  1. For programs, if you can't buy it, i'd just use a open-source equivalent. or else settle for less. is saving that $50 for a program (or $600) worth the risk of lawsuit?
  2. ubuntu is a very userfriendly ("newbie friendly") distribution of linux as well.
  3. all your suggestions are great...but unlike the original post, they arent free. this is a free way to convert dvd 9's to put on your own dvd's.
  4. 10 chars is overkill. pick a secure RANDOM password (find a random generator) and use as many DIFFERENT TYPES of characters as you can. 8 is a reasonable number. if you're sooper paranoid, 16 characters.
  5. its just a phrase adopted by the modern societies to prove one's affection. there's nothing wrong with that. sure you shiould love everyone. but it's not restricted to that to use the phrase.
  6. it's really hard to find these because it costs money to legally air them online or on tv.
  7. the most secure as a password you can get is using a variety of different types of characters (symbols as well if possible) and different cases.
  8. first of all...i dont like outlook. thunderbird is much better.i dont understand the point of digital signatures. they are EASILY copied, and dont provide any security use. all you can do is "-Alex" or whatever.i use signatures in emails to advertise my sites.
  9. because it's free. terminal, that's kind of rediculous. saving 300 bucks is A LOT of money. working for a lot of poeple is a couple hundred a month.
  10. i dont think ebay for "barebones" isnt reliable. those people could have bought a barebone, and swapped in a worse motherboard or something, and then sold it for less.tigerdirect would still be my first choice.JC05, the definition of a barebone system is one that has the parts needed to "start up." That would include motherboard, processor, ram, and harddrive. they usually chip in a cd/dvd drive too.
  11. heh, e3. i wish i could have gone, it's a HUGE expo.
  12. is this even useful for sound of 2 speakers and a subwoofer?
  13. not really dude, it's on many news sites and they are credible.
  14. the actual site isnt bad then. it's the content of the users.
  15. yes. a lot of people are programming their own too for separate programs and their support. it's too much, and they all compete for the ratio of file size to quality.
  16. fry's or newegg has great deals on barebone systems that can function. the quality of the actual components is not always the best. tigerdirect too.
  17. doesnt matter dont stray too off the topic. i agree with a few above that there are more likely hidden cameras to monitor people than far away. but i guess maybe this is useful if they are in foreign countries.
  18. a radeon 9200 or 9200 SE should be able to play them, just not atthe best quality. new. you can probably get them new for about 20-40 dollars now. very decent card for the price (and has a big overhead for overclocking if need be).
  19. spell check is your friend (except my spellcheck is often wrong). being a fast typer, it doesnt matter to me, doesnt really slow me down.
  20. i dont like it. soon windows programs will all save stuff in wmp and then linux users and whatnot have to pay to be able to view those files. it'll be sooper lame. why cant we use jpg n png n gif?!
  21. what progrma do you use? By render, do you mean 3d model? such as blender or maya?
  22. cant you hide the folder and add a password? if you really want to hide something, you should also get a file/harddrive encryptor. there are many free ones out there that allow you to scramble the data the way you want to.
  23. i thought perpetual motion on earth was already created with that box that had hinges on the edges. I saw a demonstration, but it could have just been powered by electricity to show a theoretical idea.
