  1. that's a fact. you'll sooner reach your bandwith limit than your database limit.really 100mb is a lot.that's about one hundred million characters. if you have a popular messageboard, you can still delete the oldest topics if you need space... i think phpbb has the option to do this automaticly.
  2. then what are you laughing about lhunath! you vlaams blokker! hehe.
  3. all those nu metal bandsexcept for tool maybe. tool is cool. but sliknot and limp bizkit and stuff like that... euh, ... iewand then the guys that sing "by my butterfly, sugar, baby". i profondly hate them.
  4. as a european, i have quite an anti-bush oppinion.watch fahrenheit 911. i agree, it's kinda subjective, michael moore got his emotions mixed up with facts, but there's a lot of truth:bush is always talking about terrorist attacks, but in fact it's far less spectacular. fear works. he tries to mangle in to many things in foreign countries. sometimes, you just have to leave them alone and let them solve their own problems.if bush goes on like this and starts waging wars upon countries without the cooperation of the united nations, the uN will fall apart and europe will really turn against the USA, it's going in that direction already. we've always been allies and it should stay like that. i don't want to live to the day that europe & US go to war against eachother, and if the current tendense continues, this is closer than most US civilians probably think. they.off course, kerry will not change the world in a year. i don't expect too much. and you are right: we know how bush is, but we don't know what to expect from kerry... but think about this: can it be any worse? bush lowered social security, brought death for many soldiers (i think there are about 2000 casualties now), and got the whole world turning against him (except for tony blair, but that's not a big achievement)vote kerry. ralph nader would be better, but on the other hand, he should redraw: he'll only take votes away from kerry and will never win, so what he is doing is in favour of bush.watch fahrenheit 911. really!
  5. hm, not built in in windows for sure but you might want to try installing a piece of software. i'm sure there are tools that can do this, freeware tools even. a fast search gave me this: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  6. ok, i really don't get your question anymore, but whatever: normal situation: if your code is: <b>bold</b> they will see bold 1. if you want the users to see your html code instead of the effect it has, use <pre> your code: <b>bold</b> on their screen: <b>bold</b> another option to do this is the way r3d described: you use the html special characters instead of the real character. you can make a javascript function that replaces every "<" by "<", every ">" by ">" etc 2. if you want to strip all the tags: your code: <b>bold</b> they see: bold what you need to do is strip the html tags so wherever you find something like <xxx> (regular expression: /<[^>]*>/) replace it by an empty string. if this still doesn't help you, please tell us which one of these two things you want.
  7. then, there's no such thing. you'll have to use either a client or server side script. i'd advise php, because then your output doens't depend on the client having javascript enabled or not. but javascript is probably the easiest. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ that should help you out but i'd still advise you to use php though, or another serverside script. + i don't really get the use but whatever
  8. hey lhunat, what the guy is doing is using a form. you are counting on an emailprogram to mail, but what if the user is on a public computer?besides, you'll get spam if you do that. not within days, but after a while you will!besides that, he uses some server that sends his mail, which is kinda stupid as you can easily use the 'mail' function in php.cool things about that mail function:you can choose the sender. so you can fake mails ))))you can put it in a for loop. so you can choose to send a thousand times the same mail :)or you can use your database and send the mail to everybody in it.i have no idea why he's using the other server. i guess it's a service they offer and you can put that form on your site without knowing any php... something like thatl
  9. yeah, that's the smartest thing to do. i have quite a lot of partitions: one for windows, two for linux (/ and swap), one for movies, one for music, one for install files and documents... hehepartitions rule.
  10. yes! they will hack your computer, and destroy your harddrive and hunt you down and rape your mother....come on. everybody messes with microsoft, a company that is much more powerfull that google.if google doesn't want it, they can block it. shouldn't take them too long and to much effort.and off course it was never their intention to have the space used as a place to share files. but then again, it's hard to prevent i think. you'll always be able to use shared gmail accounts as a place to share your divx movies with your friends...
  11. to answer the question about why i need 560gb:movies! i used to put them on cd's, but all my cd's got ****ed up after a while. now i save them on the two 200gig drives, which both are filled for about 80%the others are pretty stuffed too: current downloads, backups, a lot of pictures (over 3 gb )i store just about everything on harddisks. cd's suck, not reliable.
  12. i got 3 of them running atm. and they all have their + and -soulseek:+ downloading complete albums, fast, like a charm. - you are dependant on 1 source... but most of the times, soulseek users are cool.emule:+ you find a lot there. just about everything: old movies like flash, big, the neverending story, ...- quite slow at timesbittorrent:+ new movies, working ffffffast!- only new stuff, sometimes you run out of sources.so this is my process:-if it's music i want, i use slslk, if it's a program, it's emule. if it's a movie, i check bittorrent first. if they don't have it, i go for emule
  13. rapco, i don't want to dissapoint you, but you cannot use the google space as webspace. sure, you could post html files & pictures on it. but php wouldn't work. and besides: all your visitors would need you password & stuff in order to visit it
  14. well, you can't because the server is not an sms server. however, there are several sites offering a few sms messages if you login. so basicly, what you could do is write a script that logs in automaticly to such a site and sends messages form there. example script: http://www.keyvan.net/?pagef5b20dc7b7a02e but as you'll see, you need logins to those sms services and probably, they'll only allow you a few messages a day. if you want unlimited messages, you could try to find a company that offers paid services for this. phpbb2 is a messageboard. not an smsscript.
  15. i checked it out and deleted it after about 2 hours. boring like hell. all i did was trying to get my guy **** with as many girls as possible. after 5 or so, i got tired of it and uninstalled it. just no game for me.
  16. well, there are some new feautures though. more support for actidve directory & stuff like that. but on thing that sucks about windows xp is that you can already login before all the policies have been committed. so basicly, if you're fast, you could bypass some policies and get to sources you shouldn't be able to get to. that's why xp boots faster. but it isn't better.if you get all the service packs for 2k, you're at least just as good & safe.besides, xp uses more resources. after saying this, it'll be funny for you to here that I use XP. i think XP is great for home users that don't need to bother about securing delicate information & stuff. it's easy and most software that comes out is made for xp in the first place. i have the impression it's better for gaming too.so to sum things up: linux! haha
  17. i got mandrake 10.1 beta 2 and for the first time since i bought my laptop, i found a distribution that really uses my ati radeon 9600 mobility with 64mb dedicated memory . finally, i can play games! it's really easy, even my mom uses it for surfing & typing.they have some kind of 'control pannel clone' too, so you can do a lot of settings through a visual interface if you're not that confident with shells...great for beginner and still quite powerfull too!
  18. ok, what you installed was a BETA versionit's normal that it still has flaws. actually, it's not legal that you have it, so don't wine about it not working.wait to judge about it until the official release comes out.as i said before: doom 3 beta: very slow, needed a lot of resourcesofficial release: much better, a lot less resources needed.cheers
  19. he're mister show-off:desktop: 1*20 & 1*80laptop: 1*60external: 2*200total: 560
  20. nvidia has better support. ati is easyer to connect with your tv, but nvidia does ok too.john carmac (maker of doom, quake,... the guy is a genious, writes his own videodrivers, crazy) once said:if i'm havint problems with the nvidia drivers, it's probably because i made a mistake somewhere. if it's with an ati card, there's somthing wrong with their drivers.newest nvidia cards are crazy. but ati is cool too. you can't really **** it up, unless you buy a light version or something alike.
  21. 1) download smartftp (https://www.smartftp.com/, free and very good)2) install it 3) open it and when it asks a lot of things, just press cancel or ok4) in the 'server' field, enter ftp.youraccountname.astahost.comport: 21, username = again youraccountname, password = the one you got or you changed it into.4) press enter or the connect button. now on the left side, you have your remote folder system. your website goes in the 'www'"you can add more ftp accounts in the cpanel (other ftp accounts : another username & password. you can give them different rights. for example: they can only change some folders...)
  22. as far as i know, it only counts the posts that are made in the 'support' part of the forum.edit: i meant contribute-part!!
  23. hahah, herbert, you nerd! hehe. crazy mf!
