  1. In my opinion, frames just show an amateur web designer. No matter how well it is disguised. If you want a scrollable area, it can be achieved easily with css. Don't make iframes for this.
  2. Haslip. That first bbcode parser is terrible. It uses str_replace and is completely exploitable. Just see what happens when you try this bbcode in it: [img]http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/&; onload="while(true){alert('this parser sucks');}[/img]
  3. Well hello there crepusculart. Your name is quite a mouthful. How would I even go about pronouncing that. cre-pus-cul-art... Wow. How do you come up with a name like that But look who's talking. I bet you're thinking "how would i go about pronouncing your name alex7h3pr0gr4m3r? well you can just call me alex, or alex the programmer. Anyway I do hope you enjoy your stay here, and don't do anything to get you banned, so be sure to read those rules. So I will see you around the forums.
  4. That's a pretty limited list... Not everyone is into gaming.... But this xkcd comic pretty much sums up everything I have ever searched for:
  5. Do you have flash? Flash somehow makes everything look good. Even when drawn with a shaky mouse. But if not perhaps you could increase the contrast of your drawings? Or perhaps start drawing them in pen instead of pencil.
  6. Good plan, just remember you learn the best just by trying to do stuff. I had a book on php, didn't really help me at all, but I really got good when I started developing websites. When I needed to know how to do something I would just google it. I would just learn stuff as it came to me. If you have any questions that you can't find on google don't be afraid to post it here, and me or one of the other programmers will be more than happy to help.
  7. Well hello there coolguy. I feel honored to be the first person to introduce you to our forums. It's usually mich or haslip who have that privilege. Anyway I do hope you enjoy your stay here, and hopefully it isn't cut short by a mod or admin, so be sure to read those rules. Anyway, yes, as my name implies, I'm a programmer, and mainly only stick around the computer board, but I will see you around. Welcome to trap!
  8. It's a nice little banner for your site. I like it the best because it blends in and doesn't stick out like some sigs do. I'll give it a 7/10.So anyway I didn't make anything in my sig. Userbars were found and my sig banner was made by SM, but for me, rate what you think of the whole thing. How I laid it out and my choice of images. Also my avatar!
  9. I like it because of the humor, but it is a little difficult to read. You should at least do the text on the computer. The art is nice too, but I just plain don't like the crumpled paper in the back, and the contrast between that and the light grey color of your pencil. It detracts from the comic. Like I said, your sense of humor is great, just please draw it on your computer. For the sake of my eyes!
  10. Ah, I forgot about that. I suppose that would be one of the primary reasons for haveing email verification. I was only thinking about email verification where you check if the email is actually a real one and not just made up. That's too bad, I thought I had a good idea going. Well i guess you bring up a good point.
  11. You could use fwrite for this, but I would not suggest writing directly to the php file. Instead write to a text file that the php file includes. That way if anybody finds your updater they won't be able to seriously damage your website.
  12. Well first of all you can't send credits unless your hosted. I'm actually asking opaque if he will change it and it sounds like he will in the next credit system. Well that would most likely be against the rules because xisto sells credits to members who want to buy them, and if you sell them that would be competing against xisto. Yes you can if you find somebody willing, but once again you must be hosted first.
  13. Well mainly because I love giving out credits. I don't use my Xisto account for anything really. I only post here because I love the forums, but there are so many members who may not have enough time to post here or would like a few extra credits, and because of that I love giving out credits. I organize a few credit give aways, but I am severally limited because of losing a credit per day, and because of the fact that you have to be above 30 credits to send to another member. Even if there is a high tax when exchanging at least I feel my credits went to that cause, instead of being waisted on hosting that I am not using nor will ever use.
  14. Yes it's never a good idea to do that for messages from senders you don't know. But anyway, back on topic. I would actually like to see more websites actually using this technique. Not only is it more user friendly, but it is also very impressive to people who might not know how it works. If anybody actually uses my technique, i'd love it if they posted it here. I'm interested to see it in action.
  15. Yes I was thinking about the exact same thing a while ago... Perhaps this is why the ratings aren't open yet. They most likely have a solution for it, it's just not ready for the public to use yet.
  16. Wait a sec mike... I thought you had to be hosted for this. Does that mean if I terminate my hosting and get 280 credits I could get a free domain name that I could use for, lets say my Xisto - Web Hosting account? I can't post enough to get up to 250 when i'm hosted but I can get up to 280 when not hosted in a snap...
  17. Well mine's 3 years old so its average right now, but 3 years ago it was the the best I could get without getting custom stuff. It's not too shabby. Some of your machines own mine, but all together it cost me almost 4 grand so I won't be buying a new one any time soon.
  18. I was reading about a revolutionary new search engine, using the idea that wikipedia uses: You can trust users give you results of what they want to see on the internet. This new search engine allows users to vote for every result of how relevant it is to your search query. There is also a mini wiki at the top of every search where users can add their own content on that search query. It is a very interesting approach to search engines. I'm sure you will see google and yahoo adopt some of the features in this one. As of now, the ratings do not yet affect the results. I believe it is still in beta, or even still under development. As for the searches right now, it doesn't seem to get me the most relevant results, but I'm sure after they open the ratings, they will start to become better. 19. Congrats here are 10 credits, even though I couldn't figure out what url you encrypted, its md5 so it's good enough for me. Have fun with your domain!
  20. Ask one of them which path the other would tell you to take. And then take the other one.
  21. Actually on second thought, dont pm me. Post it in the topic. Write "the answer to your scavenger hunt is: . Oh and you might want to put some other stuff so it isn't counted as spam XD

  22. Alright, so instead of terminating my hosting account I decided to stay hosted so I could give away some more credits! SO the first person to complete my challenge wins. And also, this time I have the 10 credits ready, so you won't have to wait a week to get them <_<Anyway as I am typing this I am thinking of some kind of a challange... Hmmm. Well I'm not good enough at math to make a math challenge, and programing would be too easy. So I think I will make a scavenger hunt. ACROSS THE INTERNET!!!So your first hint is:m12251You must figure out what this means, and then find a link there and follow it! Good luck.
  23. Hi there. How are you? Oh you're banned :(. Anyway isn't m50587 the coolest number ever?

  24. This is my friend and he said it was ok to use his profile to be a part of the scavenger hunt... anyway now you must PM me the md5 encryption of the url of the first step in the chain and you win!

  25. Alright finally got you those 25 credits and now I'm free to give out more awards! Mods can close this topic if they want...
