couldn't you also use your dns:3306, or maybe your subdomain.host:3306 $db = mysql_connect("Xisto.com:3306", "user", "pass"); I have an account @ cogia.net and it hosts mysql, but it's strange because it limits the free accounts to one database, so I haven't actually tried it with Xisto. Someone give it a go and tell me how it goes. BTW here's what I use for cogia.net and it works fine. $conn = mysql_connect("cogia.net:3306", "mydbname", "pass"); Cogia uses the db name as your user and database.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Come to talk about this game
minnieadkins replied to iGuest's topic in Computer Gaming
I agree GTA: SA is definately the better game. If vice city had the strength stats etc then it would be a definate competitor. Just gotta love the time frame and the character from GTA: VC. All in all I wasn't surprised by SA being that good. It's a very hard game in some parts though. Be prepared to be aggrivated about some of the missions. Still never got past the flying the RC plane to take out the pple. Kept running out of gas on the way back lol. -
I'm taking a course on php and mysql, and so far I'm very interested in it. I just can't seem to get the "hang" of it. I never really used a database and I'm not too sure how to "setup" a database on ..let's say...even Xisto. So far we've set up localhosts and that's about it. Just learning, but so far I enjoy MySQl and it seems to be a very popular database. I'm just curious how everyone uses databases and php to make sites that allow a static menu to be displayed. Guess it's something to do with drop tables and such. Once I get the "hang" of this I'm sure I'll probably stick with MySQL.

Gmail Growing Larger every second counts
minnieadkins replied to jipman's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I was wondering how to use the "invite feature", but I guess they're not distributing invites now. I read that somewhere. I've only had gmail a few months and never had any invites. The space that's it's obtaining is cool though. I also have an account at http://www.walla.co.il/. Maybe I should just forward all my mail to gmail or something. Mine's also at 13xx GB -
I wouldn't personally spend that much for an iPod, but I'm just a college kid with no money. Maybe if I had a steady career and had a little spare cash. Personally an MP3 player with a few discs or a few cdrw's with some music on them would benefit me about the same. Although this music piracy is still a big issue, and that's how most people go that route when they download illegally, but can't you put iTunes on there and play them back as well? Maybe they have a different format. I have no idea, but surely it would play it since it also plays the .wma's and such. Anyone ever tried getting a free iPod from that site? http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I seen it on "The Screensavers", and the guy actually said it worked. (that show has gone downhill) No idea though. Just have to get a bunch of people to complete offers and such. If anyone wants to try it, sign up under me by clicking here. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/?r=12159974

It's obvious that ps2 was out way before the xbox. Therefore, the ps2 isn't in comparison to the hardware and graphics of the XBOX. (in most cases) GTA: San Andreas and many other popular video games are for the PS2 only. But, Ninja Gaiden + Halo serires for XBox. They both have great things for each system. Tough choice game wise.Don't be scared by the controller of the xbox though. I played GTA: SA on playstation and had to use their analog for it. I didn't much care for the precision. On xbox however. The 1st controller they came out with is bulky and sucks. But the S-series is great. It is a little bigger, but it fits right into my hand (or so it seems). The analog is great on xbox. Enough buttons and stuff, so everything works out. After around an hour of play time with it, I'm sure it would be alright for anyone else as well. I liked the ps1 and ps2 controllers also, but xbox isn't too bad to get use to.I also took an old ps1 controller (analog dual shock model) and was able to plug it into the thing ps2 console. I told my roommate (he has older ps2 model) and he said he couldn't do his that way. Just telling you all so you don't go spend $25 for a new ps2 controller when you have old ps1 laying around.

Lol, AOE was a game that came with my PC (microsoft) I guess. I thought it had good graphics for its time. Was a great game too. Then AOE 2 came out, and I decided to try it. Blew me away. Very addictive strategy game. Now AOE 3. WOOT. Great graphics. Hope the gameplay will be as good as it looks. Guess it's about time for a new vid card. And a new hard drive. LOL. These new games are giving me a beating on my pc's performance.

Which Linux Which Flavour of Linux you like?
minnieadkins replied to arunkumarhg's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm new to all this. I've always been with a windows system, so going into programming, of course, led me to linux. I haven't really ever seen it in action, but I'm curious. I'm going to try out Red Hat 9 for the first time I suppose. Just wondering if that's the right way to start out? Should I go with Red Hat or Mandrake. Just curious. I've read about both, and I guess they both have their advantages. All in all, I guess either/or would be sufficient to mess around with anyways. -
Is this silent hill 4: the room. I rented this game and couldn't really get anywhere in it. All I remember is those things that i kept hitting and they wouldn't die. I would beat them with a stick. Then after a little bit they would come back and be right back after me. Looked alright if I could have gotten somewhere in the game.

.wav is kinda big...IMO it is. 1 minute of audio = approximately 10 megabytes of space.mp3 however is 1 min of audio = 1 megabyte of space.mpg not too aware of. I thought mpg is movie..so obviously if u put video in there then it will be larger (unless bad quality and no sound) This is just my experience, with about the same quality of sound.

The gameplay in starcraft is just great. The graphics are a little out of date, but all in all I like starcraft better than war3. I never played war 3 on battle.net however, so I don't know how well it is overrall. Diablo was obviously a great game. Well I least IMHO it was great. I mean I spent many a night playing that game when I shoulda been studying. LOL. Overrall they should definately use BNET for most of their games b/c NO MONTHLY FEE! + Great games. They're in desperate need for an update on starcraft tho. Maybe the console edition of Starcraft ghost will be good. I'm looking forward to Starcraft 2 tho.

Halo For The Pc Mods and Hacks Galore
minnieadkins replied to Admiral Lyoko Samus's topic in Computer Gaming
Naturally I prefer Halo on pc for accuracy of aiming. I just can't get use to the xbox controls. Analog's not my thing. My resident advisor is pretty good at halo..I walked in and saw him playing some halo 2 ctf or something. He had his sens up to like 11 on xbox. Fairly accurate too. Guess I should try higher sens on it. -
I had been to lokitorrent and supernova. I don't know much about torrents, but I did try to see how they worked once. I found another site similiar to those which seemed stable. Might not have the latest and greatest, but friendly pple and good torrents. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ have to make a free account to get access. It's also based on a ratio rule.

I'm not much for new fighters. Tekken 4 was pretty cool, but my roommate has MK6. It's alright. I've never been too excited about playing MK6 as a game. It's more of an arcade experience. So for me, I get to play it, but I don't have to buy. I'm cheap. Actually the gameplay is good. Kinda cool fatalities, although I haven't played it much I'd say it's a good fighter. Better than most of the others I've played. Kinda surprised that after I beat someone it went to the fatality screen. I was like "what did i push" then the other guy cut his head off or something. That's something a little different (didn't really play last MK so that might've been in there). I don't own a gamecube but the ps2 comes with online play I thought. Does GameCube have online support. Anyways overrall I'd rate it an 8/10. Good graphics. Lots of unlockables. Some kinda tetris type game that is rather amusing for a few rounds. It's alright.

Lol, that would sway a persons mind about where the "ripping off" actually happened. Anyways, I've only been able to see commericals. Looks like a good game. I seen a friend of mine player the original awhile back. Looked interesting, but I'm so impatient with the "sneakiness" of the game. Sure it's cool and all, but as I have heard from numerous game reviews. If you lose your stealth, you lose the missions and have to start over. To me stealth isn't my game. Imma "run in and kill em" kinda gamer. I love tactical games as well, but there's just something about sneaking all the time that doesn't quite do it for me. Metal Gear Solid was an exception. I did like this game, but often times I was "nervous" (I guess) to be noticed. Then I would have to hide etc etc. Anyways, long story short, I would like to play Splinter Cell but it's not on top of my priority of games list. Btw: MGS2 sucked..hope 3 is good, my roomie has it. It's sitting here next to me but I haven't tried it. Anyone play it yet?

LOL! I would've never known about morrowind, but it came with my computer. I ordered one from cyberpowerinc.com and they sent me 2 or 3 games with it. Decent games too. Anyways, I agree. Great game. Different style of leveling up; that was unique. A lot of things were unique in the game. Great graphics. Never played it on XBox, but one things for sure. I have Fable, and that's a great game. That games just way too short though, I know that's not the case with Morrowind. Highly recommended for anyone who likes D&D or hack and slash rpgs. (you don't have to hack and slash however because you have bows and spells )

Basically I was wondering if anyone else had this same problem. I don't know the exact error but you'd know it if you seen it. It's an install error something like unable to launch installer.exe. If this continues please contact blizzard. Anyways I read some posts on a few "technical blizzard forums", I had some luck with findings but what I found didn't work. Going to defrag and run scandisk I guess that'll help some. Anyways help would be appreciated to fixxing this. Oh, and another solution was checking my ram to see if it had errors. I say screw the game before I give up one of my sticks of ram lol, although I did try to remove one and install it. (didn't work)

A simple way to get php on your system is obviously running the apache server. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ That's the download you need I believe. It's apache 2.0 and fairly easy to install. The new additions and modifications make it much easier to run on Windows platform. Documentation about it can be found at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/ or just visit http://www.apache.org/ and browse around for yourself. You can find pretty much everything you need to know there. After re-reading some of these posts however I think the triad package sounds pretty efficient. You'll need MySQL more than likely. Download it all at once. But if you're going to just mess with PHP only either choice would be fine.

Msn Messenger 7.0 Or 6.2? which one is better
minnieadkins replied to harriko's topic in Computer Networks
Interesting to know. I just updated my MSN messenger last night to like 6.2b or something. Guess they did a little fix on some problems from the previous 6.2. Anyways the only complaint I have about MSN is now it's becomeing more into advertising and trying to screw with your settings. Defaults on installing makes homepage msn. MSN toolbar, etc etc. Plust all the different things that pops up when you run it, and needless to say the ads ont he top of the proggy. I know I know, you turn most of those off or just decide not to care. Still just annoying, but I guess that's the price we pay for the software. Decent instant messenger though. Most widely used one on my system. -
I believe, which is true with almost everything, we have evolved. I don't believe however that we have evolved from apes. Apes != Humans. If that's the case why do they still exist. I mean if they evolved...that would be Darwins theory that they (apes of today) wouldn't survive because we are the "stronger" of the two. Anyways, evolution has allowed us to become "different" from what we once were.sources melol I have no evidence and really never "looked" into it thoroughly. Just my own thoughts.

I wouldn't turn down an offer to a gmail accountemail: eq3guru@walla.com btw in resposne to all this I like walla okay. I just mainly want to see what all the hype is about gmail.

Sounds very interesting. Let me get this straight though. The war started because of the "aliens" teaching us advanced technology with manipulating genes? All in all I would be up for it. Has a good story and background that can be built upon as you said with expansions.

I'm a very basic user when it comes to graphic design. I tried to take a class at college, (still am in colleg) but it was titled graphic design and it wasn't the right course. Had to do with cardboard, cutting, pasting, etc. Anyways, I was wondering if one of you guys would take the time and post a tutorial in the tutorial section. Maybe something simple. Not the layout or anything, but like how to make sigs by using layers etc. (I can do that much, but it might not be the right way) Maybe explain how to use masks or make a collage or how to blend in items and make them fade away. I mainly use PSP but I'm thinking about switching over to photoshop. Depends, I could probably get my hands on Maya in the future and was thinking about giving that a shot. Just depends on the time I have during college. Anyway, if anyone would take the time to explain some of the basics of these functions, that would be great.

I played baldurs gate 1 and beat that one several times. The 2nd one was kinda long and I got very far into it. But I don't think I ever actually beat it. It was a good series, and a good game. Especially liked the pause button and then u could give commands to your characters. I like Baldurs Gates rules but the D&D rules would be cool to see as well.

Best Fps Ever! what do you think is the best fps ever?
minnieadkins replied to iGuest's topic in Computer Gaming
all of those are great...or at least the ones i've played. Honestly I'm still into multi fps with quake 3. So that's my vote. OSP rail only is just darn addictive. I also like unreal tournament and halo. Doom 3 was pretty good for single player, but it was a 1 time play game. Anyways I still play quake 3. Can't wait til quake 4. Hope they leave the rail gun in there.
