving certain sites? Notice from moonwitch: Merged 3 consecutive posts
  6. I use css to layout my websites. I find them much nicer than tables, and they load quicker also. They're more flexible and you can do more things with them. So if you're a table person and still use tables to layout your sites, I would suggest using CSS. It's easy to learn and easy to use.
  7. I agree that there will be nuclear attacks, but I don't think they'll be anytime soon. If someone dropped a nuclear bomb, life would end in that area forever. The initial site that was bombed would be wiped out and nobody would ever be able to return again. It's like the nuclear testing on the Marshall Islands, people still can't live around there because of the radioactivity. If a nuclear attack occured soon, God help us all because all Hell would break loose with all the countries around the world who have nuclear weapons. Us of course, would want to go fight another "War on Terror" and would bomb anyone we thought might be involved. I hope that there is never a "War to End All Wars," but you never know what the future holds.
  8. I agree, it's insane for shoes to have chips and all, but I also agree that they're overpriced. I'm also a long distance runner, and the New Balance shoes I run in work amazing for me. I would never run in anything other than New Balance. What happens when your ADIDAS_1 starts to wear out after a month or two of hard running? Then you just spent $250 on a pair of shoes that you got a few months out of. I'll stick to my shoes that don't cost $250. I like ADIDAS for other sports though, I personally prefer them over anything else for soccer cleats, I think they're nice for wrestling shoes also, but those ADIDAS shoes don't cost $250 a pair.
  9. Would an admin be so kind as to please tell me why I had to register again on my account that I had previously made, but it's still not coming up. I type in the URL and it comes up "Page Not Found" or "Action Cancelled." I'm not able to reach my Cpanel either. The URL is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tobias
  10. Yes, very nice site. Never used it personally, I just use the tutorials and lessons in the program's help section. If I need more help than that, I either go to Macromedia's site or just mess around with it until I get what I'm looking for. I may have to start using that site though.
  11. I like them. I think they're nicely made, but like everyone else said... a little cluttered. If someone was to use it as a desktop background, it could be difficult to read the program names. I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but your site has some sidescroll to it also. Just thought I'd tell you that so it'd be more easily viewed. Keep up the good work.
  12. I too agree that it's a great site. newgrounds is also a good site for flash movies and games. I also like squizzle and pokerroom. Good stuff.
  13. I dislike Xanga. I mean yeah it's cool that people with no knowledge of webdesign can make their own site and stuff, but that makes me angry that people do that and then brag about how good it looks. It like the beginner thing on freewebs. You tell it what to do and it does it, nothing to be proud of there. Oh well, I guess as long as someone is offering to make the websites with just user-input people will continue to use them.
  14. Things can be free because companies have sponsors who supply them with money. They sometimes offer a free product with a fraction of the possibilities as the program that they charge for. They do this so that if you like the free version then you'll be compelled to pay for the better version. They offer free stuff for advertising.
  15. I also use Avast! My friend that used it recommended it to me, and it's done great! No serious problems have occured since I've had it and it's great because it can automatically update itself. It's user-interface is VERY SIMPLE to use. I recommend it for anyone looking for a free anti-virus.
  16. I've never had any problems with Yahoo! I personally prefer to search using Google, but it's all just personal preference I guess.
  17. I'm currently studying a book about ASP.NET called SAMS Teach Yourself ASP.NET in 24 Hours. It comes with a disk that has everything you need to get started, and I find it very helpful.
  18. That's cool and all that JavaScript is able to make the screen shake, but if it happened over and over again it would become very annoying and may make people not want to visit your site as frequently. It would become a hassle to watch the screen shake each time it was triggered.
  19. Yes, JavaScript is more for use on webdesign, while Java is for creating applets. Such as games.
  20. Here is the code for an on mouseover and onmouseout effect for an image... <a href="YOUR SITE LINK HERE" onmouseover="image.src='YOUR SECOND IMAGE'S URL'" onmouseout="image.src='YOUR FIRST IMAGE'S URL'"> <img src="YOUR IMAGE URL HERE" name="image" width="W" height="H" border="B"> You can change the areas that are in italics. Just make sure that your image's name and the name you use in the onmouseover and onmouseout properties are the same. Hope that's what you were looking for. Oh yeah, the <a href=" "> at the beginning is if you want to link your image back to your site.
  21. That site was very useful to me when I was learning CSS. I used their validator, but occasionally it would mess up. It's great for learning new webdesign methods though. I would recommend it to anyone learning HTML or any other kind of language.
  22. I like it very much. The colors go well together and the detail is good. (You can see the black keys) Not exactly sure what those are called, but they're black and smaller than the white keys and that's what I'm calling them. :PDo the white lines mean anything in particular? If not, they still add a very nice touch. Keep up the good work.
  23. I like it. But, I think there should be a vertical line seperating the news brief and schocon profile section. Other than that, It's very nice. I too would like to see this once it's posted on the net.
  24. I'm not entering in the contest but I'd like to comment. All of your banners are great! I would enter, but I'm currently busy learning some programming. I would just like to wish you all good luck and I can't wait to see who wins. Keep up the good work!
  25. Ummm... the first domain names were around before I was born! Some of those sites look like they used paint to make the images, which I'm sure if they made them in 1985 that the program couldn't have been too much better. But some of those sites have obviously had some upgrades. Like XEROX, it is still a major business so it upgraded to stay current. That's pretty awesome that sites have been around since 1985 though. Never thought about the oldest sites until I looked at this thread.
