  1. For those of you who still doesn't know, emptying your recycle bin doesn't really mean that you have permanently erased the file. It just means that the file was marked deleted by the system and it will not be recognized anymore as a valid data, thus its value is blank. Same with formatting a drive, formatting means erasing all data in your hard drive but by all means, some physical data can still be recovered. If you have accidentally or someone has accidentally deleted your file, then you can find a software that can recover it. The one I use is a part of my TuneUp Utilities 2004 - TuneUp Undelete, it gives me a list of existing physical files in my hard drive that can still be recovered and it gives me information if that file is in good condition or not. Your data can be used against you as evidence because softwares such as TuneUp Undelete exists, for this, TuneUp has another application that deletes file permanently from your drive - TuneUp Shredder. It uses the Department of Defense's 5220.5M format of secure deletion, you can also choose to delete the allocated free space assigned to the file. Well, there are always many other good softwares there in the net that can offer good file recovery, try searching in google.
  2. Wow! Thanks! It did... I still need to research on some things though... But you gave me some idea. [edit] Hope someone can post some additional info here. How about configuring the NAT and stuff?
  3. Well, the first computer is about 47 KM away from the second computer. The first computer is in a town where there is no internet connection because it is kinda remote... I wish there was a possibility that I could share my internet connection through dial-up. I heard it was possible by using NAT or something if you have a router. Just don't know where to get a guide or if what they claim is true...
  4. What do you think is the best OS around to use? Something you can use in every aspect, "all around" type. Please vote in the poll, if it's in the Other, please specify. You could also brag about some if its features, some explanations and why you think it is the best. Windows XP SP 2 works fine for me because it is user-friendly, i'm not really good at using Linux.
  5. I'm using AMD Duron 1.1 Ghz. Been using it for about 2-3 years now? Works fine for me, as long as my computer runs smoothly, I don't need to buy a new one. Forgot about my L1/L2 Cache size and the FSB size...
  6. Registry can be a factor in data processing speed, if you have some registry misconfigurations, your computer may slow down. Better have maintenance of it just like maintenance of files, i'm using software that optimizes and "cleans" the registry. Makes my system run smoothly.
  7. Well... If it's surfing anonymously on the net, the steganos software would be good. You can find more information about their product for anonymous internet surfing[internet Anonym Pro 7] in their website. https://www.steganos.com/de/ - happy surfing, it's a good thing you can still protect your privacy in the net.
  8. Here's how I make some space on my hard drive: Im am using a registered version of TuneUp Utilities 2004 from /oldbrowser/index.html - works good on getting rid of junks and temporary files, also fixes and optimizes your system. Using the basic disk cleanup utility on the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools Using the defrag data utility on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools(only when the drive needs defragging) I also clean up some folders that contains some unimportant files, some are as follows: x:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp x:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\<application that uses temporary file storage> - kinda useful(since some applications like Adobe Photoshop uses a lot of temporary memory[its scratch disk]) x=Disk Drive Letter I always clear out my internet cache, cookies including all offline files that I get from the net. Internet Explorer Tabs -> Tools -> Internet Options... -> General Tab -> Delete Cookies/Delete Files(including offline files)
  9. I mean like, I want to be like a dial-up Internet Service Provider except that I only have 1 computer to serve and that is my other computer. My first computer has a broadband connection.
  10. First of all, you should learn something about LAN topologies. Then choose the LAN topology that you like. After that, choose the operating system that you would use to be networked and plan on how to set it up. LAN networking really depends on how you want it to be set up so I can give you no specific help on setting it up. You could do some research, a bus/star topology would be good for gaming.
  11. The Sims 2!

I wonder what simulations they have added. Maxis is really good at those things, simulating how a human would act in an interactive world. I'm gonna get a copy of this game if I get extra money.
