What Graphic Software You Use?
atomicnacho replied to MaticooL's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I use Adobe Photoshop CS, and Illustrator. I have also tried a couple of the free opensource graphics programs available. Namely Inkscape (vector graphics) and the Gimp (for photoshop like features without vector features). All of them seem to work well, however as expected the Adobe products are a little more polished and documentation is available and easier to find. -
Wow, I just downloaded it this afternoon after my cuteftp 30 was up. It seems to work fine. Everything you really need in an FTP client.I also thought it was free, but for sume reason when I open it I get an Unregistered label on the top. Maybe just because they want my info.

Well I was about to say that you were getting a little carried away with the whole robots thing, but I just saw this article linked over on slashdot.org. A nanocar? This type of thing is the reason that science will soon shy away from the "nano" as it is in the media too much. Mods: I hope I'm not posting in my own thread too much. Please let me know if this is the case.

A lot of research right now is being devoted to creating nanocapsules that can deliver cancer fighting drugs directly to cancerous cells instead of chemotherapy for the whole body. I think that in the next 10 years or so we will see such things on the market.

If you have seen any scientific news in the past 5 or so years you have inevitably heard the term nanotechnology. (If you are in the scientific community, like me, you have been bombarded with nano-everything)Strictly speaking nanotechnology is the use and investigation of materials that have size features between 1-100nm. (1nm = 1x10^-9 m) Nanomaterials include nanoparticles (usually magnetic iron oxide, or noble metals like gold or silver), quantum dots (which are semiconductor nanoparticles), carbon nanotubes, nanowires, etc..Nanomaterials exhibit interesting properties that differ from the bulk material because of their small size. They have high surface area to volume ratios. They even have size tunable properties, ie solutions of semiconducting quantum dots of the same material can fluoresce (glow) with colors all through the visible spectrum. Smaller ones ~4nm glow violet, and getting larger they cover all of the colors of the rainbow to red.Nanomaterials are finding application from making a better hard drive to finding a cure for cancer. But there is nothing particularly special about them, they are just smaller versions of materials that we have known about for centuries.

It's Hurricane Wilma. Here's a link to Yahoo's storm page. Apparently it has recently weakened to a Category 4 storm. But all these hurricanes are crazy.

My Blog Show Case Just wanted to show u this
atomicnacho replied to tajimd's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I like the style overall, but the headers on the sidebar seem a little out of place. Maybe if the rest of the content of each section was grey as well it woul help them not standout so much. -
I would go with the xbox 360. Even though I probably won't be able to afford it.

atomicnacho replied to Twilight-seraphim's topic in Computer Gaming
I think it would have to be Dr. Wiley from megaman. He built all thos Crazy robots. -
I have to say it's mice. However, I tend to use "mouse" as a verb when talking about computers. So, the process of using a mouse is mousing. Which can lead to saying mouses. "Jimmy mouses around the screen"

How Many Flash Drives Do You Have? COUNT EM UP
atomicnacho replied to Mithshark's topic in Hardware Workshop
Only two for me. A 128Mb some name brand I cannot remember for the camera1Gb built into my MP3 player (Mobiblu DAH-1500i) -
I'm not really sure how this will go over. I do like offering TV shows for download, obviously it would better if it was free, but 1.99 isn't bad. However I think that the some what luke warm reception to the PSP and it's UMD movies seems to indicate that people don't want to walk around watching video on a tiny little screen. What make the ipod great, and most other MP3 players, great is your ability to fill it with your entire music catalogue and stick it in your pocket and listen. Personally I don't want to walk around trying to watch music videos on a tiny little screen. It's just doesn't seem worth it to me./rant

Ok so I bought a domain name from yahoo and set it up. I added the Xisto name servers on it and added it as an addon domain in my Xisto cpanel. I have the addon domain redirect set to redirect it correctly, but it changes to my atomicnacho.trap17.com/mynewdomain-com/ URL in the address bar. I would like it to stay as http://www.mynewdomain.com/. The redirect works fine, but the URL changes in the address bar.I need to make sure that the new domain points to a folder under my main public_html, so I thought I needed to set it up as an addon domain.I've searched around the forum a bunch to find an answer, and have'nt had any luck. My appologies if I missed the answer somewhere. Thanks in advance.

Future Of Newspapers newspapers are they a thing of the past
atomicnacho replied to niloc's topic in Search Engines
I think that newspapers will stick around. The fear that they will totally disappear kinda reminds me of the claim that computers will eliminate paper use, ie everything will be digital and no printed materials. It is clear now that this is not the case, since we probably use more paper than we ever have. I think that people like to have hard copies of things to sit and read. Until very small and cheap gadgets are created that can emulate paper and give us an extremely portable digital solution to the newspaper, it is going to continue to be used.National TV news on the other hand I think is on the way out. -
Purchasing A New Car Give Your Opinions...
atomicnacho replied to Cain's topic in General Discussion
I like the lexus better than the avalon, but it's probably way more expensive. Any reason you are only looking at Toyota/Lexus? Just because you liked your old avalon? -
New Lcd Monitor just got it today
atomicnacho replied to atomicnacho's topic in Science and Technology
I got it for 219 after the rebate. Which is a fantastic deal. I know there are some faster and better LCDs out there, but I can't afford them. I'm really happy with the FujiPlus. I was a little afraid becasue of the low price, but it is great. -
I play the drums or played I guess is more accurate. High School was the Concert and Marching band stuff with a little jazz. Then in college I played in the Jazz band there. I haven't played in a long time, but I'm really interested in getting back into it. Trying to rally some friends to get together a Rock band.In the mean time I have started to teach myself to play the guitar. Been playing for a few years now, but I'm not really that good yet. I probably don't really practice as much as I should.

Robot Racing Gets Under Way 2 million prize at stake
atomicnacho replied to bonniecool's topic in Science and Technology
I've heard about this race before on slashdot I think. From what I remember none of the robots last year were able to finish the course. So nobody claimed the 2 million.Hopefully this years crop of robots can do a little better. -
Heard Of Oled? latest visual technology

My new MP3 player has an oled. I wrote a review on it when I got it a while back. Check here It's nice and bright, and it really works well in a small device due to the low power requirements and compact size. Plus it looks cool..Blue. -
So my old Wal-mart special KDS 17" monitor was on it's way out after about 2 years. So I bit the bullet and upgraded to an LCD. I managed to get a great deal at newegg on a FujiPlus 19" 12ms unit. I basically would have paid the same for a 19" crt. It seems to me that LCD prices are really starting to be comparable to CRT. Gotta wait for a stupid rebate though, which kinda sucks. It just got my hands on it today and I have to say that I'm blown away. I have it plugged into my 9700pro in the DVI and it is awesome. Nice and crisp and no dead pixels. I got lucky apparently because about a third or so of the people that posted a review on newegg about it had a couple. I haven't played any games yet but I'm not anticipating having a problem due to the 12ms response time. They still have a rebate going on and the price after is still really good, I won't post a link because I don't want to break any advertising rules, but if you are in the market for an LCD. I highly recomend checking it out.

I used to play starcraft a lot a few years ago. It was a lot of fun back then. It was probably the first game that I ever played online. Hopefully I still have the cd/key lying around so I can give it a try again. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.ahh good ole zergling rush
