  1. Yes, but you posted in the wrong category. Anyways, this is the code: <BGSOUND SRC="YOUR MUSIC LOCATION HERE" LOOP="infinite"> That is of course, in HTML. Enjoy. BTW, you could ommit the LOOP line if you want to play the music just once, otherwise, you can set the number of times you want it to be looped, just replace the value of infinite.
  2. Well, cookies are considered bad if it's a tracking one, especially if you give importance about your privacy(or if you have violated something and you are being traced). Otherwise, it's just another one of those harmless little tools of technology.
  3. In my own personal opinion, CPanel is just great. It is very user-friendly and it makes my work easier as a webmaster. Fantastico lets me install scripts that could take time when installed manually and I could manage most of the things in my host. It is very useful but I do not recommend buying it when you have no money. It costs a lot, I won't force myself to buy it if I know that I can manage my host well without it. Still, a very useful and good tool!
  4. Wow! Thanks kabayan. Those guides were really helpful. Now I can successfully move my files even if I move to a new host. Thank you very much. You have enlightened me. Now I have less worries.
  5. Hmmm? Well it also means Shockwave Flash. Simplicity adds a sense of beauty on a site, it really interests a lot of surfing peeps. I wish I could have wrote a longer reply but this was all I could type(or think of).
  6. Well, what kind of file is that? You didn't really give the file type so we will have no idea/clue about the file that was corrupted. If it is a movie file, you could use xVid to repair it but if it is something else then that would be a different story.
  7. You could also terminate some useless processes that are currently running on your system. That way, your computer would use less memory and would run faster. Well, you could always turn on those processes again if you need them or if better yet, terminate and uninstall them if they are just plain useless.
  8. Just want to add this: choose a good hardware, something not defective. Good parts make up a good computer. Making a good computer isn't just in the software, it's kind of more balanced... Software and hardware. You can't actually run a good computer if you have defective hardware functioning on it even if you have the most updated software and security updates.
  9. This worm is quite annoying! Tsk, it really gave me a hard time when I tried to fix it in my dad's office PC. Dang! Good thing there are articles in the net about fixing things. I found this - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security/default.aspx - Well, it provides some protection against the worm but the article is focused on Windows users.
  10. For those who still do not know, you can change your HTTP User Agent header with some software(like what TuneUp Utilities does), the disadvantage though is some webpages cannot be viewed correctly because it does not match any browser type in that webpage's browser detection script(sometimes). I use Internet Explorer 6 SP2 and the logs show that I am using "almoo7 Internet Browser".
  11. Hahahaha! Thanks, that reminded me to keep eating healthy foods. I thought it was something about FAT32 and stuff. I was kinda surprised seeing something like that in here.
  12. Hello, i'm a newbie in using phpBB and I still lack knowledge in mySQL database. How do I transfer the datas(users, configs, all of them) contained in my current forum to another one in phpBB? I hope someone can help, a short but detailed tutorial would be good. Example is, if I want to move to a new host and I want to transfer all the accounts on my old forum to the new one. Thanks in advance, hope anyone here knows how to.
  13. I am currently using ECS K7S5A It was the cheapest motherboard i've seen in a compushop 3 years ago when I decided to assemble my box. It's about $27. Still works fine until now but I don't know if the components are still upgradeable, i'm doing my best to have the cheapest parts on my com and at the same time, something that would not be easily destroyed, something efficient and not defective - I guess i've done a good job. I'm planning to upgrade my RAM to 512 MB DDR and upgrade my processor to AMD Sempron 2.2 GHz, still, the cheapest good working box around. I'll also upgrade my current video card(64MB 3D VRAM) to a new one with a TV-out and video line in feature(128MB DDR 3D VRAM) Well, i'm still looking for money to buy those new things.
  14. I prefer customizing my own system that works perfectly for me. Buying pre-made computers are too costly and sometimes doesn't suit what you want in a computer. It's good if you have no good technical skills though.
  15. Since you did not state anything that could be useful to be analyzed why your computer has shut down, these are some of the possibilites:Power FlactuationYou were remotely shutdown by someone unauthorized from your system(hacked)Fatal Application ErrorSomething accidentally pressed the restart/power button of your PC.A malicious program hidden in your system that executed because of something you did that triggered it.OverheatHardware failureCondensation inside your boxA possible short circuit somewhere in your systemYou accidentally pressed a shortcut button/key that can restart/shutdown your computer.Hope this helps, sorry about this, cannot have an accurate diagnosis of your problem since you didn't really emphasize and elaborate your problem well.
  16. My Printer, Scanner and Phone is just about inches away from my monitor. Maybe you are talking about a specific monitor? You didn't say why it was dangerous... May I know why? b01, how would an LCD be good to your health?
  17. Thanks, I learned something about designing my website from the article! Design, after all, is the factor that makes people stay/hang out in a certain webpage.
  18. Thanks! I'm intending to place ads in my site since it generates income. Hope someone can post a guide or something(a short but detailed one would be good)...
  19. I use HTML protector. Works fine for me, kinda good for protecting images since it automatically makes a php script to protect it. The 2nd method of encryption doubles the file size of the HTML file but it's worth it since only a handful of people can decode it(i'm talking about Javascript experts/decrypters). Good for getting rid of spiders from your site. Some pre-made metatags to add to your page, useful scripts and features to try to protect your source code. Of course, just like others, HTML can be decoded no matter what kind of encryption you would apply to it. It just lessens the people that could steal your content.
  20. I use notepad for coding and SwishMax for content. I also use javascript encryption tools(softwares, mine is HTML Protector) to protect the source code of my work(hardwork is useless if it can be copied, plagiarized/used by others and claim it as theirs). Also, I use some automated script generator, takes less time to finish my work.
  21. BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Microsoft announced Wednesday it would offer a low-cost starter edition of its Windows XP operating system in Asia starting in October, as it strives to hold onto market share facing erosion from the open-source Linux system and software piracy.Although U.S. software giant Microsoft still holds a commanding share of the desktop PC market worldwide, several major computer retailers in Asia in the past year have begun offering hardware with Linux installed.Industry analysts have described the launch of what already has been dubbed "XP Lite" -- with lower-resolution graphics, fewer networking options and less capacity for multitasking than full XP versions -- as a pre-emptive move against Linux.Linux is open source software available for little or no cost to computer vendors and users because no licensing fee is charged in its basic form.Microsoft also has said it hopes that the lower-priced products can help combat software piracy, which is rampant in the developing countries of Asia, where full-priced programs often are out of the reach of buyers. The new software, officially called Windows XP Starter Edition, is "a low-cost introduction to the Microsoft Windows XP operating system designed for first-time desktop PC users in developing countries," Microsoft said in a news release.Microsoft acknowledged earlier this year that it was working on the project, but kept details secret. The Starter Edition will ship on new, low-cost desktop PCs available through manufacturers and Microsoft distributors in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, the company said.It said two more countries in the five-country pilot program would be announced later this year following further discussions with governments, and that vendors would be informed about pricing in coming weeks.Microsoft said key features of the new software would be "localized" help features, country-specific wallpapers and screensavers, and "preconfigured settings" for features that might confuse novices. The new software's "simplified task management" in which "first-time home PC users can have up to three programs running concurrently" represents a downgrade from the standard XP system. A full XP version can run many more programs concurrently, depending on the amount of memory in a computer.Other downgrades include "display resolution set to 800x600 maximum and no support for PC-to-PC home networking, sharing printers across a network or more advanced features such as the ability to establish multiple user accounts on a single PC," the company said. The new software retains standard XP features such as Internet connectivity, Windows Messenger, Windows Media Player 9 and digital photography support. - That's from the link that I've written on my first post in this topic. Please note that the software name is Windows XP Starter Edition and not Windows XP Lite.
  22. I'm here for the hosting, I would be a hypocrite to say that i'm not, but not for that sole purpose, I also joined this community for learning and contributing purposes. I thought that it would be good to participate in communities like this, gives me an opportunity to learn new things about computer and stuff and help others too.
  23. Microsoft announced the launch of Windows XP Lite in Asia last August. This is a great replacement for XP if you have a slower computer and a lower budget for an operating system. More info on this can be found in http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - Hmmm, wouldn't if be good if there was Linux lite? That way, it could only take some small disk space on your drive and you can use only the features/functions you need.
  24. Windows' Service Pack 2 is a blessing! Now I won't be bugged with those pop-ups anymore and I can easily choose which pop-ups I would like to see. Less time for crawling the net for anti-popup softwares because it is already built in in Windows! Yaaay! My programs are running smoother and it added some protection(blocked) on some unknown ports I do not know in my firewall plus it alerts me when something is wrong with my system and reminds of me of its recommendations. For example, my antivirus was turned off, it would automatically inform me to reenable my antivirus for protection, how nice. Heh heh, the only problem is the WHQL compatibility with my video card, I hope they have already built something for Windows SP2, works fine though but it would be better if it was digitally signed. Oh well, too many good features to elaborate, there are still many possibility for hacker attacks though.
  25. GMail is ok, different from any other e-mail services i've used. The search tool is cool and automatically sorting your mails for the same like a chat session? Excellent, good concept. Not to mention the 1000 MB storage they give you, and it's still in beta! It could get a lot better when it's released.
